While Bruce and Naomi were on their dinner date, Ethan and Alabaster took Will and Percy to get their piercings. It was the one thing that Percy really wanted to get. She was really excited about it when she was walking to the parlor.
"So the idea is make yourself ready for the pain. Like when you get ready for a blow from a monster. Or in Percy's own case, a blow from Clarisse or Antiope during one of her training sessions." Alabaster said making Will and Ethan laugh
"Or from Manta when he attacks." Percy mumbled to herself
No one knew about Percy's extracurricular activities that she did with her brother and the Justice League. If they did, their worry would be never ending. Chiron and the gods would probably try and stop her from doing what she liked to do. Well, Ares would know better then to stop Percy thinking that the missions were like quests.
Alabaster was the only one of the group to get any type of piercings. Robert Torrington didn't really care what his son did in his spare time as long as Alabaster didn't die or get arrested. That's all he asked of his son. Even though almost dying is part of the job description when you're a demigod.
Ethan was too much of a wimp to get any body part pierced. He loved it when he was fighting monsters and people with his sword, but the the thought of needles scared the living shit out of him. There is a possibility that the son of Nemesis wouldn't even get a tattoo because of the artist's needle gun thingy.
Then they came up to a shop that said, "Mariana's piercing parlor" over head shinning brightly in different neon colors. Percy had a little trouble looking anywhere near the store because of the lights flashing over her head.
In the shop Percy and Will both picked rings that king of looked like arrows for all the piercings. Well, Percy did pick a set of diamond earrings as a piercing for each of her ears. She was a somewhat materialistic teenage girl after all.
She needed something pretty and shiny. And Percy was no exception to the rule of girls liking diamonds. Once the healing process was over, Percy was going to get a pair of earrings that had sea glass dangling from them.
In the tradition of lady's going first, Percy got her piercings in before Will had his put in. It did hurt a little, but Alabaster's advise and Percy's high pain tolerance helped her a little bit. And for Percy, her earrings and lip ring were a whole lot more noticeable than her eyebrow ring.
Her eyebrow ring was a lot smaller than the others. Percy couldn't stop looking at herself in the mirror. She was surprised about how she looked now. She wondered how her parents would react to this.
But Percy knew that Clark had signed the form when she asked to get the piercings last week. So he knew exactly what his daughter was getting into with going to the parlor.
When Will went everyone could see the tears swelling up in his blue eyes. The son of Apollo didn't really have the pain tolerance that his friend had. Hell, Will even didn't have the pain tolerance of his elder brother Roy.
The guy doing the piercings could not believe that the girl he did minutes before, was a whole lot more tougher then the kid that he was doing right now.
When Will was done, he looked in the mirror as well. He smiled brightly.
"Like what you see guys?" Alabaster asked this huge smile on his face
"Yeah." Will and Percy said in unison all giddy like
Ethan smiled and chuckled at the sight in front of him. He had loved his friends a lot. The group of four paid and left for the Solace house. They all kept talking and laughing on the way back.
Percy's curly shoulder length black and bright neon green hair that was tied back some was swooshing everywhere with the movements of her head. To the three boys she was with, her laughter was musical. Making them draw closer to her.
But they all knew it was the siren blood in her that was making her laugh like that. See, the more and more time Percy spends in Atlantis or on Themycira, Percy is tapping into her true heritage more and more.
When they all gotten back to the house, they agreed to sit on the chairs and swing that were on the porch and eat ice cream, drink a bunch of soda, listen to all the music they could handle music and talk. They wanted to be normal teenagers for once. They didn't need monsters or gods coming to them.
Especially Percy didn't need that on her mind. Her responsibilities to Atlantis and Themycira were challenging enough for her. She didn't need responsibilities to Olympus other demigods had.
There were times when Percy would hide under her sheets and would only be coxed out by Jason. The son of Jupiter knew what it was like to be in Percy's situation. He knew exactly how she felt. He knew how taxing being a child of the big three was.
They were both constantly being put into a leadership position that they had never even asked for. And they were given more quest then they could handle. They were always looked up too. Especially by the younger campers who wanted to idolize someone.
A seven year old Kayla Knowles, a child of Apollo, would alway follow Percy whenever they were at camp together. Kayla said that she wanted to be like her elder brother Roy Harper, Camp Half Blood's resident combat medic. And learning how to fight like Percy was step one.
Step two was to learn how to heal people like Lee and Will. After a few hours of just sitting and talking, the kids finally noticed that Bruce and Naomi had come back. Will went to hug his mother. Naomi hugged Percy as well.
"You four have fun?" Naomi asked
"Yes ma'am." All four said in unison while they nodded
"Now, did YOU have fun?" Percy asked with a cunning smile
This made Naomi blush. A thing she hadn't done since she dated Apollo. This made the kids go into a fit of middle school like hysterics. Even though they were in middle school.
But they were a whole lot smarter and so much more mature then the idiots that they went to school with. They all used their iPads (all their pad are set to Ancient Greek, had built in WiFi and were a gift from Hermes) to instant message each other because they were all bored. Especially when they all had study hall at exactly the same time.
There was even a day two months ago when they all put their headphones in, FaceTimed each other and spoke Greek to confuse their teachers. The teachers at Gotham academy, Metropolis Prep and Lincoln middle school were weirded out when their students all of a sudden started speaking a different language. Naomi turned to Bruce.
"I had a good time tonight." Naomi said
"So did I. I hope that we can do this again." Bruce said
"So do I."
Bruce took Naomi's hand and kissed the back of it causing Naomi to blush uncontrollably. Then Bruce turned to Percy.
"Want a ride home?" Bruce asked
Percy nodded to Bruce. The daughter of Poseidon said her goodbyes to Naomi and her friends, gathered her purse and other things and walked towards Bruce's rented red corvette convertible. The top was down and when the car started, Percy basically blasted the rock station.
As they were driving to the Kent house Bruce looked over to Percy. He turned down the AC/DC for a moment. It's was playing 'Highway To Hell'.
And funny enough, AC/DC was a group of a bunch of Apollo kids who were bored. And Highway To Hell was based on their friends journey to the underworld after dying on a quest. And the fact that's where they were going when they kicked the bucket.
"Did you really enjoy yourself?" Bruce asked as he tried so desperately to keep the car going in a straight line
"Yes I did Bruce. Why do you ask?" Percy said
"I just saw that you picked jewelry that focused on your ears and lips and away from your eyes. And I was wondering why." Bruce said
"I think they fit my personality better then if I chose something that went straight to my eyes." Percy said
"You got that right." Bruce said letting out a breathy chuckle
Bruce continued to drive to the other side of town as he and Percy talked more. Laughter had filled the air surrounding them. Jimmy Hendrix was playing on the cars radio. He was one of Apollo's favorite artists that was not one of his many children.
When Percy got home and entered the house she saw a blonde teenage girl, no older then her, sitting at the dining room table with her parents. She looked like how Clark described the girl in his dreams of Krypton.
Percy stood in her place shocked that there was a new person in her home that she hasn't ever seen before. Percy started to panic. She wasn't very good at meeting new people. That's was why she stayed the friend group that she has.
