Working

Disclaimer: Naruto isn't mine.

Just one day… Just one more day. That was the mantra Obito was repeating to himself over and over. It was the last full day that he'd have to deal with Kakashi and his asshole moods.

"Are you listening? I told you to do it neatly." Ugh… I want to punch him so bad.

"I heard you the first time!" Obito really couldn't understand why Kakashi was making him rewrite his homework. It was well known that he was a bit of a dumbass. "And you've already done it!"

"I thought you could neaten it up for me." They both knew that this was bullshit and that Kakashi was making a big thing about this because it was the last full day of their deal. Obito hated writing out long essays and he knew he was making it look worse.

"Can't you just hand in yours?"

"I'll see how it looks when you finish, then I'll decide."

"We both know you're just gonna use yours and then throw mine away."

"You can't be certain." But it was obvious Kakashi was smiling under the mask. He's lucky I'm in a good mood right now.

"There. It's done." He'd rushed the last half but that wasn't his problem. Kakashi glanced at it.

"Not good enough. I'll have to hand in mine." Wow. I am so shocked.

"What was even the point of that?"

"Did it piss you off?"

"What do you think?"

"That was the point." As usual. Kakashi threw the piece of paper Obito had been working on for the past twenty minutes into the bin. He then grabbed his stuff and left. Yet another perfectly good break time he could have enjoyed with his friends, wasted with this asshole. And lunch was no better. It seemed Kakashi was enjoying the control while it was lasted.

"Why can't you just get over this weird complex with your face so we don't have to sit out here in this shithole?"

"How about you don't comment on my business?"

"It's bothering me too! You could just go without lunch for this week."

"I'm not changing my schedule for you." Obito scowled He'd love to walk over right now and see what was under the stupid mask. The guy was such a drama queen it was probably something like a miniscule birthmark or a mole.

"Why are you taking so long today?"

"I'm savouring it." Bullshit. Rin had already been turned down so in some way he was no longer obliged to do any of this. The only reason he was still going along with things was because Kakashi could still go and tell her if he broke it off too early.

"Done." Kakashi walked past forcing the chair into his arms. "Now come and help me."

"With what now?" Please tell me he doesn't want me to clean the toilet before he uses it or something.

"You'll see." He hadn't expected Kakashi to lead him to the teachers' room. It definitely wasn't going to be anything good. Their chemistry teacher (also known as Naruto's dad) Minato was waiting outside.

"Ahh, here you are." He noticed Obito. "And Obito too. I didn't expect you."

"He said he'd help out." What?! Kakashi was seemingly innocent but Obito knew the evil that lurked underneath.

"That'd be great, thanks." Minato led them down the hall.

"What are we helping with?" He felt he ought to know really.

"Setting up equipment for a practical. It's for the younger years so it shouldn't be too much for you."

"Shut up!" Minato glanced back and they both tried to look innocent.

"Ok, here we are." He pointed at a trolley. "I just need you to put out one Bunsen and one tray per desk, ok?"

"Fine." Obito glared at Kakashi. The only reason the boy had volunteered was to drag Obito into it.

"I'm going to grab a few things from the office so can I trust you guys?"

"Sure Minato." Obito knew him well enough to call him by his first name. As soon as the man was out of the room he grabbed a load of tissues, wadded them up and threw them at Kakashi. "You dick."

"I don't know what you mean." Kakashi started shifting some of the things.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about."

"Just shut up and get on with it. If we've done nothing by the time he gets back he'll probably lose it."

"Godammit!" Obito did it though. Minato was nice but could be fearsome when he was angry. Not that he could resist kicking Kakashi as he walked past him. The boy returned the favour on the way back past. After a while they were putting their all into punching each other, the stuff on the trolley completely forgotten.

"What the hell are you two doing?" Minato dropped the pile of papers on the floor and rushed over to separate them. "Are you stupid? There's so many dangerous chemicals in here."

"…Sorry Minato."

"Yeah sorry…" They both still scowled at each other.

"That's not good enough. You're old enough to know what you're doing. Now apologise to each other." This caused absolute horror.

"But-!"

"No excuses!" He was giving them a look that suggested they would be getting more than just a shouting at if they pushed it any further. They knew what they had to do.

"Sorry Kakashi…"

"Sorry Obito."

"Thank you. Now get out of here. If I didn't know you were decent kids, I'd be keeping you both in after school." As soon as they left the room they glared at each other.

"You're a moron."

"And you're a stuck up dickweed." There was no love lost between the two.

"Well you-." He was stopped by the sound of the bell ringing for the last class. "…We'll continue this at work."

"Fine." Another few hours with that prick… Wonderful.

-Page Break-

"I'll leave the keys with you guys. Kakashi, you know how to lock up right?"

"Of course."

"I'll be back as soon as I can but if there's any problems phone Asuma."

"Will do." Kakashi held up the paper with all the essential phone numbers written on it.

"So…Asuma's having a baby?" He knew Asuma and Kurenai were close but the idea of them already having a child was weird.

"No, no. It's my older son."

"Oh. That makes more sense." He pointedly ignored Kakashi slow-clapping. "Congratulations on your first grandkid."

"Thank you! Good luck boys." Hiruzen disappeared leaving them alone for the next three hours. Obito sat down and sighed deeply. It was pretty sucky.

"You sound happy."

"Why are you always reading the same book? God, you're slow."

"Because every time I start to get into it, you distract me."

"It's not my fault you can't stop looking at me." Kakashi kicked him under the counter and he winced. He just managed to stop himself from making some kind of whimpering noise. He wasn't going to give him the satisfaction.

Instead he looked at the clock. Ok, it was boring but at least he got to see the time moving on. Although staring at it for too long did make him feel like it was starting to slow down.

"Oi Obito, go buy me a burger." Kakashi didn't even bother to look at him.

"For fucks sake!" He did it though. Any excuse to leave the shop he'd take. He lingered as long as possible to avoid having to go back.

I should spit in his stupid burger. That'd teach him a lesson. Kakashi would probably work it out though. Obito had always been terrible at lying.

"There's no cheese in this." There wasn't even a thank you.

"You didn't say you wanted cheese."

"You should've known."

"How is that actual logic?"

"You're lucky I'm desperate enough to eat this. Normally I'd make you go back." Kakashi stood up and retreated out back to eat his food. Obito put up both middle fingers in his direction.

God, I hate that guy. The mask thing wasn't even the most irritating thing about him. It was the smug personality that induced the most hatred. At that moment Obito had one though in his head: It would serve him right if I pulled that stupid mask off his face.

Obito couldn't understand why anyone would cover their face up to that extent. It was possible he had some kind of disfigurement or that he was really ugly. Obito, being socially awkward and foolish, didn't think about what the implications of pulling the mask off by force would be. Kakashi was always giving him crap and he didn't seem to have any self-esteem issues. The guy was full of himself. Kakashi returned looking as smug as always. Even the way he walked seemed arrogant to Obito.

"Enjoy your burger?"

"It'll do." He resumed the never ending book.

"Why didn't you just eat it out here?"

"You know why."

"No I don't." He tried looking innocent.

"As if I would take my mask off in front of you."

"I don't get what your problem is. Surely you're not that ugly."

"It's nothing to do with that. And now we're dropping the subject."

"Why do you have to wear it? Just tell me!"

"Because I like it."

"Have you got some kind of scar?"

"It's none of your goddamn business." The rage was starting to build up. By this point Obito didn't care.

"You need to get your head out of your ass. You put that stupid mask on your face because you seem to think people care about how you look."

"You clearly care."

"I don't care about your face, it's your attitude!"

"After this week, I'll never speak to you again, how's that?"

"That's fine with me!" Obito was scowling at the floor. This was what he wanted. But first he had to get him back.

"Kakashi!"

"What?" It was clear that he was pushing him to the limits of his patience.

"Shoplifter!" Kakashi turned to look and Obito leant forward and pulled off his mask.

"Ha!" Now he was going to see what all the fuss was about. He was expecting him to be ugly or even to have something wrong. Instead all he could see was a normally proportioned, normal featured face. That also looked extremely angry.

"What the hell are you doing?!"

"But you look completely normal!" There was no reason for him to be wearing a mask at all. Kakashi grabbed it back and pulled it back over his face. He then picked up his stuff and started to leave.

"Hey! Wait!"

"Go fuck yourself!" For some reason he was really offended by this.

"But-!" The door slammed,

This is a problem… I am so screwed right now. Pissing off Kakashi was only part of the problem. There was no way he was going to be able to lock up this shop alone.
