Luz and Amity walked through the woods back to the Owl House and soon arrived at their destination, where Eda and Lilith were waiting for them.

"Amity, Luz", Eda said, "I'm so glad you two are okay."

"Thanks, Eda", Luz said.

"Did your plan work", Lilith said, "did this so-called secret room keep you both hidden?"

"Yes it did", Amity said, "no one suspected we were watching them."

"The only ones who know are Willow and Gus", Luz said, "I figured that as my best friends, they could be trusted with our secret."

"Well, they did speak up for us at the petrification ceremony", Eda said, "so I guess we can trust them."

"Great", Luz said.

"Now who wants a glass of lemonade", Eda asked.

"I do", Luz said.

"I'll take one too", Amity said.

"Great", Eda said.

In the kitchen, the residents of the Owl House were drinking some fresh-squeezed lemonade, when Luz noticed that King had his nose in a book.

"What are you reading, King", Luz asked.

"It's one of Lilith's history books on demons in the Boiling Isles", King said.

"Is that thing about no one knowing who you are still bothering you", Luz asked.

"Yes", King said, "I just can't make any sense of this."

"I think I know what the problem is", Lilith said.

"You do", King asked.

"Yes", Lilith said, "you're absolutely delusional."

"Delusional, me", King asked.

"Yes", Lilith said, "you act like you're some kind of ruler, but in reality, you're just a little dog-like creature who's lost in his own little world."

"But I'm not", King said, "I am the King of Demons!"

"King, the evidence is as clear as day", Lilith said, "no one in the Demonican Republic recognized your title, and history says that the Lucifers were the first unified rulers of all demon-kind."

"History isn't always correct", King said.

"Well the information Luz gathered when she and her friends were there certainly seems correct", Lilith said, "it's time to wake up from your deluded fantasies and come back to the real world, King."

King's face had a shocked expression on it, and he silently walked out of the room.

"Gee, Lilith", Luz said, "don't you think that was a little harsh?"

"All that little demon ever talks about is how he's an all-powerful mighty ruler", Lilith said, "and now, I've finally given it to him straight."

Lilith got up and went to get some more lemonade.

"Well she's certainly lost her patience", Luz thought.

Suddenly, Hooty stretched himself into the kitchen.

"We have company, hoot hoot", Hooty said.

"Company", Amity asked, "who is it?"

"Is it the Emperor's Coven", Eda asked.

"Nope", Hooty said, "it's Gwendolyn!"

Eda became very annoyed upon hearing that name, and at that moment, Gwendolyn, who was an older female witch, walked into the kitchen.

"Hello", Gwendolyn asked, "is anyone home?"

Everyone turned to look at Gwendolyn in surprise, but no one was more surprised than Lilith.

"Mother", Lilith asked.

Lilith's words had caught Luz by surprise.

"That's your mom", Luz asked.

"Unfortunately, yes", Eda said.

Gwendolyn walked over to Eda.

"Edalyn, it's so wonderful to see you again", Gwendolyn said, "it's been too long."

"Hasn't been long enough, if you ask me", Eda said.

Then, Gwendolyn walked over to Lilith.

"And Lilith", Gwendolyn said, "still dying your hair, I see?"

"Yes, Mother", Lilith said.

"How nice", Gwendolyn said.

"What are you doing here, Gwendolyn", Eda asked.

"Edalyn, I've told you, call me Mom", Gwendolyn said.

Eda just rolled her eyes.

"But anyways, I came here because I heard you've finally been cured of your curse", Gwendolyn said.

"That's right", Eda said, "after all these years, it's finally gone."

"And just look at your hair", Gwendolyn said, "it's back to its original orange color."

"Yes, I know", Eda said, "and now that I'm cured, you can stop coming here with your hair-brained ideas to cure my curse."

"Your mom tried to cure your curse", Eda said.

"Yes", Eda said, "every year she comes here to try a cure for my curse that she learned about, and every time she did, it didn't work."

"She visits you regularly", Lilith asked.

"Oh come now, Edalyn", Gwendolyn said, "I'm sure one of them would've worked eventually."

"Please, I'll bet the guy you got them from was a fraud", Eda said.

"Well, it doesn't matter", Gwendolyn said, "at least you're cured now."

"Yep", Eda said, "and now it's time for you to leave."

Eda began to push Gwendolyn out of the kitchen, but the latter stopped her by grabbing onto the doorway with her hands.

"Not so fast", Gwendolyn said, "I didn't just come here to check on you."

"Oh", Eda asked, "then what did you come here for?"

Gwendolyn walked over to Amity.

"I came here to meet my granddaughter", Gwendolyn said.

"Me", Amity asked.

"Yes, you", Gwendolyn said.

"How'd you find out that Amity's Eda's daughter", Luz asked.

"You'd be surprised how quickly news travels to the part of the Isles I live in", Gwendolyn said.

"Well, it's very nice to meet you, ma'am", Amity said.

"Enough with the ma'am stuff", Gwendolyn said, "just call me your Nana Gwen."

"Okay then, Nana Gwen", Amity said.

"Would you like some lemonade, Gwendolyn", Luz asked.

"Yes please", Gwendolyn said.

Luz poured Gwendolyn a glass of lemonade, and Lilith looked on with an envious look on her face.

"It's bad enough Mother liked Edalyn best when we were kids, now her attention's all on Amity", Lilith thought, "sometimes it's as if I don't even exist to her."

As Gwendolyn sipped down on some lemonade, Eda told her everything about her marriage that ended in disaster, her giving birth to Amity and putting her up for adoption, and the adventure that led to her and the others learning that she was her daughter.

"So do you have any idea what happened to your husband", Gwendolyn asked.

"Nope", Eda said, "but to be honest, I'm hoping he's dead."

"I see", Gwendolyn said.

"It's so nice to meet you, Nana Gwen", Amity said.

"You too, Amity", Gwendolyn said, "I wish Edalyn had at least told me about you when you were born."

"She didn't tell me because of my position in the Emperor's Coven", Lilith said, "I can't imagine why she wouldn't tell you."

"I didn't think to", Eda said.

"Well, what matters is I know about her now", Gwendolyn said, "and I can't wait for us to bond even more."

"You want to bond more with me", Amity asked.

"Why, yes", Gwendolyn said, "you and I will be living together, after all."

"Oh no", Eda said, "don't tell me you're moving in with us."

"Of course not, Edalyn", Gwendolyn said, "although, there is something I feel like you should know."

"What is it", Eda asked.

"Well", Gwendolyn said, "I understand that you must be happy to be re-united with your daughter after so long, but I'm a little worried for her."

"What are you worried for", Eda asked.

"I've heard all about Emperor Belos' grudge against you all, and also how she's been branded a traitor for helping your human friend escape his clutches", Gwendolyn said, "I don't think it's very safe for her here."

"You must've hit your head on a tree branch flying here", Eda said, "she's perfectly safe at the Owl House with us."

"Regardless, I think maybe it would be best if I take Amity home with me and assume the role of her guardian", Gwendolyn said.

Eda didn't like what her mother was suggesting at all.

"Now you listen here, Gwendolyn", Eda said, "Amity is my daughter, and if you think you can just walk in here and take her home with you, then you can just ride away on that staff of yours and never come here again."

"Edalyn, try to understand that I'm only trying to do what's best for the girl", Gwendolyn said.

"What makes you think you know what's best for my daughter", Eda asked, "besides, she's perfectly fine here, isn't that right, Amity?"

Amity wasn't quite sure how to respond.

"I-I guess so", Amity said.

"Well, I can tell that it'll probably be hard for you two to say goodbye", Gwendolyn said, "feel free to spend as much time together as you can before I come back tonight for Amity."

Gwendolyn walked out the door and flew away on her staff.

"Good riddance", Eda said.

"But isn't the coming back tonight", Luz asked.

"She is", Eda said, "but I'm not letting her take my daughter away from me that easily."

Eda left the kitchen, and Luz noticed that Lilith had a sad expression on her face.

"What's wrong with you, Lilith", Luz asked.

"Mother only spoke to me once when she was here", Lilith said, "the rest of the time it was about Edalyn or Amity."

"Is there something wrong with that", Luz asked.

"If by that you mean it was like I was invisible to my own mother, then yes, there is something wrong with that", Lilith said.

Lilith got up and walked away.

"Wow", Luz said, "somebody has mommy issues."

A little later, Amity was sitting on the steps of the Owl House thinking about how Gwendolyn intended to take her home with her, and Hooty stretched himself over to her.

"Hey, Amity", Hooty said, "what'cha doin'?"

"Leave me alone, Hooty", Amity said, "I'm thinking."

"Thinking", Hooty asked, "I love to think!"

"Of course he does", Amity muttered.

"I think about all kinds of stuff", Hooty said, "what I've eaten, what I see every day, what I hear you guys say, what I..."

Amity stopped Hooty by putting her foot on him.

"Okay, okay, I'll stop talking now", Hooty said.

Amity lifted her foot back up and Hooty began breathing heavily.

"I'm sorry, Hooty", Amity said, "I'm just feeling a little conflicted by now."

"About what", Hooty asked, "you can always tell me."

"I don't know", Amity said.

"I'll listen", Hooty said, "just tell me what's bothering you."

"Well, alright", Amity said, "I guess it wouldn't hurt to try and tell you."

Amity then told Hooty about what happened with Gwendolyn and how she wanted to take her home with her.

"Gwendolyn wants you to live with her", Hooty asked.

"Yes", Amity said, "she thinks it's not safe for me here."

"That's ridiculous", Hooty said, "sure, you've gone on a few life-risking adventures here and there, but it's plenty safe here."

"That's what Mom said, but Nana Gwen insists that I come live with her", Amity said.

"What did Eda think of that", Hooty asked.

"She didn't like it at all", Amity said.

"So what are you going to do", Hooty asked, "are you going to go with Eda's mom or stay here with us?"

"I'm not sure", Amity said, "I think I need to think this over a little bit."

Amity got up and went inside, and she saw Lilith sitting on the couch with Luz sitting in a chair next to her with a notebook, similar to a therapist.

"And when I was formally inducted into the Emperor's Coven, mother didn't even show up at my initiation", Lilith said.

"Uh-huh", Luz said, "and how does that make you feel?"

"How do you think that makes me feel", Lilith asked.

Amity just walked upstairs to hers and Luz's room and lied down on her sleeping bag to think more about the issue at hand.

"What am I supposed to do", Amity asked, "part of me wants to stay here with my mom, but the other part of me thinks maybe I should consider going with Nana Gwen."

Amity looked up at the ceiling and sighed.

"I just don't know", Amity said.

A little later, Eda knocked on the door.

"Amity", Eda asked, "you in there?"

"Yes", Amity said.

Eda opened the door and peeked inside.

"Hey, kiddo", Eda said, "what's up?"

"Nothing, Mom", Amity said, "just enjoying some peace and quiet."

"I'm surprised you're not worried about Gwendolyn", Eda said.

"Why are you so against Nana Gwen raising me, anyway", Amity asked.

"Because you're my daughter", Eda said, "that old bag doesn't have any business taking you home to live with her."

"I'm sure she means well, Mom", Amity said, "maybe if you..."

"What are you defending Gwendolyn for", Eda asked, "do you want to go with her?"

"No", Amity said, "I'm just saying that..."

"I can't believe it", Eda said, "this is the thanks I get for taking you in and trying to make up for not raising you."

"That's not it at all", Amity said, "really."

"Well, Gwendolyn will be back in a few hours", Eda said, "I guess we'll find out for sure then."

Eda walked away, and Amity lied back down.

"Great", Amity said, "as if this choice couldn't have gotten harder."

It soon began to get late, and upstairs in her bedroom, Eda was looking through a trunk full of old things, and she pulled out a picture of her with her husband, whose face had been burned off of the picture.

"To think I tried to live a normal life even though I knew I was cursed", Eda said, "I should've known the curse wouldn't have stayed secret very long."

Eda put the picture away and continued looking through her stuff.

"He said he'd love me forever, but the minute he found out about my curse, he treated me like I was a monster", Eda said, "so much for 'til death do us part."

Then, she pulled out a picture that brought her even more down than she already was.

"I guess finding this thing was inevitable", Eda said.

It was a picture of Amity as a baby shortly after she was born.

"I remember the day my little girl was born", Eda said, "she cried and cried after she was brought into the world, but when I held her in my arms, she fell asleep, and it made me feel something I'd never felt before."

Eda then hung her head down as what came later came to her mind.

"But then, I never felt that feeling again", Eda said, "as much as I wanted to keep Amity and raise her, I didn't want to put her in danger with my curse, so I decided she'd be safer in the care of another family."

Eda put the picture back into the trunk and went over to her nest.

"And later, it turned out that putting her up for adoption wasn't such a good idea after all because the ones who adopted her were the second worst witches on the Boiling Isles after Belos", Eda said.

Tears began to form in Eda's eyes as she thought more and more about her daughter.

"After 14 years of being apart, I finally re-united with her, and I've been trying to make up for not being her mother", Eda said, "but now, Gwendolyn wants to come take her away from me and leave me without a daughter again."

As Eda began crying, Amity watched from her door and walked away, bumping into Luz as she walked down the hall.

"Hey, Amity", Luz said, "are you alright?"

"Yeah", Amity said, "I'm fine."

Then, Luz heard Eda crying.

"Sounds like Eda's sad about something", Luz said.

"Yeah, Mom's pretty upset", Amity said, "it's about that thing with Nana Gwen."

"You mean how she wants you to live with her", Luz asked.

"Yeah, that", Amity said.

"I can imagine how she must feel about this", Luz said, "she's been re-united with you after so long only for her mother to come in and announce her intention to take her home and raise you herself."

"No kidding", Amity said, "I overheard her talking about how sad she is about this."

"What did you hear her say", Luz asked.

Amity told Luz what she heard Eda say about how heartbroken she was when she gave her up as a baby and how despaired she was over Gwendolyn wanting her to live with her.

"Wow", Luz said, "poor Eda."

"I know", Amity said, "this must really be hurting Mom."

"Well, you're not going to go, right", Luz asked.

"What", Amity asked.

"You're going to stay here with Eda, aren't you", Luz asked, "it's obvious that she's beside herself about this."

"I know", Amity said, "but it's just so hard to decide."

"No it's not", Luz said, "Eda loves you, Amity, with all her heart."

Amity began to think about what Luz was telling her.

"My mom might've tried to send me to a reality check camp back in the human realm, but I know loves me, and she was only trying to do what was she felt was best for me", Luz said, "I know I may seem like a hypocrite because I left her behind to come here, but I plan on going back to her once we figure out a way to get to the human realm."

"I guess you do have a point", Amity said.

"I know I do", Luz said, "trust me Amity, this is your home."

Then, the two girls heard someone knock on the door.

"That must be Gwen", Luz said.

Amity went downstairs and answered the door, and sure enough, Gwendolyn was standing there.

"Hello, Amity", Gwendolyn said, "are you ready to go?"

"Actually, no, I'm not ready", Amity said, "there's something I have to tell you."

Upstairs, Eda was still upset over the possibility of losing Amity to Gwendolyn.

"Gwendolyn's downstairs right now to take Amity home", Eda said, "and I doubt I can change her mind now."

Eda looked at herself in the mirror.

"I guess this is it", Eda said, "it's time to give my daughter away again after I just got her back."

Then, she noticed a picture of her with Amity that had been taken a while back, and after looking at it for a moment, she came to a decision.

"Actually", Eda said, "this isn't it."

Eda turned away from the mirror.

"I got my daughter back after 14 years, and I'm not just going to let that hag of a mother of mine take her away from me", Eda said, "I'm going to go downstairs, look Gwendolyn in the eye, and tell her she's not taking Amity anywhere."

Downstairs, Amity had finished telling Gwendolyn something.

"I understand, Amity", Gwendolyn said, "thank you for sharing this with me."

Eda then walked down the stairs and over to Gwendolyn.

"Edalyn", Gwendolyn said, "I..."

"No, Gwendolyn, I have something to say", Eda said.

"Very well", Gwendolyn said, "what is it?"

"I want you to listen carefully to what I have to say", Eda said, "Amity is my daughter, and I love her very much."

"I know", Gwendolyn said, "and..."

"I'm not done", Eda said, "I know putting her up for adoption wasn't the best choice, but I only did it because I wanted her to be safe."

"I understand", Gwendolyn said, "but if you would..."

"Still not done yet", Eda said, "I may not have been there to raise her for most of her life, but I'm here for her now, and I'm trying to make up for it by being the best mother I can be."

"And you can still do it", Gwendolyn said.

"Furthermore", Eda said, "I..."

Eda stopped when she realized what Gwendolyn had said.

"Come again", Eda asked.

"Amity told me how devastated you were over me taking her home to raise her", Gwendolyn said, "I didn't think it would affect you that much."

"She told you that", Eda asked.

"Yes", Gwendolyn said.

Amity then spoke up.

"I overheard you in your room earlier", Amity said, "you sounded really upset over the possibility of losing me."

"I was", Eda said.

Then, she knelt down to her daughter.

"Amity, you're my daughter", Eda said, "it broke my heart having to give you up all those years ago, and now that I've got you back, I feel like a part of me that's been missing for so long is finally back."

"And I would've given anything for someone like you", Amity said, "I was miserable living with Odalia and Alador, but now that I have a mother who truly loves and cares about me, I can put my life as a Blight behind and live the life I've always wanted to live."

"I love you, Amity", Eda said, "I really do."

"I love you too, Mom", Amity said.

The mother and daughter hugged each other, and Gwendolyn watched the happy scene take place.

"What was I thinking", Gwendolyn asked, "I should've known better than to separate a mother and daughter who love each other very much."

"So Amity can stay", Eda asked.

"Of course", Gwendolyn said, "also, I have to admit that what I said about it not being safe for her was just an excuse."

"An excuse", Eda asked.

"Yes", Gwendolyn said, "the truth is I've actually gotten lonely back home."

"What about Dad", Eda asked.

"You father's very sick", Gwendolyn said, "he's been lying in bed for over a month."

"I see", Eda said.

"When I heard that Amity was your daughter, I thought maybe I could take her home with me so we could bond like a grandmother and granddaughter", Gwendolyn said, "but now I see that by doing that, I would've made a terrible mistake."

"If you wanted to spend time with me, you could've just said that", Amity said, "I'm happy to bond with my grandmother."

"Thank you, dear", Gwendolyn said, "I just wish there was a way to solve my loneliness problem."

Then, Eda remembered Lilith and how she was upset over Gwendolyn not giving her any attention.

"I might have a solution", Eda said.

A little later, Gwendolyn was ready to leave.

"Are you ready to go, Lilith", Gwendolyn asked.

Lilith walked over to her mother with her staff.

"Yes Mother, I'm ready", Lilith said.

Luz walked over to Eda and Amity.

"Where's Lilith going", Luz asked.

"She's going home with Nana Gwen", Amity said.

"That's right", Gwendolyn said, "I feel awful for not giving Lilith the attention she deserved, so she's going to stay with me for a while so we can catch up."

"Yes", Lilith said, "and also to check up on Dad, too."

Hooty wasn't happy to hear that.

"You're leaving me", Hooty asked.

"Yes, Hootcifer, I am", Lilith said, "but don't worry, we can be pen pals."

"But I can't hold a pen", Hooty said.

"Come on, dear", Gwendolyn said, "we should be going now."

"Coming, Mother", Lilith said.

"Goodbye, everyone", Gwendolyn said.

"Bye", Luz said.

"Goodbye, Nana Gwen", Amity said.

"Bye, Mom", Eda said.

Gwendolyn smiled upon hearing Eda call her mom for the first time in years, and she and Lilith both flew away on their staffs while Luz, Eda, and Amity waved goodbye and Hooty cried over Lilith's departure.

"I sure am going to miss Aunt Lilith around here", Amity said.

"Me too, kid", Eda said, "but right now, I'm just glad to still have you here with me."

Eda and Amity shared a hug, and Luz looked at a picture of her mother, Camila, that she had on her phone.

"Don't worry, Mom", Luz said, "I will find a way home."

"Well, I don't know about you guys, but I'm worn out", Eda said, "let's get inside and turn in for the night."

And with that, the trio went back into the Owl House so they could get some sleep.
