"Jack? What are you doing out here?" Connie asked, walking through the half open door to find her son and the dogs outside in the front. "I heard yelling and barking." She said, then noticed Sunny. "Is Sue here already?"
Jack slowly shook his head. "No, Sunny never left."
"Oh? Did she spend the night?"
"In a way."
She walked closer analyzing her son. "There's something you're not telling me."
He paused, a war inside fighting between what to tell and what not to tell. One side wanted to tell her everything, the other wanted to keep it his secret, rescue Sue and live happily ever after, no one none the wiser. Knowing the latter was only in movies, he decided to tell her. "Sue's been kidnapped."
"What?" She exclaimed. "What happened?"
He shook his head as he herded the dogs back into the house. "Don't know."
"Well, are you going to find her?" Connie asked.
"Of course. First call I'll make is to a forensics team. Don't touch the car."
"Of course." She replied, helping him get the dogs inside, then looked at him as she closed the door. "Does this have to do with what you've been obsessed with this week?"
He closed his eyes, swallowed, then nodded. "Yes."
Not knowing what to say, she just stared at her son.
?-?
Bobby groaned as he sleepily reached for his phone from his bed. "Who's calling me this early." He grumbled, then answered. "Hello."
"Hi, it's Jack. Can you come over here?"
"Already? It's 5AM!" He exclaimed, sitting up and looking at his bedside clock.
"Sue's been kidnapped."
He paused, not believing he heard him right. "I must be losing it. Did you say Sue's been kidnapped?" He asked, now fully awake.
"Yeah." He replied. "It was Kevin. We need to figure out where he took her."
"I'll be there as soon as I dress and get some food." Bobby replied, getting out of bed and fumbling in the dim light as he looked for some clothes.
"Thanks." Jack replied, then hung up.
?-?
Connie empathetically looked at her son. It was 10 hours before his wedding, his bride was missing and he was in full-on FBI mode, making phone calls and researching on his computer. To an ordinary person, it looked like he didn't care, but she knew better. This was his way to stay sane; his way to help. "Jack, honey, why don't you sit down? You've been running around for the past hour. You haven't even changed. The forensics team is here. Bobby is here. They will let you know if they find anything."
He shook his head. "I can't. I need to find her."
"I know, but you can't be a one-man FBI agent!"
He slightly smiled. "I know, Mom. I just can't help it."
She nodded. "I understand. Can we help in any way?" She asked, waving to his family that was behind her.
"Uh," he replied, looking at them. "I need to go with the forensics team when they're done, so I need you guys to stay here and be lookouts, OK?"
"Like FBI agents?" Emily asked.
Jack chuckled at his niece. "Yes. You're all deputy Special Agents today."
"Is that even a thing?" John asked.
Jack lifted up his hands and shrugged. "Who knows. But you are." Just then, one of the forensics specialists came by to notify Jack that they were leaving. He nodded to him, then turned back to his family. "Call me if you find anything."
Bill nodded. "Of course."
With that, Jack turned to go upstairs, quickly changed into some normal clothes, then left. He sighed as he drove to the office. "Please, God. Let me find her, safe."
?-?
Sue opened her eyes and squinted at the bright light shone into her face. After a few seconds, her eyes adjusted a bit and she was able to just make out the shadows of things around her. She herself was tied to a chair in a small room. She saw one widow, but it was blocked out, only a thin line of light shining through, highlighting the outline of the window.
As she was analyzing the room, she saw movement, which made her focus on it. It was a man, ultimately coming into the light. He evilly smiled at her. "Why, hello there. I was wondering when you were going to wake up. Boy, that chloroform sure does the trick."
She glared at him. "Who are you? What do you want?"
His smile grew wider. "You don't know?" He paused, to which Sue didn't give an answer. "My intention is to ruin your day. I'm just waiting on my partner to come here with the tools needed, then we will get on with it." He continued.
"On with what?"
The man chuckled. "Boy, Jack was marrying an inquisitive one. Too bad he won't be able to. You'll just have to wait and see what fun I have planned for you. This time will work. No one will stop it, no one will survive." With that, he left the room through a door in the corner.
Sue tried to see what was through the door, but it was almost as dark out there as it was in here. The door closed, then she felt a rumble, like something scraping the floor. Alone in her thoughts, she frowned as she tried to think about the last thing she remembered. She remembered saying goodnight to Jack, she and Sunny walking to her car, opening the door, Sunny hopping in, then nothing. Wait, maybe something. A struggle, maybe? She wasn't sure. All she hoped was that Sunny was OK. "This time will work?" She whispered to herself, trying to figure out the meaning. She tried to think of anything that the man could've meant when he said she should know him, then thought of the week prior, slightly smiling. "Kevin." She assuredly replied to herself, now knowing exactly who she was dealing with. The smile disappeared when she thought of the last times they had dealt with his schemes. Were they not more witty than him, they would've all been gone several times over. She cringed to think what kind of foolproof scheme he thought up this time. "Dear God," she prayed. "Please. Let Jack find me."
