Juzo Inui, or Resolver as people might call, was strolling along a quiet path in Kyusei Pit. With each of his wide step, he went closer to the destination he was headed to – his home. He was about to pass a clearing where children often played soccer, but something huge suddenly barged into his vision. It descended from the sky and landed right before him.
"Now, just what kind of nonsense I'm seeing at…!"
His pistol of a head tilted upwards to gaze at a big, green, winged-lizard who was baring its fangs at him. It opened its maw, roaring at him. He didn't falter however, for an overwhelming daze overcame him. Its body glowed green and shrunk to reveal its alternate form.
Now, standing before him was a beautiful young lady with blonde twin tails in a maid-themed dress, a pair of dragon horns adorned her head. Her orange eyes with split-pupils gleamed under that morning sky as her lips curled into a bright smile.
"Good morning! It's been awhile, Sir!" She greeted cheerfully as she ran towards him, opening her arms wide as if trying to hug him.
"WUHHOOOAAH! YOU… YOU'RE THAT GIRL!?"
The Resolver even couldn't help but stagger back in utter shock.
No Guns Life belongs to Tasuku Karasuma.
Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid belongs to Cool Kyoushinsha.
This bloke owns nothing.

Now, seated on the sofa in Juzo's office, the girl was curiously staring at him. Momentarily, she put a puzzled look as his "head" gave her a shadowy appraising gaze in exchange.
No matter how she looked at him, he wasn't entirely a human. It was true that he possessed a good physique most men probably would dream of, but his head had been replaced with a contraption she knew nothing about.
No visible eyes, no ears, no nose, but the lack of presence of those sensing instruments didn't bother his activity in the slightest. His prominent metal chin under his face that connected his upper jaw to the base of his muzzle probably was the only thing which still make him resemble a human in a sense.
Yes, his head was a revolver to be precise, made of steel. It was a huge revolver that chambered in matching big ammo into its six-sized compact cylinder. Behind it was an oddly proportionate small handle in a fitting size of an adult's palm, complete with its trigger and hammer mechanism. His creator probably had brought realistic art to a different height that a mouth with jagged jaws which almost resembled a bear trap was added as a fitting adornment for the pistol.
"So, you came here to see me, huh? It's been six years." Juzo opened his lips-less mouth after he sipped his coffee.
"That's true. You saved my life when I stranded, dying near that desert town." The girl reminisced as she made a slight grimace. "I truly am surprised that you could pull that sword off of my back without suffering any ailment afterwards. For all that trouble, I thank you."
"That sword… How come that damn huge thing stabbed you in the first place?" He inquired in an indifferent tone as his muzzle faced straight at her gaze, putting her in a light trance.
"Uh… Well… I fought with a god." She gave a sheepish smile.
"You what!?" He shifted in his seat, giving an impression of frowning.
"I fought with a god." She repeated, turning her gaze away sourly.
The Resolver was at a loss. In all his entire lifespan after he turned into an Over-Extended, he never dealt with something supernatural. It was true that he had spent his time in battlefields to send countless lives unto the Lord, but never once he made any contact with the unknown save this one.
Juzo sighed. "Geez… Just what kind of thing I'm in. Never thought that I'll see an otherworldly stowaway."
A moment of silence claimed the room. Above the two, the fan was spinning lazily, barely warding off the heat that invaded the office as the sun rose higher. Juzo emerged from his seat and walked towards the window. He leaned his back against the sill, looking at the outside.
"Then, Tohru is it? What are you gonna do? I'm not offering any asylum, mind you." He stated as a matter of fact.
"I came here not because I'm being hunted, you know. I'm here because I want to offer my assistance as a maid." She exclaimed in confidence, puffing her well-endowed bosom.
"Uh– What!?" His hand inadvertently grabbed the right side of his cylinder in a fit of confusion. "Oi! You're joking, right?"
"No, I'm not!" Tohru retorted as she smiled. "Look, Mister Juzo! What's the point of wearing this outfit if I won't become a maidservant? Do you remember what you said after you saved me?"
"Huh…?" Juzo cupped his prominent metal chin as he rummaged his recollection.
It was six years prior, on the day of his last mission to suppress the revolt of his fellow Gunslave Units that he met her. She was wounded in her dragon form, pierced by a giant blade in her back. He pulled that sword out of pity and she morphed into the girl he was seeing now. They talked a bit and…
'… I spilled that foolish thing, telling her to be my house assistant? So that's how it was. I didn't have time to hear her story so I just wanted to shrug her off. And now…' He mused as he stared guiltily, her delightful countenance pained him more. 'Here she is. I really don't understand her thought.'
Meanwhile, Tohru took a gulp from her cup. "Hmm… This coffee is so good. I should learn to make one."
"… Ugh… So, I said that kind of silly thing, huh?" Juzo ran his palm over his face in embarrassment. "I thought that you'll take that as a joke. Now I feel really bad about it."
"Joke? My pride as a dragon would never allow that. So, Mister Juzo, please let me be your maid!" She insisted as she put a pleading look.
"Maid? You see, I don't have much money to pay you. I even have trouble to pay the rent of this place." He said as he went back to his seat, finding the preposterous notion irritatingly amusing.
"You don't need to pay me. As far as I can stay with you, I will do everything to help you. Even I will help you in your work!" Tohru refused to back down.
"You're overly eager to help me. Actually what makes you go this far?" The Resolver asked as he straightened his posture.
Taking the signal, the young dragon lady gave a determined look. It gave him the feeling that he was facing a formidable foe in a combat, hell-bent to subdue him with a strong killing intent alone. It put him into a mental struggle whether he should outright refuse her or just surrender and accept that offer.
Until he reached the conclusion that she was just a stubborn lass.
"You are my benefactor and I want to repay your kindness. So please, let me help you!" She worded out her resolve with utmost sincerity.
Juzo scratched his neck lightly. Like how he dealt with most of his clients, he wanted to get over with this as soon as he could. From petty kidnapping to mediation between gangs, he never failed in his job, hence people called him Resolver. No matter how splendid the work he had done, he didn't like annoying thing, still, just like how he hated humidity and kids.
"I don't think that's a good idea, Tohru." His muzzle slightly inclined up.
"B-but… Why?" She asked, casting a shocked look.
"This place isn't a working place for a lady like you. This place and the things I deal with daily are dangerous. There are bad guys everywhere. It's better if you work somewhere else where you can get a decent employer."
Thus he turned down her honest offer. Like a bullet, her wish couldn't pierce that armor of his firm mind. Her lovely smile fell crestfallen. She turned her head away in utter dismay.
"I'm sorry, Tohru. I know you want to help me, but I should decline your offer for the sake of your own safety."
Juzo suddenly froze, finding the air around him grew colder. He noticed that his words somehow had upset his guest, so much. His muscle fibers beneath his skin creaked in anticipation. His left hand reached his right wrist where his auxiliary weapon rested, pressing its hammer furtively, just in case.
"Do you think that I'm that weak, Mister Juzo? I can defend my own self. Hell! I can even destroy this country if you wish!" She spoke in a low voice, casting a cold gaze that could make lesser men rock in fear.
"That's even more of a reason for you to get a better employer. I know that you're a dragon, but being a superior creature doesn't mean that you can smash everything around you as you please." He pointed out, staying cool, startling her.
"… Ah…" She immediately closed her mouth, finding herself couldn't utter any retort.
"If you come here to visit me, I don't mind about it. If you want to work under me however, it's better if you find good people who're willing to hire you, outside of this town. Sorry, Tohru." Juzo apologized.
"I see… But is that an order?" She asked to confirm his thought.
"No. We're not even related in some sort of contract. It's just a suggestion." He denied.
"Suggestion out of goodwill is it? It truly saddens me that I cannot work under a caring man like you, Mister Juzo." She grimaced although he got a hint that she actually was teasing him, trying to play her way around.
"Geez… Just don't make a tasteless flattery. I don't like bad joke." Juzo told as he leaned his cylinder against his finger.
"Hmm… Alright. However, I find that this place is… clean." She remarked out of the blue after batting her gaze around the room.
"Clean? Maybe you're right. I take it as a compliment this time." Juzo let out a small snort.
"Oh, really~?" Tohru raised an eyebrow in little excitement. "I can make this place even cleaner, you know."
He went into a short pondering over that offer. If he were to take it, he might have fallen into her trick. Nevertheless, he was really curious about her skill. She was a creature that never existed in his world after all. If it was just a peek, what was wrong with it?
He finally decided to test her out of curiosity.
"Alright. Think you can clean the floor? I haven't mopped it in a while." He spoke as he stood, heading towards the storeroom.
"Oh! Understood! Leave it to me!" She hopped from her seat in glee.
"Hmm!?" He stopped in his track.
He noticed that she suddenly opened her mouth, releasing a yellow beam that blew the entire room and all the furniture vanished in a blink. It was true that the room looked so shiny, cleansed of all dirt, but nothing was left. Even the only fan in the room also lost. She really did finish her job, but that cleanliness was nothing he ever wished for.
"WHOHAAAAAH! WHERE'S THE FURNITURE!?" He shouted in panic, gazing at the room where all his belongings had been wiped from existence. "TOHRUUUUU!"
"Eh? Isn't this clean, Mister Juzo?" She innocently asked, cringing slightly.
"This isn't what I mean!" Resolver opened his jaw wide, making the dragon flinch. "Give back all my stuffs!"
"A–alright…" She outstretched her arms, producing a pair of red magic circles to return the furniture.
He ran his hands over his revolver head. He sank deeper into a loss. Since she was a dragon, he should never expect that she shared human's common sense. He regretted his foolish decision to test her. Handling daily problems in his job had been eating his nerves and now he should employ this girl?
'This must be a joke, right? There's no way I can have her worked as a servantalthough she can use that magic thingy.'
"Mister Juzo?" The dragon lady called him, trying to perceive his reaction.
"Huh?" He opened his bear-trap mouth, still in stupor.
"What do you think?" She looked at him with a womanly expectant gaze he didn't really like.
"Tohru… Please, give me a break." He slumped into his sofa, palming his face.
"… Alright." She also took her seat, waiting for him to calm down.
The door of the office opened. A blonde girl in a purple shirt and black shorts went in. A ring piercing under her left lip accentuated her disheveled look, typical of the inhabitants of Kyusei Pit.
"Mister Juzo, I come… What the…" The girl gave a perplexed stare upon seeing the bombshell in maid outfit. "Oi, oi, oi…! Don't tell me…"
"Nice. You come at the right time, Mary." Juzo said, beckoning the new guest to come over.
"Oh, I see…" Mary nodded her head in understanding after hearing the story. "As unbelievable as it is, you're so willing to help Mister Juzo as a form of gratitude."
The Resolver should rely on Mary for this matter and it appeared that it work. At first, Tohru showed an odd hostility towards Mary, but upon finding how well his trusted ally could behave herself in front of the otherworldly guest, she loosened up and talked openly. Now, the two seemed to be getting along well.
"That's how it is, Miss Mary. Do you think it's really bad if I work here?" Tohru asked, earning Mary's sympathizing look.
"I cannot say it's bad, but Mister Juzo and nice people around here generally would consider it as… unsuitable. This area called Kyusei Pit is a hot bed for crimes since most of the residents are immigrants. Well, you know war refugees, right?" Mary elaborately asked.
"Uhm, yeah. I guess, everywhere, people who are robbed of their homes tend to bring harm to the settlers of a country they flock into." Tohru reminisced her time in her previous world.
"That's one part." Mary raised her index finger as her gaze wandered outside the window. "The other one is…"
Tohru's eyes narrowed slightly as she followed Mary's line of gaze. "What might that be, Miss Mary? And why I sense a very strong evil aura from that ominous black tower?"
"What? You can feel that?" Mary asked in disbelief at Tohru's absurd ability.
"Berühren…" Juzo uttered.
"Berühren…?" Tohru repeated, finding the name somehow had a familiar vibe with deities of old.
"It's the name of that company. I don't know how you can sense its evil aura, but sure, we know a lot of stories that something terrible is going on in that place." Mary explained.
"That sounds like a dungeon." Tohru commented. "Are people being tortured there? I can still sense their lingering hatred, desperation and curses from here."
"Aw common, Tohru, don't make it look like a cheap horror fantasy novel." Mary put a wry smile, a cold sweat rolled down her cheek. "That sounds creepy."
"Eh… But that's what I really feel." Tohru sheepishly scratched her cheek.
"If what you imply is a place where monsters spawn, you've made a right guess, Tohru." Juzo exclaimed, gaining surprised looks from the girls.
"Eh? Really?" The dragon girl blinked in surprise. "So there are monsters in there?"
"Ah~… What Mister Juzo mean is there are humans who look like him. The corporation is the sole organization that control Extended technology." Mary replied.
"Extended?" Tohru tried to guess the meaning behind the term. "So, people like Mister Juzo who come from Steel Dragon Tribe are called Extended?"
"Steel Dragon Tribe? What kind of lame name is that!?" Juzo was irritated by the odd naming.
"Buhahahaha…! Steel Dragon Tribe! And you're the chief of the Over-Extended tribesmen! Wuhahaha…!" Mary laughed loudly, pointing at Resolver. "That's funny, Tohru…! Thanks for the joke!"
"OI!" Juzo snapped.
"Ehehehe…" The dragon maid could only give a weak chuckle. "I'm so sorry, Mister Juzo, but your figure really looks menacingly majestic. You truly resemble a leader of the Steel Dragon Tribe."
"Just stop!" Juzo clenched his fist in irk.
Mary jumped out from her seat and nudged Juzo's side. "Hehehe… You see, Mister Juzo, you've got a legit fangirl over here. Don't you think it's a waste if you ditch her?"
"Mary, you forget what we're talking about, don't you?" Juzo sighed.
"Uh, what? Oh!" Mary put a dejected look upon recalling their talk. "Well you see, Tohru, actually…"
"Yes?" Tohru turned to Mary, expecting a more serious matter.
"That organization called Berühren holds an indisputable control over this city." Mary told as she looked at the floor.
"Do you mean that they are some sort of tyrant warlord?" Tohru took the closest term she could get as she frowned.
"You might say so, but what I'm gonna say is if they find out a powerful existence like you who's hiding in this area, they might try to lay their hands upon you. At all cost. They'll capture you, no matter how many lives they should sacrifice." Mary said, her face turned grim.
"In short, your presence here might incite a new war, Tohru." Juzo added, conclusively nailing the meaning of the predicament into Tohru.
Tohru fell silent, her bangs hid her eyes under the shadow. She was deep in contemplation, trying to find her true motive for making an incursion to this world in the first place. As much as she wanted to make her savior happy, the price she should pay for it would be too great since it might threaten his life and the people around him.
And the cause of all this was none other than the doing of this thing called Berühren.
"Then what if I just crush Berühren? Isn't it the source of all the malice in this city?" Tohru said in a resolute tone.
"Eh?" Mary blinked, trying to understand her words. "Eeeeeh…?"
Juzo heaved a long sigh. "That's not a solution, Tohru. I know that you're a dragon, but if you destroy it, this country might collapse. As nasty as it can be, Berühren is the one who make the economy kick right after the great war."
"So, if I destroy it, people will lost their livelihoods?" Tohru asked in surprise.
"Pretty much." Juzo nodded. "I surmised that you came from a place where kingdoms and empires still exist. Am I right?"
"Yes, that's right, Mister Juzo. How do you know that? And what is the deal with this matter?" Tohru put a puzzled look, amazed by Juzo's deduction.
"I guess everybody can tell. And if you know how a country run by merchants work, then you've got what I mean about Berühren." Juzo slipped a cigarette into his mouth and lit it.
"Country run by merchants? Oh, I see! So this country is fueled by money from those lowly humans! Uwah… You know the mechanic of a state until that deep? You truly are a man of culture, Mister Juzo." Tohru exclaimed in astonishment as she cupped her cheeks with her palms.
"Can you stop with that flattery." Juzo blew out some smoke. "And there you go again with your race superiority."
"That's because humans are so vile, unlike you, Mister Juzo." The dragon stated with a tinge of disdain as she turned sharply to Mary.
"Alright, alright. I guess that's cleared everything. So anyway, Tohru, what are you supposed to do now? Surely, you're here not for a vacation, right?" Mary diverted the topic nervously, sweat dropped from her cheek.
"Of course not. I'm here to be Mister Juzo's personal maid!" Tohru replied excitedly, jumping from her seat.
"Here she goes again… " Juzo muttered and turned to Mary. "Mary, she still needs to learn human's common sense. Can I leave her to you?"
"Huh!? Are you kidding me!? Do you mean I should take care of her!?" Mary widened her eyes in protest.
"Help me out this time, would you?" Juzo sent an intimidating gaze to her with that muzzle of his.
"Ugh… You're always putting me into a trouble. It won't be free, okay." Mary growled, shooting an annoyed glare.
"It's a deal." Juzo curtly spoke.
"Heh? Seriously?" Mary's eyes flickered in confusion.
Tohru's eyes widened in surprise upon finding Juzo's intention. "Then, Mister Juzo, do you mean you will hire me?"
"I'll consider that. Learn as many things as you can from Mary." Juzo walked to the nearest hanger to take his trench coat. "I've an appointment now, sorry. See you again."
"Yay! Thank you so much, Mister Juzo!" Tohru bounced from her seat in jubilation.
"Eeeeeh~…" Mary could only put a dumbfounded look as she saw Juzo left his office.
The dragon maid was overjoyed while the other girl was totally confused. They didn't know what kind of thing which changed his heart, but it seemed that he might store some plans in his mind. Whether it would yield result or nothing, for now, they should try.
1 + 1 = 2
Mary decided to move to her workshop with Tohru in tow. They had a talk to clear out the misunderstandings as Juzo had ordered.
"Sorry for being rude, Tohru, but earlier Mister Juzo said that you blew his furniture when he asked you to mop the floor. Hmm… How should I put this…?" Mary scratched her head. "Oh, right. So, what do you think when someone asked you to do so?"
"What do I think? Hmm… Mopping the floor should mean I wipe all obstructions. Clean." Tohru innocently answered as she wagged her green tail. "Isn't that what humans do?"
"Ah… Thought so." Mary rolled her eyes and pointed at the cleaning utensils at the corner of the room. "Alright, Tohru. Can you tell me what are those tools?"
"Brooms like those that belong to witches and… some sticks for flailing convicts, I guess?" Tohru gave a scrutinizing look at the tools. "Now I'm amazed at how those things are in the possession of commoners instead of knights."
"That's…" Mary was at a loss, but maintained her patience through a sigh. "Okay. Those tools belong to us commoners and you can find them in every house. Every house. Now, let me show you how to use them."
The next hours, Mary provided a detailed tutorial for doing chores. The young dragon lady took the lesson attentively, eagerly doing so for the sake of pleasing her benefactor. There were times when Mary let her try to practice and she blew the place, but by undoing the damage, her tutor wasn't mad and encouraged her instead. It was mutually beneficial. By the time they finished, the sun had sunk into the horizon.
"Oh, right. By the way, Tohru, where did you get that maid outfit? You're not working in some cafe, around here, right?" Mary curiously asked.
"Oh! I wear this because I saw some girls in this attire when I was on my way to Mister Juzo's place." The dragon girl answered, her smile turned sheepish.
"So, you're wearing it in a whim? You sure are obsessed with being a maid, huh?" Mary snickered.
"That's because Mister Juzo said so when we met for the first time." Tohru, pursed her lips. "A household assistant is a maidservant, right?"
"I guess you got a point over there, but that probably won't match Mister Juzo's taste." Mary spoke as she massaged her nape lightly.
"Ah! Mister Juzo's taste!? Please tell me what he likes!" Tohru asked with beaming eyes.
"O-oi… Calm down, Tohru." Mary raised her hand before Tohru. "Okay, okay. I'll tell. What he likes is…"
"Uuuh… Miss Mary… Please, tell me…" Tohru gave a begging eyes.
"Cleaning." Mary simply said.
"Cleaning?" Tohru asked, quirking her brows.
"Yeah. Cleaning. He really likes to clean his office."
"Cleaning his office? So, is that why you have me learned cleaning instead of other chore like cooking?"
"Well, that's right. And speaking of cooking, as far as I know, he doesn't have any particular liking for dish. As weird as it might sound, an Over-Extended like him can manage without any food for days, so cooking isn't an urgent skill. You can learn it some time." Mary explained, gaining Tohru's enthusiastic look.
"I see. But he does like coffee, right?"
"Yep. So, remember how you brew it, okay. Cause he likes it." Mary winked.
"Understood, Miss Mary!" Tohru saluted cheerfully.
"Nice. Then, can you answer this question, Tohru?"
"Of course. Because I am a dragon!"
"Then, what's his favorite cigarette?" Mary threw the quiz.
"Tanegashima!" Tohru cheerfully answered as she bounced.
"One hundred for you!" Mary gave a thumbs-up. "And… Duh… I almost forget. About your clothes, just change them into casual wear."
"Casual wear? Like what?" The dragon girl put a dumbfounded look.
"Ah… Don't worry about that. I have some spare clothes. I'll take them. Just wait for a moment." Mary dashed into her room to take the clothes.
"Alright."
[ O – O ]
"Uwahh… Tohru… This is just…"
Mary was staring in a mortified daze at the figure of Tohru who donned herself in a black skirt and a white buttoned-up shirt. The problem was, Tohru's stunning figure had overwhelmed the shirt to the point of nearly snapping all the buttons. Mary couldn't help but cringe in a mix of disbelief and envy.
"Ugh… Miss Mary… Why is this shirt is so tight?" The young dragon lady moved her arms uncomfortably, noticing some faint cracking sounds.
"These boobs! Are these Extension? Where can I get them?" Mary poked Tohru's outstanding assets in murderous envy, casting a bitter look. "And that tail… Can you do something about it, Tohru?"
"I… I'm sorry, Miss Mary. They grow the way they are. But…" Tohru put a sheepish smile and magically retracted her tail. "What about this?"
"Wow. Neat. Dragon is amazing, huh? I guess you look normal now, though…" Mary gave an appraising look, cupping her chin. "Can you also shrink your bust? Guys around here are dangerous beasts."
"Then can I just burn them to ash?" Tohru released a speck of killing intent.
"Definitely no. You'll get in a very deep trouble if you do that." Mary deadpanned, surprisingly standing firm before the threat. "Besides, you'll make Mister Juzo mad for real."
"Uwawawa… T-that's…!" The dragon lady stammered, imagining her supposed master enraged by her. "A-alright."
"That's why, just don't think about it. Behave like a normal girl and stay out of trouble." Mary advised as she placed her hand on Tohru's shoulder.
"Uhm!" Tohru nodded, a very wide smile was on her face.
"Good. I guess… Here. Wear this." Mary offered a yellow hoodie. "In case someone's coming or if you want to go out."
"Hey, Mary, are you there?" A voice of a man echoed around the room with some footsteps.
"Oh! What a good timing… Yeah. I'm here. Wait a moment, Jordan!" Mary replied and turned turned to Tohru. "Geez… Of all people why it should be him… Wait here, Tohru. I'll be back soon."
"Okay." Tohru waited in the inner room, putting a dumbfounded look as Mary left her.

"So, you are a healer, Miss Mary?" Tohru asked in wonder as Mary strode back to the room, putting off her medic's robe.
"Healer? Do you mean doctor? Ah… Yes. Though in my case, I work as an Extended engineer." Mary said proudly.
"Extended engineer? Doesn't it mean that you are healing people like Mister Juzo?"
"Yep. My work is… fixing people who got Extension for their bodies." Mary answered, putting a rather uncomfortable look.
"I see. You must be some sort of saint for them." Tohru exclaimed, putting an awed look. "I heard the man just now thanked you almost without end."
"Well… I'm not that great, okay. Ehehehe…" Mary looked another way, flustered, rubbing her head in embarrassment.
"By the way, what is Mister Juzo's occupation? When I met him six years ago, he was a knight, I suppose." Tohru recounted.
"Ah… You're right. He used to be a soldier." Mary nodded, understanding Tohru's choice of term. "As of now, he's dealing with folks with Extensions. He often solves problems between disputing parties or even finding missing people. His work is… vast since he helps various kinds of people."
Tohru put a pondering look, looking down at the floor. "It's a little bit hard for me to understand, but is he some kind of judge?"
"Judge? Um… He's actually not affiliated with any law organization, but sure, he often works to end some crimes."
"I see… He must be a great person, huh? I believe that it is fate that brings me to him." Tohru rose from her seat with beaming eyes. "Then, I, Tohru, will serve him as his maid with my all!"
"Well, I know how you really adore him and how dependable he is, but somehow, I'm afraid that his straightforwardness might hurt you." Mary told with a slight cringe on her face.
"So how should I behave in front of him, Miss Mary? Would you like to tell me?"
Before the young engineer could answer, the phone in the room rang. She put a rather confused look as she rose from her seat, staggering slightly.
"S-sorry, Tohru. Let me pick the phone. Let's talk about it later, okay." Mary hastily moved and grabbed the phone.
Tohru was left, perplexed. She stared at Mary in her daze, but upon hearing the conversation, her face brightened up. She was happy that the one who talked from the other line was her savior.
That joy however vanished abruptly when a surge of bad omen struck her. It was faint, but she could feel a looming misfortune that might befall Juzo. She shifted restlessly in her seat as beads of cold sweat ran down her face. As soon as Mary hung up the phone, she shot up from her chair.
"T-Tohru… w-what's wrong?" Mary's eyes widened when she noticed Tohru's sudden change of countenance.
"Miss Mary… Is Mister Juzo really alright? I feel that he is in danger." Tohru spoke uncomfortably as she placed her clenched fist above her chest.
"W-wait, Tohru. Please, calm down, okay." Mary gently placed her hand onto Tohru's shoulder. "It's not like Mister Juzo can't handle the problem. He is a very capable man, so don't worry."
"But I feel that tonight he will face a grave danger. I…" Tohru grimaced as tears welled-up at the edge of her eyes. "… I cannot leave him be!"
Tohru pushed Mary aside. She ran past the engineer. Mary turned in a complete shock, trying to catch her, but she had reached the door and dashed out in a breakneck speed, leaving a gust that razed the entire room.
"Tohru…! TOHRUUU…!" Mary screamed as she opened the door while her stuffs were falling to the floor with clatters and thuds.
Author's Note
So, yeah. I'm kinda board. Like… really board that nothing comes up my mind whenever I try to continue my already existing stories. So, rather than waiting for a revelation to fall down on me, I whip this out. :-|
Kind of weird, or maybe too weird? I know, but No Guns Life offers a unique slice of life environment with some cool fights. So, rather than putting Tohru with Kobayashi, I want to maximize her role in this setting.
Well, hope that you like this. I'll check your response later and if you really like it, maybe I'll consider to continue it. :-3
Thanks for your visit and see you in the next story. ;-)
