Chapter 2

"So, just to go over the plan, once she see's the message, I just get down on a knee and ask her?" Sonic asked while looking himself over in a mirror.

"Yeah, that's about it." Amy responded.

"And you are SURE that Nicole will be down to do this?" Sonic asked.

"Of course she will! Just trust me on this, it will be great!" Amy reassured.

"Alright, if you say so… Thanks Amy." Sonic said, starting to calm down a bit.

"Just remember, none of this will work if you don't remain calm. If you are freaking out during the entire date, then Sally will figure out that something is up!" Amy explained.

"Got it… calm… Ok, I got this!" Sonic said.

"Good! Now go get her!" Amy said, pushing Sonic out the door.

"Good luck Sonic!" Tails yelled out as Sonic walked away.

And with that, Sonic was gone.

"Well, I better go find Nicole so I can go over the plan with her." Amy said before heading to the door.

"Actually Amy, can we talk about something really quick?" Tails asked.

"Sure, what's up?"

"Well… our talk earlier got me thinking." Tails said.

"Our conversation? About Sonic's proposal plan or…?" Amy asked.

"You know… about Mina." Tails explained.

"Oh yeah, so what about her?" Amy asked.

"Well, I was thinking about it, and I was thinking I may try and ask her out…" Tails explained. "The only thing is, like I said before, I don't know if she moved on from Ash yet."

"Hmm… well, here is what I think about this. I think that if she hasn't moved on yet, then she needs some help with it." Amy explained. "Maybe, because she hasn't been seeing anyone, she's having a bit of trouble."

"Ok… makes sense." Tails said. "So you think I should do it?"

"I think you should at the very least talk to her about it. You never know, you may be surprised." Amy said.

"And if it doesn't work out?" Tails asked.

"Then that's it. Don't worry, things wouldn't get awkward between the two of you because of this, you two are too close for that to happen." Amy explained.

"Ok, the next time I see her I will talk to her about this."

"Great! Good luck! Anyways, I gotta go, Nicole needs to be filled in on the plan." Amy said as he left.

"… Oh gosh did I really just agree to do that?!" Tails said to himself.

Sally had just finished getting ready for her date with Sonic when she stepped out of her room.

"So, how do I look?" Sally asked her two friends.

"Absolutely stunning! Sonic is gonna be completely speechless!" Mina responded.

"Speaking of the blue dude, here he comes now!" Said Bunnie, pointing towards a window, where they could see the blue blur heading straight towards them.

"Hey Sal, ready to go?" Sonic asked as he skid to a stop. "Oh! Hey Mina! I didn't know you were in town!"

"I just got in a couple of hours ago. We will catch up later though, you two should get going." Mina said.

"She's right, our reservation is in only a couple of minutes." Said Sally.

"Alright, talk to you two later!" Sonic said as he led Sally away.

"Have fun you two!" Bunnie said.

And with that, the couple was gone.

"So, what are you going to do now?" Bunnie asked Mina.

"I think I will take a walk around town. It's been a while, so I want to see what's new. Want to join me?" Mina asked.

"Sorry, me and Suger-twan have plans. I'll be happy to do something tomorrow though." Said Bunnie.

"Sounds good! Well, see you around!" Mina said before walking off into town.

Walking around, Mina was astonished at how little things had changed. The shops and restaurants were all in the same places, and there didn't seem to be anything new. She did notice that Amy was talking to Nicole about something. While she wanted to go and say hi, they looked like they were talking about something important, so she just let them be.

Eventually, deciding that she was getting tired from all of the traveling for the day, she decided to start heading home.

Not looking where she was heading though, she bumped into someone as she turned around, sending the both of them to the ground.

"Oh, I am so sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going." Mina said frantically.

"Don't worry about it, I wasn't paying attention either." Said a familiar voice.

"…Tails?" Mina asked.

"Mina?!"

Tails had left his home to go for a walk into town, mainly to get his mind off of the conversation he had with Amy a short while ago. He only wanted to get some advice on his situation, he didn't intend on agreeing to asking Mina out.

He thought that he would be fine for a while though. After all, Mina was supposed to be on tour still, so there was no way he would bump into her without intending to.

Now that he was staring right at her though, he had absolutely no idea what to do.

"Hey! How have you been?" Mina said, helping her friend up off the ground.

"I've been good. I thought you were supposed to be on tour still, what are you doing in town?" Tails asked.

"Oh, we just finished the last concert of the tour a couple of days ago, so I am taking some time off now. I actually just came in a few hours ago." Mina explained.

"Oh! Your last concert was the other day? I could of sworn you had a few more." Tails said.

"I have a concert scheduled to be here in a couple of weeks, but that's about it for a while right now." Mina explained.

Tails was now internally slapping himself. How could he of made that mistake?

"Oh… uh… well that's nice. You happy to be home?" Tails asked, feeling very nervous.

Tails's behavior seemed got Mina's attention. "Uh yeah… is everything ok?"

"Huh? Oh, yeah, everything is fine! Why do you ask?" Tails asked.

"Well, you seem really nervous for some reason." Mina pointed out.

"Oh uh… sorry. I am just uh… worried about Sonic! Yeah! That's it!" Tails said in a hurry, only to realize his mistake a moment later.

"Why would you be worried about Sonic?" Mina asked.

"Uh… no reason in particular! He just seemed worried about his date tonight, that's all! Wow would you look at the time I should really get go-" Tails said before trying to make his escape.

He completely forgot about Mina's super speed though.

"Not so fast. What is going on with Sonic?" Mina asked after cutting off Tails' escape.

Sighing, Tails realized that there was no getting out of this. "Let's go where no-one can hear this, and you gotta promise me that you will keep this a secret. Understand?"

"Got it." Mina said as she followed Tails.

Meanwhile, with Sonic and Sally

Sonic and Sally had just arrived at the restaurant, and were being seated.

"So, how were things with Tails today?" Sally asked.

"They were good, we just hung out, and talked about some things while we played some video games, you know, the usual." Sonic explained. "How about you? Guess you and the girls had some fun today."

"We really didn't do much. Mina showed up a bit after Bunnie finished my hair, and we just talked a bit before I had to finish getting ready." Sally explained.

A waiter then came and took their orders. When he left, Sonic noticed that Sally seemed to be a bit distracted.

"Hey Sal, everything ok?" Sonic asked.

"Hm? Oh, yeah, just thinking about a couple of things." Sally said.

"You mind telling me about it?" Sonic asked.

"Well… it's about Mina." Sally explained. "She's… still having a bit of trouble moving on after what happened to Ash."

"Yeah, Tails told me that he was worried about the same thing." Sonic explained.

"But there is just one thing, and you HAVE to promise me that you will keep this a secret. Got it?" Sally said sternly.

"Hey, 'Secret' is my middle name!" Sonic said jokingly.

"Really? I thought it was 'the'." Sally responded with her own joke.

"Geez, Knuckles says it once and everyone thinks it's true." Sonic said with a laugh.

The two shared a laugh before getting back to their conversation.

"Well… the thing is, Mina likes Tails… a lot." Sally explained, catching Sonic's attention.

"Oh really now?" Sonic asked. "It's funny you should say that, Tails actually said that he felt the same way."

"Well that's good. That means no hearts will be broken. But that's not the problem." Sally said.

"The problem is that they would have a lot of trouble getting together, because they are still stuck on what happened with Ash." Sonic said.

"Yeah, that's right." Sally said. "I just want them to be happy to be honest. They have been through so much in their lives, and I think they deserve it. But how can they do that if…"

"Well, maybe we could help them out?" Sonic asked earning a look from Sally. "I don't mean tell them 'hey, I know the other likes you, so ask them out already!' I mean maybe we can, you know, give them a push in the right direction?"

"Geez, look at you, deciding that the patient approach would be smarter." Sally said.

"Hey, just because I am the fastest thing alive, doesn't mean that I think taking your time is a bad thing!" Sonic said, earning a laugh from Sally.

"Well, I agree. Maybe we should give them a push in the right direction." Sally said. "For now though, let's just focus on tonight."

"Sounds good to me." Sonic said as their food arrived.

Back with Tails and Mina

Tails and Mina decided to have their conversation over some food. Not wanting to go with anything fancy, they decided on some chili dogs.

"Good to see that this place is still going strong." Mina said as they approached Chuck's Chili Dogs.

"Well, with this place being Sonic's favorite place to get something to eat, as well as being owned by his uncle, it isn't really hard to believe." Tails said.

When they walked in, they were greeted by the smiling face of Uncle Chuck.

"Well if isn't Tails! How are you doing my boy?" Uncle Chuck said.

"Doing well, you remember Mina right?" Tails said, gesturing over to his friend.

"Of course! Nice to see you again young lady." Chuck said. "Anyways, I was about to close up, but if you two want something to eat, I can whip something up really quick."

"Yeah, that would be great! Thank you!" Tails said as Chuck went into the kitchen.

Shortly after, he came out with two chili dogs.

"Here you are, enjoy!" Chuck said before leaving the two alone.

"How lucky that we get the whole place to ourselves!" Mina said before taking a bite out of her Chili Dog.

"Yeah." Tails responded, feeling a bit nervous. 'This is not a date, this is not a date, THIS IS NOT A DATE!'

"So, what's going on with Sonic anyways?" Mina asked.

"Ok, I just need to remind you that this absolutely HAS to be kept a secret." Tails said.

"Of course. So, what's going on?" Mina asked.

"Ok… So, Sonic is planning on proposing tonight and-" Tails started.

"HAHA! I KNEW IT!" Mina suddenly exclaimed. "Bunnie sooooo owes me twenty bucks!"

"Wait, you knew? And you bet on it?!" Tails asked.

"Well, Sally was talking about how Sonic was acting weird this morning, and I kinda just connected the dots. As for the bet, Bunnie was not convinced at all, so we kinda just bet on it." Mina explained.

"Ok… please tell me Sally doesn't know about this. Sonic was REALLY nervous about figuring out the perfect way to do it." Tails said.

"Don't worry, we only talked about it when Sally wasn't in the room." Mina explained. "So, how's he going to do it?"

"That's actually what we did all day, figuring that out." Tails explained. "We even had Amy over to help out."

"Oh really? Wait, is that what she was talking to Nicole about earlier?" Mina said, recalling that she saw the two of them earlier.

"Yeah, probably. Nicole plays a pretty big role in the plan we came up with." Tails said.

"Speaking of, what's the plan?" Mina asked.

"Well, it all starts once they get out of dinner." Tails said before going into detail about the plan.

Back to Sonic and Sally

Sonic and Sally had just finished eating their food and were paying the bill.

"Thanks a lot Sonic, I had a really good time tonight." Sally said before getting up.

"Hey, who's to say that it has to end quite yet?" Sonic asked.

"Oh? What do you have in mind?" Sally asked.

"Well, it's great weather out today, and I know a great spot, so how about we go stargazing?" Sonic asked.

"That sounds lovely. Ok, sure. Let's go!" Sally said as they walked out of the restaurant.

'Oh gosh here we go…'

"Oh wow! That is a great idea!" Mina said as Tails finished filling her in on the plan.

"Yeah, it all kinda rides on Nicole agreeing to do it though, but I don't think we have to worry about it." Tails said before finishing his chili dog.

"Hey, you think they are at that hill yet?" Mina asked.

"Let's see, they are probably on their way there now." Tails said, looking at the clock. "Why do you ask?"

"Well… want to go spy on them?" Mina asked.

"W-what?! But that would be…" Tails said.

"Oh come on! You are acting like you don't know that Sonic would do the same with you." Mina said.

"… Ok, you have a point there. But still…" Tails said.

"Come on, it'll be fine as long as we don't get caught! And I know you want to see this!" Mina reasoned.

"… Ok fine. We just gotta be REALLY careful not to get caught. If we do, it could ruin everything!" Tails said.

"Great! Let's start heading over then!" Mina said, getting up.

"Thanks for the food Chuck!" Tails called out before leaving with Mina.

The two of them made smalltalk while walking towards the hill that Sonic was planning on proposing on. Then, Tails began thinking about his conversation with Amy earlier.

'Come on Tails, you can do this. Just, talk to her about it! It'll be fine!' He thought.

"Hey Mina?" Tails asked.

"Yeah?"

"Uh… there was something I wanted to talk to you about…" Tails said.

"Ok…? What is it?"

"Well… I was wondering if yo-"

CRASH

"What was that?!" Mina said before running off in the direction of the crash, Tails following not too far behind.

When he arrived, he saw a look of pure horror on Mina's face, and Tails couldn't blame her one bit.

"Found you."

And of course something goes wrong.

Next chapter is the point where the Tails and Mina relationship is really going to get started up, so look forward to that.

Also, the inevitable fight in the next chapter… it's gonna be brutal, so please prepare yourselves mentally for that. K thx.

I just want to point out why I posted this instead of my other story, since this is the second week in a row posting this. I had a really busy week, and I really didn't have much time to edit it… but when I did get the time to do so, I realized that I could do the chapter a lot better, so I am holding off on posting it for now.
