Author's Note: Inspired by a conversation with my good friend CaiRa.
Three days after the final battle with Nxly, Lena Luthor finds an owl on her balcony.
The brown stuffed toy sits on the wrought iron table, facing the balcony door, a letter propped against its body.
Still drained after her taxing fight with the fifth-dimensional imp, Lena nevertheless manages to summon a small amount of her magic (magic!) to perform a quick danger-detection spell. Nothing registers, so Lena carefully approaches. The last of her tension fades away when she sees the address on the envelope:
Miss Lena Luthor
The highest balcony
National City
A soft smile spreads across Lena's face as she opens the envelope to find a letter inviting her to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, signed by Headmistress Minerva McGonagall. Shaking her head in wonder, Lena pulls out her phone and presses the top contact on her Favorites list.
"Hi Lena!"
Lena's smile widens. "Hello Kara. There's an owl on my balcony."
"Really?" Lena laughs at Kara's terrible fake-surprise. "Did it bring you anything?"
"As a matter of fact, it brought my Hogwarts letter." She chuckles again. "How did you manage this one, darling?"
"A magician never reveals her secrets!" Lena can practically hear Kara's wide smile.
"Not even for potstickers and pizza?"
"Mmmmmmmaybeeee…"
"Tonight at your place? 630?"
"Okay, you've talked me into it." A distant voice sounds on the other end of the line. "Whoops, gotta run. See you tonight!"
"See you tonight."
