"So, I guess we're team Halloween?" Izumi leaned back against the railing as she looked to her teammate for the bomb exercise they were supposed to be doing today. It was kind of like capture the flag, but with only one flag, and they were called heroes and villains. Poor Itsuka had to put up with that guy the whole time.

Though, Izumi wondered if she would have been better off with Neito.

It wasn't that she didn't like Reiko or anything, just that she was really, really quiet. And as much as Izumi loved talking to herself, her ability to carry a conversation was limited by how much the other person talked! Setsuna never shut up, Itsuka always had something clever to say, and Momo was Momo!

Reiko was a tall, white-haired woman with blue eyes and had the potential to be really cute, if it wasn't for the fact that every time Izumi looked at her the girl was striking some weird pose out of a manga with a deadpan look on her face and bags under her eyes. Her hero outfit was cute though, consisting mostly of a light purple Yukata and a mask that covered her mouth. She was even showing more leg than Izumi was.

"?" Reiko managed to tilt her head to the side and indicated her confusion without even speaking.

Did the mindreading hamster rub off on her?

Izumi bumped her broom against her knees and looked up at the building they were going to be fighting in. "Since I'm a witch, and you're a ghost, we're kind of like the two spookest girls in the class, right? So we're team Halloween?"

"Heh," Reiko gave a light snort and smiled at that. "I like it."

Woo new friend!

"So, what's your quirk anyways?" Izumi asked, she had seen Reiko move stuff during the apprehension test, even managing to score infinity on the ball throwing test. "I'd explain mine but it's, uhh, complicated."

"Not complicated." Reiko said and pointed at her. "You can cast magic. It's simple. And really cool."

How to become Izumi's friend.

Step 1) Compliment her quirk.

No further steps are needed.

"Hehe, I'm glad you think so." Izumi stuck her tongue out and tugged on her hat a bit.

Reiko nodded. "Mine is also simple. I can move about two hundred pounds of objects with my mind. That includes people, but they struggle so it's hard." Reiko demonstrated by picking up a trash can and moving it up and over them. "You can do the same right?"

"Kind of, I'm not sure if there's a weight limit or anything, but I can't target people yet, and I can only control one object at a time." Izumi frowned, she didn't want to make it feel like she could do everything that Reiko could do but better. "I also can't really fly with my quirk." She pointed into the sky. "Just go up."

"Hmm," Reiko gave a slow steady blink and then pointed towards her broom. "Don't witches normally fly with those?"

Izumi looked at her broom for a moment. Witches did fly with their brooms, right? Could her Control Object spell let her do just that? She knew that it was pretty sturdy as far as what could budge it, but what if…

She willed her broom out of her hands and let it spin in the air before it stopped, horizontal and at eye-level with her. She grabbed the broom firmly with both hands and then willed it up. Up. Up. Her feet left the ground. She let out an excited squeal, and promptly lost control of the broom as it shot out of her hands and nearly past the building.

Instead of falling onto her ass, she instead stopped mid-air and then turned to face Reiko, who was holding her hands out in front of her. Izumi found her body slowly touching down onto the ground softly.

"Uhh, thanks Reiko, that was a close one!"

"You're heavier than you look."

"That's cause I'm thick."

"Hmm," Reiko hummed and then looked up towards the broom. "Do you need me to get that for you?"

"Nope! I got it!" Izumi held out her hand and her broom flew down towards it with all the grace and poise she could muster. "So, should we try and strategize for this? Itsuka has like a black belt, and Neito can copy quirks, so we might be dealing with two close range heroes, right? And I think we're both long range right?"

"Can you cast fireball?"

"Not yet."

"Darn."

"But, I actually think that we can do this pretty easily. You can disable one person with your quirk, right?" Izumi asked, bouncing her broom against her knees. "Like, it's hard, but doable?"

Reiko nodded. "It shouldn't be too hard."

"And I have some spells that I can use to subdue someone too! So we might be able to win just by capturing them!" Izumi stood and twirled her broom around effortlessly. "I think that you need to take out Neito first; if he can copy your quirk we might be in trouble."

"What if he copies yours?" Reiko asked with a deadpan look on her face. "From the way he was complaining about your quirk, it sounds like it'd be useless if he gets it, and Itsuka is the better fighter. I think we should go for her first."

"I…" Honestly she had nothing. "That's a good idea, so, do you think you can stop Itsuka?"

"Probably." Reiko shrugged. "Can you take Neito?"

"Gladly."

Neito had the wonderful ability to rub everyone the wrong way. Itsuka described him as a good reason to be a lesbian.

The buzzer sounded, and All Might's voice boomed across the speakers.

"Show us what you got! Plus Ultra!"

"Let's take the roof up." She grabbed onto her broom and placed the brushes onto the ground and willed it to stay steady. "You go first, I'll meet you up there. Avoid the windows."

Reiko nodded and fluttered up with a Nejire level of effortlessness. Maybe one day she'd be able to get to that point.

With a sigh, Izumi jumped and hugged her broom with all her might, and found that it was still standing. That was good! Alright, now to make it go up. She just needed to think about it and do what she always did when she controlled an object and picture it moving through the air. Only, she was used to seeing the object in relation to herself. Now, she basically was the object.

Her broom shook as she moved upwards.

Stairs would have been quicker.

First floor, second floor, third floor, roof.

She floated over to the rooftop and had to resist the urge not to gasp for air.

Her heart was pounding just from that! But it worked!

She could totally use her broom to fly! That was a lot safer than Selfus Yeetus!

"We have a problem." Reiko announced the moment Izumi stopped kissing the ground. She pointed towards the roof access with the same deadpan look on her face she always seemed to have. "It's locked."

"Oh," Izumi held up her broom and flipped it into her hands so that she was pointing the wooden end at the door. "That's easy, but it's going to be loud, so get ready."

Reiko, showed great insight as she got out of the way without needing to be told.

Izumi hummed and drew her first spell in the air, only instead of using just her fingers, she used the end of her broom. The effect was twofold: a larger circle meant a more powerful spell, but so too did a wider tip.

Force, arrow, forward.

The cement walls of the entranceway cracked as the iron door was blasted off its hinges and into the building with enough force to sound like a car crash. Reiko dove in first, the dust and debris following her like the clouds flowing around Mt. Fuji.

Izumi followed suit, thankful that she hadn't decided to go with heels for her costume even if they would make her look cooler, or was it hotter? Still though, going down stairs sucked! At least the protective leotard of her costume made it so she didn't bounce quite so much. After a few quick jumps, she arrived at the top floor right after Reiko.

With a blast of telekinetic debris, Itsuka was forced up against the wall, her large hands cracking into the concrete as she tried to fight back.

Neito moved towards Reiko, his hands enlarged due to Itsuka's quirk.

"Oh no you don't!" Izumi shouted and charged at him. Just like she practiced with Byleth-sensei, she sent her broom ahead first, spinning it to make a powerful deterrent that forced Neito to back off, and heavily reconsider what he was doing.

"Guh! You and your useless quirk!" Neito shouted! "I just had to get matched up against you!"

"Useless huh? It's not my fault you suck at magic!"

She finished the spell right as Neito grabbed her broom and broke it in two, and tossed it to the ground. "I won't let you—"

Barrier, object, rings, constrict!

Using the full range of her arm, Izumi drew another powerful spell. This one was designed to hold just about anyone in place. Three rings appeared around Neito, targeting his shirt as they constricted inwards.

"Ha!" Neito laughed and placed his enlarged hands up to the side. "You already explained how that trick worked! If I don't let my arms down you can't con—"

The broken remains of her broom were still on the ground. With a thought, the handle went flying up and hit Neito right in the nuts.

His guard dropped.

"That was dirty," he squeaked.

"Yeah, well, don't break my shit." She pouted and looked at her broken broom. That was going to happen a lot wasn't it? "Hey, Reiko can you move Ituska next to—"

"Please don't put me in a bubble with him," Itsuka whined. "I'd rather give up."

"Only because you asked nicely." Izumi nodded.

The buzzer sounded, and once again All Might's voice echoed throughout the building. "With a decisive capture victory, the heroes have won! What do you think the key to their victory was? What? Setsuna? How is that, no! That doesn't matter for hero work! They used teamwork and had a—" there was a pause. "Oh, I forgot to turn this off, didn't I. Uhh, congratulations Izumi and Reiko! Report back to the rest of the class! Unless you're injured!"

As awesome as All Might was, he was a bit of an awkward goofball.
