Harry Potter characters do not belong to me. Trigger warning for violence, gore, and torture.

"Silence is the sound the knife makes

slitting the skin.

Can you identify my weakness,

a pricking sensation

and numbness in one limb?

Can you hold this tongue?

Tell me, what is the function

of meticulous courage."

ON THE LOOSE

The former mudblood known as Hermione Granger has been on the loose along with half-blood Harry Potter and blood traitor Ronald Weasley.

If anyone has any information about their whereabouts or any data that will lead to their imprisonment a reward will be given.

For more information contact the Ministry of Magic or associates.

Hermione has been studying the routines of the death eaters that come down to the cellar, even through the stone, barely sounds can be heard and she takes mental note of them. Her big brain is being put to use. She knows the spell. It keeps repeating in her dreams. She knows she has to make a sacrifice for it. And she will.

Hermione has always been called brilliant. Since she was a little girl the praises from adults have always come her way. In school, Hermione learned the alphabet in a day. She, then, learned the colors and the months in a week. She was a prodigy, they said. But she didn't have any friends.

She used to be able to solve any mathematical problem, or chemistry homework. Then at Hogwarts she still didn't have any friends but she could get every answer straight. She used to be able to put together the lengthy scrolls of Potions and the complexity of Arithmancy. She could do it all. She was the Brightest Witch of her age.

So she would do this and everything would be over. Killing or not, revenge or sweet forgiveness.

Violent delights or violent ends.

When you run like a dove

And hunters are on the loose

When blood is smeared on your hands

And it won't wash away

When fire and water won't fight anymore

And the sky is full of ashes

When rage fuels your magic

And madness has overcome your mind

Murder is the key

By your hand shall it be

A sacrifice

A price must be pay

Blood for blood

And the animal shall be let free

When war is shooting on your backyard

And death is the smell of the day

You must decide

If you stand to look or if you act

Blood for blood

A price must be pay

At first, Hermione didn't understand Luna Lovegood. She was weird and strange, but mostly she claimed to know of creatures Hermione had never read in her books. Hermione had been taught to believe only what she could see and prove, but Luna went against all of those conventions. Luna was taught to think freely, to believe in what wasn't there, and to go for the unknown. Luna was the opposite of Hermione. She was light and effortless. Hermione was tough and kept pushing herself. Harry had been right to see Luna for what she was worth since the beginning.

Hermione, at first, had not understood how or why Luna was in Ravenclaw considering she was a bit loony, but then years passed and the war came and Hermione began to understand. Luna Lovegood was a wildflower. Ravenclaw chose wisely when Luna became a part of them. Ravenclaw was a home to Luna. Ravenclaw did not seek only knowledge of scientific validation, the knowledge that comes from the soul is the most raw and magical.

Knowledge is not supposed to be bound to books, or authors. Knowledge is bound to nature, earth, and the stars. Magic chooses the souls that are most precious to the universe and its infinite. Knowledge of that kind is what Luna Lovegood had. And when Hermione saw the wildflower that Luna was, she couldn't take her eyes from her.

Luna's mind was tangled in riddles. Luna was a shooting star. She could sense auras and see what the normal eye ignores. She was a portal to the fantasy of magic. Luna was the elegance of the weird. When she fought, she would waltz. Her spells were meant to be beautiful, no harm but attack. She reminded Hermione of Alice in Wonderland. She reminded her of that fantastic tea party and colors and patterns, and potions. Luna was the magic you saw once in your lifetime.

Hermione had not understood Luna Lovegood, but when she did she was amazed. Hermione, when the war came, understood why Luna was placed in Ravenclaw. In the meetings, Luna would be the most strategic. She knew to put herself in the ruthless enemy's position. She would often talk in phrases that had to be uncovered, but she was smarter than any of them. Luna had warned them since the beginning of the war that they could not be kind even if it hurt their moral standards. They needed to be as strong and mortal as their counterparts. Luna had told them that even when the knights are meant to be good in romance stories, knights had to go towards a dark path in order to find a light. That light and dark magic were the same if you joined them in the middle. Everyone had been outraged, even Hermione. She could not phantom to cast dark magic when her soul was so innocent, but as the war progressed Hermione knew their shining knights armor would be stained.

This is the day of the dawn. This is the day of the blood.

Author's Note: What do you think of the chapter? Was it too boring? Any other characters you would like me to write about?
