"UWAHHH!!! YOU'RE ALIVE!"

I almost stumble down as Marry crashes onto my legs and hug them.

Wiz told me she's been worried since she returned to the shop with Kazuma and Megumin.

I warmly smile and ruffle her head. "Of course I'm alive. I told you, didn't I?" I assure her. She just lifts her head and nods sadly. Wiz walks me back to my room, with Mary trailing along behind. As we arrive, I take a sit on my bed.

"Now Mary, how about I clean you up and let Fajar rest." Wiz said. Mary once again nods and takes Wiz's hand as they're leaving my room. "Just call if you need anything, okay?" She tells me. I only nod as a response.

The two of them leave and I'm alone in my room. I look at myself and no shit, I look really terrible. My clothes are almost torn to pieces, and my body is covered in dirt and dried blood.

"(Sigh) There goes one good pair of clothes. Maybe I should go see the old man and get a few sets of these as spares. " I talk to myself. Just when I decide not to wear my armor that fate seems to envy my nice set of clothes.

I take my tank top and sweat pants and head to the bathroom at the end of the hallway. It's good that Wiz has her own bathroom in her room so I didn't have to wait to use the bathroom. I enter the bathroom, take off my clothes, and took probably the longest bath I had in my life.

"I never thought a bath can feel that good." I let out a sigh, as I land on my bed. I'm already in my nightclothes, and I can feel the weight of sleepiness slowly taking over me. Eventually, I dozed off.

When I open my eyes, I am greeted with a familiar space. "What? Why am I here?" I look around for answers, but then the answer comes in its, or rather on her own.

"I'm sorry for bringing you here again, Fajar." A silhouette appears from the darkness. Slowly, a figure appears from the darkness. "Hi, Eris." I greet the silver-haired goddess, confused as to why am I here.

She just stands there, staring at me. She sighs as she sees that I'm still in the dark about my situation. "You are not dead if that's what you're wondering."

"Okay, that's good to hear. But still, why am I here?" I ask her. She scratches her cheek, trying to think of the right thing to say. "Well... I just want to check on you after what happened today."

Now that surprised me. "How did you know?" I say, somewhat impressed and curious. "You seriously think that the heaven will just let someone who gains their grace run around freely?" Okay, good point.

"Oh, right. Of course. Anyway, I have something to ask. More like a complaint actually." Remembering my injuries from the fight before, I asked, "I thought I had rapid healing? Why did I still hurt badly when fighting those rookie killers?"

Eris just stays silent for a moment before answers, "Your rapid healing still needs time to get used to your body. Think of it as some sort of antibody. The healing will accelerate with time." She explains.

"Well, a heads up would be nice." is what I want to say, but as I opened my mouth, suddenly Eris's expression changes. And let just say, her expression is cold enough for me to stop my thoughts midway.

"Now that we're on this topic..." I just gulp, having no idea Eris can be this terrifying. "WHAT YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?! TAKE ON A PACK OF ROOKIE KILLERS ON YOUR OWN!" She yells at me, her eyes almost break into tears.

Okay, now I feel bad. "I'm... sorry. I just want to make sure my friends escape safely." I say with a hint of guilt. "I promise I will take care of myself more properly next time."

Her anger? Frustration? Whatever it is, it seems to calm down. She's staring dagger at me as she summons her throne and takes a seat. "You better be." She says with a huff.

I let out a relieved sigh as she settled down. "I didn't know that you care about me that much." I suddenly have the guts to tease her, which causes her to fluster. "Of- Of course I care about you. I'm the one who sent you to the world. You gladly took up the task, so this is the least I can do." She answers, avoiding eye contact with me. "A-Anyway, it seems that you're waking up."

Just as she said that my vision Of the world began to darken. Eris's figure started to fade away, and I can feel I'm being pulled out of the space.

I open my eyes as the sunlight flicker through the curtain. "Huh, I guess even goddesses get flustered," I say sheepishly as I get up from my bed.

I get changed before heading downstairs, where Wiz is preparing breakfast and Mary is sitting at the table. "Morning Wiz. Morning Mary." I greet both of them. Mary turned around and exclaims "Good morning!" with a wide grin. Wiz also greets back but, didn't move her focus away from her cooking.

I take a seat at the table and patiently waiting. "Alright then!" Wiz finally finished cooking and place down a plate of berry pancakes. Mary drools over it with wide eyes while I just surprised by the fancy breakfast. "Since today is Mary's last day here, we're having a special breakfast." Wiz announces, which I completely forgot about it after all had happened.

"Oh, that's right. When do they say they will arrive back at Axel again?" I ask Wiz. "Around afternoon if I'm not mistaken." Okay, so that's about five hours more. I finish up my pancakes before getting up from my seat. "Thanks for the food."

"Wait a minute. Where you think you are going?" I look back at Wiz, confused. "To the shop? Where else?" "Oh no. I'll not allow you to work until you're fully recovered."

First Eris, and now Wiz. "(sigh) Wiz, I am fully recovered. I appreciate your sentiment, but I'm fine. I'm truly am!" I try to convince her, but she still persisted.

I argue with her back and forth. It's thoughtful of her to care about my health, but one, I really am fully recovered, thanks to the rapid healing, and two, I didn't want her to worry. She's already worried enough that I fought all the beast on my own, I didn't want to trouble her about my health.

"Okay, can I at least man the counter. I promise I will just sit there, no heavy work or anything. Please, Wiz." I hope my last effort works. After a while of contemplating, she finally gives in and allows me to be in charge of the counter. As soon as she sees I'm doing anything more than that, she'll send me to my room immediately.

What am I? A child?

*KO*NO*SU*BA*

"Excuse me, why is this potion more expensive than this one? They're the same. Are you trying to scam me?" "Ma'am, these potions are literally two different potions." "They look the same to me." "One is red. The other is blue. How can it be the same?" "No, these are violet?"

I almost lost my mind dealing with this shit. I've been dealing with this woman for almost an hour. I'll give anything for her to leave.

"Pardon the intrusion!"

Good timing!

Like a god-sent, Chris comes busting through the front door, alongside Luna from the guild. As soon as her eyes met mine, she immediately gasps. "What do you think you're doing idiot!"

I quickly shoo away the woman, with the excuse of "private adventurer guild business". I didn't know if that's a real thing, heck I didn't even know why Luna is here, but it works for all I care.

As soon as the woman left, I avert my attention back to the two guests. "I'm working, obviously," I say, answering Chris's question earlier. "I can see that! I mean, why are you working now? You should be on your bed resting!"

"Say the person who runs around at night stea-" Before I can finish my sentence, Chris quickly clasps her hand over my mouth. "Alright alright, I get it! You want to work? Suit yourself." Heh, I will pay to see her panicked face like this again.

"Ehem. Well, I'm glad to see you all good and alright, Fajar." Luna clears her throat, reminding us of her presence there. "I'm here on behalf of the guild. It turns out, the rookie killers you killed have some bounties on them, so I'm here to reward you for your service." She explains.

"Oh really? Nice!" I can't help but to show my excitement. I could really use some money to fix my outfit. Who can say no to (not so) easy money?

Luna hands me a pouch full of Eris. And damn, that's the largest amount of money I've seen since my life here. "The guild once again thank you for your service and wish for your speedy recovery." She says professionally.

Luna leaves the shop immediately after, saying there's still some work need to be done at the guild. 'What a hardworking person.' I thought to myself. "Hey, want to see the fruit of my labor last night?" Chris, however, is now sitting on the counter and still hanging out around the shop even there's no reason for her to be here.

"Absolutely not! I don't want any cursed necklace or haunted earrings in this shop!" I don't want to take the risk with God knows what she stole this time. She just blows raspberry at me. "Kill-joy."

She leaps off the counter and about to leave the shop when a little figure emerges from the back of the shop. "Big bro Fajar, I bring some snack-" Mary's eyes met Chris's and for a second, both of them are frozen at each other presence.

"Oh my god aren't you a cutie!" Chris exclaims, startling the poor little girl. "Fajar! I never know Wiz has a kid!"

"Because she don't. That's Mary, the daughter of Wiz's friends. We're taking care of her while her parents are out of town for a business trip." I explain to her, clearing her misunderstanding. Mary, who's seem uncomfortable with Chris loud personality, quickly walk to the counter and put a plate of cookies before hides behind my legs.

I just sigh. She seems comfortable with Kazuma and Megumin though. "Mary, this is Chris, a thief." "Hey, what's with the short intro?! And don't make it misdirected" Before Chris can voice any other of her complaints, I dismiss her out from the shop.

"Alright, thank you for your patronage. Please come again. We're having some guests later, so bye!" I close the door at her face, much to her disapproval. I look back at the counter and Mary seems a bit relief after Chris "leaves".

"So, yeah. That's Chris, she's my friend, so that's why she's a bit too social here." I say to Mary. "Is she a bad person?" Mary's question baffles me. "Why do you say that?" "Mommy said those who steal are bad." Ohhh... I can see where this confusion come from. "She's not an actual thief. It's just her adventurer class. She's a good person I can assure you." I say followed by a chuckle.

Chris may have her flaws, but she's one of the people who help me when I first come to this world. She helps me out even I'm a stranger, heck we never met yet she give me money like it's not a big deal. She keeps hanging out around me after that, introduce me to many people who then become my friends. And that night when we're hiding under the bridge...

*SLAP*

"Wha-What's wrong?" Mary seems concerned when I slap my own face to snap out from my thoughts. She still looks at me weirdly when I proceed to shake my head to get rid of any more weird thought.

I took a deep breath and exhale. "Nothing. Come on, your parents will be here soon."

*BAMM*

"Mary! Mommy's home!"

Rosary barges into the shop, startling me, almost dropping the mysterious vase that I'm wiping.

"I'm here mommy!" The girl's voice is heard from the kitchen. "She's-" Before I can even get another word out from my mouth, the worried mother goose rushes to the kitchen.

"-just finish helping Wiz make some cookies. Well, how's the trip, Brad?" The said man entered the shop after his wife, tiredness almost radiating from him.

"Exhausting. We almost went home with nothing. The local merchant were worried that people wouldn't buy their products because people are afraid to go on a quest because of the Demon Lord's general." He explains, followed by a long sigh.

I place the vase back at its place while the man take a seat at the table that Wiz have already prepared. I went to the kitchen and return with a teapot and a cup. I put the cup in front of Brad and pour him some tea.

"Here, have some honey tea. Good for calming down your body and remove soreness." He took the offer and take a sip of the tea. I continue my work around the shop and Brad seems to enjoy the silence while drinking the tea.

A few minutes later, Wiz, Rosary and Mary return from the kitchen, with the latter holding a plate of freshly baked cookies. The girl seems busy hearing the girl story.

"And there's this amazing wizard lady! She's so cool!" Rosary seems to enjoy hearing her daughter's enthusiasm after being separated from her for a while. Talk about doting mother.

The little girl sees her father at the table and rushes to him. She put the cookie and the table and climb onto a chair next to him. "Daddy! Daddy! Guess what? I get to see explosion magic!" "That's nice dear- wait, explosion magic?" Brad, who's not paying too much attention since he's enjoying his tea, turn his head almost instantly at the mention of Megumin's speciality magic. I, on the other hand completely forget about it and try to slowly sneak my way out of there.

"Yeah! It's so beautiful! It destroy the castle! And the wizard lady is asleep after that but not really. We went back home but there's these scary monsters! Big bro Fajar fought them and he wins! But he's very hurt so I'm a bit sad but not anymore! 'Cause he's strong!"

"Explosion? Castle? Monster?"

As I almost make my way into the kitchen, a hand snatches my shirt from behind.

'Oh God have mercy on me!'

I slowly turn my head around and met a sinister smile by none other than Brad. "I think we have a lot to talk about."

'Scrap mercy. I will need protection!'

*KO*NO*SU*BA*

After almost getting killed by Brad (thank goodness Rosary talk to him over), the couple continues telling us about their trip, which according to Mary not as exciting as her adventure.

"Say, Fajar. I see that Mary had become quite fond of you." Rosary says as Wiz pours her another cup of tea. I just smile sheepishly while scratching my head. Mary, on the other hand, perks up while nodding. "Big bro said I can become an adventurer!"

I almost choked on my tea as the atmosphere become so cold, that I can swear shivers literally run down my spine. "Oh, did he now?"

If looks can kill (and if I can die), I would be dead a hundred times. I thought Brad was terrified enough when angry, well I'm wrong as heck. If Brad is like an angry papa bear, Rosary is like a dragon guarding her hoards. A simple smile yet masking layers of threat.

I look at Brad, begging for help but he just shrugs while mouthing some that I'm sure he's saying I dig my own grave.

Mary, who's oblivious with her mother's hostility towards me, continues to eagerly nodding. "Yeah! He said that he will defeat the Demon King so that I can adventure safely!"

Hearing that, Rosary calm down a bit, and her scary looks fades away. The atmosphere feels more lighter than before and I let out my breath that I didn't realize I have been holding. "Well, if he says so. I'm sure he will keep his promise, right Fajar?"

"Of-Of course!" Satisfied with my response, Rosary continues to enjoy his tea while Rosary talking about when she's helping Wiz make the cookies. I glance at Brad, who just give me a thumbs up. That man I swear...

We talk for some more until Brad and Rosary realize it's late already. Even Mary can barely keep her eyes open.

Brad and Rosary, who's carrying the sleepy girl, excuse themselves to leave and make a promise to come visit again. Brad even stated that they will like to come again since there is a free babysitter here, which I'm not sure how to take it.

The family of three leaves the shop, and I start to help Wiz closing the shop. We have dinner afterwards and then I hit the shower before resting in my room, lying down on my bed while thinking about what just happened earlier.

"Defeat the Demon King huh? Easier said than done." I say to no one. I know that I agree to be transported to this place to help defeat the Demon King, but after the fight with the rookie killers few days ago, I realized that I'm a hundred years too early to say that I can do it.

"I need to become stronger." I say those words, clenching my raised hand.

I need to be stronger.

To protect others.

To fight others.

To fulfill my promise.

To return to my life.

"I will definitely defeat the Demon King."
