Chapter 4

"Please, lord guardian, please help us."

"I don't know what you're talking about, kid. You must have gotten the wrong guy."

"I can never mistake anyone for you, my lord. I was there when you came, slaying the vile ganger and saving my family."

The girl continued.

"Those of us who were saved by you come here seeking refuge and have from a small community here a small safe haven in the darkness of the under hive, but the gangers are growing restless my lord they are mounting an attack we need your help my lord."

"Look kid, even if I'm the guardian, what I did was just a spur of a moment kind of thing. I see scumbags doing vile shit and I take them out, saving you and your little sister was just a little happy accident, so why don't you go back to wherever it is that you come from and leave me alone."

And with that I just walk out of sight and teleport away.

"My lord wait."

The girl chased after Mikhail into the corner, but when she reached it, he was nowhere to be found. Dejected, the return to her sister

"What will we do now, big sis."

Reached her hand out to stroke the little girl's head.

"I don't know, sis, but I have faith that he will help us again. Now come on, let's go back to the camp, we will figure out what to do next with everyone."

After a 2-hour trip, the girls finally return to the place where the community has set up.

It could be described as a small little village made out of scrap metal and junk.

With sheets of metal welded together to form a wall and pipe and rusted steel beam as frames.

The village was surrounded with a makeshift barricade which practically is a wall of purposefully stack junk wrapped in barbed wire, not very pleasing to look at but nonetheless it will work stopping gangers from storming the camp.

As the two girls make it to the gate of the camp, they find their father already waiting for them outside the barricade surrounding the camp.

"Girls !"

The man looked old, he was bald with a thick gray beard.

His back hunched from the many years of hard work in the manufacture above, but also tough and muscular.

"What are you two doing outside the camp? Do you know what the ganger would do to you if they find you ?"

"I'm sorry, papa, but we were outside to look for the guardian. The ganger is about to attack any moment now, we need his help."

"It's true, we even found him."

The old man's eyes lit up in surprise.

"What did you really find him? What happened?"

The girl then quickly tells him about their encounter about how they meet their savior and his subsequent departure.

After hearing about what had happened, the man could only give a deep and heavy sigh.

"Oh Emperor, have mercy on our soul, what will we do now ?"

The expression on the man's face is a painful one, containing misery and lost. Just 3 months ago he and his family were still living in the lower hive when a letter came and said that a judgment had been reached concerning the crime of his long-lost and unremembered ancestor and that he and his family must present themselves before the Adeptus Arbites for their verdict.

Knowing all too well what would happen if he showed up, he gathered all of his valuables and sought refuge in the under hive rather than suffer whatever horrible torture that the arbiter have in store for him and his family.

Living in this dark and wretched place was harsh for him and his family; they were taken as slaves by one of the gang here.

The work was not as physically taxing as the one in the manufacture above, but they were much more dangerous and degrading. He had lost his son and wife during the time they were slaves to the gang, and like many others, he has given up hope.

But that was until he arrived. A warrior of unmatch might and skill who one day walks into the gang base bearing a chainsword and slaughtering through horde after horde of gangers.

It was a mesmerizing sight to behold the warrior weaving effortlessly through the hail of bullets and las round and with each swing of his mighty blade a ganger was sure to fall and whenever a round or grenade blast seemed sure to hit a sphere of translucent light would shine to protect him.

He couldn't help but think, is this one of the legendary angels of death which he has heard from the teaching of the Ministorum?

While he looked nothing like what was described to him, what else can this warrior be but an angel of death.

It took only a few minutes but when the smoke cleared and the shooting stopped the gang was destroyed, and the warrior stood triumphantly and unharmed, but before any of us could thank him he had already leaped away, quickly disappearing from our sight.

Later on we rebuilt the camp into a shelter and more and more people began to show up sharing their tell of how they were saved by the guardian and quickly the camp grew into a safe haven for the outcast and those who can't defend themselves.

Thankfully the gang have access to a leak in the water recycling pipe which they build a faucet into, giving us water to drink and hunt whatever critter or bug which we can catch for food.

The ganger who dared to come here was often taken care of by the guardian and his reputation scared away the rest.

But we have been seeing him in action less and less.

With the guardian decline of action we have to defend the community on our own with varying degrees of success with whatever we can get our hands on, the amount of weapons and ammunition we have is limited and running out.

"The gangers are coming ! The gangers are coming !"

A man could be seen running toward the camp, shouting he was running as fast as he can despite his exhaustion.

Hearing this, the old man's face became pale and sweaty, but quickly went into action.

He took his autogun and began to man the barricade.

"You girl to the back of the camp now."

"The gangers are coming ! The gangers are coming !"

With that alarm, those who are able to fight take what weapon they have to man the barricade, those who can not fight are moved to the back of the camp for their safety.

And not a moment too late. Just as they have finish settling into their defenses, the gangers arrive.

Loud, crude and unabashed they were armed to the teeth with deadly weapons suited for both range and melee, their rough armor scar by daily battle are painted with color and symbol signifying the gangs which they come from.

The sheer size of the assembly horde strike fear into the heart of the refuge they have never faced such numerous number of gangers before the weapon they have is just whatever they can savage from dead ganger that the guardian taken down or whatever they manage to come by they don't have nearly enough ammunition to win this.

One of the man come forward from the horde and start speaking to the camp defender

"Alright listen up you Grox sucking maggot I'm gonna get straight to the point either you stand down and summit to us and tell us where that bastard guardian is, and maybe we will go easy on ya, or we're going to rush in there and kill every single one of you."

"OOOOOHHHHHHH"

The gangers behind him howled in excitement; their sadistic bloodlust was obvious for all to see.

Heinz spoke up shouting back from behind the barricade holding his lasgun.

"We don't know where the guardian is. He comes and goes as he pleases, so go back and leave us alone."

Clearly aggravated from hearing that the ganger screamed out, the vein on his head was popping out and the color of his face when red from the rage.

"Well, I don't think so ! I think you know where exactly that frakker is.

Someone's going to pay for killing My Brother and all of our boys and girls tonight, and I swear that on the Emperor's name."

He then continued

"Now I will give you to the count of 3 to make your choices, so choose wisely,"

"1"

...

"2"

...

"3"

"We don't know where he is."

"Well, I guess it's your neck on the chopping block, then. Get them boy."

And with that the fire fight begins as the gangers opens fire charging at the camp. Bullets zip through the air as lasguns beam blow holes and limb off from the fighter on both sides.

While the defenders have the advantage of cover they have very little combat experience and their accuracy was poor, couple that with their low supplies of ammunition it was clear which side was going to win as one by one the defender slowly got picked off under the ganger firepower.

In the back side of the camp, prayers could be heard to both the emperor and the guardian.

"Oh god Emperor grant us salvation through this trying time ..."

"Oh Emperor, save me…"

"Oh guardian, I beg you, please save my family."

"Oh guardian, Oh mighty angel of death, please protect us."

But all hope seems to be lost as finally the gangers has broken through the defensive and begins to round up the survivor, dragging them to the front of the camp.

"Kill them all, starting from the children. I want to let them know how I feel."

The gang boss orders as they start to drag out the children from the group and take out their chainsword and wrenches.

I continued to walk but to be honest it wasn't to find a new place anymore. I was just walking aimlessly to clear my head.

I keep telling myself that I don't know those people and that their problems weren't mine, but the guilt is killing me from the inside fucking hell damn it I have Gamer mind didn't I, why the fuck am I still felling like shit.

And that was when it hit me their prayer, I can hear their prayer to me their desperate plea for help and the terror they felt, and I subconsciously look

They were getting worn down from the gang attack, the defenders were quickly overrun in the course of a few minutes.

After the attack was finished, the gang started dragging out the survivors one by one to the front of the camp and started executing them. Then the gang started dragging out the children.

Fuck this. Fuck this shit hole of a universe, I had more running away, no more being a coward. I'm going to deal with this. I have power, and I'm going to fix this.

I teleported to the front of the gangers who were about to kill the children and grip their head and smiting them, holy light burst out from their eyes burning them out.

The ganger look shock seems like it scares them.

"Who the hell are you ?"

"Your funeral"

Mikhail dashed forth charging into the horde holding the greatsword of Artorias, to begin his slaughter, and once again hope was reignited in the heart of the survivor.

Making quick work of the gangers with his sword. It took less than 3 minute.

Before the fight was over and more than a hundred gangers lay dead and silent.

After that was finished, he turned back to the survivor.

"Bring me all of your dead and wounded now."

I commanded the survivor and the task was quickly carried out. Among the wounded I see the girl that tried to get my help before she has a bullet wound in her abdomen probably from the stray fire and is in critical condition.

I then touched the wound and began healing her with my power, and in a blink of an eye, and she was fine and seeing this the rest of the survivors fell to their knees and begin praying to me.

Not wanting to deal with this right now, I simply continue to heal the wounded in a hurry because what I need to do next must be done as soon as possible.

I went over to the dead survivor and began to bring them back to life.

Putting my hand on one of the dead defender corpses, I cast my mind into the warp in order to look for the refuge soul and grab them.

Their souls were already melting in the warp like a sugar cube in hot water; some have already melted away to the point where I can no longer save them.

It seems that soul don't always get automatically get eaten by a demon in the warp or get taken to the Emperor, or maybe the broodmind was disrupting the process somehow and chase the warp demon away.

I grab the soul, storing them inside me to prevent further damage and return.

"Well, then let's begin, shall we."

Clapping my hand and rubbing them together and holy light glowing in my eye, I proceed to resurrect the dead refuge one by one.
