The Kraken
The Lotus Warriors including Mai and Choi, and the huntsmen, are on a decorative ship used with cannons and weaponry is steered by Scarlet. It was amazing that the Ren Clan also have the best engineers to built the defense. Ren uses his semblance, Tranqulity, to cloak the shop and the entire group to avoid detection from the Grimm. With Jaune's help to extend his aura with Aura Amp.
Jupiter and Winter have turned away from one another. Still angry with each other. But Ruby knows that both are to blame for putting their younger siblings at risk. Ruby then steps into the plate to convince them to out their differences aside first. "If you two hadn't fight over who was in the wrong here, then maybe Neptune would still be safe and Weiss wouldn't be shot in the first place."
"I am not the one who shot my sister. Obviously, if Jupiter have turned himself in, this wouldn't have happened." She turned to the elder Vasilias son out of spite. "If you were one of my men, I would have you shot." Scorned Winter.
"If I was one of your men, I'd be more than happy to wreck your guns. You just took the words out of Ironwood's mouth. The last time my team and I turned ourselves in, we tried this to convince him to help us against Lionheart. But instead, we were locked up, beaten, and tortured. We had no one to turned to. All because he didn't bothered to warn everyone about Salem! Cause then the people in Remnant would've died!" The words from Jupiter shocked everyone. Ruby recognized that name. And it seems the huntsmen before her have encountered Salem. Winter stood silent, she too knows about Salem, the queen of Grimm.
"So you knew...Why didn't you say about this in the first place?" Winter asked. Jupiter lowered his head defectively. He turned away and crossed his arms. "Why would we? Ironwood had his chance to help me...help my team. That is why we hate the Atlas Military. Cause they always kept secrets. Lionheart got us good when he had place a murder for hire over us. We thought he was a good man, but we were wrong. He was a coward after all. He couldn't stand up to Salem one bit."
"So you knew about Salem too?" Asked Ruby. And Jupiter nodded. "When I heard Lionheart is dead, I felt nothing but relief. Cause then he would've sold my brothers and sisters for dead. And thank God, Neptune wasn't there when Haven was about to be bombed by the White Fang. I have to push away my own family ever since. Cause if they knew who I was related to, then all of my loves ones would've been killed by Salem." Then he turned back to Winter. "You were one of the strongest students in Atlas Academy. Where were you when Beacon Academy was attacked? Where were you when your sister was at Haven Academy and was nearly destroyed by Cinder Fall?! Where were you, when Mantle was about to be destroyed by Salem?! People are dying, because they were neglected and abandoned!" Yelled Jupiter. But Winter snaps back.
"I was just following Ironwood's orders, it was getting out of hand!" Winter shouted. "Do you obviously think I wanted this?! What about the fact that you have been away from your own family?! Putting your own brother in danger?! This all could've been prevented if you did not resist arrest!"
"And whose fault, is that?! Oh, wait, I know. Yours. You just let your pride get the best of you. Nothing more. Driving away your own siblings. You have no idea how scared they were, when you become general. And you can't bring yourself to save your mother after all the hellhole that monster of a father put her through. Just because you blamed her for not protecting them from him."
Those words have made Winter angry and pulled her sword to lunge at him. But she stopped as her sword nearly pierced his chest. She panted after all the anger that fueled her. and he was right in any way. She lowers her blade in realization
"You're right. I have driven them all against me. The reason I have been grateful to Ironwood, he inspired me to escape this misery. But what I have regret, never getting my siblings out of this. I pushed my own sister, and my own brother away to maintain his honor. But instead, I lived in his shadow, even after he is gone. Weiss did the right thing when the people in Mantle is evacuated. All I did was just sit in the sidelines after realizing, I wasn't in the right place. Cause I spent so much time, hating my parents. Even my younger brother, cause I only saw my father in him." Winter admits. Dejectedly walks away. Still holding the sword. Jupiter sighs in relief for that admitting of guilt.
Winter has boarded the plane to Atlas Academy at the age of 17. Finding a path of her own. But before she set foot on the plane, a younger Weiss is running after her. She didn't told her she was leaving because she knew she would miss her badly.
"Miss Schnee?" Inquired Klein.
"Klein, hold her. I have to leave." Klein nodded. And holds her back to keep her from holding Winter back. "Miss Schnee, I'm sorry. But your sister has to leave." Weiss keeps kicking to fight the grip. And then bawled as her elder sister boarded the shop.
"Winter, don't leave me! I want to go with you!" Winter regretted to have to leave her behind at the hands of a monstrous father of hers. But there is nothing she could do to help her, or her brother. Seeing her in tears, have hurt her more than anyone else.
It wasn't fair for her, but I have nowhere else to go, but there. It was then that General Ironwood taught me the importance of having a team, life and death. From this day, I pledge to follow him in the ends of Remnant. Until he ignited Martial Law. There was nothing I could do. I thought that with the Winter Maiden's powers, I would do good for Remnant. But it came crashing down. I pushed my own team away for them to make their decisions. We were once the Ace Operatives, the best of the best. I was the leader of Team WNND. They became more like family to me. But I cannot be unfair to them either, so I stayed to let them choose on their own.
Winter stood not looking at the group in the eye. They all stood shock. Even the male members in huntsmen teams are frightened by their outburst. Scarlet focuses steering the wheel.
"Sad story, but can we focus on the main subject around here? The world is about to come to an end, people!" Sun shouted flapping his arms out. Mai then steps up to get them to focus.
"You two need to put your differences aside. Cause right now, both your siblings are in danger all because of your arrogance." Mai said, fiercely. Being calm runs in the Ren family. Mai helped her nephew find his peace to continue to live. "I understand that the both of you have gone through a lot of painful times. But what you need now is to take the time for the both of you to fight together. Whose ever bloodline you're from, doesn't not matter. What matters now is that we have to end this curse at once."
They then turned to face each other. But still not in a friendly state of settlement. They stated at each other for a matter of seconds for some thinking of choices. Mai has a point that they're loved one's lives are at stake. They walked over to each other and pressed their hands in a handshake. But grudgingly.
"When this is over, we'll go our separate ways. But next time, it will be my team against yours." Winter stated. And Jupiter didn't argue. Another day for another time for a challenge.
"For once, I'll take it as an agreement." Nodded Jupiter. Then Ren sensed it, there was something about to attack. Mi felt the immense force that will strike. "Oh no, don't look now. But we got company." Warned Ren. Then large tentacles emerged from the crashing waves. Ren then turned to Jaune. "Jaune, let me go. We need to take care of this." Then turned to Mi. "Mi, with me." She nods. Jaune lets go of Ren's shoulder and it deactivates his semblance.
Then Ren and Mi have taken out their green moon stones. Shocking The group. "Those are..." Jupiter paused when the Ren cousins have glowed and then received battle armor of their own. Mai could feel the aura rising up. Ren's armor has a few plates from the chest, the pointy pads on his shoulders. A headband with the insignia of the Lotus. And Mi has a similar armor.
"So this is the power of the moon stones. Depending of which season you're born from, not only your aura will risen, but you also receive an armor. The armor acts as shields for your bodies. While the bodies act as weapons for combat and weaponry." Jaune said in amazement. The cousins took the stance against the Kraken. The Kraken makes its move by bringing it's tentacles down to the ship. But Mi took the upper hand by using her fans and psychokinesis to create a whirlpool to not let the legendary Grimm get away easily. Causing the ship to hurl along. But Mi made sure that the ship stays in tact. Ren shoots fire dust arrows at the tentacles. But the Kraken keeps regenerating. "What the-?! Yelled Scarlet.
"The Kraken keeps regenerating its arms! We need to find its weakness!" Drey shouts. Jupiter then uses his goggles for inspection of the Grimm's weakness. Then it locked in the hidden core where it was bright hot in the radar. Jupiter then removes his goggles. "It's weakness is the core beneath its beak. If we can rip it opened, then we'll destroy the core to not let it regenerate." He then turns to the group. "Who wants to go first? We might need to create a distraction while we get the core to be exposed." Jupiter asked. Ruby then grinned and turned to Jaune, as if they had a plan. "Jaune, give me a boost!" Ruby ordered and runs to him, Jaune lifted his shield up front, Ruby boosted her feet off the shield as he pushes her from it. Allowing Ruby to spun her scythe and slice the kraken's tentacles. Using her speed to jump from one arm to another.
The Kraken tries to grab Ruby, but it was a failure when Drey uses his daggers to cut them off. But the more they were cut off, the more tentacles they grew. Sun was amazed that one of his best friend's enemies have a change of heart. With flame comes with purity. Molten metal have been spread for the diced tentacles. Jupiter is impressed to see Ruby in high spirits. He was told about a young girl with silvers eyes by one of his comrades. One tentacle have grabbed Winter's left ankle and dragged her into the ocean. But Winter fiercely swung her blade at the one gripping her and swam free from the Kraken. Using her glyph to resurface from the sea. And landed back onto the ship.
Sage then uses a grenade form the ship to distract the Kraken. "Hey, over here you overgrown squid!" He yelled, a tentacle slumped over the back side of the ship. Mai orders the cannons to be fired at will. Only 3 our of 7 was destroyed by the tentacle. "Keep firing! Do not stop!" She orders. Sun and Sage fends off the tentacles coming to the ship. Ren then switches to his Stormflowers, and shoots the beak of the Kraken. Jupiter then jumps on the tentacles and spun his De Nile, but was knocked by another one of the tentacles. He nearly crashed into the body of the ocean, until Winter aided him by using a glyph to land on in midair. He looks at her and she gave a nod. And Jupiter nods back and jumps in more glyphs to cut more of the tentacles. Then Winter summons a Lancer to ride on and join in. Nolan defends Scarlet while he was still stirring the wheel. Using his baton to electrocute the tentacles coming after him. Mi then slides on the tentacle to unravel the core. Using her fan blades to slice the tentacles. Jumping from one arm to another.
"Nolan, cover me!" Scarlet said, and Nolan nodded to take over the steering wheel. The crimson-haired huntsman uses his weapon, Hook and Darling to grapple on the tentacles with a grappling hook, and swing over the core to cut the center. Ren shots more arrows as Jaune then crosses his sword to fight off two more tentacles. Choi then runs next to his wife to ensure the safety of the ship. "That's it, just a little bit more, there's a hidden eyeball." Blake spins her Gamble Shroud like a sphere to shield the ship. She turned to Sun and nodded as he gave him one of his Via Sun clones and threw her towards the Kraken. She landed on the center, and summersaults over the center to make the spot weakened, with her katana.
With one final shot of an arrow. Ren blows it up, the beak have opened widely with a crack. His positive thoughts came to mind of his father's final words. Take action, my son. His focus concentrated to the center of the beak. Father, lend me your strength. He thought. Letting the calm aura see the weakness of the Kraken. It was weakening. No aura, but its power has come to its limits. He then releases the explosive arrow. As it cracked its beak opened, it reveled a yellow eye. Jaune took this opportunity to slay the aquatic beast, and piercing its eye. The creature let out s painful shriek. As the Kraken turned to black ashes, Jaune remains standing in the whilrpool, until Winter gave him a lift with a projectile lancer Grimm. The whirlpool dissipates. The moon stones lost its shine and returns Lie and Mi Ren back to their normal gear.
"Never thought there was a Grimm like that." Blake said.
"That was totally awesome! Mi was like swooshing the air, to make the wind of her own! And Jupiter was like a fast slash, and pow! I mean, you guys are totally awesome!" Ruby squealed.
"You haven't changed a bit, Ruby." Sighed Blake, but happily. Seeing she is still the joyful girl she is today despite the tragedies.
"Come to think of it, I never thought the power of the moon stones could be so immense. They were said to be impossible to find." Said Nolan.
"What kind of Grimm is that anyway?" Asked Jaune.
"That was the Kraken. Looks like we were able make it in time before the full moon rises. We might as well hurry. Scarlet, continue to set sail to the island." Ordered Mai. Sun then steps forward for the request. And raises his hand. "Can I drive this time?" He asked. But knowing Sun, he could be reckless at times, even though he's the leader. It doesn't stop everyone from refusing. "NO!" They all shouted.
