I'll Always Return To You

Leah tried to calm down as she waited for the doctor to tell her she could go in to see Osmosis, who was currently getting a checkup at her insistence after the intense battle with Thrax, the dangerous virus that had very nearly claimed Frank and left his daughter an orphan, but the white-blood-cell cop, who perhaps may have been a bit too eager at times, went after the villain bravely and tricked him to where the villain had been destroyed and Frank had recovered thankfully.

Frank's little girl had been relieved, as had all the citizens that lived inside of Frank. The mayor had been forced to thank Osmosis and Drix for saving Frank, but Drix had said the credit went to his partner, who had gone above and beyond to save their human, despite very few people believing in him.

A white-blood-cell nurse came out and Leah looked up at her, seeming the cell, who looked a bit like an elderly woman, smile warmly. "He's doing alright, dear," she said to Leah. "Just a little banged up, that's all. Our new mayor has given him a couple weeks paid vacation, which he deserves in my opinion for his heroism."

Leah nodded in agreement. "Can I go in and see him?" She asked.

The nurse nodded. "He's asking for you," she said.

The woman quickly went down the hall and to the room where her boyfriend was, seeing him sitting up. "Ozzy!" She said, running up to him and glomping him in a hug.

"Oomph!" He exclaimed in surprise, instinctively catching his girlfriend as they fell back on the bed. He went still so that they didn't fall off as she clung to him, relieved he was okay. "Hey, baby."

She pulled back and looked at him before grabbing his face and leaning her face closer, tears falling from her eyes. "Do you know how worried sick I was?!" She exclaimed before hugging him, sobbing. "I was so scared you wouldn't make it back from your fight with Thrax."

Osmosis could see his girlfriend was crying from both relief and fear that she could have lost him forever. "Aw, sweetheart, it's okay," he said soothingly, hugging her closer and letting her cry. "I'm still here. Thrax is gone and both Frank and his daughter are safe."

The same nurse from earlier came in and she smiled at the sight before nodding. "You're free to go, Officer Jones, but if I may offer a suggestion, you might want to make plans to spend time with your girl," she said.

"Oh, I plan to, ma'am," he said before seeing Leah was still crying and he rubbed her back. "Nothing's going to stop me from spending the next few days or longer with my sweetheart, the one that makes me act all goofy when I see her."

Leah actually laughed at that one through her tears and the nurse smiled before letting them be and Ozzy reached up, wiping away the tears on his girl's face. "Hey, baby, it's okay," he soothed before his hold tightened on her. "Come on, you heart attacker. I'm keeping you in my arms for a while."

She smiled at his flirting. "You better, mister, if you want a ton of kisses from me," she responded back.

"Ooooh. I like it when my lady gets all flirty," he said to her, making her giggle as he walked down the hall, carrying her in his arms. The nurses and doctors smiled at this, not having the heart to break up the cute moment.

Drix was waiting at his friend's car when the two came out and the red-and-yellow hero looked relieved to see his best friend was okay. "You really scared us there, buddy," he said. "How about I drive you guys home?"

"Thanks, Drix. I owe you one, man," Ozzy said.

Leah smiled sweetly at her boyfriend's partner. "Thanks for not giving up on my Ozzy, Drix," she said.

He smiled. "He didn't give up on me," he said. "So it was only fair I return the favor."

On the drive home, Ozzy and Leah kissed each other, which Drix politely ignored, only clearing his throat gently when they arrived at the officer's house and the cop carried his girlfriend inside while the red-and-yellow hero took care to park the car and head inside himself, going to the den where he could catch up on some games and his partner and Leah could have some privacy.

The couple went to Ozzy's room where the white-blood cell gently set his girlfriend down on the edge of the bed and she smiled as he sat beside her and she hugged him, pulling him in for another kiss that he reciprocated. "Leah, I'm okay," he said. "I'm here, baby. You don't need to worry."

She sniffled. "I...I was so scared," she admitted. "When you went after Thrax. I...I didn't think you would make it back in time. That you'd be gone forever."

"Aw, baby. I know my job is dangerous, but I promise you...I'll always return to you," Ozzy said, gently wiping away her tears that were leaking from her eyes. "You don't have to worry about me not coming back."

She sniffled, to which he smiled. "And I know just how to cheer up my girl," he said, his hands reaching for her stomach and Leah began laughing as he tickled her.

"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! OHOHOHOHOZZIEHHEEHEEHEEHEEHEEHEE!" She laughed out.

"Man, I just love hearing you laugh, babycakes," he said, smiling. "You're my sweet cupcake that has my heart nearly beating out of my chest just to be with you."

Leah continued laughing a bit before she quickly moved, pouncing on her boyfriend and pinning him down. "Payback time, Jones," she said with a grin before her fingers wiggled into his sides.

Laughter instantly left the white-blood cell at that. "OHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO! BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABY! NOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOT THEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHERE! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" He laughed out.

She giggled. "What are you doing to do about it, Jones? Hmm?" She asked playfully.

He suddenly, but gently, grabbed her waist and rolled them over so that he was pinning her down, but he made sure to continue being gentle. "Well, I might have to put you under arrest for the weekend, baby," he said playfully. "Maybe longer if I get a kiss."

Leah giggled again before looking up at him and sighing. "Ozzy, you really promise you'll always return to me?" She asked seriously.

"I promise, babycakes," he said, letting her wrists go and gently cupping her face with his hands. "You're what keeps me going, baby. I don't know what I'd do without you."

She reached up and held his face in her hands. "I know I couldn't live without you," she admitted before hugging him and he hugged her back.

"Come on, baby, don't worry," Ozzy said gently before tickling her sides. "Now come on, show me that beautiful smile of yours that drives me crazy."

She laughed heartily, playfully pushing his hands away, but he continued the tickle torture for a bit before stopping and hugging his girlfriend. "Nothing's ever gonna stop me from coming back to you, Beautiful," he promised. "You're worth returning to every day after work and I mean that."

Leah smiled before gently pulling his head closer and kissing him. "Oh, Ozzy," she said as he returned the kiss before they just lay down and snuggled together, the white-blood cell holding his girlfriend close to him in both love and comfort.

Sometime later, Drix went to check on them and found the two sound asleep and cuddling, making him smile before he gently placed a blanket over them and headed out of the room quietly, knowing all was well once again.
