"Worse of all. It's Ivy teamed up with William and Carol." Rufus answers and slumps on the couch.
All of them scoff.
Rufus then. "It's war now guys. And we don't negotiate with terrorists. Especially the ones from Florida." He says repeating Lily's words.
Everyone nods.
Serena agrees and repeats Rufus' words.
"It's war."
Everyone then meets each other's glance and silently agree.
"Van der Woodsen-Bass-Humphrey is back! Archibald too!"
Eric jokes to lighten the mood.
Everyone laughs.
11pm; 14 hours till arrest. CIA headquarters, World Trade Center.
Lily got transferred to a cell.
Even when she got that one time arrested with Carol she thought never would be in a cell or worse sleeping there.
She sighes taking in the concrete cell with iron steel bars on window and the whole walls made of them.
She tried sleeping, as she felt she was so exhausted from all this drama, talking and answering all their silly questions.
She felt hopeless, if in 14 hours the witnesses don't come forward or atleast take the call, she'll be declared as an official cold blooded murderer.
She shivered at that thought
No she thought, I'll not give up, I haven't done it and nor will let it got to Chuck and Blair, I'll get out soon I know it. I have many good people working.
With that thinking into her mind, Lily stumbled into a deep sleep on the uncomfortable twin bed dreaming about when she's done, out and about, with Rufus.
12 am; 13 hours till arrest. Milan Condonium
Rufus was swearing profusely now and getting ticked off.
He couldn't let this happen.
He couldn't let Lily get in prison.
Actually everyone was now verge on blowing.
Serena was first.
"This is all your fucking fault, Chuck! Both of you fucking fault. Did you just had to do that?! Did you fucking had to kill him?"
Serena shouted on Chuck and Blair.
"Hey, hey now, you don't mean it Serena, it's none of their fault, if it's someone's it's Bart's."
Eric tried to calm and reason with Serena.
"Oh don't Eric don't, it's his freaking fault.
He sent mom on that cruise.He didn't help Bart. He did all this!"
Serena shouted and almost lunged onto Chuck, but Nate and Eric pulled her back.
Chuck knew it was his fault.
He was so guilty. He was so devastated that Lily had to go through it.
The only parent figure was Lily and she was the closest he ever had to a mother.
And he let her take the fall for him.
He couldn't.
He couldn't do this anymore.
He suddenly got up from the couch and rushed to elevator without an answer as Blair called after him.
"Serena! You are no right! None to do that! He's doing everything he can?! Can't you see it's taking a toll on him as much on all of us."
Rufus now spoke up.
"Serena, it's not the time or the place to do this. Everyone, let's call it a day and get back here in the morning. That's the best now we can do. And my people are going to find these witness and I promise you, I'll personally go hunt them, even if they don't want to be found I'll find them."
With that everyone nodded their head, said goodbye and departed.
Blair took the help of Nate to take the babies.
Henry was up but Andrew and Audrey were still in the slumber.
Henry was confused, why all the people were at Grandma's but Grandma, herself wasn't here?
He came out of the room and saw his uncle Eric and Mr. Humphrey in deep conversation.
He walked up to Eric, Eric gave him a huge smile and took him into his lap.
"Uncle Eric, where's Grandma?"
Eric swallowed and carefully answered.
Rufus looked away.
"She's uhm, your Grandma is..."
Eric looked onto Rufus for help.
Rufus fake smiled. "Hi, Henry. I don't believe we have met. I'm Rufus Humphrey."
Henry turned to this stranger man with brunette hair and hazel eyes, who, he has been told is the father of Uncle Dan.
"Hi. I'm Henry. Henry Bass." Henry replied in the smug Bassiness he sure acquired from his father.
Rufus smiled. He loved kids. He loved being a father.
"So Henry as you know your Grandma is so fond of spas and spiritual meets. So she's off to Canyon Ranch, she being who she is forget to tell us, as Thrudays are annual family dinner we gathered here."
Henry's lip formed an "O" in approval and taking in the Rufus' white lie.
Henry then snapped his finger and replied."I knew it! Or else the moment I would have been up she would have showered me with his kisses not to care if she got all her lipstick over me!"
Rufus and Eric laughed.
"Yeah, kid true."
Blair was seeing this from a far and smiled.
She then came onto the trio.
"Come on Henry! We'll be late, your Iron Man and Armed Adventures will be over then."
Henry then quickly hopped saying a quick 'bye' and followed Nate with the twins.
Blair then smiled at Rufus.
"Thanks, Rufus. Henry is very close to Lily."
Rufus smiled in return.
"Oh it's nothing. I know Lily loves him too."
With that Blair left for her house.
Rufus smiled and then turned to Eric.
Eric tried to give a smile but failed.
"I fail to keep up. I mean, I thought mom would get karma but this is so much than she deserves. But I think we need to find Chuck Rufus, he could do anything and Serena did stung him."
Rufus nodded.
"You're right. We need to find him before he does something that will blow this up."
Rufus and Eric get up and head off to search for him.
12:30 am; 12 hrs 30 minutes till arrest. Palace Bar
Chuck took a cab not bothering with the town car as Blair and kids were still here, and headed off to Palace Bar.
As soon as he reached he ordered the bartender Scotch, and to keep it coming.
Bartender seeing who he was, didn't ask and silently obliged.
On his fourth Scotch, he chuckled to himself.
He's been such a bad son, letting his mother, the only mother he actually ever had to let experience this.
He eyed the fifth glass and then hurriedly gulped it in one sip.
He knew it was wrong.
It isn't his fault but felt like it was.
He then abruptly got up and snatched the whole bottle from what the bartender was pouring and started drinking from it wholly.
12:40 am; 12 hours 20 minutes till arrest.
Rufus and Eric with their helmets on were on Rufus' Kawasaki Ninja.
They hurried past through the town cars, limos, Lyfts, Ubers and cabs.
They had stopped at SoHo Grand, Empire, AudreyAndrew and were on their way to Victrola, maybe he's there.
Suddenly then Eric's phone rang.
They stopped at parking lane as Eric picked the phone up seeing the caller ID being Blair.
"Yeah, Blair we're searchi--"
Eric answered.
"Oh, he is? Thank you."
Eric then ended the call.
Rufus enquired."What did she say?"
To which Eric, replied."The Palace."
Rufus nodded and they put their helmets back on and Rufus turned the bike around in a manner that would leave any Fast and Furious guy proud of him, getting some horns and yells, speeding away towards Palace.
Chuck had fallen asleep and then the bartender being himself slowly, took out Chuck's phone and called Blair, and told her about his situation.
Chuck being oblivious to it, had been mumbling something about how that time he had misled Lily believing Bart was cheating on her with some Asian chick as he had disapproved his Victrola project right outside this particular hotel. That first time she acted so motherly on him and he had sabotaged it.
Just like now.
She must be hating him now.
He thought he was going crazy as he heard Eric calling his name and shaking him up
He slowly turned his head up as the vision started to turn from blur to somewhat clear.
He wasn't imagining.
It really was Eric with Rufus standing behind him.
What were they doing here?
They couldn't be here for him?
After what he did to Lily? Certainly not for him.
Then he glanced towards the bartender and the bartender gave him a sad smile with a shrug and Chuck nodded.
"Chuck! Come on! You're supposed to the big brother not me!" Eric tried to cheer him up.
"He's right, Chuck you have left all this behind, don't go back, you have the second chance, got a family, great kids, don't screw it up now!" Rufus tried to help too.
"I'm fucked up, don't you see, she's there coz of me. I'm such a bad son. She doesn't deserve me." Chuck mumbled angrily.
"Now that's not right, Chuck. She's counting on us. If we get like this, she might not come out." Rufus tried again.
"We don't have it, Rufus. For all we know, those bastards of witness are somewhere in Bahamas vacationing off." Chuck tried to got up but fell flat on his face. Rufus and Eric rushed to him but he brushed them off.
"I'm fine, I'm fine." He got up and stood somewhat upright.
He thought about Lily and how miserable she must be in that horrible cell. He needed to get her out.
He thought of all times she had his back, when he went to Paris, when the company was almost broke and with this cruise too. All the times she was there. For him.
She loved him.
Then it suddenly knocked some sense to him.
"You're right. You both are, she's counting on us." Chuck looked onto Eric and Rufus and nodded.
Rufus looked to Eric, arms folded and Eric smiled.
"Get me home, Eric, get me home."
With that Chuck passes out.
Rufus and Eric with some help took him to his home.
9 am; Milan Condoniums, 3 hours to arrest.
Everyone had gathered.
They knew it was coming
But Rufus was in denial.
Still.
"No, no, no I'm not letting it happen. She's just not cut out for it." Rufus said as he covered his eyes with both of his head as everyone looked on with pity on him.
"Then there's only one way, Dad." Said a Boston voice.
"And that's the UES way." Said the other Brooklyn voice.
And everyone was shocked to see Scott Rosson teamed up with Jenny Humphrey.
"We have only one way and that is the Upper East Side one." Scott repeated.
Everyone then finally got out the shocks and there were greetings and hugs all around.
Scott sat with Rufus and Dan on the couch.
Jenny with Eric on bar stools.
Serena and Nate on separate chairs beside the couch.
Chuck and Blair opposite to Rufus, Scott and Dan.
"And what's that?" Blair asked.
" To cover lie with a lie." Jenny said in her sly voice.
"She's actually right, as a lawyer I shouldn't suggest, but perjury is better than a murder." Eric said.
"And what will be the lie and who will say it." Serena enquired.
Everyone looked onto Rufus.
Rufus got wide eyed.
"No."
"Rufus, you're the best here, squeaky clean record and the best lie." Nate said.
"And what lie?"
Blair scoffed.
Then Rufus got it.
"Oh. You mean an affair. That wouldn't work. We ended on bad terms, you all know it."
"Dad, I mean Rufus you know it, I know it, and the people in this room know it and Lily knows it but the world, they thought you were the perfect couple and were literally really shocked you two didn't make it." Scott now answered.
Rufus raised her right brow.
"Rufus, please just this we need it." Eric pleaded.
"Anything that gets her out." Rufus answered with a sad smile.
"But, if you, and I mean anyone uses this against me..." Rufus then scanned everyone's face
"It's Lily, we vow, it will never coz if we do, Lily's back in jail." Chuck clarified on behalf on anyone.
Everyone nodded and meet each other's gaze.
"You too, Little J." Blair threw it at her.
"Oh trust me, Lily is so better than all those 38 years olds and no offense Dad but Lisa too. They were so bitches." Jenny said in her nonchalantly.
Everyone gave a smile.
"So, what's our coverstory gonna be." Dan said.
"Oh, Humphrey leave that to me." Blair said with a smirk.
Rufus was on a bar stool surrounded by Chuck, Serena, Blair, Nate and Jenny.
"Rufus, now." Blair ordered him to recite the alibi.
"Lily was with me the night Bart died in fact, Dan and Serena 'caught' her with me that night with her trying to sneak out and she even recieved the call of his death with all of us." Rufus said.
"Why lie?" Chuck asked.
"Because a death and on top of it, a scandal that was just the cherry on the top for our reputation to be ruined." Rufus said.
"Why an affair, you had been annulled your marriage like months ago?" Nate enquired.
"Coz we were still in love, Bart had forced us and threatened to hurt Lily if we did said or told someone. Chuck had witnessed first hand how he threatened us." Rufus answers.
"Then why not get together after what happened." Jenny now asked.
"Lily resented me, she felt guilty about his death not that she did it, and took it on me." Rufus faked sadness.
Blair clapped her hands to have everyone's attention.
"That was perfect, Rufus. We're good to go."
Chuck kept a hand on Rufus' shoulder.
"You sure? This is to much we're asking and..." Chuck asked
"It's Lily and it's the only way. There's nothing I wouldn't do." Rufus smiled and answered.
11 am ; CIA headquarters ,1 hour till arrest.
Everyone entered the headquarters in a row. (Imagine Believer by Imagine Dragons playing.)
It felt like slow motion.
In middle we had Rufus, with Chuck on his left and Dan on right on followed by Blair with Chuck, Jenny with Dan, then Serena on Blair's side and Scott on Jenny's then Nate.
It radiated so much power.
Everyone turned to see them walking, like they felt compelled to.
Then finally, they reached the front desk.
"Hi, I'm Rufus Humphrey, reporting as a witness to Lily Rhodes' case." Rufus said as he smiled.
The head officer James then took Rufus into the custody.
Then Dan, Chuck and Serena got called to confirm it.
And then finally, they signed papers and it was over.
As they were about to be done, William and Ivy came rushing as they got the call to come here.
"What the hell is going on? I'm a witness! I saw her there!" Ivy chided.
James to which replied with his hands dangling off handcuffs coming closer to William and Ivy.
"They have three witness to one, Ms. Dickens and Mr Van der Woodsen, saying they were with her all the time when she recieved the call and before that." James said.
Some other officers came and then grabbed Ivy and William and hand cuffed them.
"Ivy Dickens and William Van der Woodsen you're arrested in the basis of perjury of a innocent witness to a matter of tying them into a cold blooded murder. You are hereby charged, and gonna serve for 4 years in prison for." James announced and took them off.
Rufus smiled and everyone meet his gaze as they too smiled. Finally achieving and winning the war.
Never mess with Upper East Siders.
Lily thought she was dreaming when James and Harvey came and unlocked her cell and said she was being released.
She had no idea what had been done and just thought that maybe just maybe a witness of the salon had come forward.
She was taken with Harvey, where she had to sign some forms and then she was free.
The doors opened and then she saw her whole family there and widely smiled, which she had not in, what she felt ages now.
Eric ans Serena rushed to her and both hugged her simultaneously.
"Eric and Serena!" Lily cried thier names.
She hugged back and had some tears of joy.
Eric cracked a joke. "Don't ever do that to us ever, again Mom."
"Oh, I don't plan on to Eric." She retorted.
Then she had Scott and Chuck come to her.
"I'll never let anything happen to you, Mom. We'll never." Chuck shyly said.
"Aww thanks Chuck, and you, you both come here!" She said to Scott and Chuck and hugged them as they hugged back.
And finally then Rufus with his boyish smirk, came to her.
"Told ya I'll get you." Rufus said.
"Did you now?" Lily teased him.
"Just be happy I got you out." Rufus joked.
" Oh, I'm so happy." Lily smiled at him and hugged him tightly
Everyone whistled on and chanted to them 'kiss' 'kiss' 'kiss'.
Lily blushed and then got on her shoes and kissed Rufus' cheek.
She broke the embrace and Rufus put his arm around her neck and they all went home.
Finally, Lily was back really home.
This time she made sure it was for good.

Rufus doing something heroic is always my thing.
I felt he was the only one who could do it as others didn't had a good record like Being Gossip Girl, Former Monaco princess, Being Serena herself and Chuck being Chuck Bass.
Oh how I wish I could turn this into a real one with same actors ...
