"I don't know you," her voice quivered with fear, "I want to go home." Her voice cracked as sobs slowly started to cascade down her face. "Let me go," she said through a pained voice. Adrien was unsure of what to do. How was he supposed to fix this? How does he explain this to her?

Adrien took in a deep breath, "I will take you home." His voice was shaky, and his whole soul felt crushed. He looked at the shallow form of Marinette. His heart pained at the image of her cowering over his presence. She was petrified of him, the person who she used to be enamored over. His face no longer brought of blush, instead, it brought a painful expression. He reached out his hand to her, and she cautiously took it.

It hurt to leave their apartment, because he didn't know when she would return - or if she ever would. He held her hand tight enough so that she couldn't run away, but he still wished to keep her from being frightened. She cautiously followed him down the stairwell until they reached the door.

Suddenly, Marinette bolted out of his grasp and ran towards the door. Adrien ran towards her but stopped. He realized that it was pointless, at least for now. The Marinette he knew was gone. The Marinette that dashed out the doors was terrified of him and just wanted to go home, so that is exactly what he let her do.

Adrien made his way back up to their apartment, picked up Marinette's Diary, and jumped off of their balcony, transforming into Chat Noir. Marinette was right, the apartment with the balcony was worth the extra $100 a month. He made his way onto the rooftops of the buildings and scoured the crowds until he spotted her. He knew where she was headed, home, so he detransformed on the roof and dialed his soon-to-be in-laws.

"Adrien, how are you?" Sabine asked sweetly.

He took a deep breath, he dreaded that he had to speed up this conversation, and pile everything onto them at once. "Hi Sabine, I - I don't know how to say this," his voice wavered. "Marinette is - was Ladybug, but she had to give up the miracle box to Chat Noir and now because of that she lost her memory. She doesn't remember me and she thinks I kidnapped her. She is running towards the bakery. I am following her, so she will be fine, but I felt like you needed to know beforehand..." the other end was absolutely silent, they were in shock.

"Oh?" is the only word that Sabine could muster. Adrien knew that this was hard, and he wished that they could've had a different experience.

"I will see you soon," Adrien hung up his phone. I wish I had more time to give them to process this, but Princess is on the run. He transformed and slowly followed Marinette on the rooftops. She stopped by everyone and talked to them frantically. She is making a scene...

Chat Noir vaulted off the roof and approached her. "Why hello there Princess, you look lost," he said, "I am Chat Noir, Paris' superhero. Need a lift?" Those words pained him. On the outside, he was his usual self with Marinette, composed and flirty, but on the inside, he was trying to fight the dread filling him. She doesn't know him at all. She is gone. He wanted to just cry, but he needed to be there for her, even if she didn't appreciate it. He hoped she didn't realize that he was Adrien. He told her that he was Chat Noir in desperation, but he knew she wasn't listening.

"Uh," Marinette was cautious at first, but soon calmed. "Are you a new superhero?" So she doesn't know...

Chat Noir smiled, "I am. My job is to protect Paris and its citizens, so - you want some help?" He extended his hand out to her and she took it. "Where to Princess?" It hurt to say that. His heart felt as if it was being ripped into pieces. She looked so adorable but even a face as perfect as hers couldn't free him from his worries.

"Uh," she thought for a moment, "do you know where the Dupain-Cheng bakery is?" She asked quietly, "I - I don't know where I am."

Chat Noir nodded, "I sure do." I know a lot more than that. He picked her up and vaulted up onto the rooftops, making sure to be gentle with every step. He knew that she was still shaken up and the last thing she needed was to be jolted left and right.

The pair arrived at the bakery, with Chat gently placing her down across the street, "see you later." He waved goodbye to her as he vaulted onto a rooftop. He thudded on the concrete roof and just sobbed. He lost her way too soon. He wasn't ready yet.

After he composed himself he found an alleyway and detransformed. Adrien entered the bakery cautiously, for he didn't know how Marinette would react to seeing him. He entered to find all the lights off. They must be upstairs. Adrien flipped the open sign to closed and locked the door for Tom and Sabine. He slowly climbed up the stairs, making sure that his footsteps were unheard. He was at their front door and just froze. He didn't want to move. Instead, he just listened.

"Dear everything will be fine," he heard Sabine say. Marinette was crying, or maybe it was Sabine, or maybe Tom? Adrien didn't know. Most of the words were muffled. Every bone in Adrien's body told him to wait, but he needed to see her. He needed everything to be alright.

He carefully stood up and touched the doorknob. His heart pounded wildly, and his whole body felt heavy. He slowly turned the handle and heard a yelp from Marinette. He stopped for a moment, but continued and pushed the door open slowly. He froze when he saw her...

Her face was red with anger, tears, fear, and every other emotion swirling through her brain. She was between both her parents and being held by Sabine. She hid behind her mother, "that is him... Get out!" She cowered at the sight of him. Adrien's heart shattered more if that was even possible. He felt like he was suffocating. His soulmate hated him.

He opened his mouth but closed it. He sat down in the doorway and sat on his hands, "I'll stay right here if that makes you feel safer." Marinette came out from behind her parents. "Also," Adrien pulled out a familiar book and slid it across the floor, "this is yours."

Marinette sniffled and then reached for the familiar pink book and opened the pages. She opened it and quickly knew it was hers, she may have forgotten everything else but she knew her own writing. The group sat in silence as she read it. Her eyes slowly filled with tears as she began to understand the words, "you - you weren't lying." She looked up at him, and then at her parents. "This - this is too much..."
