This is the 33rd chapter. This chapter is where we focus on Usopp meeting the bounty hunter, Daddy 'the Father', while learning the fact that he met the Red-Haired pirate and Shanks marksman, Yasopp.

Showdown at High! Usopp vs. Daddy 'the Father'!

Loguetown

With the Marines and the Clown pirates are on pursuit to find Luffy, the rubber Captain is heading towards the execution platform after taking a long nap, but he got himself lost since the city is so big, it's like entering a labyrinth. At the Marine HQ, Sergeant Major Tashigi rush towards the HQ while having a serious meeting with her Captain which he's propping his boots on the desk while reading the newspaper as she spoke.

"Captain Smoker! If this Luffy guy is still somewhere on the island, then we need to blockade the boards immediately!" Tashigi told her Captain with her serious expression, slamming the desk.

"There's no need to worry." Smoker shrugs.

"And why is that?" Tashigi questions.

"Stop! You can't go in there!"

"The Captain's in the meeting!"

That noise is coming from the outside of the Captain's room which it got both Tashigi and Smoker's attention since the meeting is interrupted. When the door opens, Tashigi and Smoker saw a western bounty hunter carrying three thugs around his shoulders.

He has an appearance of a tall man with a seemingly lean build, large sideburns, mustache, and goatee style beard. He had a theme similar to the western style of cowboys and bounty hunters in the 19th century, wore a signature cowboy bucket hat which had a usual gunner theme that most outlaws and bounty hunters in the west known to possess, fingerless gloves and dons a cloak with several guns strapped to it along with his shirt and pants, symbolizing his status as a sniper.

He then place the newspaper down as the cowboy spoke.

"How are you doing, Smoker?" He asks with a gruff voice.

"Well if it isn't Daddy." Smoker said seriously, leaving him drop three thugs down to the floor.

"Here's 'Two-Pistol' Pete and 'Cop Killer' Riley Brothers." Daddy informed him.

"And all three have bounties?" Smoker questions.

"No, all four. I dropped a brother off at the morgue." Daddy told him, approaches the Captain while extends a clipboard to him, "If you wouldn't mind signing for them, I'd sure appreciate it."

"A million berries for four guys." Smoker said, looking thorough the clipboard as he look for the pen. "Times are tough."

"The work maybe cheap, but it's steady. I'm fine bringing in a little fish that move through these waters. I'm not really interested in heading out to sea to chase that one big catch." Daddy told him when Smoker signed it, extends the clipboard to the bounty hunter.

"The Marines best sniper reduced to being a common street cleaner, it's sad." Smoker stated, but Daddy ignored that comment as he then leave the Marine HQ.

"I don't want to risk my life anymore." Daddy said.

"Because if you died, that daughter of yours will end on a street, right?" Smoker asks, leaving Daddy wave at him. "Tell Carol I said, hi."

"Sure, I'll tell her uncle Smokey said hello." Daddy nods as he left the Marine HQ.

"That was Daddy Masterson, the bounty hunter." Tashigi said with shock.

"Yeah, we enlisted at the same time." Smoker explains. "He was one of the elite, a natural with a gun. I was sure he was bound for great things."

"Then why is he just a bounty hunter?" Tashigi asks as Smoker then starts explaining to her.

Meanwhile at the streets, Zoro is looking at the new swords he just bought a while ago, mostly Kitetsu III with an impressed smirk.

"A cursed sword, interesting." Zoro said.

"Hey." Luffy called, making the swordsman spooked. "That's a really cool sword."

"Don't sneak up on me." Zoro scolds his captain as he sheathe his sword.

"So why are you just sitting here, Zoro?" Luffy questions.

"Because I'm bored, you?" Zoro counters with a question.

"Oh, me?" Luffy hummed in thought. "Yeah, I'm completely lost."

"And that's a good thing?" Zoro rhetorically questions with a sweat drop.

"It's okay." Luffy shrugs simply.

Until, a group of thugs saw Daddy Masterson walk towards the alley as they rush towards the bounty hunter, earned Luffy and Zoro's attention while making a scene from the crowd. Daddy stopped when he saw a group of thugs surrounding him.

"What's up?" Luffy asks with confusion, watching the scene.

"Bastard! You sold out our friends to the highest bitter!"

"It's time for you to pay!"

"Now die!"

When the group of thugs drew out their pistols as they were about to fire, Daddy quick draw his pistols while firing at them. In a few seconds of silence, four thugs were down, except one, leaving Luffy and Zoro shocked while the last thug trembles and collapse down to the ground with a frightened look on his face. Daddy then turned his head to him, approaches the last thug while grab hold of the cigarette, crushing it as he spoke.

"Why don't you run on home, kid, and see if your mom's got supper ready?" Daddy suggests seriously, dropping the cigarette as the thug then flees.

"Whoa, Zoro, that guy is totally awesome!" Luffy exclaims with excitement and amazed, flailing his arms.

"I think that's, yep." Zoro said, recognize the bounty hunter, leaving Luffy confused. "Daddy 'the Father', bounty hunter."

Meanwhile, Usopp is wandering around in Loguetown with a smile on his face while carrying his huge-sized backpack that was full of junk, gizmos, and knick-knacks. The crowd must've think that he's crazy for carrying something that huge.

"I got everything I need." Usopp said proudly with a chuckle. "I'm completely prepared for whatever the sea can throw at me, there isn't anything Usopp, 'Brave Warrior' can face now!? Uh, wait a minute, I think I'm forgetting something important. That's it, a First Class Sniper like myself should really have a top-self pair of goggles to look through. I'm gonna get the best pair I can find, I don't care what they cost unless it's more than I can afford. Super Goggles, Here I Come!"

With that, Usopp rush towards another shop to look for the goggles which he found it as he test it out, impressed of the design as he then readied his slingshot for a test drive just to see better which it worked.

"These are them. These are the ones, they're perfect." Usopp said with a smile, placing the goggles on the desk. "Hey lady!"

"Those are brand new, they're the top of the line model from North Blue company. Oh, and the import ship I get them from stops here at port once a year." The shopkeeper explains, frowns when she notice Usopp looking through her pockets. "Hey, don't you have any money? What's wrong with you? I just give these away!"

"No, I...that's right! My backpack!" Usopp exclaims as he rush towards his backpack.

Until, a little girl came inside of the shop, buying the goggles that Usopp was about to buy it.

She's a little young girl with blonde hair and blue eyes. She has a dark green bow at the top of her head, wore a light green dress.

"I'll take those." She told the shopkeeper with a smile, causing him to face fault down to the floor.

"Oh, excellent choice! And what a cute little girl, I happen to know that these are the only goggles of there kind on the whole island." The shopkeeper explains.

"No! Those Are My Goggles! Drop Them!" Usopp yelled with white eyes and shark-like teeth, pointing at the little girl, but confused as the little girl approaches him.

"You snooze you lose, grandpa." The little girls insults, leaving Usopp yelped while collapse down to the floor as she then leave the shop.

"Huh, grandpa?" Usopp repeats, feel insulted.

The little girl happily skips along with a glee while Usopp then sprint his way towards her.

"LITTLE GIRL! STOP RIGHT THERE!" Usopp yelled when he caught up to her, causing her to stop. "There is no way you could possibly think I'm an old man! I'm more like an older brother, right?"

"Well, you smell like an old man." The little girl said with a deadpan look on her face.

"I AM NOT OLD! JUST GIVE ME BACK THOSE GOGGLES! I FOUND THEM FIRST! THEY'RE MINE! THEY'RE MINE! THEY'RE MINE-"

"Yeah." She said with a scowl, had enough of his ranting as she put her foot down. "You better watch your mouth cuz', I'm friends with the Marines and I'll get them to beat you up!?"

"The-The Marines!?" Usopp exclaims.

"That's right." The little girl answered with a smile, causing him to sweat drop. "And their Captain is a close personal friend of my families, he's kind of like my uncle."

"Why you little!?" Usopp growled with annoyance, come up with an idea which it's a lie. "Hah! I'm a great Captain too, Arlong Park was destroyed by these two hands. I was surrounds by hundreds of fishmen and the last thing they ever saw was Captain Usopp, the Incredible, doing such amazing and terrible things. They were glad to quickly meet their end. Now I have a bounty of 30 million berries on my head, so Marines don't scare me."

"Oh, 30 million berries, huh?" The little girl asks with a evil smirk.

"That's right!?" Usopp lied with a proud smile, leaving her giggled.

"Papa." The little girl called her father, waving at him.

"Don't call me 'Papa'! I'm not your daddy!" Usopp shouts, but got ignored when the little girl run towards Daddy Masterson.

"I've bought a present for you." The little girl said happily, extends the goggles to Daddy Masterson. "Happy Birthday, papa!"

"Oh my girl." Daddy said to her daughter as he starts to soften up his expression, blushed and showed his big eyes. "Carol, you are absolutely the most angelic little girl a father could ask for."

"I love you so much, papa." Carol said to her father.

'What's with that girl!?' Usopp mentally exclaims with shock as Carol then look at the liar with a scowl.

"But papa, that silly old man over there is being mean and trying to jack your present." Carol whines.

"Now, now, don't say 'jack' dear, it's not right for a proper young girl." Daddy told his daughter as he turn to him with a deep scowl, leaving Usopp scared. "Are you the gentleman that's been bothering my adorable little daughter."

Usopp is trying to deny which he's too scared and for the worse case scenario is that, he's been bothering Carol.

"There's something else." Carol told him when she tug the cloak, earned his attention as she whispered to his ear. "There's a bounty of 30 million berries."

It got Daddy's attention when his daughter informs him about the bounty, but apparently, the bounty is mostly Luffy's bounty which he doesn't know that.

"A bounty worth 30 million, huh?" Daddy said seriously, leaving Usopp chuckled nervously as he gathered the list of bounties from his cloak. "Let's take a look."

"Oh, are those a new bad guys?" Carol asks curiously.

"Yeah, I just pick them up today." Daddy told her as he look through the bounties. "600...1.3 million...700...Ah 30 million, Monkey D. Luffy. For a first bounty, that's impressive."

Usopp was about to flee, but the bounty hunter notice as he spoke.

"Where are you going?" Daddy questions, leaving Usopp yelp while take a stumble.

"Okay, that's not me! I'm not the guy in the poster, I was just trying to pretend to be a bad guy." Usopp tried to make an excuse, but Daddy and Carol weren't buying it. "Bye-bye now, see ya, I'm outta here, crap!"

"That's you." Daddy points out when he points the photo of the back of his head, leaving Usopp in big trouble.

"Okay, you caught me again, but just try and lay a hand on me! You'll see what happens! My Captain Luffy won't sit idly by and watch one of his crew in danger!" Usopp warned him which it's an obvious lie. "He's a cold-blooded soulless demon from the very pits of hell itself. You can't even imagine the pain that he can inflict. You've got your daughter to worry about, why risk your life over it?"

"You're right, it's not worth it." Daddy agrees seriously. "Anyone worth 30 million berries on his head is no ordinary man. That's for sure."

"Papa, you can beat him! You're the strongest man ever, and you're not afraid of anyone." Carol points out her father.

"Darling, I don't have to prove anything, I just need to get by with enough to keep us happy. So long as you think I'm the greatest, that's all that matters to me, understand?" Daddy told her daughter, leaving Carol surprised.

'I scared him off just like that? I guess I don't know how truly terrifying I am. Time to flex.' Usopp thought with confident smirk as he spoke. "I'm glad you came to your senses, fool. Now give me my goggles and just maybe I'll let you escape with you life."

That got Carol turned her head to him was a scowl in her eyes as he spoke with a chuckle.

"Don't worry, I'm gonna pay for them. I'm a killer not a thief, now give them here!" Usopp demands.

"He's letting you go, old man. If I were you, I'd be running for my life-"

Daddy however raise her arm to his daughter, assured her not to say any further as he spoke.

"Okay, fine." Daddy accepts. "If that's how you want it, let's settle this dispute like gentlemen."

"Gentlemen?" Usopp repeats with confusion.

"Here." Daddy offered, tossing the pistol to him.

"A duel?" Usopp said, realized as he raise the pistol. "Yeah, I think I can manage that."

"If you win, then the goggles are yours." Daddy suggests, pulling his cloak while revealing the variety of pistols around him, leaving Usopp shocked.

"2, 3, 4, 6...30 pistols!?" Usopp exclaims, scream with his face pale. "That's the same of guns as, DADDY 'THE FATHER'!?"

"Yep, that's me." Daddy said with a smirk.

Meanwhil, Nami, Ventus, and Anna were strolling around town when the crowd were heading to the scene when they heard about the duel between Daddy Masterson and Usopp, much to the navigators confusion which everybody knows that Daddy 'the Father' is the greatest gunslinger in the bounty hunting history and he never lost a single duel. The three were following the crowd, trying to find out who is dueling Daddy Masterson which happens to be Usopp.

"Oh that kind." Nami said with annoyance.

"Usopp?" Ventus said with confusion.

One of the crowds told wishes him luck while laughing because they've got a hole ready for burying Usopp, leaving him scared.

'What the hell just happened? Why am I dueling this guy?' Usopp mentally questions, trembling his body.

"Simple rules, walk ten paces and fire." Daddy told him.

"Okay." Usopp understands.

"What the hell are you doing?!" Nami shouts, earned his attention. "It looks like you're facing Daddy, 'the Father' in a duel! Are you nuts?!"

"You're not helping! You never have anything nice to say!" Usopp retorts.

"Hey! We're not the ones who cause trouble!" Ventus shouts at him with annoyance. "Besides, you're the one that got into this mess in the first place!?"

'Crap, he's right!' Usopp mentally thought with his mouth agape.

"So this...is Usopp?" Anna asks curiously.

"Unfortunately." Ventus answered with a sigh.

"You get one shot. Are you ready?" Carol questions, leaving Daddy accepts while Usopp reluctantly accepts as she raise her hand. "1..."

Daddy then steps forward while Usopp did the same.

"2..."

They step forward again.

"3..."

And again.

"4..."

And again, but Usopp is too scared to die.

"5..."

They step forward again.

'What am I doing? This sucks, I'm so stupid! There's no way I could beat him!?' Usopp mentally exclaims.

"And 6..."

They then step forward.

'I'm gonna die now! This can't be happening!?' Usopp mentally shouts.

"7..."

They step forward.

'I can't believe it!? My adventure is just beginning and I'm already gonna die! Who'd thought it would come to this?!' Usopp whines as he swallow a lump on his throat.

"8..."

When they step forward, Usopp then pull out a smoke pellet as he throw it down to ground to make a smoke appear. As he was about to run for his life, Daddy then quick draw his pistol, fires at the pistol as the liar then stops in his tracks, trembles while the smoke clears. Usopp then collapse down to his knees with frightful look on his face.

"Papa, that was awesome!?" Carol praise her father, rushing towards him. "You're the best!"

Then, the crowd left with disappointment which they thought Usopp would lose, but he cheats to flee for his life which it didn't work.

"I just shot the cowards gun away." Daddy told his daughter.

"What were you thinking!? Have you no shame? Cheating during the duel! You should ashamed of yourself, it's pathetic!" Carol shouts as the liar angrily.

"I'm so sorry, forgive me!" Usopp pleads while turn to the two. "I'm just really too scared to die this young! Killing me would be too easy for you, right?! So please, don't shoot me! You could just let me go, couldn't you?"

Daddy then drew his pistol, aiming at him as he stumbled back while Nami decides to cut in.

"No wait." Nami said.

"Nami." Usopp said, smiled at Daddy. "If you want money, my friend here has tons of-OW!?"

"You said enough, Usopp." Ventus growled with annoyance when he bonked his head, leaving him a bump on his head. "Do you have any idea how much trouble you caused?!"

"Me! I was trying to run for my life!" Usopp retorts, but the young Dragoon raise his eyebrow which he's not buying it. "What more do you want me to say?!"

"What I can tell is that you got in trouble by lying the them right from the beginning, Usopp?!" Ventus yelled at him, dilating his eyes into a dragon eyes with anger. "Dammit, Usopp! Didn't I tell you that lies can only get you into trouble!?"

Usopp then flinched a bit with fright, but knew that he's right about lying will get into trouble. He then lowered his head down in shame. Ventus was about to speak some more, but Anna placed her hand on his shoulder as she spoke.

"Ventus, you proved your point, calm down." Anna assured him.

"So, now you're cowering by telling lies to them." Daddy said with a scowl.

Usopp then turned his expression into serious as he stood up and spoke.

"No, leave them out of this! They have nothing to do with it, I'm the one that got myself into this situation! And no one can get me out of it! It's all on me!" Usopp declared.

"Usopp." Nami said surprisingly, leaving Daddy shocked.

"'Usopp', did she just call you 'Usopp'?" Daddy questions.

"Yes." Usopp answered.

"Can't be." Daddy said, leaving Usopp confused. "You wouldn't by any chance know a man by the name of Yasopp of the Red-Haired pirates, would you?"

"Yasopp, that's my dads name." Usopp told him. "Wait, are you saying that you and my father are friends?"

"So then you are his son." Daddy said surprisingly, leaving Carol also surprised. "I met your dad and I've never spoke in a single word to anyone about that fateful day, until now that is. We met in a hot dry port of call on a day very much like today."

He then begin to tell him that he and Yasopp have fought once years ago which it was a duel. When they fire, a few minutes of silent have past as Yasopp stumbled a bit with a smirk while Daddy collapse down to the ground which he lost the duel. Yasopp was about to finish him, but notice a locket around his neck as he grab hold of it, looking at the photo of Carol which Daddy Masterson is the father, not expecting Marine would treasure something like that, meaning that Daddy Masterson is special. Of course, he asks Yasopp of how would know about it, given him answer since he told him that he had a son named Usopp which he haven't seen him in years. He also told him that he left his son just when he started walking, but he loved him plenty and thinks about him. However, he loves sailing at sea as a pirate more which it maybe too late for him to do anything for Usopp, but it's not too late for Daddy because Carol deserves to have a parent with her by her side. Daddy then shouts at Yasopp to get him to kill him, but the pirates refuses to do so because the Marines have to follow the rules and do everything by the book, but a pirate can do whatever they want as Yasopp and the Red-Haired pirates left, leaving Daddy alone.

When he finished explaining to Usopp, she then spoke.

"So that's why you left the Marines to become a bounty hunter." Nami said. "It all make sense now."

"Which is why you kept it a secret from your daughter ever since." Anna added.

"Papa, no! A pirate didn't spare your life! Tell me it's not true?!" Carol whines, not wanted to believe. "Tell me you killed him, right?"

"Usopp, wow! Your father must've been amazing, he beat Daddy 'the Father'. He hasn't forgotten you either, even now he's traveling somewhere is the sea. He has an image of his little toddler boy that he left behind." Nami said with amazement, but Usopp raise his arm. "Usopp?"

Usopp then shed in tears, realize why Yasopp have spared him years ago and never forgets about his only son. Even Ventus knew that look on his face.

"It's okay, we understand." Nami assures him.

"There's no way that you could. That's not why I'm crying, there's more to it!" Usopp told her. "I get it! I understand why you tell me that story about my father, you told me that so I would try to be more like him!?"

Carol then turned her head to him with confusion and surprised.

"You embarrassed yourself for me, you put yourself beneath me so that I would know what type of man my father was, I'll never forget that!" Usopp stated sadly. "Most people would just bury that story and never tell it to anyone, but you, you're not afraid of anything. Even shame, a coward would never do what you just did!"

Nami and Ventus were surprised about him as he turned his head to Carol as he spoke to her.

"Carol, your dad is the bravest man alive! Men who are big and strong are easy to find, but the ones who their honor on the line for others are one and a million!" Usopp tearfully told her, turned his head to Ventus. "Ventus, even after what has happen to your parents, your father is the greatest Dragon King! He would do anything by having humans and dragons live together in Ishgard, but he couldn't because of what those cruel uncles have done! If anything, both your father and your mother would be proud of you and they feel honored to join them in the stars!"

Both Carol and Ventus widened their eyes with shock.

"I can't! If I accept your dads mercy, it'll only bring him more shame! I have one choice and that is to face my death!" Usopp declared, wiping his tears. "Give me another chance! I have to prove to myself that I'm not a coward! A life or death, fight!"

Daddy was surprised of Usopp, but didn't show it which he can tell that he's serious about it instead of lying or using that as an excuse. He then closed his eyes and spoke.

"Alright, choose the weapon you feel most comfortable with. This will be our final duel." Daddy accepts as Usopp then get his slingshot out of his satchel. "Good now, let's see..."

Daddy then scan the area, see that weathervane as he points that direction and spoke.

"You must hit that weathervane." Daddy told him.

"What? That?" Usopp questions shockingly, looking at the weathervane as Daddy points the pistol at him.

"If you miss." Daddy warned him.

"Right, you'll shoot me through the heart." Usopp accepts, turned his head to the weathervane. "So this shot determine whether I live or die with honor."

Usopp then placed his goggles on while readied his slingshot, aiming at the weathervane. He was feeling a bit nervous and tense, trying to relax a little as he then fires his iron pellet at the weathervane. Usopp then lowered his slingshot which they were shocked. Ventus then use his Dragon Sight to see if he shoot it or missed, looking far ahead when he saw a hole on the crown which the young Dragoon was stunned.

"You've missed." Nami muttered as Carol rush towards her father.

"Please don't kill him papa, please no." Carol begs, but Daddy was stunned.

"He didn't miss." Ventus said, earned their attention. "He shoot right through the crown."

"He's right, I can't shoot him cuz' he shot right through the crown." Daddy agrees, leaving them surprised as Nami look through the telescope.

"You did it, Usopp! They're right!?" Nami exclaims happily.

"Good job." Carol praise him, leaving Usopp sighed with relief.

"You're as good as shot as your old man and a brave one as well." Daddy added, earned his attention. "Your father would be proud, go to the Grand Line. You'll find him there."

Usopp widened his eyes with shocked expression when Daddy encouraged him to go.

"He deserves to see what his son has become." Daddy said.

"Daddy." Usopp muttered when Carol approaches him, given him the sniper goggles.

"You're pretty good shot, old man." Carol compliments him, leaving Ventus snickered a little.

"Thanks." Usopp thanked her as she then leaves along with Daddy. Ventus then approaches him as he spoke.

"Sorry I lash out on you." Ventus apologize, earned his attention. "It wasn't right for me to take that anger out on you."

"It's fine, I pretty much deserve that." Usopp nods with a smile. "And you're right, telling lies can get into a lot trouble which I get that a lot though."

"People say Daddy, 'the Father' is a disgrace to the Marines, at least we'll know the real story." Anna told them with a smile.

"My father will see me as a true warrior someday. You'll see, I'll be as brave as Daddy, 'the Father'." Usopp added with a smile. "And I will make my father proud. I know it."

With that, Nami, Usopp, Ventus, and Anna then left to find the rest of the crew so they can leave Loguetown.
