These machines of war were to be used to fight our wars for us. To reduce the casualties.
What fools we were. We never stopped to consider what would happen. What would happen when there was no foe to fight.
They struck suddenly, swiftly and as mercilessly as a storm. Many countries were lost in the first month, and the death toll was... *is* too high to bear recording.
Our Mobile Suits and their scorching beams could do nothing against them. Why would they? We had built the Mobile Armors specifically to combat the Suits. What use is a beam rifle-or saber- against Nano-laminate armor and the most advanced combat AI of the time?
We fought valiantly. With honor. But what good is honor to the Machines?
We grew desperate.
And so we come to this. These new Mobile Suits. Agnika's calling them "Gundams", an abomination to the English language in the form of a mish-mash of the word "Gun" and "Freedom".
A noble sentiment. To be free of the need for guns.
Personally, they look more demonic than peace-bringing.
Apparently, these "Gundams" have two special features installed on them. Bauduin's calling the implants needed to use the Suits the "Alaya-Vinjiana System".
It worked off surgically attaching an artificial cerebral cortex to the spine. The more implants, the more risk of death. The more implants... the more power we gain.
Talk about a deal with the devil...
I myself have only taken the surgery twice. I have never felt such pain before.

The other, and most important factor in our coming battle is the Twin Linked Ahab reactors. Dunno how Fareed managed this. Usually putting more than one reactor in a Suit makes it go nova. Guess he found a way around it.
