A/N: Hey everyone! Just another quick side note to say that I made an edit to the end of Chapter 4. I realized that I never explained that Mel does not have an accent like Newt, and I put in a small explanation for it so that way in future chapters there is no confusion. Enjoy!

Gally was in full panic mode. He didn't care how he looked to others as he moved quickly around them, shouting out for Mel. All he cared about was her and where she was. Did someone grab her while they were heading back? Did she get distracted and lost? He had just talked with her moments before, how had he not noticed her suddenly vanishing?

"Melinda! Mel!" He shouted again, ignoring the new side-eyes he was being given.

He continued all the way back towards the shops they had looked through, eyes moving over everyone to find any familiar features he could recognize as hers. After ten minutes of nothing he stopped to catch his breath a moment and get his head straight so he could try to plan a better way of looking for her. No way would he ever think of leaving her behind. He gave one last look of the area, growing desperate, until finally he spotted someone in the distance up ahead. On a platform with stairs leading up and down, he saw her. She seemed to be doing her own searching it seemed as she turned slowly scanning the crowds.

Gally was on the move the moment he realized it was actually her, moving as fast as he could. He climbed the stairs two at a time before finally reaching her and gave her a look of What the Hell?!. As he watched her he noticed how she didn't even seem fazed that he was now beside her. If she wasn't looking for him, then who or what was she looking for?

"Do you know what you just did to me? I thought you got grabbed by someone. Are you even listening to me?! What are you doing?" He lectured her hoping to get any response out of her. But she continued to look anywhere but him, the look in her eyes finally giving him his answer.

She didn't mean to run off and worry Gally, but she needed to know. Needed to try. Try and find any hints that could tell her he was here and safe. That she could somehow find him and everything would be ok again.

"Mel..He's not going to be here." He said quietly as he began to calm down, not wanting to upset her. But he knew they couldn't stay here much longer without raising any possible suspicions about them.

"But what if he is!" Mel shouted at him, glossy eyes finally meeting his. "What if he is here. And I miss my chance."

She did her best to keep her voice from breaking but it was a hard task. She felt so close. That at any moment she would see him turn a corner or walk right into her. Gally hated seeing that look on her face. It was the first time he'd seen it, but he knew right away it was a look he never wanted to see again. He put a hand on her shoulder as he tried to reason with her.

"Mel, Newt hates WCKD. They all do just like we do. They wouldn't be here unless it was for a good cause, but the crew hasn't picked up any surrounding movement in awhile. I promise, anything we hear about him or the others, I will be right there with you to check it out." He had wished they were anywhere else, but he knew she needed this, and for the first time he brought her into him and held her in a tight hug. Her arms reaching up a moment later and wrapping around him in response causing Gally to close his eyes for a few seconds, enjoying the moment given the uncertain circumstance.

The sun was slowly starting to lower in the sky. Red's and oranges slowly beginning to tint the sky. They needed to leave. They'd been gone at most a few hours now and he didn't want Elise or anyone else starting to worry about them.

"We need to go." He said in almost a whisper-like tone. He felt her nod against his chest, and pulled away to give a reassuring smile at her, grabbed her hand so he wouldn't lose her again, and together they went down the steps and hurried back to their exit. Mel knew he was right, they had been here much longer than they wanted to be. And she hoped with all her might he was right, that Newt wasn't here, but that he would be on his way to her soon.

Gally was more confident this time in leading the way since he had been back and forth already twice now. They checked to be sure no one was looking as they ducked back into their empty street and back down into the subway.

The rest of the way back through the sewer and back up outside of the walls was silent. Mel not saying a word which felt strange since she enjoyed having words to say here and there.

Elise had stuck around and let out a smile of relief as she watched the two walk back into the room. She met them halfway with hopeful eyes. Gally pulled out the few bottles from his pocket and handed them to her with an apologetic look.

"Sorry, this was all we could get that Mel was able to sneak out. Something about needing an ID to purchase stuff?" He handed them over to her as she gave a frustrated huff and shook her head.

"Of course, I completely forgot about that. I am so sorry. Most of my days were in a lab or office so I was hardly ever out and doing things like that. I'd offer mine but surely it would get flagged in the system." She took the bottles and set them down at her desk before grabbing the other materials she had and began to get to work.

Mel moved to sit near her and watched her work, trying to understand the process she was using. Liquids being poured and mixed into one another. Finally she grabbed a small syringe and looked up at Gally who was still by the doorway. She motioned him over.

"Gally may I have you over here please? Pull your sleeve up as well." As he came over and sat down, doing as she said he gave a questioning look not liking that he was being used as a lab rat. She rubbed a small wipe over his arm before pressing the needle in and taking some of his blood. Gally made a face as he felt the pinch, glad that it was over quickly.

Elise then went back to her work and mixed some of the blood in adding one last ingredient, before pouring the now blue looking fluid into an IV bag. She made sure it was sealed tightly and ready to go. Seeing the concerned look on Gally's face and the intrigued one on Mel's she decided it was best to give some sort of explanation.

"This is what we worked on in the labs. We found that the combination of an Immune's blood helped fight against the virus due to the type of enzymes and antibodies they carried. If only it was enough to be a cure as well. But I used your blood since you were in the Maze and had gone through the trials. Some form of immunity is inside of you. Just this bag alone will give Lawrence at least a month and a half." She gave a nod and a grin before gently placing the IV bag in her own bag.

"I'll go ahead and take it over to him now. You guys did great thank you so much. Should go get some food soon before its gone." And with that she was out the door leaving the two alone.

Mel stood up the same time Gally did, pulling his sleeve back down and rubbing the spot Elise had poked him. He looked over and waited. When she stayed still, avoiding his gaze he decided to speak first.

"Well that's more science than I'll ever know. Ready to go grab a bite? Pretty sure I saw some good looking canned stuff on our way over here, can see if it's still there." He said gesturing toward the door. She was still acting quiet which was starting to worry him now. The look he had given her back in the City flashing through his mind.

She finally drew her gaze up to him and gave an apologetic smile, "I'm uh, actually not that hungry. Think I'm just gonna head to my room, but you go ahead. See you later?"

Without waiting for an answer she moved past him and walked out, heading straight for her room like she said. Leaving a guilty Gally alone. He knew he hadn't been the one to personally upset her, and that she had hoped part of their mission would be to find her brother since they had the chance. But it still got to him that she was feeling this way.

He decided it would be best to give her some space for awhile and after walking out himself, went to go get food. He sat at their usual spot, recounting the day they had and how he felt about it all. He then started to wonder just where the rest of them were, and if they were okay. Not that he'd admit it to anyone, but he missed Frypan the most. His best friend since the day they met in the maze. They were always side by side when not working and keeping the Glade going, keeping each other hopeful that someday the runners would find a way out of the maze.

Then his thoughts began to drift to Thomas, the one who screwed it all up. Or would he be the one who figured it all out? Part of him was still angry, but after being here for months now and being able to truly reflect, he realized he could have given the guy a bit more trust. Clearing away the past he took his plate back to get washed before heading towards the rooms.

He was going to go straight to his and sleep because after the day they had he knew he'd sleep good tonight. But part of him wanted to check on Melinda and make sure that she was alright. Taking a turn he found the familiar door and lightly knocked, waiting for the soft 'come in' before entering. He saw her sitting on her bed, back against the wall with her knees brought up toward her chest. The familiar family photo laying to the side of her. After a moment of silence and the two just staring at each other she finally spoke up.

"I'm sorry for taking off and making you worry. I didn't mean to. Part of me just felt like I could try and that I would get lucky." She explained.

"It's ok. I understand." He said crossing his arms as he leaned in the doorway. "If it were me I probably would've done the same."

"Do you miss them?" She asked simply, glancing down to the picture.

Gally pondered the question for a moment, thinking back to Fry again, "Well, they were the only people I knew for the last three years. Me, Frypan, even Minho. We all got close to each other in different ways and looked out for one another. We were like a big dysfunctional family."

Mel smiled as her eyes met his again. Taking a leap of faith she climbed out of bed, walked towards him and then wrapped her arms around him embracing him in a hug. He had a bit of an awe moment as it happened so fast but was quick to reciprocate the gesture and firmly held her in his arms. He placed his cheek on the top of her head and they stayed just like that for a few minutes.

"Thank you for being speared and brought here." She muttered against him, he gave a frown as he thought of her words for a moment before finally understanding it's meaning of 'thank you for not letting me be alone anymore'.

He laughed only responding with, "Your welcome."
