It took Lelouch all of five minutes to reach the location that Rai and Flint were positioned at during the entire battle, the three assassins were ready to move and end this madness. With a great leap the trio moved from the top of the building that they were on to the top of the building next to it. within the next minute they scaled down the side of the building into position just out of sight of the guards that were patrolling around the G1 base that currently housed Clovis. Rai gave a sharp whistle drawing the attention of a group of guards who stupidly wandered towards the noise without reporting what was going on. The guards were ambushed quickly and quietly allowing for Lelouch and the others to steal their uniforms as disguises.
Now seen as guards because of their stolen uniforms, Lelouch, Flint, and Rei were able to approach the G1 without incident as the patrols that the guards made were simple and repetitive allowing them to be bypassed easily allowing for the assassins to avoid all forms of combat as they climbed the Royal G1 and opened a roof hatch that was for emergency escapes in the room in front of the mobile throne room. There were only two guards in front of the room that the third prince was staying in, Clovis arrogantly thinking that he was untouchable in his mobile base. With two quick shots with his gun Flint was able to kill both of the men defending the prince. Then the three of them entered the room from the roof. Flint took guard as Lelouch nodded to Rai who moved towards the control panel for the throne room doors. Swiftly removing the panel for the door, Rai pulled and mixed wires for a few moments before the Throne room door opened and all three men went to confront Clovis.
"What is this. I told you people I was not to be disturbed" Clovis began to rant. "You are not even following proper protocol. What is your name and number solder I will" Clovis was cut off from his rant as Lelouch pulled out his pistol and pointed it at Clovis.
"This ends now." Lelouch said " If you value your life, you will order your solders to cease all actions right now."
"And don't bother calling for aid, I cut off communications and cameras to your throne room" Rai added.
Clovis the coward that he was quickly complied with what he was told to do "Attention to all forces, cease fire! In the name of Clovis la Britannia, third imperial prince and Viceroy of Area 11, you are ordered to cease fire! I repeat, you are to cease fire at once!"
"There, satisfied?" Clovis said.
"Yes, absolutely," Lelouch said in stolen helmet muffling his voice preventing Clovis from recognizing who was speaking.
"So what's next?" Clovis asked with a bored tone, "A round of songs or how about a game of chess?"
"We have a gun pointed at you and your talking about chess and songs. You truly have some messed up priorities" Flint commented not believing what he was hearing, expecting something more along the lines please don't kill me
"Excuse you?" Clovis asked feeling a bit insulted, "You dare insult me?"
"Don't mind him, my friend is like that with everyone." Lelouch "Though a game of chess sounds nice but boring considering that you never beat me before."
"What?" Clovis asked confused.
"Think back Clovis…at the Aries Villa."
Clovis was in shock, "Okay, who are you?"
Lelouch walked up and pulled off his helmet, Clovis was shocked to see him. Alive and breathing.
"It's been a long time my big brother Clovis," Lelouch said.
Clovis was still in shock at the sight of his younger brother, "Y-You're…"
"Yes," Lelouch said, "the former 11th Britannian prince and 17th heir to the throne, son of the late Empress Marianne vi Britannia, Lelouch vi Britannia."
"Lelouch, I thought you were—"
"Dead? Oh I assure you Clovis that as you can see, I'm alive and well." Lelouch continued, "I've returned my brother and I'm here to change everything."
"I'm overjoyed Lelouch," Clovis said, actually somewhat happy that his brother was "they said you and Nunnally died when Japan was conquered, and who are your friends" Clovis then wondered, "wait, what about Nunnally? Is she…?"
"Nunnally is alive as well, She's living with me." Lelouch answered knowing that his brother was both staling for time and trying to change the conversation" As for the others, They are a couple of likeminded individuals. Lelouch saw no problem telling Clovis this as he wouldn't tell anyone else.
"This is indeed good to hear," Clovis said, "what glorious news. You know Lelouch, to be honest with you, I've always believed that you and Nunnally still lived and now we can make it known."
Lelouch was silent and just stared at Clovis. Did the idiot not see the reason that he never contacted anyone who could verify his survival, save the Ashford family who kept quiet about his and Nunally's survival, because he wanted people to think that he was dead.
"A-Anyway Lelouch," Clovis continued, "you and Nunnally should come back to the homeland with me. I'm sure that—"
"Go back with you to Pendragon," Lelouch interrupted, "and be used as diplomatic tools again," Lelouch shook his head, "no thanks, neither myself nor Nunnally have any intention of being used as bargaining tools again so you can forget it."
"N-No, that's not it," Clovis denied, "I'm not going to use you and Nunnally as tools."
"Even if you wouldn't do so, I'm sure that our father would again. Or Schneizel would try something to keep me in line." Lelouch countered.
"Plus, He said that he hated how most of the royal family treated him back then." Rai added.
Clovis was taken back by what Lelouch and Rai said.
"Clovis, have you forgotten why we were used as tools before?" Lelouch asked. Clovis looked at Lelouch with a downcast expression.
"That's right," Lelouch said, "it's because my mother was killed," Lelouch closed his eyes thinking about the memory of what happened that night in the Aries Villa in Pendragon, "Mother was a Knight of Honor before earning her way up as a Knight of the Round but was a commoner by birth. No doubt the other imperial consorts and other high-ranking nobles held her in contempt and that contempt extended to me and Nunnally," Lelouch opened his eyes and glared at Clovis, "even though it was made to look like the work of terrorists, my friends and I are not fools…you people," Lelouch's face was contorted into raging anger, "you people killed my mother!"
"No, it wasn't me!" Clovis responded emotionally, "I swear to you, it wasn't!"
"Oh I know that. In fact I know that most of the Royal family don't have the brains or resources to pull off what happened that day." Lelouch replied "You personally were to young to be involved in any way. However you might have overheard something, plus there are other questions that you need to answer. Now nothing you know can be hidden from me" With that Lelouch's Geass took over Clovis
"Huh?" Clovis said as Lelouch's Geass power took "Yes, go ahead." At that Rai and Flint looked at each other never seeing anything like this before.
"Who was it that killed my mother, do you know?" Lelouch asked
"No, I don't know but our brother Schneizel and our sister Cornelia, they would know." Clovis answered
"Ok how" Rai asked
"I'll tell you when I know" Flint replied
Lelouch Ignored his friends but was surprised at Clovis answer, "Were they responsible for my Mothers demise?"
Clovis opened his mouth but didn't say anything and Lelouch frowned when he realized. "I see, you don't know. Tell me what you do know regarding my mother's murder."
"I know for a fact that Cornelia investigated Lady Marianne's murder and our father ordered Schneizel to move the body although I don't know where." Clovis replied again. Lelouch nodded at this, it made more sense that Cordelia would investigate her teachers death, and Schneizel following fathers orders was not unheard of.
"Why would he do that?" Lelouch asked raising an eyebrow.
Clovis opened his mouth but didn't say anything again.
"Of course you don't know that either," Lelouch said as he was disappointed. Now that he had his more personal questions answered it was time to get down to the mystery of the Green haired girl. "The girl that you were experimenting on, the one that was stollen by the terrorists, was there anything like her that you encountered. And who else knows about Her.?"
No. she was completely unique, Only myself, General Bartley and a few trusted scientists were involved in Project R." Clovis answered. Lelouch let out a breath at least he didn't have to deal with all of Britannia knowing about the First Ones, the templars were bad enough. He couldn't begin to imagine the danger that his father could poses if he had access to the artifacts of Eden.
Lelouch knew that this was a long shot but asked anyway "Do you have any physical information or evidence on Project R with you?"
"No. Its hidden in a research sight that I don't know the location of, I didn't want father to know about what I was doing " Clovis replied, Surprising Lelouch couldn't find fault in his brother's logic. Their father somehow could always find out anything. Still without physical evidence no one would believe that Clovis was doing human experiments, at least he had evidence for the fact that Clovis ordered a massacre and the people would know of what he did.
Lelouch deactivated his Geass, he didn't care if Clovis felt any remorse for his actions in killing the people of Shinjuku ghetto he would pay for his crimes with his life. Clovis was back to normal and looked at Lelouch terrified regarding the accusation that Lelouch made.
"I swear it wasn't me Lelouch!" Clovis stated, "I had nothing to do with it!"
"Hmph, well here's the thing Clovis," Lelouch said, "I believe you."
Clovis was relieved, "You do? Oh, thank goodness."
"Yes," Lelouch then frowned,
"The people of Shinjuku and their deaths are a different matter you bastard." Rai added , unusually angry
"Huh?" Clovis looked at Lelouch then Rai confused, "What about them?"
"You ordered the attack on the people of Shinjuku, isn't that, right?" Lelouch asked already knowing the answer but still wanting to see what his brother would say, it he was lucky he might let something slip that he forgot to ask.
"Lelouch, I…I had to do it…terrorists stole something that was dangerous." Clovis stated trying to get his brother on his side
"Oh really? Was it a canister that was like a bulb and was it dark red?" Flint countered having heard a description of the canister from Lelouch.
Clovis was shocked, "W-Wait, have you seen it?"
"Only I saw the canaster personally, but we all know what was inside of It, a Girl with strange abilities and bright green hair." Lelouch all but shouted at his brother
Clovis was surprised and then he realized something as it was starting to make sense. "You…you were there? You were actually in…?"
"Yes Clovis, I was there and your Royal Guard were going to kill me!"
Clovis was shocked again, "Lelouch, I…I didn't know you were there. If I had known, then I—"
"It wouldn't have matter," Lelouch interrupted surprising Clovis, "You would have killed me to keep what you were doing quiet, Just like you did with countless Japanese men, women, and children today! Not numbers, Not Elevens, Japanese!"
"L-Lelouch, you…you don't understand," Clovis said.
"You're right, I don't understand, I don't understand how you can be so callous of killing innocent people!" Lelouch shot back.
"Those monkeys were not innocent, they were aiding terrorists." Clovis weakly stated
"What?" Rai asked as Flint blinked in shock at the audacity of what the third prince had just said.
"You know the truth and so do I. Those people had nothing to do with what was going on today. You just panicked at the fact that your dirty little secret might get out. No one would have believed what they said but you killed them anyways!" Lelouch yelled back
"Lelouch, I don't understand you. Why are you so concerned about these people? They're just Elevens. They're not like us Britannians, much less come from superior family like ours."
Lelouch twitched his eyebrow with anger and disgust, "That's a wrong thing to say to me. And I told you they are Japanese."
Lelouch walked up to Clovis with fire in his eyes at the horrible remarks that his brother had said has he holstered his stolen gun. Clovis tried to scramble back into his throne as Lelouch approached him his hidden blade on his right hand extended,
"Lelouch, stop this!" Clovis pleaded panic in his eyes at the sight of the hidden blade.
Lelouch quickly grabbed Clovis by the collar and pushed Clovis back on his throne. Clovis looked at Lelouch terrified not seeing his brother but a man full of righteous furry at the crimes that he had committed today. His Judge, Jury, and executioner.
"Lelouch, you may not like it but it's the way it is," Clovis replied , "it's survival of the fittest, the strong rule over the weak and it's our nation's policy to oppress the Numbers. It's just the way it is Lelouch. You may not like it but it doesn't matter, you have to accept that just as these monkeys have to accept that we're superior to them."
"That's not the truth that I follow. These people that you murdered today were no different that you or me. We are all humans and we all deserve that same rights. To live the lives that we want. That's that world that my friends and I will make, the world that Nunally wants to see" Lelouch countered. I'm fully aware of the policy and I know what the Emperor believes is the right course for Britannia," Lelouch said, "however, just because he says how it is, doesn't mean I should just blindly accept it. I refuse to accept it no matter what you or anyone else says."
"Lelouch, I…" Clovis started only to stop as Lelouch plunged his hidden blade into his brother's heart. Clovis began to cough up blood from the attack as the two brothers began to look each other in the eyes. It was as if the whole world went white for the two of them as nothing around them seem to mater. Now Lelouch wasn't looking at the monster that ordered the massacre of the people of Shinjuku ghetto. No now he was looking at his big brother who he would play with in his childhood home, one of his few half siblings that actually treated him like a person. As for Clovis his life flashed before his eyes, the regret of not doing more for his siblings, the fear and jealousy of his brothers who were always better than him, and now the pointlessness
"Clovis. I'm not sorry for what I did. But I'm sorry that I had to do it" Lelouch said as he kneed over his brother who had slid off of his throne and was on the ground bleeding out.
"Lelouch. What. I thought you hated me" Cloves said with a wet cough. Lelouch had just stab him after attacking him for what he had done. And a small but growing part of his was regretting his actions to get out of his brother's shadows
"It's complicated. I truly hate what you did today, and what you did to that poor girl. But doesn't take away the fact that you are my brother." Lelouch said with a sad smile.
"Its funny. I was always jealous of you. You were so smart and talented, and I was the failure yet some how we were so close. Even now." Clovis commented
"You had talents of your own. You're the best artist I know." Lelouch said comforting his dying brother, a man who went to the dark side out of desperation and loss.
"Just don't let Nunally know what I became" Clovis asked full of regret for what he did over the past year. It just so pointless now.
"I'm sorry brother. I can't do that. The world will know what you did toady. But I will always remember the kind child you were back at Aries Villa. And I know that Nunally will to." Lelouch said.
"Thank You" Clovis replied before his life expired.
Lelouch closed the eyes of his brother as the world came back into focus around him tears in his eyes. "Rest in peace Brother"
"Lelouch, are you ok" Rai asked seeing his friend crying.
"This was different. The others that I killed before were just names and faces. I knew Clovis. And it hurts to see the man he became" Lelouch said sadly before looking onwards. "We need to move the others need to know what happened today."
Wiping away the tears Lelouch stood up and the three assassins left the room as quietly as they entered.
