The next day, Minato woke up and let out a loud yawn, his gut pain was gone and for the first time in a long while, he slept peacefully. He shifted around and smiled as he faced Hamuko who was snoring peacefully.

"Man..." Minato felt his cheeks grow hot. "This is so out of character for me..." He muttered, gently caressing Hamuko's cheek with the softest touch he could muster.

Hamuko smiled in her sleep and Minato chuckled as she draped her arm over him and snuggled close.

He honestly thought his love would be entirely one sided from start to finish but he was so happy to be proven wrong, Hamuko actually liked him back! This was nothing short of a miracle in his eyes. It truly was, since both of them were polar opposites of each other.

Minato was basically evil incarnate, and Hamuko was possibly the nicest girl in the school. Hell, scratch that, she was the nicest girl Minato had ever met. Minato couldn't fathom how she was able to walk with him to school everyday. It boggled his mind but he loved it every minute of it.

Hamuko buried her face into the crook of his neck. Minato blushed beet read once again.

"Goddamn!" He panted hard, he would love to snuggle back but he wouldn't want to wake her up. She deserved to rest.

Minato returned to his thoughts once again. Just looking at Hamuko made him melt for some reason, she wasn't as hot as Mitsuru, but he really didn't give a shit about that. He usually went for the hottest girl in the class but Hamuko broke that tradition.

A shiver passed through him as Hamuko kissed his neck.

"Goddammit!" Minato bit his lip, his face flushing once again.

"Control yourself," Minato chanted over and over again as Hamuko kissed him again.

"Control over hormones is the first step on becoming a decent boyfriend," He gasped. "Can't believe I fucking said that!"

Hamuko sat up and Minato smiled. "Good Mor-" He was cut off by her rather cold stare.

"W-What?" Minato mumbled.

"So, I've been kissing and snuggling up to you for 15 minutes now," Hamuko scowled. "What did the hell did I get in return?"

"I... uh," Minato fumbled over his words.

"You suck at this," Hamuko said bluntly, and Minato panicked.

"H-Hey, I'm good at this shit!" The blue haired demon defended himself, leaning closer.

Hamuko cupped his cheeks and stopped him with a charming smile. "My dear, Minato-kun." She leaned closer as well.

"Oh boy, here it comes," Minato muttered, closing his eyes. Another passionate kiss incoming, he was going to enjoy every minute of it.

...

... Hamuko was inches away and then.

"Brush your goddamn teeth first!" Hamuko blared into his ear, shocking the hell out of the poor Fool. Minato lost his balance and dropped right on his ass to the floor below.

Her words still resonated in his head. "G-Goddamn! Low blow you rotte-" Hamuko narrowed her eyes at him and he ended up gulping. "Ravishing.. something?"

Hamuko proceeded to laugh her ass off at his comment, and Minato mumbled something under his breath but he smiled anyway, happy as hell to see Hamuko laughing once again.

"Since we're dating now," Hamuko gave out a few more giggles and leveled her face with his.

"W-We are?" Minato blinked, his current expression melted into a really warm smile. Hamuko couldn't resist smiling herself at the joy he was emitting right now.

"Yes we are," Hamuko replied. "You'll have to endure a lot of stuff, that okay?"

"Whatever you say," Minato pulled her close and hugged her tightly. "I'll do anything, dammit!"

Hamuko blinked, usually she was the one to initiate the hug. "K-Kinda too sappy for my taste."

Minato's expression soured and he glared somewhat. "Don't even bring that up."

"Watcha gonna do, emo?" Hamuko balled her fist up and pounded on his rib, albeit jokingly.

Minato widened his glare.

Hamuko glared back at him, despite both of them were hugging each other.

Hamuko's scowl twisted into a full pout and her eyes widened to give him the puppy stare.

"... Whatever," Minato managed to endure it for a few seconds but like always, he couldn't win against it. "Do your fucking worst!"

"Get your ass up and go for a bath," Hamuko smirked. "We're going shopping!"

Minato widened his eyes in horror. "Anything but that, dammit!"

"Too bad, my darling psychopath," Hamuko pecked him on the cheek. "I own your wallet as well."

"You don't get to decide that!"

"Step two on becoming a good boyfriend," Hamuko teased. "Make your girl happy."

"I..."

"Silence, dear," Hamuko smiled cheerfully. "We're leaving!"

Minato closed his mouth and resigned to his fate. Goddammit.

Hamuko dragged Minato all over Iwatodai Strip Mall, being her usual self, cooing and giggling at almost everything. She even took his wallet and disappeared into a store for half an hour, and came back with dozens of bags which Minato had to hold.

Hamuko chuckled as she counted the remaining yen in his wallet. "Wow Minato, you're loaded."

"Uh, yeah," Minato replied, struggling to carry all the stuff.

"Say something sappy," Hamuko commanded.

"What!?"

"NOW!"

"... Dammit," Minato muttered under his breath. "All for you..." He bit his lip. "My dearest."

Hamuko blew a raspberry. "Lame!"

Minato sighed. "This isn't going to a running gag, right?"

"I don't know," Hamuko smiled cheerfully. "We'll see."

"Fucking fates," He cussed under his breath.

"Oh my GOD!" Hamuko squealed as she laid her eyes on some bags hanging around a certain shop. Minato sighed. "So sparkly!" The redhead ran away and came back and trusted more shopping bags to Minato who rolled his eyes in annoyance.

"Minato..." Hamuko said with a sly smile. "Do you like snuggling, kissing and hugging me?"

"Y-Yes?" Minato gulped, her smile was starting to creep him out a little.

"How much?"

"Um, loads?"

"Then you better act sweet in front of me, from now on," Hamuko slapped him on the back, making him lurch forward with all the weight he was carrying.

"Minato!" Hamuko laughed again. "From now on, I own your ass!"

"In your dreams, you-" Minato froze as Hamuko blew him a flying kiss along with a wink.

"... I'll get a tattoo somewhere," Minato mumbled.

Hamuko couldn't contain her giggles anymore and she finally stated laughing her ass off once again, while holding Minato for support. "GOD!" He said between pants. "I missed you so much."

"Heh," Minato smiled gently as well. Her laugh warmed him for some reason.

"I missed you too," Minato admitted with a small blush. "... More than my parents, even."

Hamuko stopped laughing and looked up to face him. "... Are you serious?"

"Yeah," Minato smiled gently once again.

"Enough sappy stuff for today," Hamuko grinned. "You get a kiss at back home."

Minato blushed madly once again as Hamuko walked past him for another store. She stopped midway and turned around, facing him with another warm smile. "You're very important to me too, Minato."

Minato just widened his smile and chuckled.

"Let's go eat,"

"Sure,"

The two spent hours eating around the strip mall, of course Minato had to fund that but he didn't it that much. Not after that heart warming conversation. In the end, Minato won the competition once again, much to Hamuko's ire.

"How the hell can you eat 30 bowls!?" Hamuko growled, kicking the can in front of her feet.

"I haven't eaten for days..." Minato replied with a chuckle.

"When was the last time you brushed your teeth and had a bath?" The redhead asked, raising a brow.

There was a pregnant pause. "Ever since I left."

"EWW!" Hamuko retched, taking a step back. "Goddamn! I kissed that!?"

Minato was slightly offended. "You liked it and you know it!"

Hamuko replied with another sly smile. "Nope, you absolutely suck at anything romantic."

"Why you..." Minato clenched his jaw but he ended up giving a frustrated sigh.

"I win again," Hamuko patted him on the shoulder.

"You ate a lot too, dammit!" Minato shot back.

"And?" Hamuko clasped her ears shut and drifted off to LaLaLand.

"That's the reason you got such fat thighs," Minato finally responded in kind and threw some snark at her.

Hamuko turned around on the spot and gave the blue haired devil a really dark look. "What was that?"

"I said we should look at the dresses over there," Minato said, pointing at another shop which had numerous girly dresses on display.

Hamuko puffed her cheeks, snatched his wallet and stomped away.

Minato laughed at her retreating figure and let out a deep breath, he was feeling a little lightheaded for some reason. He swore not to tell this to Hamuko so he managed to battle back every bit of pain and dizziness in the past few hours.

Right now, the pain and nausea was going out of control.

The blue haired youth took a step back and dropped the bags he was holding. He clutched his forehead hard as the sunlight suddenly intensified and his head started to spin. "Dammit..." He muttered, feeling the blood run cold in his veins.

His vision got blurry, with countless black dots dancing around in his line of sight.

"HEY!" Hamuko called out to him.

Minato couldn't really comprehend what she was saying. He tried to smile even though his vision was so foggy that he couldn't see.

"Minato!?" Hamuko's worried voice reached him yet again but this time, he lost the words in his throat.

"HEY!" Hamuko yelled once more time and Minato finally blackened out. He remembered no more.

...

...

"Wake up," Hamuko called out to him softly as she hovered over him with a really concerned look. Minato noticed that it was nearly evening, and he was lying on Hamuko's lap...

Minato blushed once again but he was too drained to do anything about it. They were seated on the bench, and the people nearby were giving them weird stares.

"HEY!" Minato snapped at one guy who was gazing a little to intently at them. "Go be a half decent fuck to your girlfriend! Get lost!" The poor teen scurried away and Minato let out a deep breath.

"Are you okay?" Hamuko asked once again, as Minato sat up and rubbed his forehead.

"Yeah, don't worry," Minato mustered up a smile, pulling her close. "I think I need a good sleep, that's all." He chuckled. "I didn't sleep for days, remember?"

"... You're not hiding anything, right?" Hamuko looked deep into his eyes.

Minato was barely able to keep a straight face. "I'd never lie to you."

"Good," Hamuko nodded at him. "If we're dating then we shouldn't hide anything, that kinda defeats the point, right?"

Those words pained him. He was a terrible boyfriend in that case. Then again, her happiness mattered the most. "Course!" He smiled. "Let's go back, shall we?" He grabbed a hold of the numerous shopping bags and stood up.

The two got back to the dorm, and Minato replied to Yukari's greeting which surprised her. He didn't bat an eye at anyone else and was real close into bashing Junpei's face in but he controlled himself, he had to control himself. The promise and all.

Minato excused himself, stating he would like to sleep soon. Hamuko gave him a goodnight hug and went to her own room. Minato wasn't sleepy at all, he just needed some time to cool his numbing brain and ease the pain he was experiencing since morning.

When he was sure that Hamuko went to sleep, he slowly crept up the stairs and went to the fourth floor. He opened the door to the command room and found Mitsuru managing some paperwork.

The heiress noticed him and stood up. "Arisato?"

Minato bit his lip. "... I need a check up."

"Right now?"

"Right now,"

Mitsuru nodded at him. "Very well."

The two quietly made their way towards Tatsumi Memorial Hospital, on limo of course. Minato knew the answer, but it didn't bite to get some professional opinion.

Mitsuru walked out and left Minato alone with the top doctor in the island. He ran several tests on him and then asked for some time. Minato and Mitsuru waited for him to come back with the results and he did so in a few hours.

His face was rather grim and Minato knew the story the moment he stepped in.

"Miss Kirijo," The doctor began. "I don't know how to say this but..." He paused.

"Speak up," Mitsuru was getting a little worked up.

"Minato-kun..." He took a deep breath. "His heart and brain resemble that of a 80 year old patient. He has contacted numerous, life threatening diseases," The doctor bit his lip. "... He doesn't have very long to live."

Mitsuru was struck speechless for a while and Minato just stared at the ground below. It was his fault. He fucked up.

"What are you saying!?" Mitsuru nearly shouted.

"It's true, I'm sorry," The doctor replied.

Minato got up and started to make his way out. "I already knew..." He stated.

"Arisato, wait," Mitsuru ran behind him.

"... I can arrange a meeting with other doctors, it wouldn't hurt to get a second or third opinion. Maybe the results were inconclusive?"

"I knew it the day I performed the damn fusion," Minato replied back. "I'll die for sure, but..."

Mitsuru balled her fist up. This was horrible to hear. "Yes?"

"Even if I don't live to see the end of the Dark Hour..." He looked back at her. "I'll just have to get rid of the opposition."

Mitsuru stood silent for a few minutes. "You're talking about Strega?"

Minato curtly nodded at her. "I know where they live," He said. "... I feel like a counterattack is in order."

"You cannot do this alone!" Mitsuru yelled at him.

"Don't you dare tell this to Hamuko," Minato warned.

"Think about this, will you?" Mitsuru asked once again.

"HMPH!" Minato walked away without a word and disappeared into the crowd of people outside, leaving Mitsuru alone.

The redheaded female sighed. "... Please let this be a lie."
