Truth of the Lost Island! Roronoa Zoro vs Eric 'The Whirlwind'

Lost Island, Ruins

The Straw Hat Pirates, Grandpa Ryu, and Apis were looking up at the ceiling, notice the paintings that might a clue about the Lost Island and Dragons Nest.

"Oh man, that painting is so huge." Luffy said with amazement. "I wonder what its up?"

"It looks kind of a map to me." Usopp stated, stood up with a groan.

Nami, Ventus, and Anna were looking at the paintings and notice that Usopp is right about it, it's a map that lead to the Dragons Nest and it has pictures about them.

"Maybe, but its so worn out it doesn't make much sense." Sanji stated with confusion. "What is this place anyway? Wasn't this suppose to be the Dragons Nest?"

"I don't know." Luffy shrugs, turned to Apis. "Apis, do you know?"

Apis looks at Grandpa Ryu, then turned to the Straw Hat pirates as she spoke.

"I don't." Apis answered. "Grandpa Ryu says he doesn't know what it is, either."

"Oh man, are all Millennial Dragons as useless as he is?" Usopp questions with an insult.

"Take That Back!?" Apis shouts.

"I'm only telling the truth." Usopp lied.

"Oh yeah! How exactly are you being useful?!" Apis retorts with a question, leaving Usopp gawked.

Luffy notice the piece of the ceiling, looking at it as he spoke.

"Hey guys, check this out." Luffy called them. "A piece of this ceiling fell here."

It got their attention when they look at the piece of the ceiling, notice the painting of a dragon.

"Yikes." Usopp said.

"It's huge." Apis added as she and Usopp walk towards Luffy while looking at the painting.

"This whole thing is falling apart." Usopp told him while Nami, Ventus, and Anna look at the piece for a few seconds, looking back at the ceiling. "Um, speaking of which, isn't it dangerous to be walking around this place? I don't know about you, but I don't want to get flatten like a pancake. Come on, let's get outta here."

Nami, Ventus, and Anna then begin to realize when they notice the images of the paintings, recalled that Grandpa Ryu have mention that the Dragons Nest will rise. The thing about it was that, it was hidden and not sink which it could only mean one thing.

"No, we can't! This might be the Dragons Nest!" Apis declares seriously.

"I don't see any dragons hanging around here, do you?" Usopp rhetorically questions with deadpan expression.

"Hold on a second." Nami said, earned their attention.

"What is it Nami dear?" Sanji asks.

"This island that we're on, I don't think it's Lost Island." Nami told them, leaving Apis confused.

"You see?" Usopp asked, earned a tick mark from Apis.

"YOU DON'T KNOW THAT FOR SURE! SO WHY DON'T YOU SHUT YOUR BIG TRAP!?" Apis yelled, showed her white eyes.

"So, what makes you think this isn't Lost Island?" Luffy questions.

"It's the ceiling, look up." Anna answered, causing them to look up at the ceiling. "Usopp is right, it is a map and it marks the location of the Lost Island. Do you see that island with dome-shaped building? That's this island and that building is where we are right now."

"They do look the same." Sanji said.

"And those figures that surrounds the island, they're people." Ventus added. "I bet that they're the ones who use to inhabit this island long ago. If nothing else, they're Apis' ancestors."

"'Ancestors'?" Apis repeats.

"Don't you remember this story Old Man Bokuden told us?" Nami asks.

"Nope, I was asleep." Luffy shrugs.

"He said: The people of Warship Island were the descendants of the people who came from Lost Island.'" Nami told him.

"Oh, did he?" Luffy asks, tilt his head slightly.

"Come to think of it, that does sound kind of familiar." Usopp said, raise his eyebrow. "Then does that mean the Dynasty of Kings he kept babbling on and on about was on this island?"

"Probably." Nami answered, unsure. "What got me wondering were the dragon statues and iconography we saw all over the island, it was so much. That seems to indicate that the people who lived here probably worshipped the Millennial Dragons as Gods. I bet they've made those icons in the image of the dragons that use to fly over this island long ago."

"I see." Usopp realized as he, Luffy, and Apis look at the painting. "Well if that's true, then that would lower the chance of the Dragons Nest being on this island."

"Not quite, Usopp." Ventus shook his head. "The Dragons Nest is never here to begin with. Grandpa Ryu said that the Dragons Nest will surface, but he never mentions anything about it being hidden. Even if it is, shouldn't this island be in the ocean when we went through that storm?"

The young Dragoon brings up a good point about the Dragons Nest which it make sense if it located on the Lost Island.

"Then, where could the real Dragons Nest be?" Apis asked.

"Wouldn't it be on the island with the dragon drawing on it?" Zoro asked seriously, causing them to look at the ceiling.

"You're right." Nami realized, agreed with Zoro. "Look, where those people are praying? Just ahead of them is another island, and there's a dragon image. That's the real Lost Island. The Dragons Nest must be there, but-"

It got Apis realize what Nami means when she look at the image, turned her head to the navigator as she spoke.

"Wait a minute, that can't be!?" Apis exclaims with shock. "That island shape-"

"Yeah." Nami interrupts, know the answer. "I know, but if that map on the ceiling is correct, then the only place that Dragons nest can be is on Warship Island."

"Now that you mention it, Grandpa Ryu did say that Lost Island is somewhere at the East of Warship Island, right?" Ventus questions.

"Yeah, why?" Luffy questions.

"If he said that, HE MOST LIKELY MEANT NEXT TO THE WARSHIP ISLAND! NOT SOMEWHERE IN THE EAST, YOU IDIOTS!" Ventus yelled at them, punching them silly.

"But Nami said that there was no Dragons Next on Warship Island." Usopp complains, rubbing his sore head.

"It might still be hidden in the ocean. Just because it wasn't there, doesn't mean that it's never there." Anna told him. "Grandpa Ryu said it himself: 'Lost Island will surface again'. Which means we were in too much of a rush mostly because the Marines were on to us, and was assume that it's somewhere else."

"And that's what the map said, it's as plain as day." Nami added. "What? Do you think I'd just made up or something?"

"Come on guys, Nami's our navigator, Anna's a ranger, and Ventus survived longer than any of us, if anyone can read a map, it's them." Sanji stated seriously. "This means the Dragons Nest is somewhere on Warship Island. If we look hard enough, we'll find it."

"Even we do head back to Warship Island, it might still be at sea." Ventus reminded the cook. "There's no telling when the Dragons Nest will rise."

"He's right, which it explains why no one has ever found the nest after all these years." Nami agrees.

After Nami said that, Apis rush towards Grandpa Ryu as she spoke.

"Grandpa Ryu! Think back, Grandpa Ryu! Where's the Dragons Nest at?! We thought it was at this place, but its not!? The only we found here is an old painting! Does it bring back any memories to you at all?! The only hope we have left is that you remember! Please, Grandpa Ryu! You have to remember! You just have to!"

After Apis pleading Grandpa Ryu, he looked up the ceiling, trying to remember more about the Dragons Nest. As he tries to remember, some of the birds flew in. As they flies up towards the ceiling and towards him, Grandpa Ryu widened his eyes, remembering the Millennial Dragons did fly up the Lost Island, migrating towards the Warship Island.

"Grandpa?" Apis asks in confusion.

"Okay, so the Dragons Nest really is on Warship Island." Luffy spoke up.

"How did you know what he said, Luffy?" Apis asks surprisingly.

"Don't know, just do." Luffy shrugs, leaving Apis look at the Millennial Dragon.

"You're right, Grandpa Ryu said: He just remembered." Apis told him. "He says: The Dragons Nest is located on an island, east of the peek just like a Warship."

"Ventus was right." Nami said surprisingly.

"I just have a hunch that it might be there." Ventus admits.

"Perfect, why couldn't he remember that before we risked out lives to get here, huh?" Usopp asks with a sigh.

"I'm sorry." Apis apologize, earned their attention. "I'm sorry for dragging you all the way out here and for something that probably has already sink into the bottom of the ocean. It was all for nothing."

"I wouldn't say that." Ventus said, earned her attention. "If you hadn't dragged us all the way here on this island, we wouldn't be finding some clues about the Dragons Nest. And since we're helping you finding the Dragons Nest, we just have to get back to Warship Island and find it."

"He's right." Usopp nods with an agreement, smiled. "Who knows? The Dragons Nest could be someplace else on Warship Island. But we won't know unless we look for it, right?"

Apis is surprised when those two don't give up on finding the Dragons Nest.

"They're right." Nami said, earned her attention. "Besides, given up so easily isn't like you, Apis."

"If you fall down in life, you just have to get right back up." Sanji added with a smirk.

"Yeah, you shouldn't ever give up hope, kid." Zoro agrees with a smirk.

Anna then give her a nod with a smile on her face, leaving Apis speechless and stunned when the Straw Hat pirates told them to never give up hope. Luffy then chuckle a bit as he spoke.

"Let's go. I mean, you do want Grandpa Ryu to get better, don't you?" Luffy asks, pump his fists.

Apis then smiled, given him a nod as she spoke.

"Thank you." Apis thanked the Straw Hat pirates.

When the Straw Hat pirates were about to leave the island, they heard footsteps that was coming from above. Zoro, Ventus, and Anna readied their weapons.

"Guys, what's wrong?" Nami asks with worry.

"Someone's here." Zoro answered.

"His scent is from above." Ventus added, sniffing the air.

The Straw Hat pirates and Apis look up at the hole and see a figure here which it was none other than Eric 'The Whirlwind'.

"Thank you deciphering the intricacies of that map. Well done." Eric thanked them with an evil smirk. "Now I can find the Dragonite and the nest as well."

"It's the 'Sicko'!?" Luffy exclaims, leaving Anna stifle her laugh.

"But there's no point if it's at the bottom of the ocean. It looks like my only option now is to take your Millennial Dragon." Eric declares.

"No Way!" Apis shouts. "We Don't Even Know If The Nest Really Sinks! So You Stay Away From Him, You Jerk!?"

"You better let us handle him, he's got Sickle-Sickle fruit powers." Sanji told them. "This is one nasty guy we've got here."

"Sickle-Sickle?! Him? He's got Devil Fruit powers too?!" Usopp questions with shock when Zoro walk pass them.

"Luffy." Zoro called him, earned his attention. "You guys go on ahead and get Grandpa Ryu to the ship. I'll catch up with you later."

With that, Luffy understood that order as he smiled and spoke.

"Gotcha." Luffy complies.

"Whoa, hold on! Wait a minute, get to the ship!" Usopp exclaims. "How? I don't see any exit here, do you?"

"Then I guess I'll...MAKE ONE!?" Luffy suggested as he rush towards the wall, passing through his crew as he headbutts his wall, sent him flying down to the ground which it didn't work.

'What did he plan to accomplish by doing that?' Ventus mentally questions with a sweat drop.

"It didn't break." Luffy grunts. "Maybe I should've thought that through before doing it."

"Really? You think so?" The Straw Hat pirates and Apis asks in unison with annoyance and a sweat drop.

But what's unexpected was that instead of the wall Luffy headbutted into, the wall next to it collapsed, leaving Sanji and Usopp shocked.

"There's our exit." Luffy proclaimed with a smile and chuckled as he walk past his crew. "See, we worked it out somehow. Come on Apis, let's go."

"He's hard-headed, but this is ridiculous." Sanji said with annoyance.

"No you don't!" Eric shouts as he jumps down.

Zoro then charges after the mercenary as Eric was close enough to land, clashing against each other. Luffy is looking at the piece of the painting upside down, now looks at the ceiling.

"Dammit, Luffy! Would you quit gawking and get outta here already!?" Zoro yelled at Luffy, keeping Eric occupied.

"Oh, my bad." Luffy said simply.

As soon as the rest of the Straw Hat pirates and Apis are on Grandpa Ryu's back, Luffy grabbed the rope to Grandpa Ryu's cart and ran through the wall he created, dragging them with him. When he did that, they were so high they're scared out of their minds, but they've landed on the giant root and slide down which they're in for another wild ride.

"Yeah! This is fun!" Luffy shouts with excitement and a smile on his face as they scream.

"YOU FIND THIS FUN!?" Anna shouts in a surprise tone.

"We usually...make it out alive from things like this, right?" Usopp asks from behind with stream of tears in his eyes.

"Yeah, but I hope our luck hasn't finally run out!?" Nami told him.

"We'll be back to the ship in no time!" Luffy said as they continues to slide down towards the ruined town.

Meanwhile, Zoro is fighting against Eric when the mercenary grabs hold his wrists.

"Move! Or you won't live to regret it!" Eric threats.

"Hah! I'm not moving, so you're gonna make me, Swirly Head." Zoro scoffed, leaving Eric really losing his patience.

While back in the ruins, the Straw Hat pirates, Grandpa Ryu, and Apis are still sliding towards the ruins and they're coming in really fast to get away from Eric.

"Well guys, I guess should on the bright side." Usopp said. "I'm pretty confident that I can say we are now the fastest moving things in this world!"

"At this speed, we won't live to tell it!" Sanji shouts.

"Luffy, do something now!" Nami begs. "If we don't slow down, we'll wind-up in pieces!?"

"No worry, we're okay." Luffy said with a smile.

"HOW ARE WE OKAY!?" Nami and Ventus yelled at the rubber captain.

Back at in fight, Zoro is busy fighting against Eric, which the mercenary doesn't have the time as he came up with an idea.

"Sickle-Sickle: Wind Slash" Eric unleash a single air slash as it head towards Zoro, causing him to duck as the air slash slice the debris instead.

"What was that?" Zoro questions, notice Eric ran pass through him. "Hey, I'm not done with you!"

Eric then stopped as he turn over his shoulder and spoke.

"I have no more time to waste on you." Eric told him. "There's a Millennial Dragon out there that needs my undivided attention."

With that, Eric then jumps off the building, leaving Zoro grunts as he chases after him. Zoro then jumped off the building, but falls down which he doesn't expect that as he landed on the giant root. Zoro notice that Eric is sliding after them which the swordsman isn't behind.

'I hope the others made it through this.' Zoro thought, hoping his crew made it out alive.

Meanwhile, the Straw hat pirates, Apis, and Grandpa Ryu were still sliding towards the ruins. Apis is on the top of the elder dragon as she spoke to the rubber captain.

"Hey, will Zoro be okay back there?" Apis questions.

"Yeah, he'll be fine." Luffy answered without looking at her.

"But he's up against someone with Devil Fruit powers! I don't care how strong he is, he's in danger!" Apis protests with worry.

"He'll be alright, trust me." Luffy told her.

However, what got her attention was the tunnel ahead, felt slightly panicked since it had an entrance that's similar to the size of Grandpa Ryu's cart as she spoke.

"Luffy, up ahead!?" Apis warned the rubber captain.

"Yeah! It doesn't look good, huh?" Luffy asks with panic.

"WELL DON'T YOU STAND THERE, DO SOMETHIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNGGGGG?!" Apis yelled at him with her white eyes and shark-like teeth.

But it's too late, they went through the tunnel as they scream out of their minds. When the dust come out of the tunnel, the Straw Hat pirates and Apis were out of the tunnel as they landed down on the hill.

Eric landed on the top of the building when he saw the dust that was far away from him, notice that the Straw Hat pirates and Apis are heading towards the ship.

"There they are." Eric muttered with a smirk, notice that Zoro lands right in front of him.

"Sorry pal, but I'm not gonna let you go any further." Zoro told him, leaving Eric growled with annoyance.

"That so? Well I come and go as I please, swordsman." Eric told him with a smirk as he unleash the series of wind slash, aiming at Zoro as he dodge those attacks while landed on the ground. Eric leap towards the other building while using the wind slash at him, causing the swordsman to dodge as the mercenary ran after the Straw Hat pirates.

"Dammit, guy is nimble!" Zoro cursed as he goes after the mercenary.

When Eric run from building-to-building, he notice Zoro is still chasing after him, much to his annoyance and he rather go after the Millennial Dragon than fight Zoro as he use the wind slash to slice the tree branch. Zoro notice the tree branch is falling as he stopped when the branch crashes down to the ground. He then come up with an idea. Eric stopped while scanning the area, notice the big dust in the forest area. He then smirked when he was about, but someone threw the stick at the mercenary, causing him to miss that jump and crash down towards the building. Zoro landed in front of him, pointing the sword at him with a scowl.

"I said I wouldn't let you pass." Zoro warned him. "Now don't move an inch."

Eric then grunt with annoyance, felt humiliated that Zoro have outsmarted the mercenary.

Meanwhile, the Straw Hat pirates and Apis are sliding down towards the hill, but one of the wooden wheel is about to give out because it's getting loose and they're heading straight to the city walls.

"Look! We're heading right for the cities walls!" Apis warned her with panic.

"Hmm...Let's bust through." Luffy suggests.

"NO! Behind those walls is the cliff we fought out way up here!?" Nami shouts. "If we crash through those walls, we'll shoot over the cliff and fall to our doom! There won't be anything left!"

"We can fly." Luffy suggests again.

"You Moron!?" Apis yelled with annoyance, showing her white eyes and shark-like teeth.

"WHY SO YOU THINK WE'RE IN THE CART, YOU IDIOT?!" Ventus yelled with a tick mark on his head.

Until, the wooden wheel snapped as they lost their balance as the cart shifted towards the left. It caught Zoro attention when he heard that sound, seeing the big dust cloud from the area. Eric saw the opportunity as he grab hold of the dirt, throwing into Zoro's face, causing the swordsman to grunt while trying to get the dirt out of his eyes.

The cart then hit the wall, causing them to stop as they slide on backward and got hit by the wall again...and again...and again...and landed on the ground while sliding backwards. Eric then stood up with a scowl on his face, about had enough of the delays.

"I told you that you won't live to regret it." Eric told him, raise his claw. "And now the cost is, your life."

They were able to somehow made it down to the ground and their heading towards the Going Merry.

"I don't believe it, we're all still alive." Nami said with the whimper.

"If we somehow to hang on to this cart the whole time without being thrown off." Usopp said.

When he said that, the cart crashed into a stone, causing it to stop and brought Nami, Anna, Ventus, Usopp, and Sanji into the water since they're in the back. Apis slid down and off of Grandpa Ryu's back while Luffy on the hand, casually got off the cart.

"I'd told you we'd make it." Luffy said with his carefree tone and a smile. "Well quit laying around, we've gotta go."

"Oh please." Nami said.

"He's dead." Sanji muttered with an angry look and a tick mark on his head.

"I'll kill him." Ventus growled.

"Damn you Luffy." Anna cursed with anger, but Usopp is muttering out of the water which they couldn't hear what he said.

Until, the birds flew in the sky towards them, earned Apis' attention as one of the birds landed on the Millennial Dragons back. She starts to worry when the bird told her as she turn her head to Luffy and spoke.

"Luffy!" Apis called him, earned his attention. "The bird said: Zoro is in big trouble! What do we do? We've gotta help him!?"

Luffy turn his head on the left, knew that Zoro is in big trouble. And Apis is right since Eric now has the chance to kill him.

"Now die." Eric said with a smirk, readied his claw.

Until, the two heard a yell that was loud enough for them to hear which it was Luffy yelling as the rubber captain manage to grab hold of him that's very far.

"Bingo." Luffy said with a smile.

"So cool." Apis compliments, looking through the binoculars while Usopp and Anna prays for Zoros safety after the rest of the Straw Hat pirates tied the ropes on the wooden rails.

"No...not this, not again." Zoro said with panic but it's too late as Luffy then stretch his are back to the ship, causing the swordsman to yell while being launched. He then crash right on the Going Merry really hard.

"Oops, sorry." Luffy apologize quickly.

"If you ever do that again, I'll chop you into pieces." Zoro groans with a threat.

"Damn! I can't let them escape again." Eric cursed with a snarl.

Somewhere at sea

They were able to get through the storm, even though it's starting to get annoying but they manage to get through along with the mirage. The Marines notice the Going Merry went through the mirage, leaving them surprised with shock as one of the Marines headed towards the cabin to inform the Lieutenant Commander of the Marines.

"What?! They're back?"

"Yes, they appear to be heading in the direction of Warship Island and they're towing that dragon!"

"All ship troopers pursue them immediately! Sound the order, on the double!"

"Yes sir! Oh, by the way sir, Eric just reappeared as well, we'll have to wait for him to re-board before we go after'em!"

But Eric manage to board the Marine ship which the Lieutenant Commander of the Marines wasn't too happy seeing the mercenary.

"Him, that useless prima donna. I should've put a hole in that boat he took."

"Sir?"

"It's nothing! Sent that order!"

When Eric lands on the deck, the Lieutenant Commander of the Marines spoke.

"Well, do you actually made it back to the ship unharmed? And also empty-handed it appears?"

Eric couldn't help but grunt at that question, but recompose for a few seconds as he walk towards the cabin.

"Shouldn't you be capturing those pirates instead of making sarcastic remarks, Commander?" Eric questions with a scoff, leaving the Lieutenant Commander smirked with satisfaction.

The Straw Hat pirates and Apis are now setting sail towards the Warship Island to find the Dragons Nest since it'll surface again very soon, but the problem is that the Marines will be waiting for them so they'll grab hold of Grandpa Ryu for the Dragonite.

"Woo hoo! Your sails! You'll never catch us, you bunch of lolly-gagging slowpokes!" Usopp shouts with a taunt.

"The Going Merry is faster and more agile than those bulky Marine Ships, but once we stop at Warship Island, they're going to catch up." Nami points out. "Guy, what are we going to do then? Do we even have a plan?"

"We'll be okay." Luffy shurgs.

"Oh yeah?! How?!" Nami shouts, showing her white eyes and shark-like teeth.

"All we have to do is find a Dragons Nest and then Grandpa Ryu will get better and help us out." Luffy answered with a smile.

"That's easier said than done, Luffy." Sanji told him. "The nest could be at the bottom of the ocean for all we know."

"We'll search the bottom of the ocean then." Luffy suggested, pretty much stupid.

"Big talk for someone who can't swim." Zoro growled with annoyance and a tick mark on his head.

"In case you forget, you lost your ability to swim because of the Devil Fruit, remember?" Ventus reminds the rubber captain.

"Let's just get back to Warship Island." Nami suggests. "We'll work this out and hopefully avoid any entanglements with the Marines."

However, Nami has spoken to soon when both Sanji and Anna notice a Marine ship heading their direction.

"Uh Nami, I hate to be a bare of bad news." Sanji told her, leaving them looking at the Marine ship that's much bigger and bulkier than the other Marine ships. Luffy narrowed his eyes, seeing the golden demon on the ship as he spoke.

"Oh cool, look at that! It's a gargoyle!" Luffy said excitedly, leaving Zoro, Anna, and Ventus sweat dropped.

Commodore Nelson chuckled with an evil smirk when they sail towards the Going Merry, which he got the message from his fellow Marines not too long ago as he spoke.

"The small fries have left the fort, good." Nelson said. "Now is the time, all ships take up positions to the left and right, Crane-Wing Formation."

When the Marines raise the pennant and signal flags, many of the Marine ships revealed themselves from left and right that was coming from behind, leaving them stunned.

"You've got to be kidding me!?" Sanji exclaims.

"What? Did the Marines bring every ship in their whole damn fleet after us?" Zoro asked, turned his head to Anna and Ventus. "Do you two know?"

"True that we're friends with the Marines, but that don't mean they'll tell us everything about it." Anna replies, leaving Ventus nod with an agreement.

"All ships, connected to your fellow vessels with the chain links! No vessel, large or small can break through out wall! Those small fries have just walked into the frying pan!"

When Commodore Nelson gives the order, the Marines surrounds them with the chains connected to each other, forming a wall.

"What do we do?" Apis asks with panic. "They have us blocked off!?"

"We jump on to those ships, fight off the Marines, and cut those links. It's our only choice." Usopp suggests with a smirk.

"Wow, you mean you're really gonna do that, Usopp?" Apis asks with a smile.

"Go Luffy! Zoro! Sanji! Ventus!" Usopp told him, points at them.

"Why am I not surprised?"

"Actually, it's not a bad idea." Zoro said with a smirk, ready for a fight.

"What? Are you serious?" Apis asks surprisingly. "Even if you tried that, there's no way you'll survive-"

But what got her to stop is Nami placing her hand on her shoulder with a reassuring smile on her face.

"It's okay Apis. Things will work out." Nami told her, turn her head to her crew. "Just promise me that you'll make this right quick, okay guys?"

"With all my heart." Sanji complies.

"I'm coming with you guys." Anna said, earned their attention. "Been a while since I've been out in the field. Guess now is time as any."

Sanji was about to speak, but was stopped when Ventus raise his arm as he spoke.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Ventus questions.

"I'm sure." Anna confirms with a nod.

"Alright! Let's go!" Luffy shouts excitedly.
