Chapter 1

8 years later

After the fall of the Eggman Empire, the world had begun a long period of peace. Many of the towns and cities that were destroyed during the war had spent the past eight years rebuilding. It took a long time, but most, if not all, of the worlds cities have finished rebuilding. And now, everyone could finally live a happy, and stress free life.

"I AM FREAKING OUT TAILS!"

That is, everyone except for Sonic The Hedgehog.

Sonic, Tails and Amy were currently gathered in Tails' home, having an emergency meeting that Sonic had called.

"Sonic, I swear, you are acting like this is the end of the world!" Tails said, taking a bite out of his sandwich.

"It may as well be if this doesn't go well Tails!" Sonic said, continuing to panic.

"So… what is he freaking out about exactly?" Amy asked.

"He's just planning on asking Sally to marry him during their date tonight." Tails responded, not thinking that this was too big of a deal.

"WHAT?!" Amy practically screamed. "OH MY GOSH THIS IS AMAZING!" She continued to scream, giving Sonic a big bear hug.

"NOT HELPING AMY!" Sonic yelled out.

"Geez Amy, I would of thought that you would of been upset about this if anything." Tails said. "I mean, this kinda means that you and Sonic will never… you know?"

"Yeah, that may be true, but honestly, I think that Sonic being happy is what is most important, and if marrying Sally instead of me is what will make him happy, then I am all for it!" Amy responded.

"Wow, didn't think I would hear that from you Amy. You really have grown up since you made that wish on that ring." Sonic said.

"Well I hope so, that was over ten years ago!" Amy said with a laugh. "Thanks though. Anyways, hate to change the topic, but why exactly did you boys want me to be here anyways?"

"Cause I have absolutely NO IDEA WHAT I AM DOING!" Sonic responded, remembering his predicament, and continuing to panic.

"And neither do I, so we figured that you would probably be the best person to ask." Tails continued.

"So why don't you just, oh, I don't know, propose another time? You know, when you actually come up with a plan?" Amy asked.

"Cause today is the anniversary of when we beat Eggman, it would be the perfect day to do this." Sonic reasoned.

"Ah, ok… so you decided that, but neither of you came up with a plan?" Amy asked.

"Hey, have I EVER come across as the 'romantic' type to you?" Sonic asked.

"…Ok, you make a good point. What about you Tails, what's your excuse?"

"Amy, I have never been on a date in my life, do you really think I would have any idea about any of this?" Tails responded.

"Wait wait wait… you mean you and Mina aren't dating?!" Amy asked, surprised about this revelation.

At this comment, Tails' face began to turn completely red. "W-w-w-where the heck did you get THAT idea?!"

"Well… you two have been getting along really well over the past couple of years…"

"Not to mention you make a point to fly out to her concerts whenever you have the time."

"Which is a lot, by the way."

"And whenever she is in town the two of you are always hanging around each other."

"Seriously, it kinda seems like you are closer to her than me nowadays. And that is saying something!" Sonic finished.

"W-we're just really good friends is all. Nothing more, nothing less." Tails said, looking a bit down.

"…But you want it to be more, don't you?" Amy asked.

"…Yeah… yeah I do…" Tails responded.

"Well, why don't you ask her out? I mean, where's the harm?" Sonic asked.

"It's really not that simple Sonic…" Tails responded. "I just… I don't think she wants to date anyone after what happened to…"

"Oh… I see what you mean." Sonic said.

"What makes you so sure though? She might of been able to move on, it's been eight years after all." Amy asked.

"Well, sometimes when we are hanging out, she just suddenly has this sad look on her face, and she just gets lost in thought. I am pretty sure she is thinking about Ash whenever that happens." Tails explained.

"Oh…" Amy said.

"Let's not worry about that though. We have something more important to worry about right now, don't we?" Tails asked.

"That's right! We need to come up with a plan for Sonic! Alright team! Let's get thinking!" Amy said, voice filled with enthusiasm.

And with that, the trio got to work to come up with the perfect way for Sonic to propose.

Meanwhile, with Sally.

"Aaaaand done." Bunnie said, stepping away from Sally.

"Excellent work as always Bunnie." Sally said, admiring her hair in the mirror.

"Anything for mah best friend." Bunnie responded, giving Sally a hug, though being careful to not mess up her hair. "Trust me when I say, Sonic is gonna be absolutely speechless tonight!"

"Yeah, well I don't think we have to try too hard to accomplish that…" Sally said.

"What do you mean by tha-" Bunnie started, before she heard a knock on the door. "Now I wonder who that could be?" She said as she walked over and opened the door, only to be greeted by empty space. "Now that's strange, who in the world…"

"BOO!" Said a voice from behind the two girls, making them jump a bit.

When they turned around, they were greeted by the smiling face of Mina.

"Mina! Great to see you!" Sally said, giving her friend a hug.

"Gosh, when did you get into town?" Bunnie asked.

"A couple of hours ago. I finished my tour, and I decided to come home for a while, you know, as a break." Mina explained.

"Well, I am glad to see you are well, I trust the tour went well?" Sally asked.

"Honestly, I would say that may of been one of my best tours ever!" Mina said.

"Well that's good to hear." Bunnie said.

"So, what are you two up to?" Mina asked.

"Just getting Sally ready for her date with Sonic tonight." Bunnie explained. "Speaking of, what did you mean by what you said before Sally?"

"Hm? Oh, you mean about Sonic? Well, it's just that he was acting really weird this morning." Sally explained.

"Weird? Weird how?" Mina asked.

"Well…"

Earlier that day

"Hey Sal!" Sonic yelled out as he skid to a stop next to Sally. "YouReadyForOurDateTonight?!" He said rather quickly.

"Uh… yeah, just waiting for Bunnie to get here so she could do my hair, then I will be all set." Sally said.

"OkThat'sGood, IfYouNeedMeIWillBeAtTails'PlaceOkBYE!" Sonic said before speeding off.

Back to the present

"And that's about it." Sally finished explaining.

"Well, maybe it's because you are going to that fancy restaurant. You know how he feels about those places." Bunnie said.

"I guess… but still, that was just a little weird, even for him." Sally said.

"Hey, maybe we can get Nicole to spy on him and Tails, see if she can find out something." Mina suggested.

"No, that would be very rude." Sally said.

"Hey, it's an option!" Mina said, laughing a bit.

"You know, speaking of Tails, what's been going on between the two of you?" Bunnie asked.

"What do you mean?" Mina asked.

"Well, give it to us straight. Are you two dating or no?" Bunnie asked.

"W-WHAT?!" Mina asked. "What gave you that idea?!"

"Well… You two are always spending time together whenever you are in town…"

"And don't think we haven't noticed how often Tails takes his plane out to go and see your concerts…"

"Like seriously, if you two are trying to keep this a secret, you are doing a terrible job of it!"

"There is nothing to keep a secret though. We are just friends." Mina explained. "… That being said though…"

"Oh?" Bunnie asked, curious as what she was about to say.

"… Maybe, just maybe, I would like for us to be a bit… more?" Mina explained, unsure if telling the girls this was a good idea.

"Ok… so why don't you ask him out?" Sally asked.

"Well… I don't know… I mean, Tails is a great guy… and he may or may not of become very uh… good looking over the years… but it would just feel wrong, honestly." Mina explained, or at least tried to.

"What the heck is that supposed to mean?" Bunnie asked.

"Well… after what happened to Ash…" Mina said. "It's just, whenever I think about asking Tails out, I can't help but think of him as well…"

"Oh for Pete's sake!" Bunnie exclaimed. "Listen Mina, you were the one who said that Tails should try and move on from what happened all those years ago, right?"

"Yeah?"

"Well, how did you ever expect him to do that if you are over here thinking like this?" Bunnie explained. "I am not saying you should get over your boyfriend's death, but you need to move on. He gave his up life so the two of you could live yours, so live your dang life!"

"What Bunnie is trying to say, is that you should give it a chance." Sally explained.

"Yeah, maybe you're right… I'll think about it. Thanks girls." Mina said, giving her friends a hug.

"Alright, now, if you will excuse me, I have to go and finish getting ready. I will see you two later!" Sally said before leaving the room.

"Sonic is 100% planning on proposing tonight." Mina said as soon as the door closed.

"What?! What gives you that idea?" Bunnie asked.

"Trust me, Sonic may hate fancy restaurants, but he would not completely lose it like Sally made it out to be over that." Mina explained. "Besides, I saw him in a fancy restaurant before, and trust me when I say he was not freaking out."

"Seriously? You think he is just nervous about popping the question? Come on! We are talking about Sonic here! You know, the savior of the entire planet Sonic? Stopped a black hole just by running Sonic? How about destroyed an entire pocket dimension by just bumping into Knuckles, Sonic? Any of those ring a bell?" Bunnie said. "There is no way he is scared about that."

"Twenty bucks says I am right." Mina said, holding her hand out.

"You're on!"

I just really quick want to address a couple of guest reviews I had received. I have thought about doing a story where the future Tails and co. end up in the boomverse. It is still in very early planning and I am not 100% sure if I will end up doing it in the end, but it is something I have considered. As for stuff like Tails doll… yeah… uh, gonna be honest here. I really don't like creepy-pasta stuff. I get the appeal, but I am just not a fan of it, and I don't think I would be able to do something like that justice. That being said, maybe around Halloween next year, I'll write something. Big maybe though.

I just want to mention also, I won't write a story simply if someone requests it, however, if I like the idea of the story enough, I may try and see what I can do with it, and that may turn into a full story or a one shot in the future. So, if you have an idea for a story, and you think I can do it justice, always feel free to drop the idea in a review or something, and I'll consider it! :)

Anyways, now that that's done…

So, originally this was supposed to take place 10 years after the fall of Eggman, but then I looked up the ages of some of the characters in the 25 years later arc, and I found out that one of Sonic and Sally's kids are 16 at that time, so the numbers wouldn't really line up. Don't expect me to put this much effort into keeping the timeline consistent throughout the entire story, in fact, this is about all I am doing in that regard.

Also, if you are wondering about ages, Tails should be about 20 after the time skip, assuming that he was about 12 at the time the Genesis wave happened. That is honestly the only important age, since you know… it would feel waaaaay to weird to have a ship fic involving the boy and he is only 12… Heck, that is a big reason why there is a time skip at all. As for the other characters… uh… use your imagination I guess?

This will be the last chapter of anything I will be posting this year. The second half of the year was pretty good in terms of me posting semi-consistently, so I am proud of that, and I hope to keep this going well into 2021! As an end of the year bonus, I added a preview and summary of a story I plan on beginning next year onto my profile. It is the story I have been talking about the past couple chapters, so I hope you take a look!
