Part 1: The Genie of the Ring

One morning outside the Smash Mansion, Sonic was sitting in a tree in the garden, reading a book titled 'Sonic and the Secret Rings'. However, it isn't just a work of fiction, for it was written with Sonic's adventures in the World of the Arabian Nights with his genie friend. As he was reading it, he recalls every scenario he went through, whether good or bad, from being shot with the Flame of Judgement, collecting World Rings, turning to Darkspine Sonic, and to bringing the Arabian Nights its story back.

He even encountered characters that looked like his friends. First, Tails as Ali Baba, and Knuckles as Sinbad. Man, he missed his adventures in the World of Arabian Nights.

After he finished reading it, there are two swordsmen who happened to be passing by. Eleven and Sephiroth specifically, since there are lots of swordsmen in the roster, and if he's not mistaken, Link was the first swordsman in the very beginning as Mario told him.

"Heya, El and Seph!" Sonic called them with their respective nicknames. "How are you doing?"

"I just finished a match with Eleven here." Sephiroth replied.

"This early? Man, you sure are getting warmed up for some future matches."

"And how about you?" Eleven asked back. "I see that you're reading a book. Do you like reading?"

"Nah, I don't usually read books, but I happen to journey in storybooks." Sonic said, "But these aren't ordinary storybooks. They are part of my adventures back in my universe."

Then he opens the book he currently read and turned to the page with his picture in it. Eleven and Sephiroth looked closely and were left surprised.

"Is that you in there? You sure went through a lot in your adventures." Eleven remarked

"Truly you weren't kidding about these special storybooks here." Sephiroth added.

"Would you like to hear one? Come sit with me." Sonic invited them, as the two swordsmen did so, sitting on Sonic's each side, with Eleven being on his left and Sephiroth on his right.

Then Sonic turns the page in the very beginning and began reading, along with Eleven and Sephiroth. He read every scenario of Sonic's adventures in the World of Arabian Nights. Some were thrilling, some were sad.

As Sonic finished reading, the swordsmen were amazed.

"That's some story." Eleven murmured in amazement.

"You went through your whole adventure as the genie's master?" Sephiroth asked.

"You know, I'm not the guy who bosses around and gives his servants orders, but I happened to be one when she's about to do something wrong, because I had to." Sonic said.

"And I'm kinda sad about Shahra's death." Eleven recalled. "She sacrificed her life for two things: One is for your life, and the other is to unleash the power of the World Rings."

"And you said that each World Ring contains an emotion. And Erazor absorbed all of them to become powerful. And you dealt with him with the same power. That left me thrilled." Sephiroth added.

"And in the end, you wished three things to him. The first one being Shahra's revival, the second one is the restoration of the story, and the last one is sealing him away. That sure is a lot, and I'm not wrong about you going through a lot. Not to mention about being cursed the whole time."

Sonic chuckled at the swordsmen's comments. "Glad you liked that story, but there's something I would like to show you."

The swordsmen were confused as Sonic turns the book to the very last page, which contained a picture of Shahra's ring.

"See this ring? This belongs to Shahra. I brought it all along in my adventures in the World of Arabian Nights."

Then something was happening. The picture of the ring began to glow. The three noticed this, and Eleven spoke up:

"Sonic, why is the picture glowing?"

That answered his question when the ring came out from the book. The ring was the size of Sonic's middle finger. This left the swordsmen surprised.

"Did the ring just… came out from the book?" Sephiroth gaped.

However, Sonic wasn't surprised, as he wears the ring on his right middle finger.

"And that ring might be too big for me to wear it." Eleven murmured.

Sonic then rubs the ring, and a cloud of pink magic dust came out from it, and went in front of the trio. Once it dissipates, it was replaced by Shahra. Eleven and Sephiroth were dazed in her appearance.

"I am Shahra, the Genie of the Ring. What is thy wish, oh my master?" She stated.

"Hey there, Shahra." Sonic greeted. "I didn't summon you for a wish. Just wanted to see you."

Shahra's eyes then widened upon seeing her friend. "Sonic! What a surprise! It's been a while since our adventure in the World of Arabian Nights." She smiled. Then she noticed the two swordsmen sitting on Sonic's sides. "And I see you have some friends with you."

"Yeah. These are Eleven and Sephiroth. We've met here in the Smash Realm."

"At first, we were only competitors, but as time passes, we became friends." Eleven spoke.

"And what competition are you all into?" Shahra asked.

"Fighting mostly, but for sports and entertainment." Sephiroth replied. "And thanks to the simulator in the battle arena, we don't get hurt that much."

"And they're not the only one though." Sonic added. "There are lots of fighters across the multiverse here to participate as well. I mean, look around you."

Shahra then glances at the scenery of the garden, and there are indeed, other fighters.

Link and Princess Zelda were shown strolling around the meadows of the garden. The kids, Lucas, Ness, Young Link, Toon Link, Popo and Nana specifically, were playing catch near the mansion. Byleth and Bereth (male Byleth) were having tea with Marth and Lucina. Mario and Luigi were having a picnic with Princesses Peach and Daisy. Robin and Robinette (female Robin) were having a chat with Arusu, Solo, and Eight. Bowser was watching his son and the Koopalings having a race with their Junior Clown Cars.

"I see." Shahra murmured in amazement. "And you're not wrong about being a lot of them."

"There's something I would like to ask." Sephiroth interfered. "Genies are supposed to have powers of granting wishes. Do you happen to have one?"

"Of course, I do." Shahra nodded, "But I only grant simple wishes."

"Wanna have a demonstration? Here, I'll show you." Sonic proudly said. "I wish for a single chili dog."

Shahra clasps her hands and creates magic dust on Sonic's hand. And just as Sonic wished for, his favorite food appeared on his hand.

"See?" Sonic then takes a bite of his chili dog.

"Hold on, If the Genie of the Lamp grants only three wishes, does Shahra have a limited quantity of wishes?" Eleven asked.

"I don't know. First, I wished for a handkerchief, then powers of speed-enhancing and slowing of time, a magic carpet, and lastly, a mountain of handkerchiefs." Sonic recalled while taking another bite of his favorite food.

"As you may not know, I have an unlimited quantity of wishes from me." Shahra said. "So, my only limit is that I only grant wishes that simple, like the ones Sonic mentioned, and I did earlier."

"That's beneficial enough for me." Sephiroth mused.

"But we should never abuse the genie's power." Eleven advised. "You know what they say; too much is bad."

"I appreciate your advice, Eleven." Shahra smiled, but then she noticed something on Eleven. "What's that on your left hand?"

Eleven was confused, and shortly he spoke. "Oh, you mean this?" He shows his mark to the genie. "This the Mark of Light. I had it since I was born, because I was Yggdrasil's chosen one, that's why I have the title of the Luminary."

"Yggdrasil must've granted you godlike powers, but have you used it when you were young?"

Eleven shook his head. "No. My powers awoke when I turned 16, while I was trying to save my friend from falling and a monster ambushed us."

"How does that work?" Shahra asked in curiosity.

"This mark glows when I'm in desperate measures, and the same mark appears in the sky, striking monsters down with holy lightning."

"I'm bewildered to hear that. And you must've gone through a lot."

"You know, he's called the Luminary for a reason." Sonic said as he was finished with his chili dog. "From what he said to me, he was chosen to vanquish the dark one threatening his world."

Shahra nods in amazement, and then turned to face Sephiroth. "And what about you, Sephiroth?"

Sephiroth frowned. "I was once a hero in my world, but then when I discovered the truth of my existence, I was blinded by hatred, and I began destroying everything. My heart was filled with darkness at that time. After I was defeated, one of Sonic's friends changed my will, because of her pure heart."

"He's talking about my friend Cream." Sonic simply replied. "And yes, she was pure enough to change people's hearts."

"I see." Shahra mused. "You're lucky that you have a friend like that."

"Yeah, and now Seph's living in my world ever since that moment."

Eleven then felt something on his right hand, as he looked down to see another book between him and Sonic. It was titled 'Sonic and the Black Knight'. It had piqued his interest, so he picked the book up, and opened it. This left Eleven surprised as he saw a picture of Sonic wearing a gauntlet on his right hand while holding a sword.

"Ah, that's another one of my storybooks I ventured on." Sonic said.

"Oh. It seems that you've journeyed in another story." Shahra mused.

"You… you were once a swordfighter?" Eleven gaped, as Sephiroth was bewildered to hear about this fact.

"From what you saw from the book, I'm not kidding about that." Sonic replied. "Say, would you like to hear it?"

Eleven nods and hands the book to Sonic… and then they heard the announcer's voice calling every Smasher for lunch.

"Oh? It's afternoon already? Man, looks like we've spent much time chatting. I'll tell you about this after lunch." Sonic closed the book and gathered the another one. "First, I'll go back to my room to put these books back. Shahra, you can come along."

Shahra giggled in glee as she and Sonic ran inside the mansion.

*time skip*

Sonic was walking in the main hall along with Shahra, who was floating beside him, to find his two trusty swordsmen. Then they met up with Pit.

"Hey, Sonic." The angel greeted.

"Hi, Pit. How's it going?" Sonic greeted back.

"I'm doing fine." Then Pit notices Shahra. "And who's that with you?"

"Oh, I want you to meet Shahra. She's a genie."

"Hey! Lady Palutena told me about them! That means she can grant any wish?" Pit gleefully asked.

Shahra sweat-dropped. "Um… yeah, but—"

"I wish to fly on my own!" Pit exclaimed, interrupting Shahra.

"You have wings. Aren't you supposed to fly by now?"

"I can't. And it's weird, I know." Pit protested.

Sonic chuckled. "Hey, Shahra, can you do that?"

"Uh… I don't know. If I can grant you some temporary powers, maybe I could grant him temporary flight." Shahra said as she created magic dust around Pit. "There. Try flapping your wings then."

Pit did so, and to his surprise, he felt himself lifting from the ground.

"Is it happening?" He asked, then his expression changed into excitement. "It's happening! I'm really flying on my own! My wish finally came true!" Then he flies around the room. "Oh! I know Pittoo had experienced this thing, but he's gonna be so jealous!"

"Pit, what's with all that noise?" A voice spoke. It was Palutena. The goddess was surprised to see her trusty servant flying on his own. "How is Pit flying without me?"

"You can thank Shahra for that." Sonic responded as he nudges his thumb at the genie.

"I gave his wish to fly on his own." Shahra said.

"Of course, it's typical of Pit." Palutena giggled. "He's been wishing to fly by himself."

"But why can't he fly? He's got wings."

"It's his defect from his birth." She then paused before she continued. "I'm Palutena, by the way. From how you said that you gave Pit his wish, does that mean you're a genie?"

Shahra nods at the goddess' question. Then Sonic's two swordsmen came in the room.

"Oh, hey, guys. We've been looking for you." Sonic called.

"Sorry. I just went back to my room to check up on my roommates." Eleven said.

Then the two happened to spot Pit flying around the room. "How is Pit flying on his own?" Sephiroth questioned.

"Shahra did." Sonic sheepishly said.

"I never knew that Pit would have some sort of that disability, and he was wishing to fly by himself." Shahra said with a hint of confusion. "You know, angels are supposed to fly, since they have wings."

"I'm as confused as you the first time I met that flightless angel." Sephiroth said.

Then Eleven realized something. "Hey, Shahra. I recall that you're only a simple genie. And you should know your limits as well, and you know that."

"I know, but he was so desperate to make me grant his wish." Shahra reasoned.

"Well, during his mission, I always grant him the Power of Flight and guide him throughout the mission, but it's always has a limit, for it only lasts for five minutes." Palutena explained, and she turned to Shahra. "And you mentioning that you're only a simple genie, was his wish only temporary?"

"Yeah… it also has a time limit, but I don't know how long." Shahra sweat-dropped.

"At least he's having fun experiencing the thing he'd been longing for." Sonic assured, as the group chuckled.

"Um, Palutena?" Shahra asked the goddess. "Who is… Pittoo? Like Pit mentioned?"

"He's Pit's dark clone, Dark Pit." Palutena replied. "He was an incomplete creation of the Mirror of Truth."

"And from what I heard from her, that magic mirror reflects someone's hidden personality when looked at it." Sonic continued for Palutena. "When you see the dark version of Pit, that's him."

"What do you mean by incomplete?" Shahra asked again.

"That's because Pit shattered the mirror before it was complete."

"However, he gets irked when being called Pittoo." Eleven added. "I guess he didn't like that nickname."

"Oh, my apologies." Palutena giggled. "I was the one who started it, but in my opinion, it's a pretty cute nickname."

Shahra nods, understanding what the group explained. "But Pit mentioned that this dark version of him had experienced flying on his own."

"Well, after Pittoo was created, he used Pandora's remains as the source of his unlimited Power of Flight." Palutena replied. "And while he was on his mission to save Pit, Pandora had escaped from him, meaning that he won't be able to fly by himself."

The genie nods again.

The group then watched Pit, who was having fun flying on his own.

"I'm happy for Pit that he can fly on his own." Sephiroth spoke. "While I fought him, he was so jealous about me flying with only one wing."

Shahra was surprised as he turned to Sephiroth. "Okay, that's another weird thing I've heard. First, an angel who can't fly with his two wings, and now you who can fly with just one?"

Sephiroth chuckled at the genie's reaction. "Might as well show you." He then snaps his fingers, and a single black wing sprouted from his right shoulder. He then levitates into the air.

"You weren't kidding." Shahra was struck in amazement. "But how did he get that ability to gain a wing and fly with it?"

"Well, from what I heard, Sephiroth was born with pure alien cells." Sonic explained. "He gained them when he was injected while he was at his fetal state."

"That alien…" Shahra trailed. "What was it look like?"

"It looked like a woman with blue skin and gray hair." Sephiroth sweated the details. "It had a red eye on its left, but missing a right eye. A large heart was attached to its feet. And on its back, there laid what looked like wings, but its right one seemed broken."

"So, its wings explained how you got yours." Eleven concluded.

"And with those alien cells within him, he had enhanced speed, agility, and many more." Sonic continued. "That reminded me of Shadow, who was also born with pure alien cells."

"I never knew that." Shahra and Eleven murmured in unison.

"Well, I had fun chatting with you guys, but I have to go back to my room with Pit." Palutena said.

"Right. It was nice meeting you, Palutena. And I had fun too." Shahra bowed to show respect.

Then, the happy angel spotted his goddess along with the group. "Oh, hey, Lady Palutena! I didn't see you with all the joy I have!"

This has got Palutena's attention, as she looks up to her servant. "I know, Pit. And would you please come back down now?"

"Be right there!" Pit was about to descend, but he felt his ability to fly is wearing off, and he began to lose altitude. "Oh no!" The fighters and Shahra were alarmed by this.

Sephiroth, with his wing still on him, flew straight to the flightless angel and caught him just in time before Pit hit the ground thanks to his enhanced abilities. The rest then rushed to them, feeling concerned for the angel.

"Are you alright?" Sephiroth asked.

"Yeah. Thanks for the catch." Pit thanked as the one-winged angel helped him to stand up.

Pit flaps his wings again, but he no longer felt himself ascending anymore. "What happened? Why can't I fly now?"

"I told you it had a time limit." Shahra recalled. "How long has it been?"

"It's been five minutes since I heard Pit yelling that he can fly." Palutena summed up.

"Aw, it's only as long as the Power of Flight?" Pit spoke with disappointment in his voice.

"I'm sorry, Pit." Shahra apologized. "I'm only just a simple genie. I can't just grant you an everlasting ability of flight."

Pit sighed, still disappointed about his wish only lasted for five minutes.

"Hey, don't sweat it, buddy. At least you had fun while it lasted." Sonic assured.

"As Cloud says, no hard feelings." Sephiroth added.

Pit smiled. "Yeah, you're right, guys."

"Now, come on, let's get back to our room." Palutena said as she and Pit began to leave.

"By the way, it was nice meeting you, Pit." Shahra spoke.

"Yeah, nice meeting you too, Shahra!" Pit then waved goodbye at the genie. "And thanks for granting my wish, even though it didn't last long!"

The group watched Pit and Palutena walk upstairs until they're out of sight.

"Oh, before I forget, I want to hear your second story." Eleven said.

"Right. Let's head to my room." Sonic replied as everyone went upstairs.
