Miranda got back to Ben's house and used her key coming inside. She walked upstairs to his room knocking lightly on the door.

"Ben... Ben can I come in please?" Miranda waited a few seconds, but he didn't respond.

"I'm coming in." She stated opening the door.

Ben sat up and took his head phones out as Miranda walked in.

"Ben from the bottom of my heart I'm so sorry I had no idea --

"Is this apart of your job?" Ben asked roughly.

"What? No." Miranda replied confused.

"Then stick to your job." He snapped standing wobbly.

Miranda eyes widened and she bit her lip. Ben eyed her and he could tell he hurt her feelings. Her brown doey eyes held sadness and a little bit of anger.

He watched her walked out and then he sat back down ,laying back. He wanted to apologize, but she was already gone.

Ben laid in bed for few days not doing anything in particular but just thinking and listening to music. He stayed off the internet not wanting to read the blogs and comments.

His brother and Miranda informed him when his friends would call or stop by. He just wasn't in the mood to talk or hangout.

Miranda studied his scans and even consulted with Her best friend Callie on them. She helped her come up with a plan and she was ready to start his therapy again. She would ultimately just have to force him out of his room.

Miranda opened Ben's room door and walked inside holding a bucket of ice. She watched Ben sleep for a second. She contemplated on waking him up, he was sleeping peacefully, but then she thought about his rudeness and bad attitude. Before she knew it she was dumping ice on him.

"Get up." Miranda said firmly as Ben jolted out of his sleep.

"What the?! Miranda what are you doing?" He shouted.

"Get up." She repeated. "You're coming with me."

"I'm not going no where." He responded irritated.

Miranda pursed her lips and tossed more ice on him.

"You are coming with me." Miranda said firmly.

"I'm not--" Ben started but quickly stopped when Miranda lifted the bucket in the air again.

"OKAY OKAY." He surrendered holding his hands up.

Miranda stood watching him. Waiting for him to move.

"I got to get dressed." He huffed throwing the covers back. She smirked to herself walking out the door.

Ben walked outside with an attitude and saw Miranda sitting in her car. He opened the door and got inside.

"You gonna have an attitude all day?" Miranda questioned.

"Yes when someone is keeping my against my will."

"I am not keeping you against your will. You willing got in my car." Miranda laughed loudly.

"After you demanded me and assaulted me."

"You are so dramatic. Assaulted you with what? Ice."

"Yes ." Ben confirmed.

Miranda drove the two hours to the Canadian border while they listened to music and little conversation.

She pulled up and parked in the parking lot of a basketball court. Ben reached and took the key out the ignition and Miranda looked surprised. Getting out he walked around and opened her door.

"Thank you." She smiled.

"How did you know?" Ben asked looking at the court.

"I'm a fan." Miranda replied

Ben pursed his lips looking at her unconvinced.

"Okay. I did a little research on you." She cheesed.

"My dad brought me here when I was 6 and we played ball all day. Curt was 1 at the time. I practiced on this court three times a week. I couldn't come everyday like I wanted too because it was two hours away."

"Look at all the talent these kids have." Miranda told him. " but no matter how good they are some of them will never make it to the NBA let alone the CEBL."

Ben looked at the kids playing and back at Miranda.

"But not you. You're blessed. You made it, your dream came true." She smiled lightly.

"Is this what you do?" Ben questioned looking at her intently.

"What?"

"Give good speeches."

Miranda laughed "yep and lectures."

"Guys look it's Ben." A teenager yelled.

"Looks like you've been spotted." She exclaimed laughing at the crowed running over.

Ben shook all the young boys hands and smiled trying to answer all their questions.

"Watch his knee?" A boy shouted.

"What are you doing here?" Another asked.

"Just visiting." Ben and Miranda answered simultaneously.

"We need you back in the league." One stated.

"I'm coming." Ben smiled lightly. "You really think you can get me back by the playoffs?" He asked turning looking down at Miranda.

"Yeah. We got 8 weeks, but you are going to hate me when I'm through with you." She laughed.

Ben nodded smiling himself. Miranda's smile was contagious. He couldn't help but to smile.

"Let me see yall play." Ben encouraged.

"Yeah show him how it's done." Miranda teased walking towards the bleachers.

It was the first time he really took in her outfit. She had on a black sun visor hat, blue shirt, black leggings, and black Nikes. She look good.

"How long has it just been you and Curt?" Miranda asked curiously when he sat beside her.

"My mom passed right before my college graduation. She had breast cancer. I miss her more than anything. She was my best friend and also another reason why I love this basketball court. Whenever I had a lot going on or when I felt like the weight of the world was on my shoulders. We would come and just lay down on the middle of this court. I still do it now."

"My dad passed away a few years ago. He was a great dad. Since I was a kid he spent all his time with Curt and I. He took us on trips and camping. He was fun and he understood us."

"I know they would have been extremely proud of you Benjamin." Miranda stated rubbing his thigh.

Ben chuckled looking at her.

"What?" Miranda mused.

"You're the only one that calls me by my full name, most people just call me Ben." He told her.

"I like Benjamin." She giggled. "It can be our thing because I'm not going to stop calling you it."

"I like that Miranda."

"You're the only one who calls me Miranda." She confessed.

"Well what do people call you?"

"My friends call me Bailey and My parents call me Mandy."

"I like Miranda. Its a beautiful name and I think the name chose you." He smiled.

"How so?"

"The name Miranda means to be wondered at, to admire, or worthy of admiration. You are definitely the perfect example of your name."

"Thank you, that is sweet of you to say." She blushed.

"...How do you know that?" Miranda asked genuinely.

"In college I took an English course and we went into detail about Shakespeare's work. Shakespeare was the first person to pin the name Miranda in his play. He created the name for the heroine in his play, the tempest. She was said to be a beautiful character. It didn't become popular in the US until the 20th century."

Miranda listened as he explained he was very smart and knowledgeable.

"So Miranda, what about you and your parents. Is it just you or siblings?"

"My parents are William an Elena Bailey. They are doing fine and they live in Baltimore which is where I'm from."

"No wonder you drive like that." Ben stated.

"Like what?"

"Like you're from the city. I bet you had no problem adjusting in Seattle."

"I did not." Miranda laughed. "…My sister died before I was born, so I didn't have any siblings growing up. I wish I would have though. I was always alone." She expressed.

"I'm sorry." Ben said sympathetically.

"It's okay. I didn't know her so I just wish I did, I feel sorry for my mom though because I couldn't imagine losing a child. My son is everything to me."

"I know you told me but, You Miranda Bailey has a son?" Ben stated puzzled.

"What? Is that so hard to believe?" Miranda asked getting offended.

"No, not all. It's just you're a beautiful and talented woman with not one, but two careers. You having a baby is so much more commendable because I know it was hard." Ben cleaned up.

"Thanks and it was and is hard. I have a time consuming job, so I don't have time like I should. I want to be at his preschool graduation, his kids basketball and soccer games, but I can't make it." Miranda said sadly.

"Miranda you are doing what you need to as a mom which is providing for him and you are ultimately showing him what determination looks like. If need be you can bring him over to the house. He can stay here when ever while we are doing my therapy, that way you can spend as much time with him."

"Aww really thank you Benjamin Warren. Miranda said hugging him tightly. "And for the little pep talk. Something tells me your good with speeches too."

" I mean I don't want to brag but I'm a champ."

"Shut up and show me on the court."

"5,6,7,8." Miranda counted as Ben did the leg press.

"Push it out." She instructed. "Trust your leg."

Ben pushed and pushed at her encouragement as sweat drenched his body.

The following day they did cone exercise drills. They utilized the cones to complete various moves and change of direction while trusting his leg.

Ben dribbled through the cones and turned to do the behind the back motion groaning in pain.

"Ahhh" Ben shouted.

"You okay?" Miranda questioned.

Ben threw the ball and huffed walking away.

"Hey, it's okay. A little bit of pain is to be expected. But you know what you are making your way back. You got the play offs coming up. You are doing better than you were a week ago, better than the week before that, and the week before that. So everyday is progress."

Ben nodded wiping his face.

"Your knee is about healed, now its time to go to work. Don't worry about it I'm telling you everything is fine."

"Yeah I'm good, I'm good." Ben smiled at Miranda.

She had him jumping rope, doing push ups, and a lot of game techniques.

Miranda liked jogging and working out with Ben he was keeping her active.

In the middle of week four They did a mock game with the team and Miranda stood with the coaches watching Ben play. He was making all of his shots and maneuvering up and down the court in perfect timing.

After Ben finished his leg press Miranda congratulated him.

"Great job Ben Warren. You feel good?" She asked standing over him.

"Yeah I feel good. Let me get some water." Ben stated breathing hard.

Miranda stood watching his muscles bulge. Almost getting distracted. That was one perk of the job.

"Water, I don't have no water, that's for rich people." She mocked.

Ben stood up and got himself some water.

"We done for the day?" Ben asked stretching.

"Uh incorrect. We finish with a jog." Miranda said seriously.

"It's Friday." Ben whined.

"So. The quicker we do it the quicker you can be done baby." Miranda laughed but the frowned at what she said. She hope he understood that she was calling him a baby and not her baby.

Miranda rode her bike while Ben jogged and they talked about any and everything. She found out that during the off seasons he goes and does a few surgeries as anesthesiologist so he can stay current, that's why he has so many books.

"Why don't you consider doing this full time?" Ben asked jogging beside her.

"Because I love being a surgeon. That will always be number one."

"Yeah, but you are really good at this and you could help a lot of athletes. Even if you see them as patients at your clinic. You would make a lot of money. "

"It would have to be worked out because how am I going to see a bunch of rich ball players at a free clinic?

"Maybe open another one." Ben suggested.

"I guess. I could see my self hanging around a bunch of hot sweaty guys." She cheesed thinking about it.

Ben looked and scrunched his face up. "That's not cool."

Miranda laughed continuing to ride her bike.

"Hey." James greeted walking into the in home theater.

Miranda and Ben were sitting on the couch watching star wars. She was surprised that Ben hadn't seen all of them.

"Miranda this is James my friend and teammate. James this is Dr. Miranda Bailey my physical therapist and friend.

"Hi it's nice to me you." Miranda said sweetly looking him over. She remembered him from Ben's party a year ago.

"Nice to meet you too." James smile glancing over Miranda's frame.

James sat down beside Ben.

"What are you doing here?" Ben questioned.

"Just checking on you it's been awhile."

"I'm doing good and coming along."

"Okay I am going to let you two guys talk. I am going to go make dinner. " Miranda announced standing up fixing her dress.

James eyes widened and he licked his lips staring at her backside. Ben honestly didn't blame him, but to just stared and gawk was unacceptable.

Ben reached over and hit him mouthing cut it out.

"Are you staying for dinner James I can make enough." She said bending over grabbing her shoes.

"Damn." He mumbled looking once again.

"Um I..." James started.

"No he is not." Ben said firmly.

Miranda looked back at the two of them suspiciously.

"No. I'm not staying for too long. Thank you though beautiful."

Miranda blushed and replied. "Okay well see you next time."

"Hopefully." He flirted.

"What is wrong with you?" Ben gritted out when Miranda was gone.

"Bro. How are you able to work with her. I wouldn't be able to get anything done."

"Because it's called self control. Which you lack."

"Is she single?" He asked.

"Miranda?" Ben questioned shocked. He didn't want his friend to date her. Quite frankly he would be satisfied if she didn't date anyone.

"Who else?" He asked in a duh tone.

"Uh yeah she is seeing someone." Ben lied.

"Aww damn. Who is he?" James questioned.

"I'm assuming the father of her son." Ben stated.

"Damn that's unfortunate." He sighed loudly and Ben nodded.
