Glyanda leads teams RWBY, JNPR and CRDL through Forever Falls" Yes, students, the forest of Forever Falls is indeed beautiful but we're not here to sightsee, Professor Peach has asked all of you to collect samples from the trees deep inside the forest, I am here to make sure that none of you die while doing so."
The group stops, and Jaune, grunting and carrying a large case with six empty glass jars on top, tries to catch up with them and ends up bumping into Cardin. The bully scowls at Jaune. Glynda instructing the groups, holding up a full jar of their objective "Each one of you is to gather one jar's worth of red sap. However, this forest is full of the creatures of Grimm, so be sure to stay by your teammates. We will rendezvous back here at 4 o'clock. Have fun!"
While Yang and Ruby smile at one another, Jaune attempts to sneak away from Cardin to his team, but the blackmailer sees this and grabs Jaune by the back.
"Come on, buddy, let's go!" Jaune miserably looks up at his team, where Nora and Ren are already walking into the forest's depths and Pyrrha is staring sadly at the scene. Dropping his gaze, Jaune turns and follows CRDL, to the disappointment of a sighing Pyrrha.
Team CRDL is making themselves as comfortable as possible by leaning on stones and trees Jaune returns to the group with six full jars, setting them down just as he collapses face down. The surrounding team gets up in response.
"Hey, great work, Jauney boy! Now that wasn't too hard, was it?" Jaune responds weakly
"I think I'm allergic to this stuff."
"Greeeeat, great, great. So, Jaune, I bet you're asking yourself, 'Why did my buddy Cardin ask me to collect six jars of tree sap when there's only five of us?'"
Jaune still exhausted, nods "That is one of the many questions I have asked myself today, yes."
"Well, come with me, and you'll find out."
Team CRDL plus Jaune perched themselves on a hilltop overlooking the other students, their heads over the crest, watching as everyone is retrieving their samples of sap. Ren, kneeling to collect it from a tree, passes a full jar to Nora. He turns back to the tree and starts filling it up while several odd sounds are heard from Nora's direction, Ren turns back around to see an embarrassed Nora smiling back covered in red and an empty jar in her hands.
"Cardin, what's going on?"
"Payback." Jaune's eyes widen in understanding
"Pyrrha?" the group watches her gather more sap from a tree
"Wh-what are you?" Cardin cuts off Jaune by pounding his fist on the ground
"That's the girl. Red-haired know-it-all thinks she's so smart. All right, boys. Last night, old Jaune here managed to round up an entire box of Rapier. Wasps, and now, we're gonna put him to work". pulling out a buzzing cardboard box with a large 'W' written on its sides. Russel grabs Jaune by the shoulder. Cardin who was speaking to the whole group narrows his view into a glare facing the nervous Jaune
"Now, according to one of the essays you wrote for me last week, these nasty things love sweets." As Pyrrha finishes her sap collection the whole group is looking her way
"I'm thinking it's time we teach her a thing or two". Russel pushes Jaune towards Cardin who painfully yanks him forward and shove the jar into his grasp.
"And you're gonna do it." terrified Jaune asks
"Do what?" leaning in close to Jaune's face Cardin smirks
"Hit her with the sap!"
"Either that, or I'll have a chat with Goodwitch, and you'll be on the first airship out of Beacon". Jaune looks down at the jar of sap in his hands and then up at the four grinning teammates waiting to see what happens. Jaune turns towards the group and aims his throw at an oblivious and smiling Pyrrha, trying to steel his nerves and shaking hand to do the deed, but ultimately steels himself for what he's about to do.
Jaune with a shaky conviction responds "No."
"What did you say?"
"I said... NO!" He turns and throws the jar at Cardin, instantly recoiling his hands to himself as he looks at Cardin's breastplate covered in sap. The other team leader, however, just looks at himself and laughs darkly.
"Oh, you've done it now."
The bigger warrior picks Jaune up by the front of his breastplate and grins while punching him back to the ground.
"You know that wasn't very smart, Jauney boy." picking up an injured Jaune again while the rest of Team CRDL watches
"I'm gonna make sure they send you back to mummy in teeny tiny pieces." Jaune with his head hanging back
"I don't care what you do to me..." begins to look at Cardin with a newfound fury in his eyes "... but you are not messing with my team".
Cardin looking momentarily shocked, starts a dark chuckle "What? Do you think talk like that makes you tough? You think you're a big strong man now?" Jaune smiles in defiance. Enraging Cardin, he roars and raises his fist again, but just as the punch connects, a bright light shines from Jaune, and when the white fades Cardin is crying out in pain as he holds his hand. Jaune, now back on the ground but completely healed, looks confusedly at his hands as they faintly glow white. Lark kicks Jaune in the back and gets him on his stomach, but he looks up and glares at the approaching Cardin.
"Let's see how much of a man you really are." Just as he says this, a low growl is heard, and surprising everyone a huge Ursa, with dozens of jagged spikes sticking out from its wide back, leaps forward and stands over the terrified students, lifting its head in the air to smell the sap on Cardin's breastplate.
It roars at Cardin while his teammates flee. Russel "That's a big Ursa!" Cardin is rooted to the spot when the Grimm swings its claws and knocks him sideways, revealing Jaune cowering behind him. The Ursa continues to sniff, uninterested in Jaune and following its nose to Cardin. He watches at it towers over Cardin, who gets his wits and pulls out his weapon only for the monster to swipe it away in Jaune's direction. He looks conflicted, wondering whether to fight or run away.
Meanwhile, the roar of the giant Ursa is heard by the members of Teams RWBY and JNPR, still collecting sap on the other side of the forest.
"Did you guys hear that?!" yells a concerned Ruby, the remaining members of Team CRDL are seen running the other way from the roar through the other students.
Accidentally running into Yang, Russel looking back terrified "Ursa! Ursa!" completely unfazed by his collision.
she picks him up by the front of his shirt "What? Where?" struggling and still running in air Russel points back from where they came "Back there! It's got Cardin!"
Pyrrha dropping her jar of sap "Jaune!"
Taking control of the situation Ruby yells an order "Yang! You and Blake, get Professor Goodwitch!" dropping Russel, Yang and Blake nod before turning and running off.
Pyrrha turns to Ren and Nora as she and Ruby activate their weapons "You two, go with them! There could be more!"
Cardin is attempting to run from the Ursa, but it leaps over its prey and claws him away. He tries to get up and crawls away. "Crap! Crap, crap!"
Pyrrha, Ruby, and Weiss come on to the scene, they watch as the Ursa leans over the helpless victim, raising its paw and swiping it down. Only to be blocked by Jaune's shield. He struggles to defend a stunned Cardin from its attack, just as Weiss lifts her rapier to help.
Pyrrha raises her hand to stop Weiss "Wait!"
Jaune takes the shield out from the Ursa's paw and slashes at its stomach, causing it to lash out. He rolls out of the way and jumps over its swipe but is unprepared for when it launches a claw at him in mid-air. He lands far away yet is immediately back on his feet and passing Cardin as he charges again. Jaune tries for a leaping attack only to be swiftly knocked behind it, looking at the Scroll in his shield to find out that his Aura level is in the red. He grows angry again and starts to run at the Ursa as it also begins to dash towards him. As they are about to clash, Pyrrha sees that Jaune has left himself completely open to the Ursa's attack, she raises her hand out to him, gathering dark red energy in her arm. Just as the Ursa is about to hit him, the glow surrounds Jaune's shield and makes it lift to block the swipe. Jaune uses the surprise defensive move to lean on the ground, push his shield back up, and swing his blade right through the Ursa's neck.
The head falls to the ground as the body slams onto the ground. Pyrrha's hand stops glowing, and she smiles at the very confused Ruby "Uhhh, What?"
Weiss amazed and confused turns to Pyrrha "How did you?"
"Well, Ruby has her speed, you have your glyphs. My Semblance is polarity."
"Whoa, you can control poles."
Weiss sighs at Ruby "No, you dunce! It means she has control over magnetism!"
Ruby still impressed, whispers "Magnets are cool, too"
Weiss noticing Pyrrha start to leave "Wait, where are you going?"
Ruby adding "Yeah! We gotta tell them what happened!"
"We could or perhaps we could keep it our little secret?" Pyrrha walks away as Ruby and Weiss smile to each other in understanding and a bruised Jaune sheathes his weapon before going over to Cardin.
Cardin, still covered in sap, looks up at Jaune as his saviour offers a hand. Cardin smiles as he takes it and is lifted back up on his feet. "Holy crap, Jaune!" Jaune in the most threateningly tune he can muster
"Don't ever mess with my team or my friends ever again." as Jaune glares Cardin dead in the eye "Got it?" Cardin looks intimidated, possibly even apologetic.
With his order spoken, Jaune turns and walks away from a frozen Cardin. Jaune seeing the forms of Pyrrha, Ruby and Weiss move away through the trees Jaune smiles and starts to rush over only to stop as his eyes spot a crater on the rush of the adrenaline, he decides to head over to the crater only find that there is a body at the bottom yelling out Pyrrha, Weiss and Ruby "hey, there's someone over here and they look very injured"
The girls stopped and turned to where they heard Jaune's voice coming from the edge of the crater. They find Jaune has already entered to check on the injured man. "He's still breathing it's short and shallow, what can we do to help him?"
Pyrrha is quick to head into the crater "I'll do anything I can to help".
"Ruby, where are you?!" Ruby turns her head hearing Yang, Blake, Ren, and Nora returned with Professor Goodwitch
"HEY YANG OVER HERE!" they all come to the edge of the crater where Ruby and Weiss are still standing where they see the body of a young man with Jaune and Pyrrha kneeing over him "is he alive?" questioned professor Goodwitch
"I believe so" They both reply very confused on what could have happened to him. They have never seen wounds like this caused by the Grimm, Professor Goodwitch decides they'll bring him back for medical attention.
Gohan wakes up in a bed his body was cold, and his muscles were burning, he felt sick and malnourished. His eyes blinded by the light facing him, as his sight returns Gohan realises he is in a hospital of sorts, at least a room with medical equipment a single door and several lights but one directly facing him. Covered in bandages, another realisation hits Gohan as he realises if he is in hospital then he is not in otherworld that means he is alive, where are the androids? As he was about to try to push himself to stand up, a man entered but stood there in the doorway.
Middle-aged man with tousled silver hair and thin brown eyes. He has a light complexion and sharp facial features. His outfit was odd to Gohan and consisted of an unzipped black suit over a dark green, buttoned vest and green shirt. He also wears black trouser shoes and long, dark-green pants. In addition to his cane the man was holding a mug with an odd picture on it.
He looked interested wondering, why a man with such injuries was awake. The man in question approached in a non-threatening manner, Gohan brace this guard he hasn't met anyone on earth with this type of presence of this man since his father, then he spoke "Good to see you awake, one of my students found you and you were brought here for treatment"
Gohan looked at the man warily, trying to find if anything about him was deceiving but it seemed like he wasn't here to harm him. 'Why did he provide medical care?' Was one of the thoughts that crossed Gohan's mind, feeling his energy he felt powerful, but something was off like it was suppressed wrong or a different power all together? "Who are you?"
A smile came across the man's face "I'm Professor Ozpin, I'm the headmaster of the school here. You can call me Ozpin if you desire." Ozpin pulled up a chair to the one-armed wounded man. Gohan eyed the technology it looked very new, something to which he was not accustomed.
"Excuse me Professor Ozpin, how did you come across this technology it seems very new and with the androids around? Where are we? What city are we at? How many other people are here you said this was a school?"
"May I ask you your name?" Gohan looks at shocked Ozpin if his mother had ever heard him ask questions like this without giving his name, quickly gaining his composure "my name is Gohan, Son Gohan." Ozpin never breaks eye contact with clear wonder in his eyes, he couldn't wait to hear more from the stranger but steeling his face.
"You look like you've been through a lot recently as much as I'd like to ask you about it, I believe I will leave you to rest." Ozpin gets up to take his leave until Gohan speaks up
"what about the androids?"
Ozpin stops turning to look him in the eyes "I have never heard of any androids"
A confused look spreads across the face of Gohan, his eyes glaze over flashing back into his memories and thoughts. 'What does he mean he has not heard of the androids? for the last thirteen years they've been terrorising the planet, it would be hard to find a man of this age who has not heard the androids. Does that mean I am not on my planet? Does this mean he failed, is everything is gone, the years, the training it meant nothing in the end he couldn't protect Bulma, Trunks and Chichi, anyone.'
Tears streamed down his face, Gohan couldn't remember the last time he had wept so freely before. He had subdued such emotions a long time ago, imprisoning them in the deepest parts of his heart and daring to throw away the key for good measure. Words could not begin to explain he's grief as he came to the realisation 'I do not know where I am' he knows he's not dreaming as he remembers those monsters so clearly and his arm was still gone. Ozpin turns closing the door, looking through the glass at the weeping Gohan thinking to himself 'This boy's power it's unlike anything I've ever felt before, who will he side with?'
Gohan days blurred together, the continuous nightmare of what he'd left Trunks to deal with only added to his grief, thoughts crossed the boys mind would it be better to stay in this world where there are no androids, or would he attempt to go home and try and help Trunks against those nightmares.
His only visitor being Ozpin, who often saw the young saiyan checking on the boys condition and changing the bandages, as if he were his own personal nurse, he knew that he owed the headmaster a great deal. One day Ozpin entered "Would you mind coming to my office to speak. It is much more colourful than this hospital room. A new semester is about to begin I believe it will do you well to meet some of my students."
After a silent walk Gohan and Ozpin finally arrive to Professor Ozpin office, "Now Gohan, I would like to officially welcome you to Beacon Academy, it is a Huntsmen's Academy in the Kingdom of Vale. There are many things you wish to ask me, but I believe it best if I ask some questions of you, you do not have to answer any of these questions, but I would appreciate it. What do you last remember?"
Gohan informs Ozpin of the training he was doing with Trunks before he started seeing the androids destroyed everything and how the people down there they never had a chance, he could not lose Trunks he had to leave him out of this fight even down an arm he would do anything for the boy he saw as his brother, so he left Trunks unconscious so the boy would not follow him, how he went down to face with two monsters alone he blasted Seventeen into a building as he landed in front of Android eighteen. Seventeen remerged but his shirt torn, they were speaking like killing humans is some sort of game, destroying cities, it infuriates him every time he sees and hears them. Ozpin has a revelation about how similar these androids are to Salem, a smirk creeps up upon his face knows, he can get Gohan on his side.
Gohan continues explaining how he feels like he was stronger than the androids one on one in power but with one arm and the fact there was two of them, he could not beat them. The last thing he remembers is the thunderstorm as the fight continued and then a bright light. Ozpin smiles on the inside, outside a stoic face remains is he listens to Gohan's story, If Gohan truly possessed this power it could sway the fight truly in his favour but now only having to convince Gohan to fight again he could see in his eyes the spirit of a broken warrior.
Cutting Gohan off with a move of his hand "Gohan you dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I am looking at you now, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction. I would like to offer you a position here, you seem well educated and I believe you can help the students. I would like to offer you position of assistant of the librarian as she is getting on in age and requires some assistance. I know this is short notice you may choose to take the position, or you may live here for free, but I could not in good will send you out into the world like this so feel free to say. If you would like the position, can you please tell me by the end of the day, I know it's short notice, but the school semester starts tomorrow."
Gohan and Ozpin have their conversation interrupted when team JNPR walk into Ozpin office they are surprised to find the man that was heavily injured not only within Ozpin office but moving around still covered in some injuries but well enough to leave the hospital, it was incredible, how is he not dead?
Ozpin walks around to the group that have just entered "what a perfect time for introductions Gohan these are some of my favourite students and this boy right here…." placing a hand on Jaune shoulder "…. his name is Jaune, and he is the one that found you. Now I'm sure you must be hungry, and I am sure Jaune, and his team would be happy to show you to the cafeteria".
Leaving Ozpin's office Nora jumps in the opportunity to meet someone else "Hello, I'm Nora this is Ren and you've already met Jaune and I sure you have seen the superstar Pyrrha, She's on the front of every Pumpkin Pete's Marshmallow Flakes box!"
Gohan looks at the odd group, feeling their energy Gohan works out they must be fighters and I explains some of the things Ozpin spoke about. Entering the cafeteria, the smell hits Gohan full on and a large sound erupts from Gohan's stomach making everyone inside turn to him. Raise his remaining hand to the back for he's neck rubbing it "Guess it's been some time since I last ate".
Yang slides in next to her teammate Blake "Whatcha doing?"
Blake closing her book. "Just going over notes from last semester."
"Lame. Nora over here!" Yang jumps up to wave down the other team.
Nora giggles as she ran over to team RWBY. The rest of team JNPR and Gohan walk over to were Nora ran off to, just arriving Ruby, giving an enormous heave, slamming a binder onto the table, catching everyone off guard. On the cover of the binder is written 'Vytal Festival Activities, Property of Weiss Schnee'. This has been hastily crossed out with a red marker pen, and with the same pen, a new title, 'Best Day Ever Activities', has been written underneath.
Ruby clears her throat; she gestures to everyone at the table. "Sisters, friends, Weiss and who are you?"
Gohan raising his hand to the back of his neck "Hi, I'm Gohan."
Ruby looks at the group that just arrived for more information, Nora jumps in "He's the body Jaune found"
Ruby forgets about Gohan continues "Four score and seven minutes ago, I had a dream."
Yang cuts in "This ought to be good."
Ruby ignoring the sarcasm by her sister continues "A dream that one day, the four of us will come together, as a team, and have the most fun anyone has ever had... ever!"
Weiss look shocked at the binder" Did you steal my binder?"
Ruby making 'peace' signs with both hands. "I am not a crook."
"What are you talking about?"
"I'm talking about kicking off the semester with a bang!" She points her finger at Blake.
"I always kick my semesters off with a Yang! Eh? Guys? Am I right?"
Everyone looks at Yang disappointed by pun made, an apple is tossed at Yang and hits her in the face. She glares at Nora.
"Look guys, it's been a good two weeks and between more exchange students arriving and the tournament at the end of the year, our second semester is going to be great! But classes start back up tomorrow! Which is why I've taken the time to schedule a series of wonderful events for us today."
Weiss looks shocked at Ruby "I don't know whether to be proud or scared of what you have in store."
Yang still glaring, picks up an apple and tosses it at Nora but miss sending across the room. A voice from the other side of the room shouts "Hey!" and Nora can be heard giggling.
"I don't know. I think I might sit this one out." Blake turns to Weiss
"Sit out or not, I think that however we spend this last day, we should do it as a team!"
Nora can be heard shouting positively. "I got it!"
"I for one think that." Weiss is interrupted by a pie landing on her face.
Nora being the one who threw the pie shies away from Weiss glare, she sits down and points at Ren who has his head in his palm. Pyrrha's hand is over her mouth and Jaune simply sits staring wide-eyed while covering his ear with his palm. Gohan looks shocked 'how could people of this world waste food like this.'
"Food fight!" is heard as almost every student starts to stampede out the door, Sun and Neptune stand to the side shocked and confused about what is happening. Team JNPR are standing atop a tower of tables stacked in a ramshackle manner. With Gohan sitting nearby eating everything he can get he's hands on.
Nora starts to sing "I'm queen of the castle! I'm queen of the castle!" Ruby Stomps her foot on a table and pointing at Team JNPR.
"Justice will be swift! Justice will be painful!" Ruby crushes a carton of milk in her hand.
"It will be delicious!" Team RWBY raising their fists simultaneously in support. "Yeah!"
Nora responds in a darker tone "Off with their heads!"
Nora jumps down from the top of her tower, and the food fight begins with team JNPR launching watermelons at team RWBY.
" Yang! Turkey!" Yang rolls over to the turkeys and sticks her fists inside them.
Yang proceeds to block and punch the melons as they speed toward her, Blake jumps over Yang rolling and picking up two breadsticks blocking the melons as Yang launches the turkeys at Jaune and Pyrrha, Pyrrha rolls to the table to take cover collecting a breadstick as she does, Jaune gets hit by both turkeys knocking him away. Turning just in time to dodge Blake attack from above the attack. Both girls attack the other with breadsticks Blake blocking a horizontally from Pyrrha vertical down strike, the two lock up against each other only but Blake breaking the lock using her semblance and jumping above to attack from behind. Pyrrha seeing what Blake's trying to do cartwheels away from the Blake's attacks, after getting far enough away dose Pyrrha start to press her own attack back, Blake cartwheels away in return using her semblance again, jumps over Pyrrha and throws a breadstick at her only for her to dodge and the breadstick to break in half. Having dodged Blakes attack Pyrrha presses forward attacking Blake when she lands, knocking Blake back and breaking the attacking breadstick, Blake's breadstick is knocked from her hand and caught by Pyrrha like a spear and thrown at the knock away Blake only to be destroyed by Yang. Pyrrha continues throwing spear like breadsticks one eventually hitting Yang knocking her away, but Ruby follows up quickly grabbing a lunch tray and sliding across the tables blocking the breadsticks with the bottom of the lunch tray reflecting it back at Pyrrha. Ruby eventually gets close enough to land the lunch tray on Pyrrha's arms who brought her arms up to block but Ruby using her weight to launch Pyrrha and tray backwards, Ruby flips off landing on her feet. Ren and Nora rush in to catch the landing Ruby but Wiess steps up to protect her young teammate with a bottle of tomato sauce in hand. Wiess sprays it on the floor making the floor slippery Ren slips and slides into tables behind the duo the impact launching everything into the air Gohan seeing food being launched into the air from the food fight quickly jumps up to grab some to eat and continues back with his table no one even seeing that he'd moved.
Nora continues pressing the fight ripping off one of the flagpoles above the dining hall launching herself forward she slams one part of the pole into a watermelon making it a makeshift hammer, Ruby moves in front of Nora's heavy down slam to protect Wiess but is just knocked away. Wiess rolls to the side and grabs a new food weapon, a swordfish, Setting the fish towards Nora, Wiess pushes Nora back temporarily only for Nora to the end up making some space between them by jumping backwards and returning with a heavy blow from the hammer knocking not only Wiess but a lot of the table behind her away towards the wall. Weiss is knocked into a pillar; the impact knocks her out and Ruby holds her in her arms as the pillar collapses around them. Ruby cradling the unconscious warrior "Weiss, Weiss! Don't leave me! Nooo!"
The fighting resumes with Yang jumping over some tables and sticking her hands back inside some turkeys, Ren runs to meet her grabbing asparagus from one of the tables he jumps over. Gohan seeing people getting hurt in this food fight decided now is the time to step in. It looks like he teleported in between Yang and Ren stopping both of their attacks by raising his aura and creating to strong wind knocking Yang and Ren back. The rest of both teams stand up to see what's going on. "Come on you guys don't you think this is going a bit far ".
Gohan tries to keep a strong tone raises his hand behind his neck as a nervous habit, Yang is the first to complain "ah this isn't anything, we haven't even started using our semblances. How did you move so fast and knock Ren and I back?"
Gohan looks between two teams nervously not really having an answer for them but in the end, he is saved by Glynda entering the room growling. She proceeds to use telekinesis to re-organize the room. "Children, please. Do not play with your food!"
Nora burps aloud as both Team JNPR and Team RWBY try to compose themselves, Glynda grumbles. Ozpin approaches and places a hand on her shoulder. "Let it go."
Glynda sighs at Ozpin carefree attitude "They're supposed to be the defenders of the world."
"And they will be, but right now they're still children. So why not let them play the part?"
Ozpin walks away from Glynda. "After all, it isn't a role they'll have forever."
Gohan uses this opportunity to appear next to the leaving Ozpin "you and I need to have a long talk about what my position will be after this display here I have no wish on continuing to fight but I would love to learn more about this world and working with the librarian most likely my best chance I'm finding a way home. I owe you a great debt and I plan to repay that if ever I can but right now there is a boy on my world that I must do anything to protect".
