Okay, but what is today, though?
Today is the day of the last update to this story, one year ago. But no new chapter to read, unfortunately. I know, A/N updates are kinda against the guidelines, but I think it's necessary in this case.
First of all, I want to apologize for the long wait, and thank everyone for your patience. Last year a lot of things happened, like for many of us I'd assume. My apprenticeship was coming to a close and I had to prepare for finals, then finals came, and then all the Covid things were happening, too.
Now, I have something to report. As I wrote in the last update, I was - and still am - in the process of improving the story. I've made good progress in there so far. However, something unexpected happened in the meantime. I began to write a story with a friend of mine, based on this very story, but entirely new. We deepen upon worldbuilding and play ideas off of each other, and adress a lot of topics, some darker or otherwise more mature in nature. It still is the story of Xerath who got dropped onto Terra, but without following the rails of the game as I have been doing in this fic. As most of you have surely noticed, I have followed the game to the letter, after all, only expanding on it, but not changing what has been there. In this new story, that is not the case. We have the same cast, and the same plot points, but a greatly different, and dare I say unique, story.
Thus, I now bring a question to all of you: Do you want me to continue working on this story, further improving it and curating it, or bring that new writing project into shape to upload it here? Personally, I'm leaning towards the second one, but I'd like to hear the opinion of you readers. I'm also thinking about setting up a poll, though PMs would be preferred, as they offer deeper options for conversation. One thing I should note is that this other story would most likely require a M rating, due to the nature of themes covered there that I haven't really touched upon in this iteration.
Now, I'm admittedly not sure what to say here, since I really didn't think it would come to this when I started with this story project of mine. So, if you have any questions or feedback, please hit me up. What would you guys prefer? Should I try to set up a poll for this? After all, there are so many people reading this, with over 5,5 thousand views as per today. I never would have thought I'd reach that many people when I began putting this out there, and I do not want to just drop off the Earth. Unfortunately, I haven't been isekai'd so far. So, to conclude, even if I repeat myself, please give me some feedback on how to proceed. I don't know what you guys would prefer. This then concludes everything I wanted to say for this update, if not on the story itself, then at least on the state of the story. So I suppose it at least is somewhat within the rules? Eh, whatever.
