Battle at the Baratie! 'Iron Wall' Pearl!
Somewhere at the sea, Baratie
After 'Hawkeye' Mihawk left after defeating Zoro while Usopp, the two bounty hunters, and Zoro head towards the Cocoyashi village to go after Nami and Ventus before Arlong gets ahold of the young Dragoon and kill him, the Krieg pirates were about to invade the sea restaurant.
"Alright, they want a fight too, huh?" Luffy said with a big grin, hanging himself upside down as he lift his body up, grabbing the wooden rails. "Now this'll be fun. Okay pops, you promised me, remember? If I run those pirates off, then my debt to you is clear, no more chores."
"That's the deal." Zeff accepts with an agreement. "There's no telling how much more of my restaurant you can screw up if you stick around."
"Yeah." Luffy said with a chuckle.
"So kid, you said you're going to be King of the Pirates. Were you serious?" Zeff questions.
"Well yeah, of course." Luffy answered simply. "I'm definitely gonna be the King of the Pirates someday."
"I've seen a whole lot of pirates at my day, but you're the first to state your desire so clearly without a doubt." Zeff told him with a smirk.
"I heard that back at the day, you were a pretty awesome pirate yourself." Luffy said with a grin. "So, did you want to be the King of the Pirates too?"
"I do my best to forget about the past." Zeff hummed in thought, looking at the sky. "I'm the owner of Baratie now and that's quite enough for me."
Sanji was the sous chef for as long as he remember which both he and Zeff didn't along very well. He slightly look at Zeff with wonder as Don Krieg spoke.
"Men! If we can capture that ship, the Grand Line will be ours for the taking!" Don Krieg shouts, pointing at the Baratie. "No more pretending to be Marines! Or raising the white flag of surrender! None of our enemies will suspect that we're a threat with a ship like that! In that boat, it will always be a sneak attack!"
"He's right, that boat will come and handy."
"No one would think that pirates were in such a ridiculous looking ship."
"Right but Don, even if we enter the Grand Line again using that vessel, what if we come across someone like 'Hawkeye' Mihawk again? Then what'll we do?"
Even though, one of his crew was right about encountering someone strong and terrifying like 'Hawkeye' Mihawk in the Grand Line which the Krieg pirates were questioning about Don Krieg's plan. However, Don Krieg don't like being questioned which he doesn't have the patience as he drew out his gun, shot of his own crew, leaving him dead. The Krieg pirates were now scared that one of them would be next if they would ever try questioning Don Krieg.
"I really appreciate that input, sailor. Anything else?" Don Krieg questions with a snarl, aiming his gun towards his crew. "Do you think an ordinary man could cut up a sailing ship like that?"
The Krieg pirates just stood silent, not answering anything which they know that only one man who would cut a ship.
"That man probably has the power of the Devil Fruit." Don Krieg proclaims seriously. "Although, those with Devil Fruit powers are rare and legendary to us. I assure you there common place on the Grand Line. Mihawk must've use some sort of strange power when he sliced our ship to ribbons. When we're on the Grand Line, those powers won't be special, even the Straw hat freak will be considered normal."
Don Krieg then tightened his fist while staring at Luffy for a few seconds, then he stared at Zeff as he spoke.
"That old geezer 'Red Foot' Zeff sailed those seas for a year." Don Krieg told them. "It stands to reason that he had strategies for dealing those monsters. The techniques for surviving the parade of weirdos must be written in the old man's logbook. Along with clues to the One Piece."
It got the Krieg pirates realized that he was right about Zeff's logbook which it could be the only clue to get to One Piece. Once they get the sea restaurant and the logbook, they'll be able to get to One Piece, get through the nature disaster, and fight against the Devil Fruit users.
"You hear that boys! Now lets get to it! The restaurant will be ours!" Don Krieg ordered his men, leaving them cheered. However, both Patty and Carne were inside of the fish head.
"You pirate scum are have to get through us first." Patty said with a smirk.
"We must protect the ship, no matter what happens." Carne said as they place their feet on the pedals, but they were having a bit of trouble which they're trying to figure out of how to start the fish head. Sanji then walk towards the chefs as he spoke while blow the smoke.
"This restaurant will be a battlefield." Sanji said seriously, remembered the time that he get swept from the ship during the tidal wave when he was a kid. 'Times like these make you reflect on your life, I think I was meant for something else, I think if I can make it out of this alive, I'll build a restaurant as my final purpose. A restaurant, is my final purpose.'
Those words have echoed on Sanji's mind ever since he remembered when he first met Zeff, turned his head to his co-worker as he spoke.
"Go to the control room and open up the fence." Sanji told him, leaving him shocked.
"What!? No, that's a bad idea!? If we do that, we'll be given the enemy a foothold!?"
"And that's just fine, we gotta do whatever it takes to keep those guys out of this place." Sanji assures, tapping the wall of the sea restaurant. "If they destroy the inside, then the old man will complain forever."
"Did you just say something, you brat?" Zeff questions with a scowl, even though he heard everything.
"Yeah, I said your whiney." Sanji scoffed, turned to his co-worker. "Now go."
With that, the chef then head towards the control room so he con open the fence and the sea restaurant will turn into a battlefield. The Krieg pirates was about go after the Baratie.
"That's right, bring it on. I'm coming for ya." Luffy said with excitement, move backwards while stretching his arms. "Gum-Gum: Rocket"
Luffy then launched himself which left both the chefs and the Krieg pirates shocked when they've witness his Devil Fruit ability as he then stretch his arms.
"Gum-Gum: Giant Scythe" Luffy then clothesline the Krieg pirates, leaving them knocked out and sent them down to the sea. Luffy then grabbed the broken mast with a laugh and Don Krieg grunts with frustration. The chefs were amazed which they might have a chance to win this fight.
"Did you see that!? Go kid!"
"What the heck is up with that guy!?"
"Yeah, he's crazy!"
"It's hard to believe. The Grand Line is crawling with guys like these?" Sanji said with shock.
"Sanji." Zeff called him seriously, earned his attention. "Pay especial attention to how this one fights. Don't take your eyes off in for a moment until this fight is over, is that clear?"
Sanji was confused and surprised about what he means by that which he'll have to find out soon as Luffy spoke.
"So let me get this straight, you're attacking the restaurant that gave you food. I'd got no choice but to beat some manners into you." Luffy declares, leaving Don Krieg burst with laughter.
"So you wanna fight on the water when there's no place to stand, huh?" Don Krieg said with a smirk. "A bold move for someone like you. The Devil Fruit has taken your ability to swim hasn't it, chore boy?"
"Yeah, but now I'm stretchy." Luffy answered with a grin.
Even though, he was right about him taking the ability to swim since it's the downside when he ate the Devil Fruit and his body made out of rubber. However, the Baratie was shaking as one of the chef said.
"Sanji! Here come the fins!"
The chef then pulled the lever down to activate the fins, leaving both Don Krieg and Luffy confused, but realize that the fins were rising as the Krieg pirates swam out of its way as the fins then attach the main lobby, turning the sea restaurant into a battlefield.
"What is this!?"
"Now we have somewhere to fight them."
"Whoa! That's so cool!" Luffy yelled with amazement.
Sanji then walk towards the fins with his serious look on his face as he spoke.
"My cooks and I will never give up defending this place. Prepare to die." Sanji said with a threat.
"I see." Don Krieg said with a smirk. "Good plan, bringing up all of the extra decking, genius. Now we don't have to take the fight inside, I hate to damage my future ship and make no mistake, it will be mine."
"We will never let you have the restaurant!?"
"That's right! We mean business!" Patty shouts.
"We're battle cooks now!" Carne added.
With that, the fish head then detach the sea restaurant and turned into mobile battleship when the fin was revealed at the top along with three cannons from the mouth.
"Set sail Mackerel Head 1, the Baratie's secret weapon!" Patty stated, paddle towards Don Krieg.
"So, if you wanna live by just running away now." Carne added, helping Patty paddle as the Makerel Head 1 head towards Don Krieg.
"What is that thing?" Don Krieg asks with annoyance.
"That thing is so cool." Luffy said with a smile.
However, both Patty and Carne were arguing to paddle faster which they're both paddle faster as they then fire the cannons at the Krieg pirates, causing the broken mast which they failed to realize that Luffy was holding on the mast since he was about to sink as the chefs cheered them on when the two kept firing at the Krieg pirates.
"Nice." Luffy said.
Patty was laughing when he saw the Krieg pirates were helpless since they weren't kidding about being the battle cooks.
"Keep your eyes on the prize, Patty! This one counts!" Carne shouts.
"Right!" Patty agrees as the two then paddles faster, heading towards Don Krieg. "Krieg! Say your prayers! Little did you know that the sea restaurant Baratie had such a powerful weapon just waiting to be unleash!"
With that, they fire the cannonballs at Don Krieg which they made a direct hit at point-blank range, but as the dust clears, Don Krieg was still standing which he's right really mad as he grabbed hold of the Mackerel Head 1.
"What happen? Did we bump into something?" Patty questions with confusion.
"We're not moving!?" Carne exclaims.
However, they didn't know that Don Krieg was still alive which he grabbed the Mackerel Head 1 with an angry look on his face.
"I AM DON KRIEG! THE MAN WHO WILL RULE THE OCEAN!" Don Krieg yelled. "I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THESE STUPID GAMES! GET OUTTA HERE!?"
With that, Don Krieg then lift up the Mackerel Head 1 with his overwhelming strength, leaving both Patty and Carne shocked with fright as Don Krieg then threw the Mackerel Head 1 right towards the sea restaurant with ease.
"It's gonna straight for us!?"
"The restaurant!? Oh no!?"
Sanji then leap towards the paddle-ship, leaving the Krieg pirates and Luffy shocked when it was about to head towards the sea restaurant as he then kicked the Mackerel Head 1 to prevent it crashing at the sea restaurant, sent it crash towards the fin head-first. The chefs were relieved that Sanji was able to prevent that ship from destroying the restaurant while Don Kreig couldn't help but felt shocked that Sanji just kicked it with ease as the sous chef landed on the fin.
"He's got legs of steel!?"
"He kick back the crazy boat just like it was nothing."
"Very impressive." Don Krieg said with a scowl.
"Sanji! Good job!"
"Nice kick." Luffy compliments.
When the dust clears, both Patty and Carne were upset when they got out of the fin as they rush towards Sanji.
"What's the deal!?" Patty shouts.
"Are you trying to crush your friends!?" Carne added with a shout.
"Yeah, yeah." Sanji shrugs.
"Don't 'yeah, yeah' us you crazy fool!?" Patty exclaims, revealed his white eyes and his shark-like teeth.
"Stop acting so cool! You wouldn't be so smug it we've been, you bucket of back wash!?" Carne shouts.
However, they've got bigger problems when the Krieg pirates swam their way towards the Baratie since this is about to turn into battlefield.
"Alright ladies, you think you can wrap this up another time? We have business to attend to."
The chefs then turn their heads to the Krieg pirates as one of the chefs charge after them, but they were overwhelmed when the Krieg pirates have beaten the chefs easily and destroyed their weapons. Sanji then scowled while Zeff was looking at the battle scene with his serious expression. The chefs won't give up, not without a fight as one of the Krieg pirates spoke.
"You guys still don't get it. Even well-armed, you're still cooks and we're expert fighters that are way out of your league. So, why don't you be good little cooks and run along to a safer restaurant, maybe one on land huh?"
"Come on guys, why you letting them beat up so easily, huh!?" Carne shouts the chefs.
"And you call yourselves fighting cooks!?" Patty added.
"Well these pirates are really good, they're totally different from the ones we fought before."
"It's insulting they lump us with that average riff-raff. We are the great Krieg pirates and we're the absolute rulers of the East Blue."
"Let it be known to all that this garish boat already belongs to the great and powerful Krieg pirates!" Don Krieg stated.
"I'm afraid you're mistaken." Sanji denies. "You and your cronies will never set foot in our restaurant."
"He's right, men!" Zeff added with an agreement.
"You know what? I've been a cook all of my life, I've worked a lot of restaurants and gotten fired from them all for a scuffling and living hard." Patty confess.
"And after years of wandering, we finally found a home here." Carne added.
Both Patty and Carne remembered when they first got the job at the Baratie since they've found a 'Help Wanted' sign which basically, Zeff was hiring someone who has experience of cooking. Of course, Zeff accepted them, but he told that they need to understand that this is no ordinary restaurant. It doesn't matter who they are or where they come from, if someone comes in hungry, they will feed them until the customers is stuffed. With that, both Patty and Carne began cooking in the kitchen at first, but when Zeff tried that soup, he felt disgusted that he won't serve that slop to those customers which it led the two argue and fight each other. When their nostalgia ended, Patty spoke.
"We like fighting and cooking. So this place is perfect for us." Patty said with a smirk, readied his fighting stance.
"That's right, there's no other place like this." Carne added, readied his fighting stance.
"You hear that, now that's true fighting spirit." Sanji stated with a scowl.
"Committing ourselves to cooking fine cuisine, day in and day out is a fierce battle." Patty said. "Compare to that, these pirates are nothing."
"He's right, yeah."
"Let's fight!?"
With that, the chefs then charge after the Krieg pirates as they fight back to protect the Baratie and Zeff. Until, a man swam towards the sea restaurant as he fire the round pellet at Patty, sent him flying down to the wooden floor.
"What the hell was that!?" Carne exclaims, but the man fired a round pellet, sent him flying down to the wooden floor.
Luffy was confused while Sanji scowled and Zeff remained his expression when he saw a large man.
He was a towering man with two large iron plates covering his front and his backside, as well as two small plates with large pearls embedded in them for strong, blunt attacks, six small iron plates covered in his elbows, knees, and hands. He wore a tan sleeveless shirt, dark purple pants, lavender sash around his waist, and shoes embedded with pearls. He had a big pearl on his head and black hair.
"Just what do you guys think you're doing?" The large man questions with a disappointed sigh.
"Who's that?" Luffy asks with confusion.
"So, let's do this, but before we begin, it's only fair I give a warning." The large man said with a smile, chuckle a bit while raise his arm. "I am Pearl 'The Invincible Shield'."
"Hey, it's Pearl!?"
"Patty, Carne, are you boys okay?" Zeff asks.
"I'd say that pair is far from okay. Those two just experience my 'Pearl Surprise', one of my signature punches, you bumbling pathetic idiot." Pearl mocks, leaving Sanji and Zeff felt insulted. One of the Krieg pirates walk towards Patty when he saw a kitchen knife as he spoke.
"Hey, look at that. Nice knife, I think I'll take it."
However, Patty grab hold of his wrist, preventing him from grabbing the kitchen knife as Sanji approaches, earned his attention when he delivers a kick to the face, sent him flying towards the wooden floor and knocked out. The Krieg pirates weren't expecting this when one of them collided with the three, landed right next to Pearl and knocked out by the large iron plate while Sanji grabbed the kitchen knife.
"That guy knows how to kick some serious butt, I knew there was the reason I liked him so much right off the bat." Luffy said with a smile.
"A kitchen knife is a cooks soul! How dare you filthy pirates try to desecrate with your grubby little hands!?" Sanji yelled with anger.
"Sanji." Patty groaned, earned his attention.
"Just stay down and hang on to this." Sanji told him, extends the kitchen knife to Patty as he grabbed it, turned his head to the Krieg Pirates. "I'm gonna teach these bozos a lesson."
With that, the Krieg pirates charge after Sanji, but the sous chef vanished in a blink of an eye as he then delivers a multiple kicks at the Krieg pirates, leaving them knocked out and sent flying at the wooden floor.
"I'll show you a mere cook after I filet every one of you bastards." Sanji proclaims with killing intent, placing his foot down to the ground.
"Ha! A very impudent of you to defeat them all using only your kicks. Am I to be impressed by that?" Pearl rhetorically questions with a mock.
"I'm a cook, remember?" Sanji retorts seriously. "I couldn't do my job very well if I ruin my hands in battle. So, I'll be taking you down with my feet,"
"Is that so? I think not." Pearl disagrees with a smirk. "I'm invincible you see, I've all 61 of my battles completely and totally unscathed. It's quite remarkable really, no one has ever shed a single drop of my blood in battle, no one."
Sanji wasn't impressed at all when he saw Pearl used his round pellets at Patty and Carne which to him, he used an underhanded tactic. Pearl then raise his hands as he spoke.
"Now do you realize my power?" Pearl questions, clanging the iron plates. "I maybe a gentleman, but I'm not gentle. Got it?"
"Was that suppose to be a joke? Cuz' it wasn't even a little bit funny." Luffy said with confusion.
"Dropping Your Guard Is Good Way To End Up Dead, You Brat!?" Don Krieg yelled as he then threw the spiked flail at Luffy, breaking the mast as he then threw the spiked flail at him again, sent flying.
"Even battleship cannons don't work on me, I come out of any attack unharmed." Pearl bragged, causing Sanji to look up as Luffy then hit him from behind unintentionally, leaving the sous chef smirk which he was glad that someone shut him up.
"Boy, that could have been really bad. Good thing I didn't fall into the ocean." Luffy said, dusting his clothes as he then look at Pearl.
Pearl then his finger on his upper lip, seeing that he was bleeding from his nose which it was the first time that his blood has been spilled, leaving him frightened. The Krieg pirates knew fully well that Pearl gets really mad when his blood have spilled which they were really scared of what happens next.
"This isn't good." Don Krieg said.
"Blood!? No!?"
"Pearl don't worry!?"
"It's only a nose-bleed, Pearl!?"
"Look, we know its not a battle-wound!? So just keep calm, okay?"
The Krieg pirates were trying to get Pearl to calm down, but no avail when his anger was starting to boil up as he spoke.
"These people are just mean. They're dangerous." Pearl said.
"So uh, wanna tell me why everyone is freaking out?" Sanji questions with confusion.
"And they're worried about a nose-bleed?" Luffy added with confusion, picking on his nose.
Pearl then repeatedly clang the iron plates with anger.
"Calm down! It's just a nose-bleed, don't lose your cool! Relax!" Don Krieg tried to assure him, raise his hand.
However, it didn't help him when Pearl then clanging the iron plates even faster which it starts to annoy them.
"Geeze, what is that guy doing?" Sanji questions with annoyance.
"Danger! Danger! DANGER!" Pearl yelled as his iron plates was then on fire.
That got the Krieg pirates really scared since they knew that when Pearl gets really angry, he set himself on fire. Pearl then yelled as he spoke.
"Fire Pearls Special Treat" Pearl then fires the flaming pearls at everyone around him, setting the fin on fire and the Krieg pirates on fire which they were starting to panic while trying to stop the fire from spreading. "Perish In My Flames With My Shields And This Inferno! I Am Invincible!"
Don Krieg was really upset when he saw Pearl setting the fin on fire and it continues to spread which it didn't go as he thought it would.
"That moron! We need that ship and he's gonna destroy it!" Don Krieg exclaims with a scowl.
Luffy then runs around like crazy when his butt was on fire while Sanji then scoffed, figured that this fight isn't easy. The Krieg pirates were now helpless since they would either burn or drown which they're seeing Pearl destroying the ship, setting it on fire.
'Not on my watch!' Sanji mentally shouts with anger as he leap towards Pearl. "You son of a bitch!"
"Wait! No, You'll Get Burned!?" Patty yelled with worry.
Pearl was shocked and surprised when he saw Sanji leap over the flames.
"There's no way I'm gonna let you torch our dreams." Sanji shouts as he then delivers a kick, causing Pearl to block with his iron plate.
"That guy is either brave or dumb?"
"That cook is gonna burn!?"
"But, but these flames scare everyone away!?"
"Well, if I was scared of fire, I wouldn't be much of a cook." Sanji proclaims with a smirk.
"I hate him! I hate that refined gentleman!?" Pearl exclaims, feeling offended.
Sanji then placed his cigarette on his mouth as he then delivers a handspring kick, sent him flying down to the wooden floor.
The Krieg were shocked that Sanji just knocked Pearl out which he manage to break through his wall. Meanwhile, some of the Krieg pirates were still panicking since they're still on fire, trying to put the fire out which it's not working.
"You stupid cook! You're totally insane! I'll...kill...you!" Pearl declared with teary eyes. "Fire! Need More Fire! Fire Pearls Surprise"
Pearl then fires the fiery pearls when it was aiming at the sea restaurant, leaving the Krieg pirates frightened which if the blaze head towards the kitchen, the sea restaurant and they won't have the ship. The pearls were heading straight towards Zeff when the chefs told him to move, but he won't move a budge as he then use his peg leg to swipe the flames, leaving the pearls extinguished as it landed on the wooden floor. They were amazed as Zeff then placed his peg leg on the wooden floor.
"What!? No way! He put out my fire pearls!?" Pearl exclaims with shock.
"'Fire pearls' eh? That's kid stuff." Zeff scoffed.
"Wow! The Gisoku Kick put out all of those flames!"
"Impossible! I don't believe it!? 'Red Foot' Zeff is still just as strong as ever!?"
"Way to go, pops. I'm impressed." Luffy said with a grin.
However, this fight is going on long enough since the fin was already spreading like wildfire when Pearl went on a rampage due to nose-bleed.
"So, then it's finally come down to this, huh?" Don Krieg said seriously. "I've got no choice, smash the fins or the boat first?"
Don Krieg then throw the spiked flail right towards the wooden fins.
"Sanji!? Watch out!?" Patty warned him, but Sanji can't move out of the way.
"He can't escape! He's surrounded by fire!?"
The spiked flail was then head towards the wooden fin which both Sanji and Pearl can't move since they were surrounded by fire, leaving Sanji and Pearl frightened. Until, Luffy run right through the flames as he turned his head to the spiked flail.
"Gum-Gum: Bazooka" Luffy then stretch both of his arms far back and hurls them forward, pushed the spiked flail right back.
Don Krieg was shocked that Luffy was able to push his weapon back while the rubber captain tried to put the fire since his butt was still on fire. The spiked flail then hit the wooden mast, tumbled down as both Luffy and Sanji then quickly move as the mast hit Pearl in the head, leaving knocked out and defeated.
"Pearl is down! And he's not gonna get up this time!?"
"NO!? PEARL!?"
"So weird." Sanji said.
"Yeah, that guy sure is goofy." Luffy agrees.
"You want something done right, you've got no choice but to do it yourself." Don Krieg said to himself.
Until, Gin knocked Zeff out when both Sanji and Luffy heard a shout as they turned their heads to the two as Don Krieg's crewman pointed the gun at the head chef.
"The battle ends right here." Gin told them.
"Shoot Him!?" Don Krieg ordered him. "Do It Now!? All We Have To Do Is Kill The Geezer, Then The Restaurant Will Be Ours!?"
The battle was starting to grew intense since Gin have given them a choice which is they either surrender and give up the sea restaurant or he'll shoot him.
