Chapter 3: Learning Curve
It had been a month since the rangers got there powers and Cam'Ron was currently undergoing more test for Zordon and Alpha to try and figure out the source of his power. So far they had no luck in detecting the source of his power. However there were developments by his friends in trying to break him out of his shell. The most effort though was by Kim and Trini of which he really appreciated. It isn't easy to get him to open up even a little bit especially in such a quick time. It was good though it felt as if he fit right into the group. He was interested in fighting like Jason and Zack, he actually found talking to Billy fun. And found some of his ideas and inventions cool. So far life in angel grove had been going good for him. His adoptive parents had even assured him they wouldn't be moving any time soon. He was currently on his way to the Juice bar to meet up with everyone. Meanwhile Zordon and alpha were in the command center looking at the results of yet another test Cam'Ron through. Looking at it even when not exerting full effort he was as strong as any of the rangers while morphed and they still don't know what his maximum is. Zordon in his years of working with the powers of the Morphin Grid had never seen anyone with the power to channel it without a conduit.
Meanwhile ever since he told Jason he dabbled in martial arts he was pestering him to spar.
" Jason for the last time no I'm not gonna spar against you. That was a very long time ago and i doubt it would be a fair fight anyway." Cam'Ron said
" What do you mean it wouldn't be a fair fight?" Jason asked
" You all do know why I got summoned to the command center with yall right?" Cam'Ron asked
" Actually you and Zordon never actually explained that." Trini said
" Well I'm a literal lightning rod for the energy of the morphing grid. And he's been running test to figure out y." Cam'Ron said
" Wow so your stronger than us while unmorphed but what about when we are morphed?" Billy inquired
" I don't know Billy but I guess I can ask Zordon the next time he runs a test." Cam'Ron replied. " So what all even do while yall be here?"
" Well this is pretty much just a hangout theirs multiple choices offered and there's a bar so just a cool place to be." Kim said
" Not really for me too many people I like isolation and too much noise to unideal for me." Cam'Ron said " Anyways I'm gonna head home yall have a good day." After that he walked out without waiting for a response. After he was halfway down the block of the juice bar he felt 2 hands on his back.
" Wait Cam." came the voice of Trini
" You can't stay for even a little bit longer?" Kim asked
" Not today just not feeling it." He said nonchalantly
" Please you never hang out with all of us for long your always taking off." Kim said
" Like I said in there too many people if yall wanna hang out later yall can come to my place." Cam'Ron said " If that's all I'm gonna be on my way."
" Just you wait were gonna break you outta that shell." Sounded of Kim and Trini
" I doubt it but I welcome all attempts to try." Cam'Ron said walking away with a smile on his face. 10 minutes later he was almost home but was teleported to the command center out of nowhere. " I'm getting tired of the impromptu meetings Zordon I have a life and things I wanna do."
" Sorry Cam'Ron but we need to run more test to find out the extent of your powers." Zordon said
" We couldn't have done this another day my car was supposed to arrive today." Cam'Ron said
" Its better to find out now so pls follow me." Alpha said walking into another chamber in the command center.
He brung me up to this machine that looked like a regulars bench press.
" So do I just lift like a regular machine" he asked
" Yes but after every rep the weight will go up 100 pounds." Alpha said. That was all the instruction Cam'Ron had needed got in position and proceeded to start lifting. After the first 10 reps he was still going easy then another 10 and he was easily benching a ton. Another 10 and he began to slow down. He started to take his time with every rep this set and on the tenth one he place the bar down exhausted from his task. He sat up heaving out of breath. He had never felt like this his entire life truly just exhausted.
" Alpha I'm out I don't think I got anymore to give Alpha can u teleport me home?" Cam'Ron asked. Alpha scanned Cam seeing that he was completely drained of morphing grid energy.
" Yes I'll send you home now." Alpha said. Before he could say thank you Cam'Ron was teleported and landed perfectly in his bed. Before he could drift off he heard his doorbell go off. Opening the door he saw Kim and Trini outside looking back at him with a worried look on their faces.
" Don't worry im only tired cause Alpha and Zordon were running more test." Cam'Ron said. However neither of them believed him as they had both seen him after taking one of these test and he never was exhausted afterwards.
" What type of test did he have you doing?" Trini asked concern laced om her voice
" Lets just say I lifted a lot a weight until I couldn't anymore, and I'm feeling physical exhaustion for the first time in my life." Cam'Ron said. " Now if you'll excuse I need to change outta these clothes and go to sleep." After that the 2 girls wish him a good night and head off allowing him to get rest that he most definitely needs.
