Facilier didn't have to wait long to see Lily again, in fact, she began visiting every day. Once her mother officially gained a position in Duke's Cafe, Lily didn't have to worry about getting caught. So together they began pouring over the left behind books.
Of course Lily refused to learn in such a dreary place, which is why they're both cleaning the abandoned voodoo shop. Much to Facilier's dismay.
"Lily, come on we've been cleaning all morning. I thought you wanted to learn magic?" Facilier groaned as he flopped onto a dusty pile of blankets. Lily kicks him off the pile and picks it up in a huff.
"This place is such a mess I'm amazed you even live here." She looks at him pointedly, dropping the blankets in a laundry bin. "And besides, a clean learning space makes a clean mind."
Facilier grumbles but still gets up, lazily picking up books and trash. Lily rolls her eyes but says nothing and continues cleaning. Picking up a book, Facilier flips through. He stops once he finds a spell, smirking, he looks at Lily.
"I've found just the thing to help both of us." He shows Lily the open book revealing an animation spell. "It animates dolls to do the work for us!"
Lily carefully read the page and after considering its instructions gave the go-ahead. "The only thing we need to be careful about is finding a clean knife."
At her words, Facilier pulls back his large coat to reveal an alarming amount of knives.
"I said clean." Lily deadpanned. He pulled out a handkerchief from a hidden pocket and offered it to Lily, rolling her eyes as she grabbed six dolls. After a glance for confirmation, she begins the process.
"Each doll is linked to the blood giver, so I figured we can each have three." She placed them on the table and plucked out three of her hairs, turning to Facilier to do the same. Together they wrapped each strand around the dolls and, with much stress from Lily, sliced the tips of their fingers causing blood to drip onto the dolls. Referencing back to the book Lily and Facilier begin chanting.
As the chanting drones of their voices mix into an eerie harmony. Their blood seeped into the dolls and they stopped, a moment passed, then twelve button eyes blinked. Abruptly the dolls stood up, each facing their new master.
"Um, what do we do now?" Facilier stage-whispered to Lily.
"Give them a command," Lily said.
Facilier leaned up to his three dolls. "Clean this room." The dolls hopped off the table and began scurrying about, grabbing trash, sweeping the floor, and restocking bookshelves. Lily clapped in wonder and gave a command to her dolls.
"Help clean with Facilier dolls." her dolls hopped off and cleaned as well. Watching the dolls work was both amazing and mystifying, yes Lily knew she was a witch but to perform magic. To see the power take effect. It was something she's never experienced but she positively knew she would be doing more.
With the dolls making quick work of the room, the two friends decided to treat themselves to some food. Eyeing a food cart, Facilier tells Lily his split-second made plan.
"Right, you distract the vendor with your all-around cuteness and I'll sneak up behind and grab us some food."
"You don't mean to steal it do you!?" Lily exclaimed.
"Well don't shout it out loud."
"We're not stealing food, I'll pay for it." leaving Facilier behind she promptly walks up to the food vendor. After paying for two flapjacks she thanked the vendor and walked back to the gaping Facilier.
"I don't know why you're so shocked we met because you stole my purse," Lily said.
"It- I just thought you were supposed to steal the food." Lily rolled her eyes and handed him the flapjack. "And here I thought you couldn't get any cruder." Facilier shrugged stuffing a flapjack into his mouth.
As they finish eating their food they enter the now scarily clean room. The six voodoo dolls stand straight-backed in the center. Most of the shelves were gone, only five or six were left sparkling clean. They were mostly repaired, with only a few chips and knicks, and a couple of missing shelves. But overall in good shape. The books were placed in orderly stacks upon the shelves. And statues were lined up, the posters originally on the wall weren't removed but straightened and dusted off. Facilier's bed was made and the sheets were cleaned. Lily swung her head around taking in the clean room. Impressed with the efficiency of the dolls Lily gets an idea.
"You know if you want to make money instead of having to steal all the time, we could set up a cleaning system using the dolls."
"Or," Facilier says excitedly. "We could set up a voodoo shop! Where we'll tell people fortunes or curse their enemies!"
"Maybe not cursing their enemies, but fortune telling sounds good." They continued discussing plans, and also how to fortune tell.
