CHAPTER 6

Jon sat in the cave brooding. He was supposed to go solo like Damian or join the league like Billy, instead he was stuck here with sidekicks.

He thought after his big entrance nearly a week ago, he would be happily welcomed into the league. But that was not meant to be. First his dad arrived at the scene before he could impress other leaguers and scolded him, for sneaking out and then grounded him. Then batman added fuel to the fire saying how he couldn't control his powers, showing beaten forms of Ultra Humanite and Atomic Skull, who had both received massive injuries. It wasn't like he was fighting for his life against multiple supervillains. He is sure that was a revenge for telling the league about pink hair prank. Then his punishment got doubled when he blamed his sneaking on the Lane genes, when his mom was arguing in his favor. That one was on him sadly.

Now, he can't even patrol alone, his dad had become overprotective of both him and mom. Sure, it would have been cute had he been 10 years old instead of a teenager. Still, the patrols with his dad are kind of fun.

He had joined the team yesterday and he was already bored. It was his mom's idea, she thought being with kids his own age could help get adjusted to the society better. Kid Flash not Yellow Flash is annoying, Connor always glares at him, Artemis blushes whenever she sees him, and MM she's just weird. Only Kaldur is somewhat normal who can have a conversation with him.

He saw the team coming towards him.

Robin was the one to break the silence. He has adopted some of the Batman's traits, like the need to know everything. "hey, since you are part of the team now, can you tell us about yourself. You can also ask questions if you want. Since, you know communication is an important part of team building."

"Yeah, Jon I would love to know more about you," Artemis spoke. Then she blushed furiously from embarrassment.

He sighed, but then thought 'lets just get this over with.' "Ok, so you already know, I am Superboy, Son of Superman." He heard Connor growl at that. "Anyway, my name is Jon, that's the only thing you are getting now. My dad has become a bit stricter now, about our secret identity."

"So… remember when Doomsday attacked and my dad almost died"

"Dude your dad died, and the rest of the league almost died." Kid Flash commented.

Jon glared at him and said, "My Dad went into a Coma at that time."

"Sorry, I saw that funeral on a documentary on Superman Day. Half of the justice league was in a cast during it." KF said.

"Anyway, my mom was pregnant with me at that time." Jon continued.

"What but that would make you 14, right. You look at least 17." Robin interrupted.

Jon glared at him, "I will get to it if you stop interrupting me."

He then continued, "So, anyway, you know the rest of the story right. There were 3 impersonators, one went psycho, my dad returned after months and saved the day. Then he and mom reconciled, got married and had me 2 months later. After that dad decided to leave Metropolis, so he can raise me in his hometown. Most people thought, he was taking a backseat from superhero business, due to his injuries.

So, when I was 9 years old my power started developing. Dad decided to take me as his partner in order to teach me how to use them. I got kidnapped by Batman's son. We fought, then our dad fought, then we were made partners, Robin was an annoying jerk back then, but he kinda grew over me. Then dad became full time active again. We were careful about my hiding my existence, as there weren't many young sidekicks back then and dad had made many enemies."

"Hello Megan, so that's why no one knew you, you were covert like us except you were," she became downcast at this, "better at keeping secrets." It was her idea to tell papers about their team, which got league in trouble.

"Yes, so remember the psycho who was impersonating my dad, he regained his powers. He decided to take revenge on my dad and collected his worst enemies to fight against him, like Mongul, Metallo, Eradicator, Zod, etc. He knew Superman and mom were close, so he infected her with a deadly virus, followed her back to the fortress and mounted an attack. It was a brutal battle, I wasn't a participant, so I didn't know the details. But the league got involved, even mom had to join the fight with superman serum, the bad guys only lost because, they got double crossed by Zod and his wife. He wanted to leave earth to start New Krypton somewhere else. He decided to take mom and me hostage as a revenge."

He stopped a bit for breath. And to let this sink into others.

"Superman Serum?" Connor asked confused. Even his files didn't have information on it.

"Well… it's a serum which gives my mom powers of superman temporarily." Jon answered. Not knowing whether he should have told them about it or not.

"So, he used an artifact in fortress to travel to different world, one with two yellow suns, taking us with him. Then just before we were about to be imprisoned. I started freaking out and exploded."

Megan asked, "But, how did you explode and how are you still hear?"

"Kryptonians are powered by sun like solar batteries. Anyway, my cells process and store sunlight more effectively. So, when we got teleported, my cell became overcharged very quickly. After that due to my mental state, I lost control and discharged it all at once. This stunned, Zod and his family. my mom used that opening to escape with me

So, I spent next 6 years with my mom fighting Zod's Regime. We would mostly use hit and run tactics. Sometime Zod will recruit fighters from other places for security. Sometimes I would kick his son's ass to kingdom come. Few weeks ago, I managed to steal a tech which would activate Hypercube. I managed to contact dad. He came in like 10 minutes. We then ambushed Zod and his wife, kicked them into phantom zone, recruited my rival. Dismantle the regime and finally returned home, and turns out only 3 years passed here." Jon finished.

"No wonder, you were so good in the fight. You honed your skills on battlefield like a true warrior." Kaldur commented.

Wally whistled, "Wow, dude you are a real Badass. Hey can you tell us about Pink Batman prank"

The team looked intrigued, except Robin who was having mixed feelings he wanted to know the prank, but didn't want to ruin Batman's cool and Badass image.

"I will also tell you about, Rainbow and Chicken Batman," Jon laughed mentally, thinking this was a prefect revenge against Batman, he will tell the team about his successful, failed and even planned pranks. He will just have to bribe Alfred to testify for him.

After that talk rest of the team became even more entranced by Jon, they bonded while sharing stories of their adventures. The team had done much more missions but Jon had done more interesting missions like saving a planet, travelling to space, etc. They did all this while not noticing the growing distance between them and Connor.

This is the biggest chapter till now. Hope you liked it. Only two chapters remain. I know I said something similar before too. But the next chapter will be Connor and Superman making up. And final chapter will be an epilogue. Sorry if Artemis seems a bit OOC I was going to have her develop a big crush on Jon. But decided against it.
