Chapter 5: One Last thing

Ben pov

It has been several weeks since Ben had arrived on berk, and so far it was great.

Granted he had to stay in dragon form the whole time bit it did not matter, the people of berk had treated him well enough.

He had not revelled that he was a talking dragon, that information was kept between Hiccup, his father, Gobber and the rest of the riders who had heard him talk.

In all this time, ben had stayed in his dragon form for all this time, and he started to notice that his perception of time was sped up, even though it was several weeks since he had gotten there it had felt like barely a week had passed.

Ben could only wonder if this was a side affect as living in his dragon form for so long, he knew that they lived for very, very long.

it was today that he was with the rest of the dragons and their riders, they were watching Snotlout repeatedly fail to lunch a sheep in the air and hit a marked target.

The young Vikings were now talking about this sport they invented using their dragons… dragon racing they called it, and they agued on who actually invented it and came up with the rules.

Despite himself, Ben had found himself to be extremely intrigued with the story, and he even laughed a few times during their recap of it.

But eventually, it was found out that to everyone's surprise, it was tuffnut who invented the sport, since he was the only one who actually took the time to come up and write down the rules, never mind that he cheated by the rules he came up with.

Ben now really wanted to try his hand in this new sport, the only down side was that he needed a rider.

In his time there, Gobber had made him a saddle that had fitted the base of his neck and just above his back. It was made out of quality leather, and he would sometimes take Gobber, Hiccup or even Stoick to a flight, but for this race, there was a rule of no switching dragons, and Ben was not comfortable with a new rider on his back.

While the riders were busy painting war colors on their dragons and themselves, he heard something that had gotten his attention, he had looked at the other dragons to see if any of them had heard anything as well but saw that they didn't.

He had chucked it up to it probably being his figment of imagination, but just in case, he had decided to go and check it out.

He had gotten up from the spot he laid down, stretched his wings and started to fly off, not noticing the mess he was making with the backdraft making the bowls of paint all over the arena.

He was flying around the island, and on his way he saw many Viking preparing the course the dragons would need to fly through.

Then he heard the sound again, it was a high peached, almost whistle like sound. Ben had tilted his head to find it's source.

It didn't take him long to do so, and he had landed in a clear part of the Forrest surrounding the village of berk, kicking up a dust cloud in the process.

It was at this point that ben had saw two figures moving from the shadows towards him, as soon as he saw them though his dragonish face had broken to a massive smile.

"Professor paradox! Brook! Oh, it is so good to see you guys again."

Rook had looked him up and down until finally asking, "Ben? Oh my… I am so glad to see you that you are well!" he finishes by running towards ben and hugging his right leg, while Paradox is coming towards him and say, "yes Benjamin, it is good to see you as well."

After rook had let him go he had looked at him again and asked, "I see you have unlocked a new alien form, what do you call this one?"

"Salamancer."

The Revonnahgander just gave him a small look and then said "a fitting name."

Then Ben had looked at the both of them and he realized something, "wait, does that mean I am going home now?"

The professor answered, "not yet, while taking you with us is preferable, your sudden despatcher would make ripples in this time line that would make some unfortunate results."

Both Ben and rook had looked at him and ben had asked, "so what can I do? It's not like I can just tell them that I need to get back home to my own…. Time, or even dimension."

"well… maybe not, but what about this….?"

Back at the dragon arena

Hiccup and the others were cleaning up the mess that Salamanser had left behind him when he suddenly flew off, he was washing toothless messed up paint when he decided to shake all from him.

"Hey! Hey! Toothless!" to that the night fury made a sound similar to that of laughter, hiccup just said, "Bud… I know this is funny to you but we need to finish cleaning, before having to repaint our war colors."

Astrid then said, "wish Salamancer didn't made such a mess, and right before the dragon race. Do you think he'll be back?"

Hiccup didn't know what to say to her, but it was at that moment that he didn't had to, since right then and there they heard the massive flapping of wings that by now had became the signal that Salamanser was coming down towards them, this time however he was more gentle and didn't made such a mess, even though some stuff had started to fly off.

Hiccup just looked at him and ran towards him calling out, "Salamancer! Where have you been? And why did you take off like the way you did?"

Seeing how he made them worry about him, the alien dragon had felt bad about it. But before he could respond he had felt someone jump off of his back and unto the ground next to him.

Hiccup seeing this had asked with a defensive voice, "and who is this?" unbeknownst to them, it was ben alien partener, only he wore an I.D mask that made him look more human, his skin was tan looking with a more human looking face and instead of orange, his eyes were colored blue and his hair was black, he wore clothing that looked like it came from a far away place and yet not futuristic.

"guys, I want you to meet Rook Blanco, my partner." Hiccup's facial expression was turned to that of shock and then he asked, "wait, wait, is that your rider?"

Ben could see the mix up, but chose against correcting it and just replied with, "yes, we were separated a little before I came here."

Then rook had stepped forward and said, "Rook Blanco," he reached his hand forward and said, "a pleasure to meet you all." Hiccup had taken his hand and shook it, but for some unexplainable reason, it felt furry in his hand.

"Hiccup Haddock, at your service… your dragon did not mention he had a rider… at all."

Luckily for Ben, Rook had a sharp mind and took over things quickly.

"Yes… well you see… Salamancer and I were fighting an enemy of mine, on the battle we had gotten separated, so he followed an emergency plan that we made for a time like that, and that is not to mention that he has a rider."

Rook had told that with such conviction, that even Ben almost had bought into that bluff.

But hiccup had bought into it, and he said, "sooo… I take you guys will leave us, and go back to your home?" to their surprise, Ben had shaken his head saying, "well… normally we would have, but… after telling my partner here about your annual tradition… we have both decided that we have one last thing to do here in Berk…"

At hearing that, Hiccup and perked up and asked him in a challenging tone, "oh yeah? And what's that?"

At that Rook had simply stated, "I believe you would phrase it… kick your back side at dragon racing…?" he finished with a half smile and Hiccup just said, "it's 'kick your butt' and it's so on!"

He finished as he and the other had ran to color their dragons in war paints, Fishlegs had ran towards Ben with two bowls of paints and said, "sorry, that is what has been left."

Looking down at the bowls, Ben saw that they were of black and white, and that gave him an idea that made him smirk.

"Don't worry Fishlegs, We can work with this." He said to the husky Viking.

after he had left, he had turned to his partner and said, "ok rook, this is what is about to happen…"

later at the dragon race

the crowd had gathered at the stans, ready for the race to begin.

They had all started to cheer when they saw Stoick steppes out and say, "greeting to you all, people of Berk! It is my outmost pleasure to announce Berk's fifth annual dragon race!"

The crowd of Viking had cheered even louder at hearing that. But then it was interrupted when Gobber had came to Stoick to whispered something in his ear, everyone had gotten quiet at seeing his expression change, from those of excitement, to confusion and to even more excitement.

He finally faced them and said, "it appears that a new contestant had entered the race, you all know of Salamancer, the newest dragon among us. Well, he and his NEW rider Rook Blanco are joining us at the race this year, what do you say?"

Everyone had cheered loudly, especially when Ben and the other dragons had shown up.

Ben's war colors were on his wings and his forehead, on his wings, a black hourglass was drawn, with the natural green making it look like the Omnitrix while four whit lines on the side had made reminiscent of the original design, while on his forehead he had a t drawn from his brows all the way to his snout.

Rook didn't wear any colors, and Hiccup and the gang had let him get away with it, seeing as he wasn't comfortable wearing them.

Gothi had a flag in the air, while Chief Stoick called out and said, "Dragon riders! On your mark! Get set! Go!" he finished and Gothi had dropped the flag, and all of the Dragons just jumped at that and flew to the air.

Ben had felt Rook's grip on his saddle, it was due to his cat like reflexes that he didn't fell off.

Ben and toothless were at the lead, and hookfang right on their tale,. Ben had flipped in the air and also did a barrel roll and folded his wing when he went in between two beams, rook then had shouted in his ear, "I was hesitant at first, but this is the most fun I had in years!" Ben just laughed and continued to fly and catch the first sheep.

It was eventually a win to Hiccup and toothless, with Ben and rook at close second. Astrid and stormfly came in third.

After the race, Ben and rook had gathered at the arena, and hiccup had looked at them and said, "I guess… this is goodbye, isn't it?"

Ben had nodded his head and said, "I'm afraid so."

"will.. will we ever see you again someday?"

Ben had shook his head and said, "I'm afraid not, you see, we leave in a place verry, verry far away, so it is verry unlikely that you'll see us again."

Then Rook had turned towards Hiccup and extended his hand and said, "thank you for taking care of my partner when I couldn't."

Hiccup, gladly took it and said, "it was no trouble at all, your dragon had helped us a lot, have a safe journey."

"thank you." He then proceeded to jump on Ben's back and said, "let us go home Salamancer."

Ben, without further prompting, flapped his massive wings and flew towards the ocean, and increased his speed with each flap of his wings, until eventually, they had left the archipelago behind them.

They had stopped at one of the uninhabited islands outside of the archipelago, Rook had jumped off of Ben's back, and ben finally tapped the omnitrix on his chest and said, "omnitrix, disengage life form lock, code 1010, user Benjamin Tennyson."

As soon as he uttered the last words, a flash of green had engulfed him and he was back in his old human body again, and of course the first thing he did was sniff himself and go, "ugh, I am happy to be in my human body again, but I have to shower. Bad."

Before he could continue however, rook had hugged him and said, "you had us all worried." He then let him go and suddenly a portal appears behind them and they hear a voice, "and right on time, as usual."

They turned and saw the form of paradox leaves the portal, and he had turned towards them and said, "now I believe it is time for you to return home, my dear Benjamin."

And they walked Into the portal.

Plumber satellite base.

It was a second after paradox and Rook had left, and another portal was opened right Infront of them, and out stepped Rook, Paradox and of course, Ben.

Max immediately ran to hug his grandson, who was coughing and saying, "grandpa! Air!"

The old plumber had let him go, and then his nose was crunched up when he noticed the smell and he said, "oh wow, where have you been?"

'you wouldn't believe me if I told you."

Later

After letting everybody know what had happened to him, Ben finally went to go in the shower, but after he had left he remembered something, he remembered of how he felt when he saw hiccup and Astrid together.

So he went to his phone, picked it up and dialed a number.

After several rings, a female voice had picked up on the other side, and asked, "hello?"

"hi kai, it's Ben, listen I am calling because I have a proposition for you. How about we'll go on a road trip, in outer space?"

The end
