Miranda, I told you to wear a dress." Her cousin Crystal announced walking into her room.
"To a basketball game?" Miranda stated in disbelief rolling her eyes.
"Yes. We are not going just to go. We are going to find men. Preferably a ball player." She stated.
"I'm a single mother. I just got divorced and I'm finally back on my feet. I don't want to date nor am I looking to date."
"Mandy at least wear heels." Crystal pleaded.
"If you think. I'm wearing heels all night crystal you have lost your mind. I look fine."
Miranda rolled her eyes and looked her self over. She had on tight flitted jeans, a green and tan, woman's jersey with a rattle snake on it for the team Saskatchewan Rattlers. Apparently, Crystal liked the players on this team. They were going to see the Canadian Elite Basketball League.
Crystal walked out of her closet handing her a tan pair of Lace Up Retro Stiletto Heels Sling Back Suede Knee-high Boots with a Sexy Peep Toe.
Miranda remembered buying them with Callie right after her divorce, but she never got a chance to wear them.
"I'm only wearing these so you can leave me alone." Miranda sneered.
"Fine by me." Crystal smiled walking out.
Crystal moved in with Miranda after her and Tucker got a divorce. She had just moved into her new house and she needed a place to stay, after getting a job in Seattle. Miranda wanted her cousin to have motivation and better a work ethic.
She was a medical assistant and always looking to marry a rich man, so she could quit.
Shaking her head Miranda grabbed her purse and keys walking down stairs.
Arriving at the game. Miranda rolled her eyes as she walked into the stands and Crystal sat beside her friends.
She didn't like any of those women and they would never be people she would want to hang around on a regular basis.
"Oh my God look how sexy Ben Warren is." One of Crystal's friends Paris pointed at the man wearing jersey number 24.
"His birthday is next week and he is having a huge extravagant party." Jade informed the group.
"We need to figure out how to get in." Crystal added.
"Let's go to the after party." Paris chimed. "My girl got the hook up. "
Crystal looked over at Miranda. "Is it okay if I go? I know we were out together."
"It's fine. I'm going to go home and take a bath. I have work in the morning." Miranda told her. "And so do you."
"I'm not going to stay out to late." She promised.
Miranda watched the game and listened as people continuously talked about Ben Warren. She had never heard of him till today, but then again, she didn't do sports. And definitely didn't keep up with the Canadian Elite Basketball League. They made a little bit less than the NBA.
After the game was over Miranda hugged her cousin and walked to her car. Driving she pulled up to the gas station getting out to pump when she saw a Rolls-Royce at the other side of the pump. She watched as the man touched around looking for the gas tank.
"Ben Warren Number 24 Saskatchewan Rattlers." Miranda said getting his attention, but was in disbelief she had just seen him playing on the court and never imagined seeing him in person.
Ben smiled and looked up as his name was called. He nodded at her.
"Miranda Bailey" she introduced herself quickly and confidently.
"Nice to meet you." Ben smiled.
The gas tank is on the right side." She recited.
"Really." Ben laughed walking to the other side of the car and saw it. " Thank you."
" You're welcome. The button to open it is on your left under the lights."
Miranda watched as he turned his car around and opened the gas tank.
"You know a lot about cars?" Ben questioned.
" I actually don't. I saw it on tv the other night." Miranda giggled. "You just got it?" She questioned.
"Yesterday." He laughed sheepishly. "It's nice. I love the interior." Miranda complimented.
Ben smiled. He was excited that this woman didn't fan girl him. He wondered why that was though.
Miranda walked back over to her car to pump the gas.
"Wait I got it." Ben announced racing over to her. He put his hand over top of hers to stop her from putting her card in.
Pulling out his wallet. Ben pulled out his black card and stuck it into the machine. Before pumping her gas.
"Thanks." Miranda smiled softly taking in his cologne.
"No thank you for your help." Ben stated. He took the time to look at her outfit and noticed her jersey with his number.
"You were at the game tonight?" He asked.
"Yes, I was. You did good." Miranda admitted at least that's what she heard people say. She didn't know one thing about basketball other than the three-point line and free throw line.
"You don't know anything about basketball, do you?" Ben asked curiously.
"Damn was it that noticeable?" She laughed.
"A little bit."
"My cousin Crystal dragged me along." Miranda told him.
"Okay well at least she likes the right team."
" Not to be nosey, but is that a clinical journal of anesthesia on your seat." Miranda asked.
"Yes, I'm actually and anesthesiologist." Ben informed her looking down.
"Wow really how do you do both?" Miranda questioned smiling. He was so different than the average ball players.
"I did basketball in high school and in college, but it's not guaranteed that you will go to the NBA or how long your career will even last. So I studied biological medicine went to medical school and became an anesthesiologist."
"That had to be hard." She stated wanting him to elaborate.
"It definitely was. I got picked up by the CEBL and did medical school at the same time so if you can imagine."
"I can imagine. I'm a doctor as well."
"What kind are you?"
"I'm a surgeon and a physical therapist." Miranda stated.
"How did you get into both?"
"I always wanted to be a surgeon, so I went to medical school, then surgical residency. I love surgery, but a lot of times patients couldn't afford physical therapy right after and insurance companies were difficult. So, I wanted to do something about it. I went back to school while being a surgeon and I became a physical therapist as well. I opened a free rehabilitation clinic." Miranda explained.
"Damn that's hard work and so admirable. Dr. Miranda Bailey."
"Thank you. Dr. Ben Warren. It was nice meeting you."
"It was nice meeting you too. Have a goodnight." Ben said walking to open her car door.
"You too." She smiled softly as he shut it.
Miranda looked away as she put her car in drive.
"Wait." Ben shouted getting her attention.
Miranda put her foot on the brake and looked over at him.
"My birthday is next week. I would like for you to come."
"To Canada?" Miranda questioned looking at him like he had three heads.
"No, I live here in Seattle."
"You do?" She asked shocked.
"Yeah, I did my residency here. It's only a two hour and 30-minute drive to Canada from here.
"Wow... um okay then."
Ben handed Miranda and invitation and they said their goodbyes.
Miranda droves home and opened the door. She saw Morgan on the couch with Tuck who was sleeping.
"When did Tuck get here?" Miranda asked confused.
"Tucker dropped him off about 20 minutes ago. He said something about he had to work early."
"He's a liar." Miranda breathed irritated. She knew he probably wasn't even working tomorrow.
Miranda took her heels off and sat on the couch beside them.
"Did you guys have any luck in getting into Ben Warren's party?"
"No girl and that after party was hot as hell and he wasn't even there but for 10 minutes. I will probably be right here with you and Tuck."
"That's too bad." Miranda teased. "Because if you're at this house then you won't be at this house." She said excitedly showing her the invitation.
"Oh My God. How did you get it?" She said loudly waking Tuck.
"He personally invited me himself." She gloated grabbing her son and pulling him into her lap.
"Since when do you know Ben Warren?" Crystal asked sitting up.
"Since I met him at the gas station 20 minutes ago. He couldn't open up the gas tank on his Rolls-Royce until I helped him."
"Since when do you know about a Rolls-Royce?"
"Since tv, but that's besides the point. He was walking around trying to find it. I told him where it was. He thanked me before paying for and pumping my gas."
"Ooh so tell me about him."
"He was really sweet, and nice. I didn't expect that from a ball player or a famous person at all. He was down to earth and he is a doctor." Miranda explained gushing.
"You're not feelings this guy, are you?" Crystal asked looking at Miranda as she smiled and blushed talking about him.
"Me? No. I told you I'm not interested in dating."
"Okay. I'm so excited." She squealed standing.
Miranda picked up her son and carried him upstairs. She tucked him in and then got his stuff together for daycare tomorrow.
Saturday evening came and Miranda was busy getting dressed. She let Crystal do her make up, well she insisted. She did a gold smoky eye with black eyeliner and eyelashes. Then she put on nude brown glossy lip-gloss.
Miranda straighten her hair and had it going to the side. After putting on her gold jewelry she put on her dress.
Callie helped with picking it out and she loved it. It was a satin emerald green body con, one shoulder sleeve dress. She used a half a push up bra to make sure her breast was up high and sitting right. She dressed in some lightly padded insole spiral heels. That were gold and had rhinestones.
"Crys are you done." Miranda asked walking into her room.
"Yes. You think this is too much?" She asked turning in a circle so Miranda could see. She had on a royal blue long sleeve dress with a plunging neckline and silver heels.
"No. It would be a different story if I had it on." Miranda laughed. Her breast would be spilling out.
"You look amazing." Crystal complimented.
"Thank you." Miranda smiled turning to show her the whole thing.
The two arrive at his house and Miranda awed it was beautiful and huge. She would love to spend a day in this mansion she thought to herself.
The valet opened her door and she handed him her keys.
Miranda walked inside and marveled at the huge chandelier and grand foyer.
Ben looked up as Miranda walked into the house. They locked eyes immediately as he looked her up and down repeatedly. She was absolutely stunning. The dress she was wearing was sexy and hugged her curves. He noticed her shape in her jeans the other night, but this was even better.
Miranda stared at him and took in his appearance. He was incredibly handsome and looked sexy in a suit she had to admit.
"He's looking at me." Crystal told her smiling. Miranda broke her gaze from him to look at her cousin.
"Huh?" Miranda mumbled. She was sure he was looking at her.
"I'm going to go look around and mingle." Crystal told her over the loud music and Miranda nodded.
"I'm going to the bar." She smiled walking in the opposite direction.
He watched as she walked over to the bar and leaned over so the bartender could hear her.
Miranda ordered a glass of bourbon. Receiving her drink, she sipped it a few times.
"Hey you made it." Ben smiled.
"Hi." Miranda greeted putting her drink down. She handed him a black and gold gift bag. "Happy birthday."
"Thank you so much. You didn't have to get me anything."
"It's okay. I wanted to."
"Can I open it now or shall I wait."
"You can open it now if you want to." Miranda cheesed.
Ben pulled her hand and they walked around the corner to an empty room.
"Why are we here?" Miranda asked looking around.
"I figured you didn't want to be in the media about you giving me a gift for my birthday. The speculations of dating and all those other things." He explained.
"Thanks. Why is this room empty?" Miranda questioned it had white walls, beautiful hardwood floors, a brick fireplace but that was it.
"I just haven't thought of what to do with it yet. There are so many rooms in this house. I don't know what to use this one for."
Miranda stood for a moment looking around. "What rooms do you have already?"
"Media/movie, fitness/home gym, indoor pool/spa, basketball court, game room, man cave, and living room.
"Where do you keep all your books?" Miranda asked.
"All over in different rooms."
"Home library." Miranda suggested. "There is a fire place already. Fill the walls with bookcases. And books, Clinical journals, medical books, and etc. Get a rug for in front of the fire place two couches and armchairs that recline and fluffy blankets
Ben smiled at her idea. "Thanks. I thank I'm going to take you up on that."
"I want to see it when it's done." Miranda admitted then blushed because that implied that they would keep in contact and that is not what she wanted.
"You'll be the first." He beamed.
Ben opened the gift bag finding a black box inside, opening it. He smiled widely. It was a keychain with Caduceus the symbol of medicine intertwined around or going through a basketball. "Thanks Miranda." Ben expressed pulling her in for a hug.
Miranda gasped then hugged him back his scent flooding her nostrils and senses.
"This was extremely thoughtful. A lot of people don't even know I'm a doctor."
You should change that. Demand that respect. You worked hard and earned that title "Dr. Benjamin Warren. You are not only and athlete, but a damn doctor and I'm sure a damn good one."
Ben looked over the short, curvy, and exceptionally feisty doctor.
" I will be starting today. "
"Good."
"Hey there you are. We are getting ready to do the toast." Brian Ben's publicists and manager interrupted.
Miranda walked out with Ben and they split ways.
After the speech Miranda walked back over to the bar. She looked as Crystal was making her way over to her but was Stopped by one of Ben's teammates.
She couldn't really hear what they were saying but they were all laughing and talking.
"I just told him that we were leaving." Crystal murmured to Miranda.
"Why in the hell would you do that?" Miranda asked shocked.
"Because you said he was different, so I gave him different. When was the last time someone left him and his party early?" Crystal explained.
Miranda rolled her eyes and stood as Crystal walked towards the exit.
"Come on Miranda."
"I'm coming I have to say goodbye first." Miranda said before walking towards Ben.
"Hey thanks for inviting me. I had a good time, but I have to go." Miranda said sadly.
" What don't go?" Ben pleaded.
"I have too." She frowned.
"Where are you going?"
"I uh got called into work." Miranda lied.
"Can I walk you out at least." Ben suggested.
"No, its okay. Stay enjoy your party Dr. Warren." She smiled causing him to smile.
"Good night, Dr. Miranda Bailey."
"Goodnight and to you gentlemen too."
Ben watched Miranda walk away and he was mesmerized by her hips and round ass."
"You know the object is to not let them leave." Darren laughed.
"How did you manage to get two beautiful women to leave?" Brian stated.
"I didn't she had to go to work." Ben acknowledged.
"Did you see the girl in the blue dress." James asked.
"What girl?" Ben asked genuinely confused.
"Bro she came over and had a conversation with the four of us."
"She did?"
"Yeah." They laughed.
"You were so busy focused on the woman with the green dress on." Anthony stated.
"She is beautiful." Ben said dreamlike.
"No, but did yall watch her walk out." James asked.
"Yeahhhh." All four men said laughing.
"she had an ass on her. "
"Massive."
"Impeccable
"I mean--
"I want her." Ben cut off his statement letting them know. Not to go any further.
