Lily looks closer into her crystal ball, she sees her client accidentally being pushed off a bridge and dying. She lets out a startled eep.
"That bad?" the balding man says with a tired sigh, he had asked what his future love life would be like, instead Lily saw his death.
"No, not at all." She waves him off as she rummages for an anti-tripping charm. "Here wear this and your significant other will find you." He snatches it out of her hand and puts it on instantly, after looking it over he says to her.
"You wouldn't happen to have this in a different color?" The charm bracelet was a myriad of colors. "It seems kind of kiddish." Lily rolled her eyes and escorted him out of the building.
"Well your partner has a young soul, they'll like it."
"Really?" He stopped them both. "Wait, could you tell me more?" Lily pushed him out.
"Nope. Bye!" As she's pushing the guy out, Facilier walks in with another customer. He chuckles at Lily's behavior before grabbing a potion for minor luck. Facilier's client was a very nervous-looking man, with twitchy hands and eyes constantly moving. He shakingly took the bottle before exiting the room with multiple thank yous.
Putting up a 'sorry we're closed' sign Lily turns to Facilier. "What was the man's problem?"
"He kept seeing black cats everywhere, and when walking over here he passed under a ladder. He thought fate was against him and decided to get a one-up on 'em." He explained with a shrug. "But what about your guy? He seemed pretty eager for someone wearing an anti-trip charm."
Lily snorted into her hand. "I made him think it was a love charm. He wanted to see if he got any action soon but instead, I saw him fall to his death." She placed her ball back on its shelf. "It would have been scary if I knew I couldn't stop it."
Facilier helped her tidy up the room, after the agreement with Lily's mom they both cleaned up the building before eating dinner at Lily's house. "Yeah I know what you mean, just last week this lady had some serious vibes going on, but all she needed was a nice cleansing ritual and blam! No more ominous feelings." He finished with jazz hands.
"You sound very professional when you say stuff like that," Lily says sarcastically. Facilier pouted but she ignored him, focusing on her hungry stomach rather than the boy's feelings. "Come on, mum has finally started making jumbo and I do not want to miss it." Facilier perked up at the mention of food and they both ran out the door.
Entering the Jones apartment the two friends announced their presence. The house that Lily and Tulip live in was small but homey. Walls, which were painted a burnt orange, were slowly being taken over by pictures, both from England and New Orleans. Two doors were in the hallway. which led to a bathroom and the shared Jones' bedroom. The sitting room/ kitchen filled the house with warmth from the gas stove, and the smell of jumbo drifted about. There was a small love seat that could fit Facilier and Lily together, or just Ms. Jones, resting next to it was a radio on top of a stand. The windows, looking out into the streets, had curtains that Lily's mother made.
"Kids don't just stand there, go wash your hands and set the table!" After Ms. Jones learned that Facilier lived in the voodoo shop; she demanded that he lives in their apartment. This caused her to unintentionally adopt Facilier, something that only Lily seems to realize.
"Ah come on, we're not that dirty. I mean, it's not like I played with a cockroach or anything." Facilier says trying to rile Tulip up. She didn't rise to the bait however and simply bopped his head with a spoon.
"None of that love, go wash your hands or I'll wash your mouth." She said smoothly. Lily laughed as Facilier quickly ran into the bathroom, but seeing her mother's glare she rushed over as well.
As they washed their hands, their shadows placed spoons and bowls down. The small family of three started to eat Ms. Jones first every jumbo. Surprisingly it wasn't that bad, the recipe she got was from one of their neighbors. An old lady who never writes down anything but instead works on gut feelings and memories, so there was bound to be some trouble. They ate the meal in silence with only a couple of questions asked and answered. Finally, Tulip places down her fork.
"Ahem," She clears her throat, "it's come to my attention that summer is almost over." The two children let out a gasp. "Yes I know, tragic, anyways, I've decided to enroll you into school, both of you."
"No outrage!" Facilier shakes his fist dramatically. "You can't lock me away. You have to have a parent to enroll you, and I've got no parents."
"It's 'I have no parents' and yes you will be going to school. I will be your parent." Tulip slaps her hands on the table.
"AH HA, so you admit it! You have adopted him." Lily shouts.
"I'm adopted!?" Facilier yells.
"What?" Tulip says. "No, I haven't adopted anybody, but it is true." She turns to the boy. "Facilier you have become a second child to me, and no child of mine will drop out of school."
Facilier sat back down, quietly fiddling his thumbs. "Well, um, if that's how you feel, then I guess I should go to school." He mumbles. Lily smiled behind her hands, it was cute seeing Facilier be all shy. Tulip, however, was much more vocal. She leaned over the table to smother him in hugs and kisses.
"Oh, you sweet, sweet boy! This will be good for you, just you wait! You can make more friends and you'll still be with your sister." She paused realizing what she just said. "Wait that's not it, just that we were talking about adoption and I got confused and um." She looked around hopelessly, waving her hands through the air. Facilier and Lily started laughing, Lily finding this entire conversation hilarious falls off her chair, causing Tulip to laugh along with them.
"At this point." Lily gasps for air. "You might as well adopt him!"
Later that night Lily sneaks out of her bedroom for a glass of water, tiptoeing to not disturb Facillier she finds him awake. He leans against the window criss crossed on his cot.
"Oi, why are you still awake?" She whispers.
"I was thinking." Facilier bluntly states.
"About what?"
"You, your mom, and me I guess." Lily made a 'go on' gesture. "Well before we met, I was alone. The only thing I had was that run-down store and some musty books, but now." He laughs softly. "I've got a family, and I don't know what to do with that."
"What do you mean 'do'? You don't have to do anything, we love you and we will be with you no matter what! Family sticks together right?" She smiles and sticks out her pinky. "I pinky promise!" Facilier grins and grabs her pinky with his own.
"Pinky promise!"

UnnaVox: This chapter was more of a filler but we got to see their growing relationship. Sorry if anyone was hoping for a new ship but Facilier and Lily will have a strictly SIBLING relationship, nothing romantic. Next chapter they should be going to school, but who knows. \(._.)/
