Legacy

Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto. It rightfully belongs to Masashihi Kishimoto.

Naruto Uzumaki, son of Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki, disciple of the great sanin Jiraiya, hero of the great ninja war,a husband, a father, and a proud jinchuuriki. He was a great man, a great friend, a great leader, and a father who tried his best protecting his family. He was a respectful man, a man of honor and dignity, a man who did not go back from his words, a man who never gave up. Naruto Uzumaki lived a life worth remembering.

Naruto Uzumaki was a great leader. He poured his self in protecting the leaf and making sure it progressed. He was the hokage who considered the whole village his family, always making sure to provide their needs. He did not have a grudge despite how the village used to treat him. From wanting to be accepted and love, to becoming its leader and protector.

Naruto was a good friend. He always was. He never gave up in bringing Sasuke back to the village. Never broken a promise he gave to his friends. Always being there, helping them, and being there for them. He never forgot to thank them for being there, never took for granted their friendship.

Naruto was a trying family man. His responsibilities of being hokage often made him lose time for his family but he did try his best to be their for them. He'd come home often times tired and ready to sleep but his wife understood. This was his dream, and she will always support him. His children, at first did not understand and one resented him but later on they slowly saw what their father was doing. Naruto was a good father who always tried. Naruto was the husband who always made it up for his wife.

Naruto was a proud jinchuuriki and a kind one. He made the fearsome nine-tailed beast his friend, a brother even. Rather than resenting the beast that made his early life difficult, he made an effort to know it. It was not an easy feat but he succeeded. Some would say it was one of his greatest accomplishments. The moment the tailed beast revealed it's name…

"Kurama"

"Kurama!"

Kurama was always there. From the moment Naruto was born he was there. He was there when the village resented Naruto, he was there when they celebrated Naruto as their hero, he was there as Naruto won against the war, he was there as Naruto bought Sasuke back, he was there as Naruto fell in love. He was there as Naruto finally had his own family. Kurama was there.

"Kurama! Don't go!"

Naruto Uzumaki will never forget the day he and Kurama separated. It was painful and it reminded Naruto the pain when he had to say goodbye to his father after the war but somehow losing Kurama was a different kind of pain. Literally, Naruto lost a piece of him. A piece he will always miss for the rest of his life. Naruto Uzumaki, once again, lost a family.

"Dad"

He would catch himself drifting away. The number of times his family had to snap him out of his musing were getting frequent. His wife looked at him full of understanding and concern. Naruto would notice his wife laying a hand on his shoulder or holding his hand. He would smile at her to ease her concern, but he knew her eyes could always see everything. But it does not mean he would not try.

Naruto Uzumaki was not as strong as he was before. He and his friends knew that they were getting weaker. Naruto and his best friend would talk about how their time has passed but Naruto was not worried. They raised a strong generation, a generation who knows peace and are determined to keep it. Naruto knew that the leaf would continue to grow, and if it falls, he was sure it will grow back.

"Naruto!"

He could faintly hear how the people around calling for him.

"Naruto! Don't you dare die on me!"

There was a concerned scream. He knew that voice too well, it almost made him quickly stand up before receiving her fury. Sadly, Naruto knew he couldn't do it anymore.

"Naruto!"

That voice, Naruto suddenly became sad. He wanted to kiss her one last time. To tell her how much he loved her. To thank her for giving him the family he always wanted. Naruto still wanted time with her… He guessed they'll just continue spending their time on the other side.

"Dad!"

His little girl, although she has already grown but she will always be his little girl. Naruto regretted not spending enough time with her. She was always understanding with him. He should've been there for her. The only wish he has for her is that hopefully she felt and knew how much her dad love him.

"No, don't worry he'll come back! He always does, right dad?"

Naruto was so proud of his son. He's grown so much, and Naruto couldn't be prouder. Sadly, he was yet again about to disappoint his son. He knows the number of disappointments he has given his son and regrets leaving yet a last one. His son was strong, and he knew he would get stronger. Naruto was confident with his son. Whatever path his son choose Naruto would always support him.

'The will of fire lives on'

Those were his final thoughts. He was confident about it, the will of fire will never die out and will continue to flare. His fire on the other was already on its last's embers. He smiled weakly before letting the comfortable cold engulf him.

"Oi, Naruto"

Naruto bolted up hearing that voice. It's been so long since he heard him. He opened his eyes and saw Kurama in front of him. There were in a field of flowers, and everything was so bright. Naruto could feel the soft breeze caressing him. He wasted no second before running towards his old friend and hugging him.

"I'm glad you lived well"

Naruto separated himself from the beast and smiled at him. He was happy that he'd finally meet Kurama again after all those years. His smile slowly faltered as he realized what he had left behind.

"Were you able to say goodbye now?"

Kurama asked. Naruto smiled sadly at him and nodded.

"You can never know, but I always did tell them that I love them, maybe that was enough"

Kurama's fist rised and slowly approached it to Naruto. Kurama knew the kid was still processing things, but he was sure he'd soon get used to things. Besides, he isn't alone here. Naruto noticed his fist and did the same to bump it.

"Naruto!"

Naruto turned around and noticed a red hair running towards him. Followed by the familiar yellow spiky hair. Naruto was met with a bear hug and tears of his mother. Naruto returned the hug and took in the sensation of being in his mother's arms once again. His father followed suit. He'll wait here for his own family but hopefully it would still be long before they join him.

"Thank you"

Naruto Uzumaki, lived a life worth remembering.
