Hey guys! allysunny here! I just wanted to thank you all in for checking out my fanfiction! I don't want to make this very long lol, so I'll just say, for the record, that English is NOT my first language, and that I am deeply sorry if there are any mistakes in the text. I always proof-read it, to make sure there are no grammatical errors whatsoever, but I still can't promise anything.

I found myself crying after finishing my gameplay of Pokémon Black & White many, many years ago. I just found it so sad that N had left! And recently I decided to replay pretty much every Pokémon game, and it just reminded me of how much I loved BW. So after reading many great Ferriswheelshipping fanfictions, I decided to create my own! I actually started it earlier this year (January? February?), but thanks to Corona and life as a whole, was only able to actually work on it properly up until July 2021. And, well, it's already October, so you can see how well that went.

Having said this all, I hope you all enjoy this! It was written from the bottom of my heart 3

Disclaimer: I of course, don't own Pokémon!

It had been just a few months, since White had helped Interpol member Looker find the last of the Seven Sages, Giallo. Because, as if defeating Team Plasma and becoming Unova's hero and Champion hadn't been enough for her and her friends. Nonetheless, White agreed to search for the Sages. She had encountered them before, many times, actually. Perhaps she could be of some help. And she was.

The old man dressed in red robes had been quietly standing over a waterfall in Route 14. He seemed peaceful and lost in thought. It almost hurt White to disturb such a quiet soul, but she had a job to do. Once she approached Giallo, he did not complain. None of them did, actually. Which was odd, but she really had nothing against it. It was easier that way.

"The legend of Unova is about Pokémon and people working together." Giallo had said, staring into the horizon calmly. "If changing the world makes you a hero, anyone can become a hero. As each of us changes what is in our power to change, so the world itself changes."

The brunette girl straightened her hat, and followed the Sage's gaze. The clouds involved most of the mountains ahead, but the sky was clear and she could see flocks of Pokémon migrating, aswell as a few trainers on their own journey. None of them seemed aware of the fact that the Unova hero and a member of the former Team Plasma were there. Nor did they seem to care.

Both of them remained in silence for a while, White not being able to say a word. And how could she? That man, along many others, had been fighting for a cause. It wasn't the best of causes, no. It wasn't even acceptable. Yet, they had become a team, almost like a family, and fought for said cause, because they truly believed in it. And now it was gone. The family, the team had been separated, and the dream, shattered to pieces. Sighing, the girl reached out for her Xtransceiver, and in only a few minutes, another person had joined them.

"Team Plasma changed me, but it could not change the world. I'm looking forward to seeing how you lot will do." The sage said, before turning to the newest arrival. Looker was a tall man, probably in his early 40s, although sometimes his face seemed to carry more troubles than someone his age should. He had turned to Giallo, who had no problem complying to the inspector's wishes of interviewing him. This was the last of the Seven Sages to be found, and Looker felt very grateful as he turned to shake her hand. After a few of the same thankful remarks, he made a comment White couldn't help but feel her heart flutter at the sound of.

"A report has reached my ears of someone far from here," the investigator started, adjusting his long coat. "Indeed, this someone has spotted a person like N and a dragon Pokémon. I depart to validate the validity of this information."

Her eyes widened at the mention of that name, and quite unfortunately, the girl's mouth was quicker than her brain, and instead of sounding curious – which was how she wanted to be seen as – she sounded quite desperate after blurting out, "Where is he?"

The Interpol member turned to her with an arched brow. He didn't think White would be interested in finding the former Team Plasma king, who had put all of their futures at risk. He was wrong, of course. Very wrong.

"My sources said he was last spotted near Undella, but that's just about it. He left before we could confirm it was actually him, so the Interpol now has no idea where he is. We're suspicious he left Unova, but I can't tell you much more. It's classified information after all." Looker sighed as he casually removed a pair of handcuffs from his long coat's pockets, chaining Giallo.

"What about making an exception?" White asked, hopeful. If N had gone somewhere far from Unova, she needed to know. Not only that, she had the right to.

"An exception?"

"For the Hero of Unova! Not to mention its newest Champion. Shouldn't that give me some sort of privilege? I fought him, after all. He's the Hero of Ideals!" but White knew this certain trick wouldn't work forever. People would just get used to the idea of her having saved them and their Pokémon, and she was bound to be defeated as Champion one day. It wouldn't be any time soon, though. She'd make sure of it.

As expected, Looker did not oblige to her request. He turned to her one last time, holding Giallo by the arm.

"I'm sorry, Touko, but I can't break the rules. Not even the Unova Hero is allowed this type of information. Just leave it to us, alright? Don't worry about anything, the Interpol has got everything covered. Just focus on being a teen for the time being! You deserve it! We shall meet again, so until then, adieu."

Having said this, he spun around and left, taking the ex-Plasma Sage with him, and leaving White all alone on that bloody mountain. She eyed her view once more, in hope to become calmer, but it was in vain. In a few seconds, she was already kicking a nearby rock, and letting out a cry in frustration.

"Urgh! Focus on being a teen? Yeah, right! Have me be tied to a damned legend, or prophecy or whatever at a young age, have me take down a criminal organization, have me summon a legendary Pokémon, have me be forever linked to someone who all of a sudden just vanished, and then tell me to focus on being a teen! YES, DO THAT, WHY DON'T YOU?!" White yelled, feeling her blood boil. And he'd called her by her first name, on top of all that!

No one had called White by her first name since she was a kid. Touko. It meant "fight". She found it fitting nowadays, due to obvious reasons, but when she was a child, there were at least two other girls in her class with the same name. So everyone ended up calling her by her last name – White. And as the years went by, she grew used to it, only being called by her first name whenever her mother – or her friends – were particularly mad at her.

After regaining composure, straightening her vest and adjusting her hat, the girl reached for her belt, grasping one of her six pokeballs. She could feel its weight – both physically and symbolically. It's not like she'd ever forget the day she summoned Reshiram, the mythical Dragon Pokémon. Throwing it up in the air, the little sphere opened itself, returning to the trainer's hand, as a big, white dragon-like creature appeared in front of her.

Reshiram was majestic. Her white feathers had a certain celestial glow to them, and the fire-coloured circles on her tail almost fit perfectly with the sunset that could be seen beyond.

"What seems to be the matter, trainer?"

Ah, yes. Reshiram was the only Pokémon White could understand. Unlike N, who had the gift to understand and speak to any Pokémon he had just met, White could only communicate with the legendary Dragon. She never figured why, but had always assumed it was because she had awakened it, and the two shared a special bond.

"Ah, it's nothing!" the girl shook her head, slowly caressing her companion's soft feathers. "I'm just thinking about my journey so far. I found Giallo, you know? Looker just took him. My search for the sages is finally over."

It was said with a hint of sadness that Reshiram picked up almost immediately. It wasn't hard to see how determined its trainer had been to find the Sages, and she had a feeling the girl would be feeling disoriented now that it was over.

Reshiram, as always, was right. Now that she had found the last of the Sages, what was White supposed to do? She'd travelled all around Unova. She'd won all gym badges, battled anyone that came in her way, beat the Elite Four and had become the Champion. She had no idea what the future held for her, and for the first time, she did not find that to be a good thing.

"You must not worry. You're young and talented, and there's still much left for you to do. This current quest of yours is over, but that does not mean that others won't come."

White's vision became blurry as tears formed in her eyes, and she held on tightly to her dragon friend. Reshiram's voice echoed in her head, and it made her happy that only she could hear it. At least she had that.

"It's just"– she sobbed, letting down her guard for once – "I feel like so much has happened since I left home that day! I'm Champion for Arceus's sake! And I'm barely even twenty years old! What if I can't find my new quest? What if I just don't do anything anymore? What am I supposed to do now?"

Reshiram lovingly placed one of its enormous wings around the trainer, in an attempt to comfort her. Since the moment White had awakened it, the legendary Pokémon could see how determined and strong-willed she was. The girl had a special fire on those ocean blue eyes of her, and would never take a defeat for an answer. Which is why it was so troubling to see her so upset. The girl who had once been so fixed on saving Unova from Team Plasma, and who'd trained day and night to beat Alder, the former Champion, was now frantically crying and worrying about the future.

"It will come to you. You're a very special trainer. If you think your journey has come to an end only because you find yourself without a task right now, then you're wrong. Your journey has barely begun. Now please, do wipe your tears. It breaks my heart to see you so distressed."

White had to admit, Reshiram had some good pep talks. It worked almost instantly. She wiped her tears and took a few deep breaths, hugging her Pokémon right after. The dragon of Truth sure knew what to say. Quickly climbing on top of Reshiram's back, the trainer checked the time on her Xtransceiver.

"Right as always, Resh," she chuckled, looking at the sunset once more. It was quite the perfect landscape. The waterfall near her was making relaxing bubbling sounds, the wind was rustling the trees and the faint sound of children laughing and Pokémon sounds could be heard in the distance.

"You've granted them all a future alongside Pokémon," White could hear her companion's voice echoing inside her head once more, "See how happy they are? It's thanks to you. And I'm sure grand things are waiting for you, Champion."

"I've granted them all a future alongside Pokémon, but at what cost?" a sigh left White's lips, as she allowed herself one more moment of sadness. She avoided talking about him as much as possible, for she knew it would just hurt her more. But it's not like she could avoid it much longer. "N's gone, Reshiram. Off to Arceus knows where. And I… I… Well, damn it! I miss him, Resh! And the worst part is: I don't know why! I have no idea what my feelings are for that… that green-haired...! That hippie… That hippie dressing…! Fast talking…! Weirdo!"

Reshiram just burst out chuckling. White was asking for it, though. The girl threw a few punches in the air out of frustration, before holding on tightly to the soft white feathers of the dragon.

"You don't? Well, I think it's very obvious."

So did she. She knew it, of course. She just did not want to admit she loved the ex-Plasma King. How could she, after all? He was her enemy. They had different ideals, had lived different realities. She defeated him countless times. She had brought down his entire organization, and prevented him from separating people and Pokémon.

And yet she couldn't help it when she felt her heart break, her mind forcing her to ask him to stay with her once he had hopped on Zekrom, leaving her for good on the day of their fated battle. The girl thought the feeling would go away with time, but it did not. Although she did not cry as much before falling asleep, her heart still did cartwheels whenever his name was mentioned, or his face was on the news (followed by hers, grinning widely as she proudly stood next to Reshiram).

"I shouldn't be thinking about him," she said, drawing invisible patterns on Reshiram's feathers. "Can we just go home? I'd like to get some sleep."

The legendary Pokémon nodded, and swiftly took flight, shielding its trainer from the wind as she fell asleep, her mind drifting off to a heated battle won not long ago, an unreadable smile, and the last glimpse of the greenest hair she'd ever seen.

But that was long ago.

It had been exactly five months since White had last seen Looker, and to be quite frank, she didn't think about it quite as much. She just got used to the idea of having helped the Interpol, and was now trying to enjoy her free time, travelling as she pleased and spending time with her Pokémon.

At the moment, she was leaning against her Serperior right under a tree, with her eyes closed as she relaxed for a bit. Nuvema town was amazing on summertime, and White had made it her priority to enjoy the season as much as she could. The rest of her Pokémon were running around said tree, chasing each other and letting out cries of contempt. Some were even pushing each other to the nearby lake, interacting with other Pokémon, or just splashing around.

"Ah, how I've missed summertime!" her friend cheered. Bianca was eyeing the forest around them, happily throwing poffins at her own Pokémon. "The warm breeze, the pretty colours, everything just seems much more alive," the blonde smiled, locking her fingers and leaning into the boy next to her, who was completely hypnotized by his partner.

White just smiled at them. Cheren and Bianca had started dating pretty much the day they'd all defeated Team Plasma. Bianca had told her all about it, of course. Back on that day, she was fighting some random Plasma grunt, and was down to her last Pokémon, her dearest Musharna. Bianca was absolutely cornered – there was no way Musharna would survive the next attack.

The way she describes it, it was horrible. The grunt had the evillest smile in his face as he commanded his Liepard to attack, and Bianca could only do so much as hope the damage wasn't too big. Then all of a sudden, Cheren was stepping in front of her, shouting for his Tepig to attack. Within a few moments, the fight was over, and the grunt was running away for dear life, as Cheren yelled some nasty threats at him.

Without as so much as time to reply, the young man was taking her by the hand and leading her to the throne room where the final battle between the two heroes was happening, not wanting Bianca to leave her side. There was no time to waste, after all.

After the battle was over, and all was said and done, White remembered how Cheren had just turned to her best friend and blurted out this whole "I love you and don't think I'll ever be able to be apart from you and would never forgive myself if something bad had happened to you today" speech, much to everyone's surprise. From then on, it was history.

Obviously, Cheren sees it in a completely different way. According to him, he just saw Bianca in danger and did what any rational human being would do, and helped her out. As for the speech, he says he has no recollection of ever saying it. Although, every time he makes this particular claim, his cheeks suddenly turned a nice shade of pink, and his dialogue not so coherent.

Of course White couldn't say she was surprised. She could see the way Cheren looked at Bianca and vice versa. It had been like that since they were around 12 years old. Although Bianca had always had multiple boyfriends, and guys crushing on her, she only had eyes for the black haired nerdy boy. She thought he never noticed her, but oh boy, was she wrong.

In fact, it was all he did. He'd occasionally steal some glances at her, and once their eyes met, he'd go back to wearing that serious, cocky expression of his, but it wasn't hard to see how he looked at the blonde girl as if she was the only person in the world.

And honestly, White couldn't be happier for them.

She turned to get a better look of her best friends, and her smile became wider. Bianca was, as always, going on about some silly topic she found interesting, making grand gestures with her hands, and speaking in a loud voice tone. Cheren was listening to her, as if he was witnessing the most fascinating lecture in the entire world. Once his glasses got stolen by his girlfriend, instead of huffing and demanding them back, he chuckled and shook his head, used to it by now.

Yes, White couldn't indeed be happier for them. She shook her head and whistled, getting the attention of the nearby couple.

"Hey, you two," she exclaimed, a playful grin playing on her lips. "Please do get a room? Some of us are trying to rest!"

Cheren and Bianca turned their heads at the same time, White couldn't help laugh at their expressions. Cheren seemed as if someone just paused his favourite show, or stole his favourite candy, and Bianca's cheeks were slightly pink at the mention of a "room".

"O-oh!" The blonde girl exclaimed, adjusting her beret. "Am I talking too much again? I'm sorry!" She smiled sheepishly, petting her dear Musharna. Of course she wouldn't stay mad at her best friend for telling her to shut up. Bianca knew she sometimes could cross the line when it came to dialogue.

"No, you were not," Cheren replied. "White is just being grumpy again. In fact, I think she's just jealous that she has to lean against her Pokémon other than actually leaning against someone." His lips curled into a sly smile, and he shrugged.

"Excuse me?" White scoffed, adjusting her hat, moving to sit cross-legged in front of the pair.

"You heard me," the boy continued, accepting the glasses Bianca handed him back, and slowly pushing them up his nose. "I think you – White – are just jealous that you're single, and are taking it out on us."

Bianca couldn't help but chuckle, and give her boyfriend a light shove on the arm, "Come on, you meanie! Leave White alone," she laughed. "At least she can kick your ass in a Pokémon battle!"

"Wait, you're on her side?" Cheren faked a hurt facial expression, and shook his head. "My ability to battle has nothing to do with the conversation, you're just trying to change the subject, Bianca Amano!" Having said this, he stole her pretty green hat and held it high above his head.

It was weird seeing Cheren this excited. He was usually so serious and stern, but Bianca really did bring out his playful side – and it was a lovely thing to witness.

The boy got up and ran around the tree, shaking the hat above his head as the blonde girl followed behind. There were plenty of "Give me my hat back!"s and "Cheren Togami, you're impossible!"s thrown around, and eventually White herself was being yanked by the arm into the mess, breaking into fits of giggles.

"Oh no, no. Don't drag me into this," she laughed, "It's hard enough being the third wheel on a daily basis, just let me get some rest."

Bianca's green eyes suddenly turned big and sparkly, and she was quick to shake her head and reassure her friend, holding her hands tightly – like she always did.

"You're not the third wheel! You've never been, and will never be. We're a trio, remember? We've been a trio since we were kids, and that's not going to change just because Cheren and I are together. You're still our White!"

"She's right," Cheren approached them, carefully placing the hat back where it belonged – atop Bianca's golden head. "And even if you were a third wheel, we'd never tell you. We're too nice for that"- the boy received another light punch –"Ouch! Will you stop that?" Predicting his girlfriend next move, Cheren smirked and grabbed her arm, quickly stealing a kiss from her, before deciding it was a nice idea to steal her hat once more.

Who was this guy, and what had he done to the serious and sober Cheren Togami, White would never know. But she liked it nevertheless. She decided to sit down once more, taking advantage of the shade the huge tree provided. She leaned against her trusted Serperior, hearing it hiss in content. Her other Pokémon were still scattered across the meadow. Some had fallen asleep on top of each other, others were wreaking havoc on the lake, and some were even returning to her side.

"Oh yeah? And what'd you think if you were the third wheel, huh?" Bianca asked, a playful grin appearing on her face. "I'm sure you wouldn't be saying that if, let's say, White and I were to be dating! Or dating someone else!

"Please, like White would ever date someone. She's an expert in driving boys away from her!"

It was supposed to be a joke, the initial chuckle he let out and the way he pushed his glasses up his nose once again accentuating it. But as soon as the words left his mouth, he realised he had screwed up.

Any jokes concerning how boys seemed to run away from her were a big no-no. And it's not like she drove them away – she just wasn't interested in any romantic relationships. After winning the Pokémon League and becoming champion, White had been offered plenty of proposals, from famous and prestigious trainers, and even other cities' gym leaders. Promises of a life filled with power, riches and whatever more she could possibly imagine.

Needless to say, she wasn't interested. White wasn't interested in the money, nor the power, nor anything else. All she had wanted, was to get another glimpse of those green eyes of his - those eyes full of curiosity and determination and adoration - and bury her face in that pastel green mess of a hair. She had once gotten a sniff out of it – he smelled like forest and poffins, and as ashamed as she was to admit it, White had found herself reminiscing about the moment she'd first felt that sweet, sweet scent.

Her friends knew this. That's why these kinds of jokes weren't very welcome. Cheren had found N quite obnoxious. Weird. Kind of a stalker. The day he'd left, White had been a mess, and no one but Cheren had been able to cheer her up. He'd tried insulting and mocking the ex-Plasma King, and after a while was rewarded with some faint chuckles from her. That was a start.

Bianca, on the other hand, had not let her best friend cry her heartbreak out - she'd dragged her to pretty much every event and party she could possibly find. She took White out for brunch dates, Pokémon battles, she made sure the Unova Champion had her mind busy at all times. And it sure as hell worked too.

"White, look, I'm really sorry, you know I didn't mean – "

"It's okay!" the girl quickly replied, shaking her head. The less they spoke about it, the better. "I'm over it. Let's just change the topic, alright?" Her trusted Serperior nuzzled its head against hers, trying to comfort the trainer.

The trio remained silent for a while – no one seemed to have anything else to say. Cheren had returned the hat to its rightful owner, and was now sitting down a few steps away from White, patting the grass spot next to him so that Bianca could join them.

Unsurprisingly, it was Bianca who spoke first. But the words that came out of her mouth were unexpected.

"You see," she started "I don't think you are over it."

Gaining a shocked look from her boyfriend, and a confused gaze from her best friend, the blonde girl sighed, and decided to continue. This needed to be said, after all.

"White, shutting yourself away from the world isn't moving on!"

"I'm literally sitting outside – "

"That's not what I meant! When's the last time you went out with anyone else that wasn't us, or your Pokémon? I know you like the League, and I'm sure being the Champion must be really rewarding, but it's not like you do anything else!" Bianca's tone was the same as always – bubbly and high pitched – but there was something more serious to it. "It's been months since you've last heard of him, White. Five of them, to be exact. And I know it pains you to hear this – I don't like to say it either – but he's not coming back! And you need to move on, and give people a chance to get close to you. You can't just turn away from everyone because you got your heart broken. Life goes on, and you can't be stuck on the past forever. I can't even begin to imagine how important N was to you – and I won't try to! Your bond is just unimaginably strong. But it's time to move on with your life."

They remained silent for a while. Cheren was staring at his girlfriend, completely wide-eyed. It's not like he didn't agree – he absolutely did. The boy just hadn't been brave enough to say it. Girls were complicated, and who knew what his best friend might do if he dared to say a word about her whole "post-almost-kind-of-breakup-that-wasn't-a-breakup-because-they-hadn't-even-been-dating-but-still-qualified-as-a-breakup-since-he-had-left-and-she-was-devastated" phase. He squeezed Bianca's hand, as a sign of appreciation.

As for White? Instead of screaming, tears or walking away from them, she did something no one was expecting.

She smiled.

"I really do need to move on, don't I?" she asked, shaking her head. "It's just easier to assume that N will come back some day, than accepting the hard truth. But you're right. You're absolutely right. I need to get a life outside of the Pokémon League, and I need to move on with my life. I'm the Champion after all – there's nothing I can't do!"

Most would have said it was easier said than done, but not for White. She actually felt lighter after saying those words. Saying his name had always been hard, but as soon as she did it once, she realised what it really was: just a name

She could cry and hope and dream all she wanted, but the brunette knew that if she wanted something, she had to work for it. And right now, all she wanted was to really move on, to be able to have fun with her friends without looking up at the sky every once in a while, in hopes of seeing a black dragon crossing it at the speed of light. She wanted to meet people and new Pokémon, and perhaps even travel once again. She wanted to feel the same thrill she'd felt on that fateful day, a day that seemed decades ago, when her friends and her had taken their first step together towards a new journey.

Who knew? She had her whole future ahead of her – just as Reshiram had said – and she was going to make the most of it.

She did not need to wait for someone to come and rescue her – White had always been her own knight in shining armour, and that was not going to change.

Like a new life had taken over her, White stood up and threw her arms around her best friends.

"Thank you!" she exclaimed, tears forming in the corner of her eyes. Yet these were unlike any she had shed in the previous months – these were happiness tears. "For always being by my side and putting up with me. Thank you for opening my eyes!"

The couple smiled at each other and returned the hug, glad to finally get a glimpse of their old friend.

Touko White was about to turn a new page, and start fresh.
