Perseus sat in the infirmary overlooking the two Greeks as they started to wake up. Luke started to wake first.
"Welcome back to the living, son of Hermes." He says evenly.
"What happened?" Luke groaned, sitting up.
"Well, you got angry and challenged me to a one vs two fight where I proceeded to both easily dispatch you, and have a bit of a challenging fight with the daughter of Zeus. Hopefully it humbled you. I've been training non-stop since I was five years old. That's why I say what I do and as proven, I can back it up." Perseus responds bluntly.
"Oh." Is all that Luke had to say to that.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to have a chat with Thalia. You're a decent swordsman Luke. You just have to stop letting your emotions get the better of you." Perseus says as he stands up to walk over to Thalia's bed.
"Perseus," Luke calls, "I'm sorry. I know I let my anger get the best of me and I shouldn't have. I'm just... Mad at my father, at myself. I want to protect my friends but I can't do that if I can't fight well enough. I just feel useless, man." Luke sighs and lays back on the bed.
Perseus smirks, "Well lucky for the three of you, you can stay as long as you need and if you want, you can train alongside me. I have to warn you though: Sigrún is a slave driver." He claps Luke on the shoulder and steps over to Thalia's bed.
Thalia wakes up with a groan and rubs her eyes. "Gods, I feel like I was used as a lightning rod which shouldn't be possible."
"It is if you're fighting against me." Perseus pipes up.
"What? Percy? What's that supposed to mean?" Thalia asked confused. Then she remembers yesterday's event and it dawns on her. Both Perseus and Luke notice.
"Yeah... He kicked our asses thoroughly, and with apparent ease." Luke grumbles to Thalia.
"Guilty as charged, and hopefully it humbled you both. I want you both to remember that there is always a bigger fish, someone stronger than you, and to never underestimate your opponent. I also want you to teach the little one, Annabeth, this lesson." Perseus explains calmly looking them both in the eyes.
They both nod, taking it to heart. Thalia knows when to listen to great advice when she hears it, but Luke on the other hand... Well, let's just say that he will eventually forget that lesson.
The door to the infirmary opens, and in runs a certain blonde haired, gray-eyed, seven year old little girl called Annabeth. Sally and Sigrún walk in after her.
"She got worried and wanted to see Luke and Thalia." Sally explains to the four older kids.
"Thalia! Luke! Are you ok? What happened? Did you hurt them?" She directs the last question at Perseus.
"Whoa, calm down Annie. We're fine, we just had a friendly spar with Perseus. We just took a nap to recover our energy." Thalia explains to calm the worried and raging seven year old.
"Oh, ok Thals." Annabeth says, instantly calmed down. She climbs up on Thalia's bed and lays next to her.
"Oh, before I forget, I came to tell you all that dinner is ready." Sally mentions.
"Ok mom, we'll be there in a few minutes." Perseus replies. Sally smiles and nods. She walks out to go set the table.
"Well, I have to say I'm impressed by you two Greeks. You handle yourselves well in combat. And you should be proud of yourself daughter of Zeus, very few can get Perseus to really get truly serious in a fight." Sigrún says bluntly.
Thalia and Luke's jaws drop. "So, he just toyed with me?" Luke says in shock.
"Not necessarily. He takes all of his fights seriously, but he was just gauging your skill level. So he was holding back, but he did fight seriously. That's because he will eventually have to fight many of Asgard's greatest and most powerful enemies. And you have to remember that we are a warrior race. We spend most of our time fighting. He also has the potential to become more powerful than his father, and replace him should Thor fall." Sigrún explains.
Understanding and awe crosses their faces and Perseus is as red as a tomato from embarrassment.
"I'm just gonna go..." Perseus mumbles and tries to make a beeline for the door.
"Oh no you don't! You're going to accept the compliments and stop being so modest." Sigrún says sternly as she grabs his wrist.
Perseus sighs, "Thank you Sigrún. Can we go eat now?" He grumbles. Sigrún nods and releases him while smiling sweetly.
"See? That wasn't so hard now was it?" She asks in a sugary sweet tone that is unlike her.
Perseus rolls his eyes. "Come on, you three. Let's get to the dining room before my mom starts freaking out." He says urging the Greek trio to follow him.
They all sit around the table while Sally places the food on the table. They start passing a bowl of rolls around and they interact like a family. That's a very big deal to the Greek trio because they have never had the best of luck with family. They are their own little family in a way.
"So, how was your day?" Sally asks starting conversation.
Luke and Thalia exchange looks and grumble. "We got knocked down a few pegs on the ego ladder and were humbled by your son, Perseus." Luke responds sheepishly.
"Perseus! What did I say about treating our guests?" She asks in the tone only a mother could use.
"Not to hurt their feelings or hurt them physically." Perseus mumbles.
"That's right. And what did you do?" Sally asks sternly.
"I hurt them physically." Perseus mumbles once more.
"Apologise to them, Perseus." Sally tells him. Before he can open his mouth, Thalia hurries to speak up despite how funny that all was.
"Ms. Jackson, it's fine really. He taught us a very valuable lesson, and in fact it was Luke and I who asked for the spar because we underestimated him. We now know to never underestimate an opponent ever again." She explains. Perseus visibly relaxes.
"Oh! Why didn't you just say so? Please, call me Sally dear. I'm sorry Perseus." Sally says a little sheepishly.
"It's fine Mom. It was just a misunderstanding on both ends." Perseus says. After that they continue to eat in silence.
After the meal, the entire group gathers in the living room. Ironically they're watching Disney's Hercules movie and they have fun pointing out all the things that the movie got wrong. Sigrún is the first to retire, going to set up tomorrow's training schedule.
After the movie ends, Sally places blankets over the sleeping Greek trio and Perseus. They had fallen asleep from exhaustion from the day's events.
Dream
The grand halls of the Asgardian palace lay in ruin as a massive battle wages within. Slowly but surely, the forces of Asgard and Valhalla are being pushed back. Suddenly the skies darken with thunderclouds and with a mighty boom of thunder and a flash of lightning, Perseus's father Thor himself drops from the sky in his royal armor, wielding an axe instead of Mijolnír with lightning arching from his body and flowing all over him.
"Asgardians! Rally to me!" Thor's voice booms across the battlefield. A massive bolt of lightning drops from the sky, frying many of the opposing side. The Asgardian forces rally at Thor's call with newfound strength and starts driving back the enemy. Thor is still able to turn the tide of battle with just his presence.
"We must defend the Allfather! Keep the enemy busy so that my son may train and grow to come change the outcome of this war with his allies!" Thor's voice booms once more as he hacks and slashes through the enemy with his axe. Then, the image freezes and all sound cuts out. Suddenly there is a grizzled old man with majestic golden armor, an eye patch, and a spear in hand standing in Perseus's view.
"Now you understand your importance to your home, grandson. When you are of age, you must return to Asgard and fulfill your destiny. But before you return, you must lead armies in Midgard to earn experience. You will side with Greeks and Romans. You will fight in two wars, and they will be your final challenge. Bring peace between Greeks and Romans, Perseus. The fate of the world is at stake. Now, wake!" Odin states grimly.
Dream end
Perseus shoots up breathing heavily and his shirt is sticking to him from sweat. He looks around wildly to calm himself down.
"By the Norns!"
Elsewhere
In the area outside of the space-time continueum, there is a massive room where the Norns and the Moirai have gathered and both sets of triplets are weaving the same thread. It is electric blue and it intertwines with many other threads.
As they weave, a prophecy is revealed to them:
The Son of Thunder begins his quest
Many a beast he must best
To find the might of Thor that was lost
The shards of the Hammer lie in the lands of fire and frost
Many allies he must make
For in the final battle against the snake, they partake
But he must beware
For danger awaits him everywhere…
