Sai woke up at the sound of the alarm ringing at the bedside table. She reached for her phone and sleepily checked the time; it was 10 in the morning. She stretched her body and looked outside her window, she thought of the dream she just had. It was about Tsukishima and Daichi. They are from a recent anime she found herself getting attached to. Basically, they were helping her deal with her problems and saved her from drowning in herself. As she remembered lying down and being patted on the head by Kei, she couldn't help the smile forming on her face and small giggle wishing for it to come true.
After a few moments, she pulled herself out of the bed and went out to the bathroom. She fixed herself up then looked around the house only to find out she was alone. Her brothers were out of the house yet again. She decided to whip up something since she knows they wouldn't arrive back till later this lunch. She went to the kitchen and looked for something she could eat. Sadly, there wasn't any cereal and oatmeal left. She wanted to go to the store but it was too far and she was extremely starving. So, she decided to look for something to cook.
Cooking isn't actually her forte; she can only cook simple things like canned goods and stuff like that. She looked in the cuppers to maybe find some canned goods but there were none.
'Damn this house lacks so much stuff we should go grocery shopping later' She thought to myself.
She searched in the fridge next and found raw meat and fish, and veggies too but she doesn't really know what to do with them so she looked for something else. She went deeper into the fridge and found 3 pieces of hotdogs.
"Yes! Something I finally know how to cook" she exclaimed with delighted while looking at the newly found food.
She took them out and washed them. Then let them cool for a bit. While waiting she started reading a fic she found on her phone. It was about a barbarian and his dragon. It was very entertaining and it made her want to read more. As she was reading, her stomach grumbled loudly as if telling her to stop reading and fill herself up first. She sighed and checked on the hotdogs on the table. She grabbed a pan and placed water on it. She turned on the stove and heated the water. She was getting really bored and restless, wanting to read what happens next to the story. So, she grabbed her phone and read while waiting for the water on the pan to heat up.
Sai was in the climax of the story when she decided to place the hotdogs in the pan. She rolled and flipped the hotdogs to cook it evenly. Sai started giggling and getting excited as the relationship two characters of the story developed. She wasn't able to control her excitement and accidentally, flipped the hotdogs to hard causing the pan to flip over too. Adrenaline filled her body as she immediately pulled her arm that was holding the phone upwards and tried to evade it. Sai quickly turned off the stove and picked up the pan. She was shocked for a moment and wasn't able to fully comprehend what happened. Then as adrenaline slowly left her body, she felt a stinging pain on the left side of her face near her left eye and above the left part of her lip and on her chest and right leg. She screeched in pain trying to pull her clothes off of her reddening skin.
Sai quickly ran to the bathroom and removed all my clothes. She looked at herself in the mirror and found red spots and blisters all over her chest and some on the left side of her face and leg. Her eyes were fixed on the huge blister on her chest. It was the biggest one she had. Panic started to flow through her veins as she tried her best to keep calm and be level headed about the situation. But the burns and on her body hurt so bad whenever she makes even the tiniest movements. Sai slowly made her way to the sink, grabbed a small towel and turned on the tap. Cold water flowed from the tap and she trembled slightly from the touch of the cold water to her skin. She placed the towel through the water and squeezed it to remove the excess water. Then slowly but surely, Sai placed it on top of her chest which she instantly regretted. The slight touch from the cold cloth sent a stinging sensation throughout her body. She let out a small scream and tears slowly formed my eyes. Sai didn't know what to do and the pain was slowly growing as time passes by.
She sat there on the floor of the comfort room silently crying and forgetting the damp cloth beside her. Sai stayed there until she decided to just go her room before anyone arrives. So, she picked up her clothes and just slightly placed them above her naked body and made her way back to the comfort of her own room. Sai stayed there not feeling the hunger anymore. Thinking on what to do or better yet how to hide the marks from her brothers. Sai's three older brothers are very protective of her. They kind of have a sister complex though they won't admit it. She doesn't want them to worry about menial things since she knows they have their own stuff to worry about.
Sai stood on a chair and went directly in front of the air conditioner that was installed in her room. She stayed there feeling the cold air pushed against my chest. It hurt of course but not as much how a cloth would touch it. Moments later the pain had subsided a bit so she sat down trying to put loose clothes on but it touched the blisters again and she couldn't help but scream in pain. Tears flowed through her eyes again as she heard a knock on the door.
"Hey, Sai-chan! What's wrong?!" A worried voice of a male came from outside my door.
"Ah, nothing Lu-nii. I just had a bad dream." she lied while trying to keep her voice as normal as she could.
Unlike her other brothers who was 3 years older than her, Luffy was not that much older than Sai was. Only a few months older though she still calls him Lu-nii just like his other older brothers.
"You sure? You sound like you're in pain though?" He asked, doubt was clearly evident in his voice.
"Yeah. No need to worry." she said while making my voice as cheerful as possible. 'Good thing I locked the door when I entered or else he would have entered.' she thought to myself.
"Okay, Sabo and Ace said they won't be back till dinner and I just came by to pick up something. I'll be at Zoro's if you need anything." He informed her as he slowly walked away.
"Okay." she yelled through the other side of the door. Sai waited a few minutes until she heard the main door being shut. She opened her bedroom door slightly to check if he was indeed gone and breathe a sigh of relief when he truly did leave. Sai went back in her room and locked the door. She laid on the bed and relaxed myself trying her best to ignore the pain.
Sai jerked up the bed from the scary dream she had. It was about flames and flaming hotdogs trying to get her. She was panting really hard. Sai tried to clutch her chest. But as her touch grazed her chest, she instantly flinched her hand away. She forgot about the blisters on her chest and yelped in pain. Sai calmed myself and looked for her phone to check the time. It was almost 6 in the evening. She checked my messages and saw a few texts from her bothers.
Hottest Brother: Hey! I'll be home before dinner! (sent 11:17am)
Hottest Brother: I am at the store with Sabo. Want anything? (sent 5:01pm)
Mature Brother: Hey Sai! Got caught up in work. I can't go home this lunch. sorry :
(sent 11:43am)
Sai replied to my oldest brother A.K.A "Mister Hottest Brother" (he set his own nickname and when she tried to change it, he got upset so she just let him be)
'Nothing.'
She then proceeded to search the web for some medication for my burns. There she found out that aloe vera would be a good remedy. Sai stood up and searched for the aloe vera gel she had in her drawers. When she found it, the container was light, it was already empty. So she fished up her phone and texted her oldest brother, Ace. 'Hey you guys still doing groceries?'. She waited for a few moments but she got no reply so she called him but he didn't answer.
So, Sai called Sabo, which he answered almost immediately.
"Hey nii chan! Are you with Ace-nii? He wasn't answering my calls." she said pouting.
"Hey! Yeah, he says his phone ran out of battery." "Sai-chan! I ran out of battery! Sorry!" Ace said in the background.
"Yes, I know I heard." she said laughing at how stupid her brothers could be sometimes.
"Anyways, I was just about to call you." he said cheerfully.
"Why?" she asked.
"Well, I wanted to ask what you wanted for dinner since well just get take out here." Sabo said.
"Oh, so your done with grocery shopping." she said, disappointment was clearly evident in my voice.
"Yeah. Why did you need anything? I told Ace to text you if you needed anything." He said glaring at his brother.
"Hey! I did!" Ace said defensively.
"Ah yeah he did but I read it late." she said while she scratched the back of her neck.
Sabo gave out a sigh "What did you want?" he asked in defeat.
"Yey! Well, just some aloe vera gel. I ran out of it." Sai answered cheerfully.
"What did you need them for?" Sabo asked curiously.
"Uhm well.." she looked around her room trying to find an excuse. Her eyes landed on a mirror on her right. "For my acne. I saw an article saying it's really helpful you know."
Sabo's sigh could be heard from the other side of the phone "I have some in my room. I'll give them to you when we get home."
"Really? That's fine then! Oh, and anything is fine and ice cream! Thanks!" she said happily.
"Sure. Anyways got to go! Love you!"
"Safe driving! Love you guys too!" she said as she turned off the call. Sai plopped down on her bed lightly tracing the red marks and lightly touching blisters throughout my face. They were small but they still hurt a lot. 'I hope they don't leave marks' Sai thought as she sighed to herself.
It was almost 7 in the evening when she heard the main door open and someone saying "I'm home". Sai grabbed a loose shirt and carefully wore it. After that she went outside to see who arrived, it was Luffy.
"Welcome home." she greeted back.
"Are Ace and Sabo not home yet? I'm hungry." Luffy whined while looking around the living room.
"Nope, they ordered take out so when they come back, we'll have food already." Sai said while smiling.
"Oh okay! I guess I can wait." He said while sitting himself down the couch.
She looked at him curiously "Hey what's that?" she asked while pointing at a red mark on his neck. It wasn't clearly visible earlier but from where she was standing it was clear as daylight.
"Huh?" He fixed his sitting position and quickly covered the red mark. "What mark?" he asked while averting his gaze, clearly panicking.
"I didn't say anything about a mark though." Sai said while trying to suppress her laughter.
"But you pointed at my neck!" he said while pouting still covering his neck.
"Oh. So that was a mark?" she said smirking at her flustered older brother.
"NO! it's just a bruise!" he said defensively.
"Ahuh?" she said mockingly.
"It is! I bumped into the table and got bruise!" he said looking the other way.
'What a terrible liar' Sai said to herself while suppressing her laughter.
"Hey stop laughing!" he scolded her but it only made her laugh harder how he trying his best to lie.
Moments later we heard a car's horn outside. "Then maybe I should tell Ace-nii and Sabo-nii, about your BRUISE so they could help you heal." Sai said teasingly as she was preparing to make a run for it.
"You wouldn't da—" she cut him off and ran towards the door screaming for their two older brothers.
"ACE-NII! SABO-NII! Luffy-nii has a—" before she could finish her sentence Luffy jumped on her and they fell with a thud on the ground. She fell face first to the floor while Luffy was on top of her. Sai's bruises hurt as they were squished. She felt some of them pop and felt sticky flyid flowing through her blisters. Luffy didn't notice her sister's writhing in agony and placed his hand on her mouth to prevent her from talking. Sai tried to push him off because my blisters were being squashed but he was too heavy and her blisters and burns hurt like hell.
She didn't notice the tears flowing through her eyes. Luffy was shock to feel something wet on his hand. He looked at her and saw that she was crying.
"You know that's not gonna work. You gotta promise me first that you wouldn't say anything." He said still holding her down.
Sai just continued to writhe in pain. When Luffy noticed she wasn't letting up he immediately jumped up from her "Hey! Are you okay?" he asked sincerely as he tried to help her up. But the blisters hurt so bad she couldn't even stand. She noticed sticky spots on her body. She looked at her chest and noticed icky red and white spots her white shirt and noticed it was blood.
She curled up into a ball trying to hide the blood stains and to calm myself from pain but it only made it worse.
"Hey Sai." Luffy said. He placed his hand on her chin trying to make her face him. I refused to look up. The worry Luffy felt instensified. He managed to flip me up and saw the blood stains littered on my shirt.
"What the fuck?!" a loud curse from behind them. Luffy looked up to see Ace dropping the grocery bags on the floor and immediately ran to her. He carried her to the couch. Sai whimpered and tried her best to stop crying as the sticky shirt grazed her injured. Ace gently placed her on the couch while Luffy was looked at them guiltily.
"What the hell Ace?!" they heard Sabo screaming.
"I told you to put these in the house but I didn't mean—" Sabo stopped blabbering when he saw her sister with blood stains on her chest.
"What the hell happened?!" He dropped the bags and scurried over to her side.
"I'm sorry Sai-chan! I didn't mean to—" Luffy said while looking the floor, his eyes were shadowed but his voice was soft almost cracking.
"What do you mean Luffy?" Ace was clearly pissed. He never calls Luffy by his name unless he's pissed.
"Well, she started teasing me and tried to tell on me. So, I tried to stop her and then she cried and then *sniff* *sniff*" he tried his best to suppress the tears that began to fall. Sabo went to his little brother and hugged him to provide comfort.
Sai sat down and was about to tell them that it wasn't Luffy's fault when Sabo interrupted her.
"It's okay Lu, just be careful next time." he said while hugging his younger brother who clearly regretted what happened. Ace just looked at them still pissed about what happened. Luffy looked at her younger sister "I'm really sorry Sai-chan" He said again.
"As I was trying to say it's not your fault." she said a matter of factly.
"It is! I jumped on you when you were gonna tell them about the hickey!" he realized what he said "oops!" he quickly covered his mouth and looked away.
"WHAT?!" Ace shouted at his little brother.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN HICKEY?!" the older brother went to his younger brother who was now hiding behind his nicer older brother. Sadly, it wasn't gonna work and Ace yanked Luffy forward and searched for the hickey and there it was on the side of his neck.
"Who did that to you?!" Sabo asked while Luffy was just sitting on the floor quietly.
"WAS IT THAT TRAFALGAR GUY?!" Ace asked angrily. Luffy's cheek turned bright red at the mention of the other man's name.br /
Ace obviously took it as a yes and was prepared to head out when Sabo stopped him. "That doesn't matter now Ace." Sabo said in a stern voice.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT DOESN'T MATTER?! LOOK WHAT HE DID TO OUR LITTLE BROTHER!" Ace shouted angrily. He was beyond pissed at this point.
"Torao didn't do anything I didn't like Ace!" Luffy defended Law.
That seem to fuel Ace's anger more "Shut it Luffy!" Ace said and was about to go to the door but stopped midway.
"So, you're saying that a hickey is more important than the state your sister is in?" Sabo asked as he looked directly looked at Ace. It was a low blow and Sabo knew that but he had to or Ace might really go after Law. Sabo was angry too but they got to deal with one problem at a time and not create more. The hot-tempered brother stopped on his tracks and looked at his sister. He walked back to the couch and sat back down and apologized to her. He then glared at Luffy mouthing 'We aren't finished yet'. Luffy shivered and hid behind Sabo again, then stuck his tongue out.
Sabo sighed and looked at me "So what happened?" She looked away and murmured as quietly and fast as I could "itriedtocook".
"What?" Ace asked.
"Speak up so we can hear you." Sai sighed and said it louder.
"ITRIEDTOCOOK!!" they covered their ears pain was evident in their faces. "Jeez! Are you trying to rap or something?" Luffy asked.
She looked away not wanting to tell them what happened. "Come on Sai just tell us so we can help." Sabo said softly as he slowly went near to the couch.
Sai sighed "You'd get mad." she said while pouting.
"No, we won't." Luffy said smiling. She looked at her two eldest brothers and they just nodded in agreement.
She breathed deeply as said in a soft voice "I tried to cook."
They were shocked to say the least. "Why would you do that? You know you can cook even if your life depended on it." Luffy said straight forwardly.
"Hey I can cook a bit" my voice growing softer as she said the last part. They tried to suppress their laughter and she just sat there pouting.
"Then what happened?" Sabo asked.
"I was reading a story on my phone and accidentally flipped the hotdogs too hard that the pan flipped too –" Ace burst out laughing
"How can that even happen?" Sai glared at his eldest brother
"Hey! As if you could cook too! you can't even cook canned goods!" she retorted.
"But at least I don't flip the pan when I try." And with that her three brothers laughed harder. Sai grabbed the pillow beside her and threw it at her brother's face.
Sai turned around and folded her arms to her chest. "Ouch!" she yelped as she accidentally touched her injuries.
"Careful!" Luffy said.
"Is that why you asked for aloe vera earlier?" Sabo asked.
"Yeah" I looked down avoiding his worried gaze.
He sighed "You could've just told us the truth you know. We need more than aloe vera to fix that you know." He scolded.
"You would've gotten worried. Besides I didn't lie I'd still use it for acne." She said as she pointed to the acne beginning to form on the side of my head. "Also, I'm okay. I just don't want it to scar." Sai said pouting.
"Well, it will if we don't get proper treatment." Sabo said as he stood up.
"Where are you going Sabo?" Luffy asked.
"To the pharmacy, I'll get some medication. Put water on it for the mean time." He told Luffy. Then He looked at Ace as if telling him to behave the latter looked away and tsked.
"Take care of her for a while." Sabo said closing the door behind him.
"Tsk. You don't need to tell me." Ace whispered as he came closer to her.
"Sabo-nii worries too much. I'm fine though!" she said pouting. Ace lightly hit her on the head.
"Hey! I'm already injured! Don't add some more!" she scolded her elder brother as she clutched her poor head.
"Stupid! Next time be careful! Don't make me worry like that!" He said angrily.
Sai looked at him shocked. "Y-you were worried?" she asked hesitantly.
"What kind of stupid question is that! What would you think my reaction would be seeing my only sister bloodied on the floor like that?" he asked angrily.
'I was only kidding though. What a tsundere.' Sai thought to herself and giggled
"I'll be fine. It's not even that much blood. Don't worry about me too much." Sai gave him a reassuring smile and a kiss on his cheek. He blushed like a tomato and tried to look away as she laughed at him.
Luffy returned with a bowl of cold water and a towel. "Ne why is Ace red?" He asked curiously with his head cocked to the side, as Ace's face became a darker shade of red.
"S-shut up!" Ace scowled.
Luffy just turned away from Ace and focus his attention on her.
"Remove your shirt, I'll help clean you up with the cloth." Luffy said innocently.
Sai blushed while Ace bonked Luffy's head. "Don't say things like that idiot!" Ace scolded his little brother.
"But why? What did I say wrong? We used to do this a lot for her before!" Luffy argued.
"It's different now, okay? She's already big." Ace said. He blushed on how that statement came out the wrong way.
"What do you mean Ace?" Luffy asked innocently his head was once again cocked to the side of his head.
"It's okay Lu-nii. I can manage." she said, saving my older brother from the embarrassment.
"You sure?" Luffy asked again.
"Yeah." She stood up carrying the bowl of water into my room.
After that her three brothers never left the house without leaving food for her on the table. They made sure there is at least something there for her to eat. They also made sure she never cooked. Luffy also got scolded by both Sabo and Ace but of course being the nice sister that Sai was. She tried to help him out a bit. In the end everything worked out and they lived happily ever after.
