She was too fucking thick to be this fucking cold!

Izumi stood in the center of her barrier; she had seen Shoto beat Itsuka with a similar glacier, the same method she had used on some of the large mechs at the start of the sports festival, so she had been ready.

She just didn't expect it to be so fucking cold.

With her jaw clattering, she grabbed her broom and let out a long shaky breath. She was going to have to blast way out of this.

XXXX

The lights continued to move inside the glacier, ranging in size, brightness, and even color as that 1-B Witch continued to do something inside of there. How had she been able to withstand his first blast? From what he understood of her quirk, speed wasn't her strong suit, and giving her time wasn't a good idea. That glacier should have been enough to finish anyone else off.

So how was she still moving inside?

Shoto felt his jaw shake as the cold started to get to him. He put too much into that attack. He needed to warm up. Just a bit of fire. Nothing more than normal. He placed a warm right hand along his arm, trying to remove the chunks of ice that had formed, and watched carefully.

If he attacked again, he'd only be adding more ice to the glacier, but that wouldn't change the fact that that 1-B Witch was still inside there. Doing something.

No. As much as he hated to admit it, he needed to wait for her to act and hope that she couldn't break out of there. There was a lot of ice.

The glacier bellowed. Cracks formed across its entire surface as it expanded like a great beast waking up from a long slumber. Expand, crack, contract, crumble, expand, crack, contract, crumble.

Shatter.

The glacier ruptured with the force of an arctic geyser, blasting him with both ice, heat, and wind as Izumi emerged from the glacier. Her long green hair was free from her ponytail and fluttered about her like a radiant halo, but her green eyes were livid and filled with an energy that nearly glowed. A glowing sphere rested in the palm of her hand that was sparkling like every star in the night sky.

With a single stroke of her broom, the myriad of stars shot towards him, spreading, flying, converging towards him like a swarm of malicious falling stars.

Too cold! He was too cold! His leg was numb as he tried to push away, so he had to abandon his evasion attempt and instead brought up his hand to form a barrier of ice. Most of the shooting stars sent chunks of the ice flying in every direction, but more than a few found him, snaking around the side and stabbing into his sides. Each one felt like a strong punch to the gut with enough force to send him back, but he was able to use his ice as a brake.

Damn.

How did she survive that first glacier? He needed to move fast.

He stumbled to the side, catching a glimpse of Izumi as she spun her staff around in the air, leaving streaks of light hanging there as she prepared another spell. A gigantic shooting star shot straight out of the symbols and flew towards him. Faster, larger, and brighter than her previous attack, this one was more like a shooting moon. He made another wall of ice just in time for it to be shattered, but Izumi's attack was barely impeded.

It was pure instinct.

His left side flared up, and a burst of his father's flames pushed him to the side while warming up his frozen right side, giving him just enough movement to dodge Izumi's attack.

She was already spinning her broom again. How many could she do back to back? Was there a pattern? What was coming his way now?

He wouldn't give her the chance!

With his right side still burning up, Shoto let out a wave of ice in the hope to get Izumi to have to dodge. She did, but her spell was still completed as she swung her broom wide in his direction. He had expected more of those shooting stars; instead, he found himself staring down a horizontal crescent that smashed through his own attack.

Again, a small burst of flame that sent his body up and over the strike saved him from taking the full brunt of her attack.

She had the advantage at long range, so he'd have to get in close and disrupt her drawing from there. He charged forward, using a bit of ice to speed himself up.

"Don't underestimate me!" Izumi shouted and charged at him, her feet leaving the ground as her broom pulled her forward.

Right.

She could fly.

He attempted to attack her from below with a wall of ice, but she simply went up and around it like it was nothing, her broom twirling to one side as she created a new pattern with her broom. What did this one do? Was it that barrier he saw earlier that stopped Katsuki? Or was it some new attack?

It was an attack. An attack with the broom itself. A jab to the stomach which hurt just as much as those little magic darts, but with more pushing power. The follow-up was quick as well, a sweep to the legs that would have sent him tumbling onto his back if he hadn't frozen his foot to the ground. He went to retaliate, the fire in his left palm inches from being thrown at her.

What was with this?

Why was he using his fire against her?

He shouldn't be using his fire ever! He would become the best hero ever with just his mother's quirk!

He caught a glimpse of her face, her sparkling green eyes, her wide cheerful grin, the way her hair flowed behind each of her attacks; she was enjoying this.

A glimmer drew his attention to her off hand where he saw those same runes as before glowing just on the edge of her fingertips. She didn't need the broom to cast spells. She could use her hands.

Both hands.

A shimmering band appeared around his upper arms, holding them in place, and a whack with her broom forced one arm to his side as the binding compressed.

Her spell could only restrict! It couldn't actually force his arms closed!

Why was she still smiling?

Why was he smiling!

Dammit!

This was just like with Inasa.

He didn't want to use his fire!

But, he didn't want to lose more!

From above, he held out a flaming right hand. He needed to end this fast! A roar escaped him as he pulled back his hand. Izumi's broom shot straight towards him, slamming into his stomach right as he unleashed a blast of fire.

A brief shimmer appeared in front of him as he saw Izumi finish drawing another one of her spells. His fire slammed against the nearly invisible barrier and was forced around him. He unleashed ice to combat the heat, and found that he was quickly becoming submerged in the tight space as his fire and ice combined to make a lukewarm water.

By the time the water had got to his chest, he had realized his mistake.

"Shoto!" Midnight called from the side. "Are you able to break out of there?"

Shoto glanced towards Izumi, her fingertips glowing and a wide smile on her face. Dammit. Why did it feel like he never even stood a chance? She even got him to use his father's fire and it still wasn't enough. He was still soundly beaten. He glanced towards Midnight and nodded.

"Winner by capture is Izumi Midoriya! Once again, her witchy arsenal shows us that she's got more than a few tricks up her sleeves! Honestly, Eraser, I thought your class was going to sweep this, but it looks like 1-B's still in the running."

"Hmm," Aizawa-sensei let out a low grown. "The drive to improve is not something unique to my class. From what I've gathered about Izumi, everything you're seeing now is the product of her own hard work combined with her willingness to ask others for help."

The sphere around him vanished and Shoto found himself falling along with the water onto the stadium floor. He almost landed on his feet, but ended up slipping on the slick icy ground.

Izumi's hand appeared in front of him. "Sorry about that, I should have told you I was releasing it."

He stared at her hand for a moment. He had heard Aizawa-sensei's words. Was asking for help really the difference between the two of them? He accepted her help and held her hand tightly. "Next time, I won't lose."

"That's great, but can you let go of my hand? You're like, really fucking cold."

"Oh," He let go of her hand and stared at her for a moment. Why did he like looking at her? "Sorry."

"Don't worry about it," She gave him a cheerful smile as she began to shiver. "Just don't hold back next time or else you'll lose again."

But he wasn't holding back, was he?

XXXX

Izumi took in a sip of hot chocolate, her hands still shaking from the biting cold of Shoto's ice. "So cold."

"Seriously," Itsuka drummed her fingers and looked at her with one orange eyebrow nearly fading into her hair. "You're acting worse than I did."

"I don't do cold!" Izumi kicked her legs on the ground and let out another shiver. She held the blanket tight around her shoulders and looked at her friends once more. "I'm all about the warm! Like summer! Or the pool! Or the hot springs! Or like, anytime I can wear a swimsuit! Like a bikini!"

She blinked and looked at Momo, who was currently blushing up a storm. Was she crossing boundaries? Was this social awareness? She moved slightly and found that Momo had wrapped her arms around her. Oh! She could say that was good! Momo was warm! "Besides, it's hard to show off my boobies when it's cold!"

Setsuna snorted, "Girl, really?"

"What?" Izumi whined and looked towards Setsuna, just in time to witness Setsuna's eyebrow floating a few inches off her skull. Honestly, when it came to people that abused their quirk, Setsuna was easily on the top of that list. And as soon as she got a flying license, she'd be on that list too! "Winter clothes are, like, so bulky and stuff."

"You'll have to forgive her," Momo let out a light chuckle that made Izumi's spine tingle from a bit of warmth. "She didn't think witches could be cute and sexy until Nejire and myself forced her to watch a bunch of anime."

Izumi blinked, and then looked at Itsuka. "Am I being dense again?"

Itsuka let out a long sharp laugh that ended with her slapping her own knee exactly once. "You have no idea."

Izumi pouted and hugged Momo tighter. "Well, then what am I missing about jackets?"

"Sweaters, Izumi, sweaters," Setsuna, tossed her hand and smacked Momo's sweater. "Please tell me you've ran around wearing a tight sweater around Izumi before."

"I have," Momo let out a long sigh, "But, you know how she is."

"Dense?"

"Self absorbed?"

"Completely unaware?"

"You guys!" Izumi kicked her legs and rocked the chair Momo and her were sharing. "You're picking on me again! What am I missing?"

Itsuka let out a long sigh and placed a hand on Momo's other shoulder. "Basically everything."

AN: Izumi is allowed to be OP because she's cute and thicc!

Also, I hope you all enjoyed Shoto's P.O.V. during this match, I figured it was a better way of doing the fight.
