"Cress!" Scarlet called from the kitchen. "I've taken them out of the oven, come and try them!"

She heard footsteps from upstairs and a blonde head peek from the doorway. Cress's eyes widened at the baking tray on the countertop. "They look so pretty!" she gasped, looking at the powder blue macarons.

"Good, 'cause you're going to help me assemble them with the buttercream." Scarlett said, handing Cress a piping bag with pale blue buttercream inside it.

"Can I try one now? Please please please?" Cress pleaded; she'd never tried one before.

"Sure, but they won't be as good. And I slaved away making these macarons, and I'm not going to have your first experience ruined. Okay?"

Cress smiled, and got to work assembling them. Ten minutes later, all of the macarons were filled with buttercream and looked delicious.

Scarlet pushed the plate of lovely macarons towards Cress expectantly.

Cress obliged and took one, biting into it carefully. It was slightly crunchy and chewy all at the same time and tasted wonderful. "Oh, that tastes like heaven. Mmmm." She took another one and stuffed it into her mouth triple the speed.

"Good, hm?" Scarlet said proudly. "Well, it's Grandmere's finest, what can I say? I'd better have some too,' said Scarlet, reaching out for a macaron. She closed her eyes in pleasure. "Though if I'm completely honest, I prefer the way they look to the way they taste, though that's not to say I don't like them." She stuffed in another macaron as if to prove her point.

Cress thought they looked and tasted equally delightful, and loved them, because they were perfect. Absolutely perfect.

My dear friend, I would be most honoured if you would do me the kindness

of leaving a certain review, it would be greatly appreciated.
