Little Halloween one-shot I came up with on Lucifer. Wondered what this unusual kind of devil would make of this type of holiday. Hope you like. :)

Disclaimer: I don't own Lucifer.

BUZZZZZZ!

"Now who could that be?" Lucier grumbled as he peered up from the bible to scowl towards the front door. "Can a devil not read his own story in peace?"

Putting the holy book down, he crossed the dark living room of Detective Chloe Decker's house towards the door. He pulled it open and peered out into the dark, misty night.

"Trick or treat!"

What Lucifer saw standing on the doorstep took him aback. He stared at the three children stood outside the house. His face scrunched up at the sight of the costumes they were clad in. He frowned down at the three youngsters, wondering why they were dressed up in such rediculous outfits.

"What the devil do you scallywags want?" he demanded.

"Candy!" cried a little girl who was dressed as a witch.

"Candy?!" Lucifer sniffed scornfully. He glanced from the girl to one of the two boys. "And you except to get candy by going around tonight ringing people's doorbells, expecting them to give you candy - while dressed in such silly little costumes?"

"Of course!" The boy nodded underneath the mask of his skeleton costume. "It's Halloween, dude!"

Lucifer sniffed before averting his gaze at the second boy, observing the red cloak he was wearing with flashing horns on his head and a plastic fork in his hand.

"You!" he said sharply. "What are you supposed to be dressed as?"

The second boy smiled proudly. "I'm the devil!"

"The devil?!" Lucifer's eyes went wide as he shot the small child a baffled, insulted look. "What nonsense! The devil does not look anything like that ridiculous get-up, kiddo!"

"Of course he does!" The girl piped up. "The devil always goes around in a red cape with horns and a fork!"

"Oh?" Lucifer averted his irritate gaze towards the girl. "And what would you know, Miss Green Skin?"

The girl went quiet, clasping her hands to her face that her mother had painted green to go with her witch costume that evening.

"The devil does not go around wearing horns and carrying a giant fork! He could easily take someone's eye out with that! And he most certainly does not go around in a silly red cape! He knows how to dress smartly and stylishly! If I may say so, he is rather a handsome devil!"

Lucifer was unable to keep the smugness out of his tone as he complimented his own appearance. His intentions were lost on the three children as they gaped up at him. Not one of had any idea they were taking to the devil himself.

"Now you three kids should rethink how to spend this...Halloween! You could easily frighten little old ladies if you go around dressed like that - except you, sonny!" Lucifer paused as he pointed down at the second boy. "You'll just make people laugh at you over how ridiculous you are going around dressed like that, telling people you're the devil!"

"Hey!" snapped the second boy.

"You kids want candy? Then maybe you should think about doing good for others! Help others in any way you can - and maybe someone out there will reward you with the sugary, calorie-inducing munchies you pipsqueaks crave!"

Feeling he had made his point to the children, Lucifer prepared to close the door on the three of them, but not before casting one final smirk towards them.

"Remember, children, God is always watching you!"

With that, Lucifer slammed the door shut, leaving the children without any candy. They stood on the doorstep, dumbfounded by the way he had spoken to them - and more than a little annoyed.

"What's with that dude?" The boy in the skeleton costume asked. "What's his problem?"

"I dunno." The girl in the witch costume huffed. "But he's a real jerk!"

"Yeah!" The boy in the devil costume added, feeling the most insulted by Lucifer. "No idea who that guy thinks he is, but he can go to hell!"

"I'm sure I've taught those kids a lesson!" Lucifer said confidently to himself as he settled back into his chair before picking up his bible. "Maybe now I can read my story in peace."

At that moment, Detective Chloe Decker emerged. She stood in the middle of the lounge, having just come from her daughter's room.

"Come on, Trixie!" she called. "Come out and show Lucifer your costume!"

"Okay, Mommy!"

"Costume?" Lucifer lowered his book to give a disapproving look towards Chloe. "Don't tell me you're allowing that child of yours to take part in this Halloween madness, Detective!"

"Of course I am!" Chloe raised an eyebrow as she gave a puzzled look to her partner-in-crime. "Why wouldn't I? Trixie should get to enjoy Halloween as much as any kid!"

"But it's not right for children to go around the neighbourhood, demanding candy off people! Certainly not in such ridiculous costumes - and especially not dressed in ones so stupid and outrageous, claiming to be the devil! Never would you catch a handsome gentleman as I wearing horns and carrying a giant fork-"

"Here I am!"

Lucifer's rambling was interrupted when he heard the detective's child speak. He turned to face her - his jaw dropping when he saw what she was wearing for Halloween.

Trixie was dressed in a bright pink bunny costume. A pair of tall ears stood on top of the hood she wore over her head while behind her was a tiny cotton tail. Clutched in her hand was an empty plastic pumpkin bucket. She was ready to go out to fill it up with candy that evening - but first, she wanted to hear the opinion of her outfit from her mother's friend.

"What do you think of my Halloween costume?" the child innocently asked the devil. "Do I look really, really scary?"

"Scary? You're going to go around the neighbourhood, scaring people into giving you candy - while dressed like that?"

With wide eyes taking in the adorable little outfit Trixie was dressed in, Lucifer pointed towards her in his shook before shaking his head with disbelief.

"This Halloween nonsense is just so ridiculous, it's not even bunny."

Thanks for reading! Hope this gave you some laughs! Have a great Halloween! :)
