Harry Potter had just transferred to a little supernatural town called Forks in Washington State, USA. He finally managed to escape the UK after the most disastrous year yet at Hogwarts. He was involuntarily entered into the Triwizard Tournament and watched as Voldemort tried and failed to resurrect himself in the cemetery of Little Hangleton. Harry didn't know what went wrong, but the Goblins told him that he had broken the prophecy and shouldn't need to return to the UK ever again.
That was something that Harry didn't understand about the wizards of the UK. They chose to ignore all wisdom and knowledge from the Goblins, a race that lives far longer than the wizards and collect information far more meticulously. Harry was glad that he met Griphook when he was eleven and chose to become friends with him. Harry had asked for the Goblins' help after being forced to play along with Dumbledore and the Ministry.
Harry was able to escape from the UK and claim protected refugee status in the United States. He decided that he would escape England and leave behind all the people that pretended to care about him. He wished he had more time to spend with Sirius, but they hadn't gotten to know each other all that well since Dumblodore was determined to keep them away from each other.
Harry moved in with his wizarding US Marshall and CPS agent, Mrs. Nettle. She was a woman in her early 40s and was pretending to be his adoptive mother while he was in this country. Harry was happy that he would be able to have a normal high school life starting now. He studied over the summer to catch up to his high school muggle learning and will be continuing in a public school. He will attend his muggle classes during the first half of the day and spend the afternoon, after lunch period, with the special magical tutors at the public high school.
Today was his first day at Forks high school. He was nervous since he hadn't met any of the other teenagers in the town yet. He had been secluded to his house on the outskirts of the town for the first week that he was in the US for his own protection and to study before the start of the new school year.
As the day progressed, Harry was amazed by how different this school was from Hogwarts and his old primary school in England. He hadn't made any friends since the day began but he noticed that most students stayed in their own groups. They hardly talked with the other students at the school and that reminded him so vividly of the divide between Slytherin and Gryffindor that for one moment, he missed his old school. The moment passed as the bell rang and all the students stood from the class to move to the cafeteria for their lunch period.
As Harry walked into the cafeteria, he noticed one table of stunningly beautiful beings. These must be the vampires Mrs. Nettle had warned him about. She had told him to be cautious with the vampires since they seem to be settling some internal conflict, but to Harry they seemed to be quite okay with each other.
Harry decided to sit at the only empty table in the cafeteria since he had brought his own lunch. Soon after he sat down, others started sitting around him. He noticed a few people from his previous classes. There was the puppy-like kid - Mike, the stuck up girl - Jessica, and the quiet girl - Angela. There were a few other kids he didn't recognize, but it didn't bother him too much.
"Hey, my name is Jessica! It's nice to meet someone new at this high school." Jessica grinned at Harry and stuck her hand out for a handshake.
"Hi, I'm Harry. It's nice to finally meet other people my age here." Harry shook Jessica's hand and smiled at the group of teenagers.
Across the cafeteria, Jasper Whitlock was sitting with his "siblings" watching the new arrival from the corner of his eye. It isn't often that a new student comes to this school even at the beginning of the year. He was intrigued by this beautiful, seemingly shy boy. He smelled different from the other students, but his scent is nostalgic. It's as if Jasper has smelled other people with the same spicy undertones to their scent before.
He would watch this new student for a little bit longer. Just as he was thinking about leaving, he got a notification on his cell phone. He looked at his phone and saw a text:
Peter W.
Talk to him. You'll love it ;)
Jasper was intrigued. He hadn't heard from Peter or Charlotte in over six months and thought it would be best to follow his brother's advice. The last time he took Peter's advice, he changed his name back to his birth name, Jasper Whitlock, and was able to free himself from the Cullen/Hale family. He still loved them, but he was 20 when he died and he didn't think he needed to keep reliving his teen years. He promised to graduate one last time with his family before moving back to the south with Peter and Charlotte.
Jasper stood abruptly from his seat and began walking over to the new boy and the other teenagers that liked to gossip about the Cullen family.
Harry looked up as he heard a chair screech backwards. He saw a gorgeous blonde stand up and stare right at him. He could feel his breath hitch as the man started walking toward him. He barely heard Jessica as she hissed, "That's Jasper Whitlock. Be careful with him. He got into a fight with his family and changed his name over the summer. People say he's been to juvie and that he spends his time hunting in the woods around his house."
Harry didn't like that these people he had just met were so ready to gossip about others in their school, Jessica reminded him a lot of Lavender and Parvati.
Jasper stopped in front of the new kid, Harry. He stopped before him and waited for him to look at him.
"Hello, darling. My name is Jasper." Jasper stated in his southern drawl.
Harry blushed at being called a pet name by this handsome man. "Hi, my name is Harry." He responded shyly. Nobody had ever looked at him so intensely in his entire life.
"Harry, darling, come on a date with me." Jasper stated spontaneously. He didn't know where that came from, but he knew that's exactly what he wanted as soon as he said it.
Harry was stunned by Jasper. He had never been asked on a date before and he never expected the first person to be a stranger, and a male at that. Harry knew it was a bad idea, he was a refugee in this country and he was fairly certain Jasper was a vampire. But he wanted to have happiness in this country.
"Okay, I'll go out with you." Harry said quietly with a shy smile.
"Perfect, darling." Jasper stated with a smirk. "I'll pick you up from your house at 5 tonight." Jasper winked at Harry and walked out of the cafeteria. Harry watched him go with a stunned smile on his face and butterflies fluttering in his belly.
Harry was anxiously waiting on his front porch for Jasper to pick him up. It was 4:55pm, but he was nervous that Jasper wouldn't show up. He hadn't realized until he was home that he hadn't told Jasper where he lived. He shouldn't have worried so much since an unfamiliar car pulled into his driveway and Jasper stepped out.
"Are you ready to go, darling?" Jasper asked him.
"Yes, where are we going?" Harry replied.
"I thought I'd take you out to see a movie and then we could take a walk through the town. I've lived here for a long time, but you've only been here since the summer."
"That's perfect," Harry replied.
Jasper took Harry's hand and walked him to the car. Once Harry was settled, Jasper drove them to the movie theater. In the short drive to the movie theater, Harry and Jasper talked about mundane things like their classes and the hobbies they had outside of school.
The movie was enjoyable and gave Jasper and Harry something to talk about on their walk. They walked down the street hand in hand as Jasper described the building's and their history to Harry. Harry was fascinated by the amount of knowledge this one man could hold.
When they were half way down the long main street of Forks, they saw a man sitting on the edge of a fountain while playing his guitar. Harry couldn't pinpoint the song being played, but it sounded like a love song.
"Would you do me the honor of dancing with me, sweetheart?" Jasper asked Harry as he extended his hand out to him.
Harry shyly took Jasper's hand and was abruptly pulled into Jasper's torso. Jasper wrapped one arm around Harry's waist and clasped their other hand together. Jasper started to sway them in time with the music playing in the background.
Harry stared into Jasper's eyes as they continued to dance in the middle of the sidewalk. The streets were deserted as grey clouds had been rolling into the town since earlier in the afternoon. As the sky finally opened up and rain fell to the earth, Harry started giggling as Jasper continued to spin him around the sidewalk. Even as the guitarist packed away his instrument and ran for shelter, Harry and Jasper continued to dance in the rain.
When the air grew so cold that Jasper worried for the young man in his arms, he decided that they should walk back to the car. When they arrived back at Harry's home, Jasper walked him to his front door.
Jasper leaned down to kiss Harry softly on his cheek before he stepped back and said, "Good night, darling."
Harry watched on, dazed, as Jasper got back into his car and pulled away. Harry touched his lips as he turned back into his house and wandered back to his room. He couldn't wait to see Jasper again tomorrow.
