"Where's Omar Cole?" Jack demanded as he and Bobby walked into the police station, showing his badge to the receptionist at the front counter.
Startled by the outburst, the woman quickly looked at her computer. "It's Detective Kendall's case. One moment." She said, still staring at her computer as she stood up.
"I hope they didn't screw it up." Bobby said as the woman disappeared into the back of the station.
Jack glared at his friend. "Don't you dare say that."
"This is Detective Kendall." The woman said, a man following behind her as she came into the entrance area of the station.
"Are you the FBI agents I was supposed to lose paperwork for?" Detective Kendall asked.
Jack nodded. "Yep. Jack Hudson, Bobby Manning." He said, pointing to himself, then Bobby.
"Is he still here?" Bobby anticipatedly asked.
Detective Kendall nodded. "Mmhmm. And you'll never guess what we found in his car."
"What?" Jack asked, fearing the absolute worst; a body.
"Since we didn't have probable cause, we only could see through the window, but what we can see in the back seat is a chain saw and a TENS unit. What a weird combination!" He exclaimed.
Jack breathed a sigh of relief. But what was he planning with those two things? There was no way it was anything good.
"We have him in an interrogation room. Come with me." Detective Kendall said, then led them back.
"That's him?" Bobby asked, seeing a nervous, wimpy looking man through the one-way mirror.
Jack shrugged. "He must just be a gofer. Getting things, doing things, assisting Kevin to ensure his evil plan succeeds."
He nodded in reply. "Let's hope he knows at least something." He said, then walked into the interrogation room, Jack trailing behind.
The nervous-looking man looked at the door when he heard it open. "Wh-who are you?"
"Your worst nightmare; FBI." Bobby announced, holding his badge up for him to see.
"What do you want from me?"
Jack sat down across from him. "We want your friend, Kevin."
"Who?"
"Don't play with us. We know all about it, your bragging on social media, too. Bobby replied.
Omar looked from one to the other. There was no way out. He sighed. "I don't know where he is, exactly." He quietly said. It was almost so quiet, if it weren't for seeing his lips move, nether agent would have thought he spoke.
Feeling sincerity in his quiet utterance, Jack softened his tone, even though his insides were screaming. "If you know anything that could help us, we'll be sure to mention it to the guys outside."
Bobby looked at his friend in amazement, shocked that he could keep his calm so well when his fiancé is who knows where with a known felon. He knew he couldn't keep half his calm if it was Darcy. It was hard enough with Sue!
"I, I was supposed to bring the chain saw and TENS unit to a specific parking lot, then call Kevin and wait for him to pick them up." Omar said.
"What parking lot?" Bobby interjected.
"The one on MacArthur Boulevard, by the Exxon station."
The two agents looked at each other. "By the reservoir." Jack surmised.
Omar nodded. "He's somewhere there."
"What do you say if you call him and tell him that you'll be there in a half hour and to pick them up?"
"I, I don't know." He nervously replied, looking from one agent to the other.
"It will really help your case." Bobby assured.
"Alright." He quietly replied.
?-?
In the middle of Sue's ever-constant prayer, Kevin burst into the room, evilly smiling. "My friend will be here soon, so you need this now." He said, holding up a piece of cloth.
Sue suspiciously looked at him, but Kevin shut off the light, leaving the two of them in the dark room, only slivers of light coming into the room. She felt him moving around, then felt something go over her eyes. It was the cloth. "Hey! What are you doing! I can't see!" She exclaimed loudly, wiggling as best as she could despite being bound to the chair. Within seconds, she felt the knot cinch, then footsteps waling out of the room. Her mind's eye saw Kevin's evil face smiling, laughing at her. If she ever thought she actually heard something, now was the time. She would never forget that evil laugh.
?-?
"What do you suppose Kevin was planning on doing with the chain saw and TENS unit?" Bobby asked as they drove Omar's car to the meeting spot.
Jack shook his head as he drove, his eyes focused on the road. "I don't want to know."
He nodded in reply, then quietly drove to the lot, both silently praying that Sue was safe. Soon, they had arrived at the lot. Jack parked the car in the center of the nearly empty lot and waited for Kevin. Just before leaving, Omar called Kevin, saying to meet him at the meeting spot in a half hour. Backup was at the nearby gas station and just down the road, so at Jack's say, everyone would be on Kevin.
After a few minutes that felt like hours, Bobby spotted Kevin emerging out of the woods across the street. "There he is!" He exclaimed as Kevin crossed the street.
"On my count." Jack calmly said into his mic to the backup as the two agents slouched in the seat, waiting for Kevin to walk closer.
