Chapter Thirteen: Onyx
Onyx watched from the window. She was soon going to be discovered which meant that she had to hurry. If only the spell were permanent already! The nightmare huffed and flew away from the window. She had to speed things up.
One may be wondering why the nightmare had done this all in the first place. Onyx had enough of losing. It had already been embarrassing enough when they had lost to the Guardians of Childhood. Pitch Black was a fool, and it was about time to take things into her own hooves.
So, she broke into North's library and found one of his old books that talked about erasing memories and memory seals. she had been waiting for the chance to use it and the time finally came when the one anniversary came. She followed the winter spirit back to his tree and put the spell in action. Everyone forgot Jack Frost being a Guardian. Children who believed in him didn't believe in him anymore. She even got Pitch Black to forget. Every memory was stored in a shiny, light blue memory seal hidden away deep in the forest. Onyx thought her plan would work.
And then the Guardians had started to remember.
She didn't know why they were remembering. The wipe should've taken full effect and disable their ability to remember what they forgot, but for some reason, the forgotten memories were being triggered by certain actions, places, or things. And when the Guardians remembered, Onyx grew angered.
Why were they remembering? They weren't supposed to remember a thing! The spell should've erased their memories and by the end of the week, their memories would be gone forever, but the Guardians remembered. They remembered things about Jack. But why?
Onyx was upset. She had to speed things up. Every memory the Guardians gained meant that they would soon come for the seal and destroy it to reverse the spell. So, she did the one thing that one would do when they found that they were close to defeat.
She gathered the other nightmares and prepared for battle.
Author's Note: A bit of a short chapter here, but it is important and it explains a bunch of things like why Onyx did all of...this. Anyway, since this chapter is super short, I'll be posting fourteen as well. It will be up shortly! =D
