PROLOGUE

On Gabranth's return to Ellesmera from Carvahall he had requested a private meeting with Evander the King of the Elves, Oromis and Glaedr.

"What I am about to reveal to you all, is the story of my unbelievable life before the fall" Gabranth stated in the Ancient language. However, before I start, I will require an oath in the ancient language from each of you. That what I am about to tell you will not be retold outside this meeting, unless I give you permission to and that you will not interrupt me until my story is complete, for which I will try to answer all your questions thereafter. Once the oaths had be received, Gabranth began to tell his story all in the ancient language.

Gabranth reiterated again that once he begun there would probably be some confusion however it should be cleared up as he continued his story further along, but as he requested before they were not to interrupt him until he finished unless he allowed it.

Gabranth described how he and his mother were taken to live in Galbatorix's castle at Urubaen after Saphira hatched for him at the age of twelve. He also explained that due to his young age Galbatorix was unable to find his true name to demand absolute fealty. Therefore, not long after they resided in the castle Gabranth was forced to be separated from his mother. Within a year of his separation he was thrown in a dungeon cell at the mercy of Galbatorix's top Magician who practiced his vile experimentations upon him and his dragon. Gabranth explained that it was not till a few years later did he realize just how successful the magician was with those experimentations. At this point one tear slid from his eye down his cheek and Gabranth quickly wiped it away. Gabranth had then proceeded to explain in detail of the experiment this madman had done to him and how in the end he broke free of it but not without the cost of it to him and his mate who sacrificed herself apart of herself to help him be freed - a decision she made without regret as was her unconditional love for him.

Gabranth quickly glanced at the three present and could see the confusion and utter revulsion in their eyes from what they heard but as he had requested, they all remained silent.

Now Gabranth decided that apart from describing his years at Urubaen with Galbatorix he could not go further into his first life without revealing that his mate was Arya, Evander's daughter and everything that happened during and up to the fall of Black King Galbatorix's and his true death.

So, he got straight to the point… hesitantly though confident in his words of the ancient language, Gabranth announced to Evander, Oromis and Glaedr "I do not come from this time and in fact I died at the downfall of the Black King Galbatorix which will come to pass perhaps 19 summers from now. For I have not been born yet my birth will take place in approximately six months from now, closer to if not on the last day of winter. It is also understandable when I say that on the day of that birth, I (waving his inverted hands towards himself sweeping downwards) will cease to exist including my world and everyone I have ever loved will as well cease to exist. It is called the 'Convergence' or so I've been told."

Gabranth stood and introduced his true self. "I am Eragon Bromsson, Rider of Saphira, Son of Brom and Selena, Half-brother of Murtagh Morzansson – son of Selena and adopted son of Brom, Shadeslayer of shades Durza and Vraugr, Bane of the Ra'zac and Lethblaka, Kingkiller of the Black King Galbatorix."

Gabranth then opened his saddles to reveal three velvet pouches and within each a dragon egg. Sapphire blue, Ruby Red and Emerald green. The Sapphire egg is Saphira, and her rider is Eragon II Bromsson, The Ruby egg is Thorn, and his rider is Murtagh Morzansson, and the Emerald egg and his rider will be revealed five years after the hatching of Saphira and Thorn. There are many reasons not to disclose the emerald egg's rider because once the rider is revealed their training will not be so encompassing as the other two.

Gabranth announced I have done everything I can to ensure that the Varden and Du Gata Vrangr were personally trained so that their soldiers and magicians would capable and an impressive foe against Black King's own magicians and army. That is not including their allies the Elves, Dwarfs and Humans though I expect united they will be formidable. This war will require all races including the Urgals and the Werecats to be allied with the Varden in order to defeat the Black King.

They have every chance to defeat the Black King Galbatorix. The Urgals can also be allies though currently their leaders are possessed by the Shade Durza and until this Shade is killed only then can the Urgals be released from their enslaved servitude. I believe allying with the Urgals would be an advantage to the armed forces of the Varden. The Urgals are a race built on various and normally they would never fight along each other. For it works against their own cultural beliefs and customs that they would generally fight clan vs clan. Durza has changed that.

Gabranth glanced at those present in their meeting, looking at each of them one at a time.

"There is much more to my story however I have a place in the mountains not far from Ninandel that can only be accessed by the bloodline of Eragon Bromsson." Gabranth explained.

It has scrolls, books, and a room for where I intend to take these eggs until it is time for them to hatch. The eggs and hidden cave have been wards that cannot be breached without my blood and soul essence or my successor after me. I know how to end the Black King Galbatorix because I've killed him.

Gabranth talks to Oromis directly "the weapons I carry now especially Brisingr and Vrangr are for Eragon and when time comes for me to depart, I will leave Brisingr with you and Vrangr I will leave with Ruhnon for only she knows the specifics of the weapon and how and why it was made."

Gabranth than removes a thick leather-bound book and places it in Oromis hands. "This is everything about me, my life and everything I have learned, magic, rider notes and instructions for Brom. There are people that will need to be rescued and others that will need to be killed due to their cruel and inhuman experiments when combining dark magic with science. People and innocent children can be spared a gruesome sick death."

Looking back at Oromis, Glaedr and Evander, Gabranth expresses his profound respect towards them for allowing him to tell his story as he has lived it and though it isn't the entirety of who he is, it is the information he needed to share with them whether they believed him or not.

A silence enveloped the place for a time and then Oromis moved towards him and turning two fingers in a circular motion over his sternum as sign of respect.

After the fall and during the time he apprenticed under Rhunon he had spent a lot of time in preparation of what needed to be done by the end of a century.

At Gabranth's behest he had appealed 1 of 3 requests from his friend Evander, that once Brom's wife Selena has given birth to her 2nd son. That Evander send an elven guard escort to Carvahall, where they will find Brom or Selena and request by invitation for Brom, Selena and their sons to come to Du Weldenvarden and to stay in Ellesmera. If Brom is not in Carvahall that they seek a farmer Garrow Cadocsson for this was Selena's brother and to present the invitation to Selena and a letter from Gabranth. Once they are situated in Ellesmera that the remain under the protection of Evander's house and that the boys were not to leave Du Weldenvarden until the 2nd son has reached his seventeenth year.

The second request was to ask both boys be trained in weapons and more specifically the sword and educated in the Ancient Language, Dwarfish and Urgal language by Oromis as part of their educational curriculum.

Then third request was that on eve of Eragon's twelfth birth of day. Brom, Oromis and Glaedr were to travel with their boys to the mountain's northwest of Nadindel.

On the eastern side of the mountains where they would find a track leading up the mountain traveling north to the first summit where they will travel along to the northern path until they come across a broken shack built into the mountain. Next to it will be an indentation in the mountain the shape of a large doorway. Gabranth reassured them that based on the instructions and with the younger Eragon's help they will understand Gabranth's reasoning and why he has worked so hard to set up what will be needed for what was to come, what they will be faced with in order to bring down the Oath Breaker and the evil he has inflicted on Alagaesia and its races for the past century.
