My Fathers Daughter
Clark Kent's first Father's Day
(Father's Day one shot)
A/N: THIS IS WHAT I THINK CLARK'S VERY FIRST FATHER'S DAY LOOKED LIKE! ESPECIALLY WHEN HE IS IN A ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP WITH DIANNA!
"She's talking to angels, counting the stars
Making a wish on a passing car
She's dancing with strangers, falling apart
Waiting for Superman to pick her up
In his arms yeah, in his arms yeah
Waiting for Superman"
-"Waiting for Superman." Daughtry
My father's daughter
(Clark's first Father's Day)
(Clark 16 years, Percy 10 months)
Martha walked into Clark's room as quiet as she could. She knew the flooring would creek under any kind of pressure. Now Clark's room, it was set up like a studio apartment with no kitchen. Well, there was a fridge, but that was mostly for drinks. And it was mostly for Persephone for when she has to go to bed and needed a bottle of milk.
There were also drinks in the fridge for Clark too. Like energy drinks for when has late nights with Persephone. There was also soda, juice and lemonade in there for when Clark does his homework. Clark has this habit of drinking anything he can get his hands on while doing the work.
There is popsicles and hand held ice cream in the freezer too. The popsicles and ice cream was put in there by Martha because Clark has this habit of loosing track of time and missing meals when he is Busy with school work or Persephone.
There was a bed for Clark, a crib for little Persephone on one of the short walls with a big window looking over the field. If you looked out of the window, you could see the barn. It also looked to Dianna's house. On another wall there was a tv screwed onto the wall with movies and a DVD player and a cable box on a wooden entertainment center under it, and there were some books on the walls. Well wall as Clark needed all the room he could get.
On the other small wall, there is a bay window. One of places where Clark does his homework. Or think. There is also a play area for Persephone on the floor near it. Clark loved to play with his daughter there. There was a little hide out for Clark to change his clothes. As Clark didn't really want to change in front of Persephone. Even if she won't remember.
See, Clark's room had been moved to the attic by Clark and Jonathan. After getting the crib down from there they saw that there wasn't really any room. Even after arranging the room. So after transferring everything in the attic to the basement and fixing up the attic so it would be livable and making a staircase for the attic, Clark's room was moved up there.
The room was Clark's own space. Where he didn't have to hide his powers. Where he could do what ever he wanted. As long as it didn't burn down the house. Or blow it up for that matter.
They still needed a place to live after all. And they didn't need all that headache about rebuilding their home any time. And it involved money that they didn't really have on hand.
Clark did everything in his power to keep the house standing. He obviously wanted keep his parents happy. And it was real easy to do with the Kent's as they didn't anger easy. Especially when Clark gave his mother her favorite chocolates. The only person that got Jonathan raging mad was Lionel Luther. The father of Lex Luther.
Clark and Lex tried to be friends, but something happened and Lex started to spiral down. There was nothing to be done. Lex was already to far gone.
Now Martha wanted to wake her sleeping son up before waking her sleeping granddaughter up. But what she saw was the most adorable thing ever. Clark and Persephone were sleeping on Clark's couch together. She saw Persephone sleeping on her Daddy's chest.
(A/N: Look at the cover if you need a visual for this.)
It was like she was listening to his heartbeat or breathing. Or both. It was quite cute. It showed a fathers love for his daughter. Making Persephone a real daddy's girl.
This also showed that Persephone may not have wanted to go to sleep straight away and there was a late night for the both of them. Or Clark fell asleep before he got the chance to put Persephone in her crib and his butt in his own bed. Either way, this was the cutest thing Martha had ever seen.
Besides her sons baby pictures that is. Martha noticed one of Persephone's bottles on the floor. Like it had fell out of Clark's hand or it got knocked off the table. Martha quickly picked the bottle up from the floor.
This made Martha wish she had a daughter of her own. Someone to make Jonathan a little bit softer. This made Martha's heat yearn for something like this. But Martha settles for her granddaughter.
Martha quickly took out her phone and took a of the sleeping two. She sent a copy to Dianna and Jonathan's phones. Now Martha had met Dianna a couple weeks ago during dinner. And Martha absolutely love Dianna.
She and Clark had been dating for about a couple of weeks by then. And Martha could tell they were head over heals for each other. And Martha liked how Dianna was accepting of little Persephone. Now they've been dating for about a month.
Dianna had bought Nell Potter's house so she and Lana could move into town to be closer to the school and Nell's work. Dianna came over whenever she could. But mostly it was for dinner. Clark along with Persephone went over to Dianna's home just as much.
Maybe more then Dianna went over to the Kent's home. Martha knew that her son wanted a mother for his daughter. And Dianna was the best logical choice out there. Dianna knew of the struggles. She herself had to raise her niece alone.
Dianna had decided to open up a jewelry store. There was a lot of things one would find in ancient times. Clark sometime worked there to get some extra money. The store was a big hit as the residents of Smallville used to go up to metropolis to get jewelry.
And during that meeting Martha and Clark had learned that Dianna was an Amazon and the daughter of Zeus king of the gods and Hippolyta Queen of Themyscira.
Trusting Dianna fully. Clark then told her that he was an alien from the planet Krypton. They both accepted the fact that they were not normal. And would never be normal. And even after all the things that were said, Dianna and Clark were still together.
Clark also explained the situation with Persephone. Dianna decided to help with Persephone. She actually loved the little girl. Clark and Dianna had also both agreed to not tell Persephone of her heritage till she was old enough and ready but would teach her the Ancient Greek ways.
Dianna replied back to Martha's text with an, "Aww, how cute." Martha smiles knowing how infatuated Dianna was with both Clark and Persephone. But with Persephone more.
She quietly crept up to her son. She tried not to make a sound.
But this was a very old house. And the floorboards would creek. Especially the floor of this room. And for people wanting to creep in the room, it would be near impossible to do so.
Clark blinked awake. He was the only one in the house to have sensitive hearing. That they know of. They still don't know if Persephone has sensitive bearing or not.
"Mom?" Clark asked groggily and lifting his head a little as he felt weight on his chest
He rubbed his eyes trying to wake up. He didn't really like mornings. They usually involve taking care of Persephone and doing his chores. Sometimes at the same time. It was never his favorite time of day. Especially when Persephone had been up all night.
"Happy Father's Day son. It's your first one as Persephone's father." Martha whispers to Clark as loud as she dares with a big smile plasters itself on her face
Clark checked his phone that was on the table. It was indeed Father's Day. His first one as an actual father. Clark smiled to himself. He knew this was going to be a good day. Clark did a maneuver and stood up. Martha didn't know how he did that without flying.
Clark gently placed Persephone in her crib. Martha walked out of the room to give her son some privacy. Clark got dressed in his usual farmers boy attire. Faded blue jeans and a plaid shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and a few buttons undone.
By the time Clark walked over to the crib, Persephone was awake and babbling. Clark found this action cute. Clark encouraged this form of communication.
"Hey my little sea princess." Clark said with a smile
Persephone babbled. It was like she was saying good morning to Clark. It was the only thing that kept Clark going in the mornings.
"Are you hungry baby girl?" Clark asked
Persephone babbled once again. She also clapped then laughed. It was really really cute.
Clark walked down to the kitchen where he met up with his parents. Clark saw that his mother had started to make breakfast. And from what Clark saw, breakfast consisted of eggs, bacon, sausage links, and chocolate chip pancakes. The pancakes and eggs were soft enough for Persephone to eat.
"Good morning Clark." Jonathan said not looking up from his copy of the Horseshoe gazette a news paper Smallville distributed for its residents.
Clark put Persephone in her highchair that was next to his. Once the trey was secure and no finger caught, Martha put some cut up pancake and egg on it. Persephone began to feed herself happily. Clark laughed a little as he watched her have fun with the food in front of her.
There were point that Persephone would hit the trey and laugh. It made everyone else laugh a little bit.
"Good morning dad." Clark replied
Clark sits down as Martha sets his plate down. He puts a lot of butter on the pancakes and then tried to drown them in syrup. Jonathan looked up to see what his son was doing.
"Clark, I think your pancakes are drowning." Jonathan said
"If Poseidon can't drown in the ocean or any other source of water, neither can my pancakes with syrup." Clark said joyfully and with an evil smirk
Jonathan shook his head and smiled. Clark liked to drown his pancakes in syrup each time they had pancakes. And lately each time Jonathan or Martha said something about it, Clark replied with that the god of the sea can't drown in the ocean then his pancakes can't in syrup.
Clark looked to his parents. Clark knew that his mother was taking out Jonathan for a dinner. Clark, on the other hand, was spending the day with Persephone. And Dianna was taking them out for big belly burger for dinner.
Big belly burger was a restaurant Clark liked to eat at but couldn't go to a lot. Especially now that he has a daughter to look after. Now being Father's Day, Clark didn't have to do his chores.
After breakfast Clark did the dishes for his mother like always and got Persephone cleaned up. He walked back to his room and Clark changed his daughter. The onesie said 'I'm daddy's little princess' on the front.
After this Clark drove to the park. The swings there were one of Persephone's favorite things.
When Clark was walking to the park from the parking lot, Chloe ran up to him. She quickly took a picture and ran off again. Some time after the thing with the blonde haired girl, Clark's phone beeped.
There was an alert on the schools buddy site. See the tech teacher created the site so the students could be if they went on a vacation or something.
Now Chloe had posted a picture. It was of Clark holding Persephone. And Persephone was reaching for the camera. The caption read, 'Clark Kent's first Father's Day. I'm so happy for him.'
Clark grumbled as he put his phone back in his pocket. He really wanted to kill his friend for this. But he knew that he couldn't or there would be consciences.
Clark took a deep breath to calm himself as he gently placed Persephone into the baby swing in front of him. He remembered not to use his full strength. Not even his human strength.
After a half hour, Clark and Persephone left the park. Clark drove up to metropolis there he met up with Dianna for lunch. And because Big Belly Burger was dinner, Dianna and Clark chose subway for lunch. Clark gave Persephone the food that was in her bag.
After lunch Dianna and the two Kents went to a field just outside of town. There they sat on the ground and played. After a few hours, the group of three went back into town.
It was dinner time so they went to Big Belly Burger. There was a bunch of laughter. After dinner Clark drove Dianna, Persephone and himself back to Smallville.
When they got to Dianna's house Clark flew himself and Persephone up to the roof. There they watched the sunset. A thing Clark did with Jonathan before Persephone came into the family. Clark wanted it to be a tradition he had with his daughter like it was for him and his father.
Dianna had an idea. She retrieved her Nikon camera to take a picture of this scene. It was captured perfectly. This was one of the cutest things she had seen since the picture Martha texted her earlier.
"Tell me the story about how the sun loved the moon so much he died every night to let her breathe." Dianna asked in a sweet soft voice
There was only one story Clark could think of. It was a Kryptononian story. A one that was written in English and left for Clark. And when he discovered about him being an alien he read that story over and over again. And this was the story Dianna asked for.
"There once was a moon, as beautiful as can be, only the stars could fathom, but the sun could not see. The sun so radiant, he burns so bright. The moon so luminous, but only showed her face during the night. She was untouchable, surrounding herself with a blanket of darkness. The sun would give anything to catch a glimpse of the Moon illuminating the beautiful night sky." Clark said
Dianna day next to her boyfriend as he told the story. She and Persephone loves the sound of Clark's voice.
"Until one day when the Sun was sliding out of the heavens, he caught a glimpse of her. She was peeking up, a rare side of her being exposed to the light. And while the Sun could shine, he knew the Moon could glow.
"Just as the Stars were wandering into the night, the Sun fell in love like a snowball hurdling down a mountain. How he wished to see her move than the fleeting moments he shared with her at both dawn and dusk. But they were a world apart.
""Go," she whispered to him one of those nights, her voice as sweet and sorrowful as the last light of morning. "Go and let me breathe, for you and I have decided fates. You illuminate the day, and I cast a glow one the night. We will never be. Our connection would go against what all the people believe, all they know" During the summer he would stay a little longer just in case she would change his mind. It was no use.
""Don't you dare abandon your blessing of light for my darkness." And those were the last words the Moon was strong enough to speak to the Sun.
"The Sun could feel her peaceful soul and it soon became clear. He would die each and every night to let his true love breathe, for it would put an end to all her misery." Clark said
The story ended. He looked down to his daughter in his arms. She was sleeping soundly. This story always got her to sleep. Persephone was cute when she slept.
Clark flew through the window that Dianna had opened and landed gently on his feet. He walked right to the Persephone's play pen. Clark didn't want to leave his daughter. But he knew that he had to.
Clark walked down to the kitchen where Dianna was already waiting for him. She had a beer waiting for him too. Martha and Jonathan knew Clark drank, but also knew it would not really affect him in the way it did humans.
Dianna had put a 24 pack beer in Clark's fridge and a couple of bottles of vodka in the freezer. She had thought it was funny to do it. She brought it in right under Martha and Jonathan's noses.
"How was your first Father's Day as a father hun?" Dianna asked
Clark took a quick drink of his beer.
"It was great. Well, Chloe being who she is photo bombed me and posted to the school buddy site." Clark said
He took a drink the pulled out his phone and showed his girlfriend the picture Chloe had taken earlier at the park.
"Oh, my gods." Dianna said covering her mouth trying not to laugh.
"Now that's enough." Clark said taking the phone away from Dianna
"Oh come on. I was having fun." Dianna whined while trying to give Clark her best look
Dianna straddled Clark's lap. She knew this would get him relaxed.
"Well babe, I'm not having fun." Clark exclaims pitting his hands on Dianna's waist
"Then let get you to have fun." Dianna said with one of the biggest smiles Clark had ever seen on her face.
Clark knew what his girlfriend was thinking. And he liked it. He liked it a lot. And it was pretty obvious when Dianna's hands started to roam Clark's body. He then let Dianna drag I'm away from the kitchen. And his beer bottle.
As the day finally died into night, Clark had the best Father's Day that ever was. Clark knew down deep in his heart and in the back of his mind that his daughter would not remember this day but he and Dianna will.
