After they all take turns brushing their teeth, washing their face, and getting dressed, the kids run down stairs to the kitchen and see breakfast is already prepared for them.
They hurry and eat their breakfast and Stella and Miles wave goodbye to them.
As they exit the boarding house, Stella and Miles watch the kids run to catch the bus.
Helga:
Race ya, butt-heads!
Helga starts to run first and then Phoebe, Gerald, and Arnold starts to run behind her.
They all make it to the bus and pay their fees.
Helga starts pushing kids off to the side until she looks up and sees Patty.
Helga:
Patty...heh heh...what are you doing taking the bus to school? You're back so soon.
Arnold:
Patty! You're back.
Says Arnold with a bright smile.
Bus Driver:
Are ya kids statues?! TAKE YOUR SEATS.
Helga, Arnold, Gerald, and Phoebe find their seats near Patty.
The bus starts to take off.
Arnold:
I'm glad you're back!
What happened to staying at home for a week?
Helga:
Yeah, what happened?
Helga asked with an attitude.
Patty:
I have a reputation to live up to.
I gotta show that I'm tough. I've been cutting and going to school at the same time before, so what difference does it make even if my parents now knows?
Phoebe:
But you're not going to cut again, right?
Patty:
No, and I would like to apologize to you all about that.
Cutting isn't something I should do to heal my trauma.
Cutting myself caused others to worry about me and pity me. That's the last thing I want.
Helga:
Don't worry, sister. I will never pity you.
Helga sits back in her seat with her arms folded.
Arnold:
Great! And Patty if you want, you can come over to my place after school. You can sleepover. We'll do homework together and...and—
Patty:
That's okay, Arnold. I'm fine walking home by myself and besides...there's a wrestling match I have against someone I really wanna compete against. I have my own training equipment at home. You understand, right?
Arnold:
Of course, Patty. I'm glad you're still doing the things you love and I hope you win.
Helga:
"And I hope you win!"
Helga says in a mocking voice.
Makes me barf.
Helga turns her body towards the window and covers her ears.
Phoebe looks over to Helga and mutters...
Phoebe:
Immature.
Arnold:
Gerald, I have a feeling that today is going to be a great day.
The kids are settled into their second period class and are bored out their minds from doing algebra.
Gerald side eyes Arnold.
Gerald:
And you said today was going to be a great day.
Helga shoots a spit ball at Arnold's head, who turns around to look at her.
Helga looks up with her hands clenched together as a halo appears above her head.
Arnold turns his attention back to the chalk board filled with algebra problems.
Helga:
Man, this class is ass.
Even Mr. Foster thinks so.
(In her mind)
Oh, clock, go faster!
Let time zoom so I can go by Arnold's house again today.
Mr. Foster is sleeping in his chair to his desk.
Suddenly, Principle Lee enters the class abruptly.
Mr. Foster jumps out his chair.
Principle Lee:
Mr. Foster, I'm very sorry to be barging in like this, but I'm telling all the teachers this news.
There have been several students here , who have been caught selling and doing drugs.
I have sent the police to our school to check every bag and locker that belongs to a registered student here at P.S. 119 high school.
I'm very disappointed in the students that were caught and I would be extremely disappointed if the police find more!
Mr. Foster:
That's really sad news.
I wonder how their parents must be feeling.
Principle Lee exits the class in a hurry.
All the students begin to murmur among each other.
Rhonda:
I wonder who could possibly be so dumb to sell drugs around the school? If I find out that any of my friends are even doing drugs or associated with drug dealers, they are soooo not invited to any of my parties.
Rhonda says while looking at herself in her pocket mirror.
Phoebe places her head on her desk and groans.
Phoebe:
I can already sense that this year will be just as bad as last year.
It's only the beginning.
Helga places her hand on Phoebe's arm.
Helga:
Don't be scared, Phoebe.
With Arnold coming back, his arrival should be a sign of this year not being so bad after all.
Phoebe lifts up her head with her glasses being crooked on her face.
Phoebe:
Didn't you hear, Helga?
Drugs are being traded, sold...in or around our school!
We just started here and it's already starting out bad.
Drugs are a big deal.
Those students that have been caught will be spending some time in jail.
Helga:
Well, it's none of us.
We're only freshman .
We are fresh meat in this school.
We don't know any big shots that could give us drugs.
I betcha it's those seniors.
Yeah, I be seeing those snotty, tit sagging, Ruth McDougal clones walking down the hall as if they got more money than Rhonda!
They are probably running the whole drug deal game.
Mr. Foster:
Alright, class. Settle down!
Arnold notices Gerald sitting very quietly.
Gerald is staring into space .
Arnold:
Uh, Gerald, are you okay?
What do you think about all of this?
Gerald doesn't look at Arnold.
He has a blink look on his face the entire time.
He slowly stands up from his desk and carries his bag.
Everyone becomes silent and watch Gerald leave.
Mr. Foster:
Gerald! You can't leave. The police have to come and check every student's bag.
Gerald ignores Mr. Foster and walks to the Principle office.
No one heard from Gerald since.
The police arrived and check every bag and locker.
Arnold's class was cleared , but there was still no sign of Gerald.
Lunch and break had quickly arrived.
Phoebe, Arnold, Helga, Rhonda, Nadine, Sheena, Eugene, Park, and Robert are all sitting next to each other at the same table.
Phoebe:
Where's Gerald?? The police still being here without him makes me nervous!
Arnold:
He's not in any of the bathrooms in school.
We all checked everywhere.
He didn't seem like himself after the mention of drugs in Algebra class.
I can't believe he just walked out and left.
Sheena:
I certainly hope he's alright!
Rhonda:
Totes! But it'll make a great story if Gerald is part of the drug problem around here.
Phoebe slams her hands on the table.
Phoebe:
NO HE'S NOT AND YOU BETTER NOT SPREAD THAT MISINFORMATION AROUND OR I WILL —
Rhonda:
Or you will what?
Not finish my homework for this week?
Oooo , I'm so scared.
Arnold:
Cut it out!
Gerald wouldn't want us fighting and neither do I.
Look, we just need to calm down and think of places outside of school that Gerald would go to.
Helga:
Maybe Tall Hair Boy went to that vacant lot or shooting some basketball somewhere. I don't know.
Nadine:
The Coco Hut?
Helga:
Wait, wait. What was that guy he always mentioned , but we never seen?
Arnold:
Uh...Fuzzy Slippers?
Helga:
Yeah, him. We never seen him before. Maybe Gerald went to him for something.
Phoebe;
Yeah...maybe he did.
Principal Lee walks in the cafeteria.
Principal Lee:
I am here to inform you all that Gerald Martin Johanssen will not be returning here at P.S. 119 high school. He has turned himself in to me about being the ring leader to the drugs around our school.
Everyone gasps.
Arnold:
What??
That can't be.
Principal Lee:
I'm afraid so, Arnold.
Arnold:
But there's gotta be some mistake!
Phoebe:
Gerald knows better!
Cries Phoebe with tears running down her eyes.
Helga hugs Phoebe, who turns and cries on her.
Principal Lee:
I'm sorry, but there hasn't been no mistake.
I know you kids knew him since preschool, but now you all are growing up and learning new things.
Unfortunately for Gerald, he went down the wrong path and has finally been caught.
Rhonda starts texting fast on her phone.
She reads her text out loud to herself.
Rhonda:
This just in, my classmate, Gerald Martin Johanssen, has been caught being the ring leader of providing drugs around our school.
Talk about total shocker.
Phoebe stands up from the table and runs out the cafeteria.
Helga:
(To Phoebe)
Pheebs—
(To Rhonda)
Criminy! Look here, Jezebel, you and your phone is about to get clapped!
Rhonda:
Stop using your cringey gaming words at me.
Your loser friend is dating a drug dealer and he's now going to be sent to a juvenile prison.
Phoebe is just going to have to find someone else to date .
(Looks to Arnold)
Oh, look...
how about you, Arnold?
Helga growls at Rhonda.
She stands up abruptly.
Helga:
Okay. That's it. You're dead.
Helga takes her tray and smashes it in Rhonda's face.
Food is all over her face and she falls back from off the table.
She screams as soon as Helga starts punching her in the face.
Arnold, Lila, Nadine, Sheena, and the other students try breaking them up.
Mr. Foster enters the cafeteria in a hurry.
Mr. Foster:
What is going on here??
Principal Lee:
You're a new and young teacher here, Mr. Foster.
Just let them have their fight.
I promise, you don't want to be part of it.
Just go get the nurse.
Principal Lee exits the cafeteria along with Mr. Foster, who rushes to get a nurse.
Pure chaos is unleashed with Helga now being thrown across the room by Patty.
Rhonda:
Yes, Patty! Please, help me. She started punching me for no reason.
Says Rhonda with a black eye.
Patty:
(To Helga)
Fight me instead, Pataki. How about you fight someone your own size??
Arnold:
NO! THAT'S ENOUGH FIGHTING!
Helga slowly gets back on her feet and wipes her mouth.
Helga:
Fat bitch, go look in a fucking mirror. No one here IS your size!
And you know what, maybe I should tell Arnold everything that happened last year. Huh??
Maybe that could be the reason NOW that you should fight me.
Patty runs to Helga, who throws a chair at her.
The chair breaks as soon as it lands on Patty.
Patty isn't fazed by the chair and perfectly tackles Helga down.
They give each other equally painful punches that cause each other to bleed.
Their hair and outfit becomes messed up.
Before Patty can land a huge punch to Helga's face, Arnold steps in the middle of them.
Arnold:
JUST STOP!
Arnold gets hit by Patty , who meant to hit Helga.
Arnold falls back with Helga catching him.
He's unconscious.
Helga:
Arnold!
Patty stands back in guilt.
She looks at her clenched hands that she slowly opens up.
Patty:
I-I'm sorry, Arnold. How could I—
Helga has Arnold's head on her lap as blood comes from out her nose and drips onto his face.
She looks up at Patty.
Helga:
You are just a waste of life. A fucking HUGE mistake!
(Turns to everyone)
She does this to everyone!
And poor Arnold... he didn't even do anything to her.
Patty backs away more and more.
She looks around to see that everyone is showing faces of disappointment and fear.
Patty runs out of the cafeteria.
Arnold is taken to the nurse.
