Arnold and Helga make it downstairs into the kitchen.

Stella, Miles, Gerald, and Phoebe are sitting at a table with frowns on their faces.

Arnold:

Hey...what's wrong?

Why does everybody look so down?

Phoebe:

Patty is in the hospital.

Helga:

Fatty Patty? Give me a break.

Helga pulls a chair and sits down.

If anything, her victims should be in the hospital. Not her. I guess she finally met her match, perhaps?

I gotta meet this person.

Phoebe:

No, Helga.

(Sighs)

If you would actually have a nice conversation with her, you would know that she has a sensitive side.

She's in the hospital because her parents found cuts on her arms.

Helga:

Cuts?

Miles:

Bloody cuts. They seemed fresh, but she admitted that she has been cutting since fourth grade.

Stella:

I can't believe she went this long hiding them.

I'm glad it's out now.

Arnold:

How did you guys find that out?

Stella:

Her parents are friends with us.

We have their number. They gave us a call and told us the sad news.

She's doing just fine, Arnold.

Now that her parents know, they'll do whatever they can to make sure she doesn't cut again.

Her friends are there at the hospital with her.

Helga:

What a weakling.

Phoebe:

How can you possibly say that, Helga?

Gerald:

Yeah, that's way out of line to say.

Phoebe:

Everyone has their reasons to do certain things that may harm them. It's not right that Patty did what she did to herself, but we will never understand because we aren't her. We shouldn't judge her.

Arnold:

Phoebe's right.

How about we go see her?

(To Stella)

Mom, you said Patty's friends are there with her.

Can we go together to the hospital, please?

Stella:

Sure, but me and your father are driving you kids.

It's far too dangerous out there and we'll stop at the store to get Patty some flowers and get well cards!

Stella and Miles drives in late grandpa Phil's car with the kids in the back seat.

Helga is sitting on Arnold's lap, who is feeling the pain from her weight.

They arrive at the hospital after going to the stores and are told the room to Patricia Smith.

Arnold sees all her parents and friends, which includes Lila, Rhonda, Nadine, Sheena, and more.

There were balloons near Patty and gifts such as flowers, cards, toys, and more.

Patty sees Arnold, his friends, and his parents.

She smiles at them.

Patty:

You guys made it.

This isn't particularly a happy gathering , but I'm still glad to see everyone is here.

Including you, Helga.

Helga ignores Patty with her arms folded and looking off to the side.

Arnold walks closer to Patty, who is laying in the hospital bed.

Arnold:

Here, these are for you. Me , my family, and friends hope you like them.

Arnold hands over the cards and flowers to Patty.

Patty:

Thanks.

Arnold:

We'll be sure to tell your teachers that you won't be able to come to school this week.

Mrs. Smith:

You're such a dear, Arnold. We already called the school to inform them about Patty. I heard you and your parents just recently returned from San Lorenzo. How was it?

Arnold:

It was great, Mrs. Smith.

(To Patty)

Patty, do you need any of us to stay overnight with you?

Patty:

No need, Arnold. Thank you.

I shouldn't be in the hospital for long, but I'll be staying home for this week during school.

Arnold looks around the room and doesn't see Harold, Sid, Stinky, or Curly.

This makes him angry.

Arnold:

Where's Harold, Sid, Stinky, and Curly?

Everybody is here except for them.

I don't understand. They weren't at school today and now they aren't showing up for Patty.

Helga:

Arnold...

Patty:

Mom, dad, can you step out of the room for a minute, please?

Mr and Mrs. Smith nod their heads to Patty and exits the room.

(To Helga)

Don't you or anyone else tell Arnold about what happened to them.

Helga:

You know what? Let me get out of here before I knock the girl dead.

Helga exits the room and slams the door on her way out.

Patty:

Who are you talking to??

Says Patty to Helga, who already had left the room.

Arnold:

Please, Patty. I don't understand. Were you not close with Harold?

Phoebe:

They did date, then broke up while you were away in San Lorenzo.

Arnold:

I didn't know that, but even more so..

(To Patty)

Why isn't Harold and the others here?

Patty:

Arnold. None of us are ready to tell you what happened last year.

Arnold:

What happened?? Just tell me already.

Everybody has been acting funny and quiet regarding last year.

Whatever they did...what ever happened...I won't judge them for it. I promise.

Phoebe:

Arnold...don't promise.

You'll have lots of questions and you wouldn't hold your anger.

Arnold:

Is it that bad?

Patty:

(To Phoebe)

NO! Don't say more.

(To Arnold)

Especially that Helga...I have a gut feeling she'll blab it all to you, Arnold.

She's bad news.

I don't want you hurt over what happened and you're a good friend, Arnold, which means...if Helga bullies you, you call me and I'll fix her for you.

Arnold:

I know your intentions are good. You want to protect me, but at least tell me this...are they okay?

Harold, Stinky? All of them.

Please.

No one answers Arnold.

Everyone just looks down.

Arnold sighs.

Stella:

How about we head home, huh, Arnold?

Arnold nods to Stella.

Arnold:

I wish you well, Patty.

(To everyone)

Have a safe night everyone.

Stella and Miles exit the room with Arnold, Phoebe, and Gerald following behind.

Helga sees them.

Helga:

About time, football head.

How did it go in there?

Fat with cuts as expected?

They start talking as they walk.

Arnold:

If you were in there, then maybe you'd know.

Helga:

Okay, salty.

Arnold:

Sorry, Helga.

It's just I am still clueless about Harold, Stinky, Sid, and Curly's whereabouts and exactly what happened last year.

It's starting to annoy me and Patty seems to have everyone agreeing to not tell me.

Helga:

Sheeee maaAy HaVe pOsSibLy...threaten the entire neighborhood to not tell you—

Arnold:

What?!

Helga:

She's just trying to protect you, hair-boy.

Oh.."hair-boy" really suits you well now considering that your hair gotten even longer since forth grade and...

Helga holds in her laugh.

You look like a girl and all!

Helga starts to laugh and point at Arnold.

Arnold makes an annoyed look at Helga.

Gerald:

She ain't wrong. I kind of agree.

Arnold:

Thanks, Gerald.

Phoebe:

(To Helga)

Immature!

Stella and Miles with the kids exit the hospital and enter inside their car.

Once again, Helga sat on Arnold's lap with him holding in the pain of her weight.

Arnold:

Please, can you switch with Phoebe?

Helga:

Nah. I enjoy your suffering and your warmth.

Says Helga with a grin.

They arrive back to the boarding house, Arnold's home.

They get out the car and enter the boarding house.

The kids go upstairs to Arnold's room.

Helga:

Alright, who's taking a shower first?

I call going last.

Phoebe:

I guess, I'll go.

Phoebe takes her clothes out her bag and exits the room.

In the meantime, Helga takes out her console and small TV set.

Arnold and Gerald watches Helga put together her game.

She places her headphones on and sticks a sucker in her mouth.

She begins to play aggressively and dead focus on the tv screen.

Zombies begin getting shot.

Arnold and Gerald have never seen a video game so violent before.

They still hear the sound from Helga's headphones.

Arnold:

How loud does she have it up to?

Gerald:

I have no idea, but Phoebe tells me she turns into a beast if you disturb her during serious battles.

I'm surprised she isn't fazed by the shooting considering—

Gerald stops himself from saying more.

Arnold notices.

Arnold:

Considering what?

Gerald:

Nothing.

Arnold:

I'm not stupid. You were about to say something regarding shooting, Gerald.

Gerald:

And I forgot!

Arnold:

Whatever you say, Gerald.

A couple minutes passed as Gerald and Arnold play board games with each other and Helga continued to play video games.

Phoebe returns from her shower in her pjs.

Gerald takes his shower.

Arnold shows his pet ants to Phoebe while Helga is still gaming.

Soon Gerald returns in his pjs.

Arnold takes his shower while Phoebe and Gerald watch videos together on their phones.

Helga still gaming...

When Arnold returns in his pjs, Helga quits gaming and gathers her clothes.

Helga:

(In her mind)

I can't believe I'm going into Arnold's shower right after him!

What a dream.

(Sighs)

Helga finishes her shower and places her pjs on, but she isn't quite done out of the bathroom.

Gerald:

Man, what is taking Helga so long?

Phoebe:

Good thing we taken our showers before her.

Arnold:

Maybe she just likes to take long showers.

Inside Arnold's bathroom, Helga is dancing with Arnold's toothbrush and she gives it a kiss.

She opens his cabinet and sees his shampoo.

Helga:

My, my, my, what a delightful shampoo you are!

Helga looks down at Arnold's toothbrush that's still in her hand.

Helga, girl, this is your first time inside Arnold's bathroom with his permission. Do what you know you won't be able to do again.

Helga grabs the toothpaste, places it on Arnold's toothbrush and begins brushing her teeth with it.

When she's done, she gently and carefully placed it back where it belongs and leaves the bathroom.

She returns to Arnold's room and sees that everyone has fallen asleep.

Gerald and Phoebe are sleeping in their own sleeping bags next to each other while Arnold is sleeping in his bed with the pink book in his hands.

Helga smiles at the sight.

Instead of sleeping, she climbs up to the ceiling and enters up the roof.

She sits and watches the stars to feel safe and secure.
