Seth and Roman were standing at a safe distance but still close enough where they could keep an eye out on Nissa. She was standing on the bridge that went over the small pond in the park. It wasn't that deep but it was deep enough for her not to reach the bottom. That was the important part since she couldn't swim.

"I don't like this," Seth whispered.

Roman didn't respond. He was too busy keeping an eye on Nissa. He had his phone to his ear ready to talk to her when needed. The line was open between them although her phone was hidden in the pocket of her jacket. She had an earplug in her ear connected with the phone.

"He's here. He's right behind you, Nissa," Roman said.

Seth grabbed Roman's arm and squeezed. He couldn't see anyone but Nissa, and he was scared. Nissa turned around and found Elias standing there like Roman had said.

"What's it gonna take, Elias?" She asked.
"I'll never leave you. You're mine forever," he said.
"I've come to accept that," she sighed. "So what if I join you instead?"
"Yeah, I'd like to see that happen," he smirked. "One way or another, I'll kill you one day. Just like you killed me."
"Why wait any longer?" She asked.

She took off her jacket and put it on the ground. Roman no longer had an open line to her. All he could do was watch along with Seth. Nissa took off her boots as well and left them next to the jacket.

"Someone will find my stuff tomorrow and figure out there's a body here," she said. "You know, Elias, I was planning on leaving you. I had everything worked out, and then you killed yourself. I was happy when you did that. I'm happy you're dead. Go fuck yourself."

He bared his teeth in anger. She knew she had hit him where it hurt the most. He wouldn't try anything to save her after that little speech. She turned around, crawled over the railing and jumped down in the pond.

"Oh my god!" Seth whimpered.
"Ssh!" Roman shushed Seth. "Stay calm. Stay strong. She needs you."

Nissa was struggling to keep above water. Panic set in. Despite having planned this, it was much worse actually following through with the plan. Elias was in the water with her, smirking at her suffering.

"Soon you'll be mine forever," he said.
"Come find me in the afterlife, asshole. I'm not sticking around here for you," she said.
"I'll find you. Don't worry about that," he said.

She blocked him out and stopped struggling. There was no point in struggling. She needed this to be over with quickly. The water swallowed her. She couldn't breathe. She swallowed water, tried coughing, and swallowed even more. Her chest hurt badly, and then everything faded to black.

"Roman?" Seth whispered nervously.
"Go away, asshole!" Roman whispered angrily. "Fucking go away!"

Seth felt more and more nervous. The longer Nissa was below water, the harder it would be to save her.

"Go!" Roman screamed.

Roman started sprinting towards the pond. Seth was hot on his tail. They reached it at the same time and jumped in. The took a deep breath each and dove under the water to find Nissa. Seth came up with her in his arms. Roman swam to Seth and helped him get her back on dry land. Seth immediately started performing CPR while Roman sat nervously and watched.

"Come on," Roman mumbled. "Wake up, Nissa."

A few more seconds passed and then Nissa started coughing up water. Roman couldn't help but smile as he watched her come back to life. She opened her eyes, and Seth leaned down to wrap his arms around her. He was crying in a mix of fear and relief.

"You came back to me," Seth said. "Get her stuff, Roman."

Roman ran up on the bridge to get her jacket and boots. When he came back down, Seth had helped Nissa sit up. Seth still had his arms around her. She was leaning into him and crying together with him.

"That was the most scary thing I've ever experienced," Seth said. "I was so scared I'd lose you."
"I knew you'd bring me back," Nissa said. "Elias?"
"He's gone. You tricked him. It worked," Roman said.
"Thank fuck," Nissa blew out her breath. "I'm so sorry, Seth. I know I pulled away. I was trying to keep you safe. I didn't know..."

Seth cut her off my pressing his lips against hers. For a few seconds they sat like that with their lips touching each other in a soft kiss. He broke it and looked at her with a smile.

"Water under the bridge," Seth said.
"Of all the phrases in the world," Roman laughed.
"It's perfect," Nissa said. "So was that kiss just an act of fear or..."

Seth cut her off with another soft kiss.

"Does that answer your question?" Seth asked.
"I might ask it again tomorrow," Nissa smirked.
"Ask everyday. The answer will be the same," Seth chuckled. "Besides, this isn't just on you. I let you pull away. I was scared to tell you how I felt. I thought you needed time to heal, and I stupidly thought that meant time away from me too."
"I hate interrupting this weirdly romantic moment but we should get her home and get her warm," Roman said.
"I got a bathtub waiting for you," Seth said.
"That sounds great," Nissa said.

Seth stood up and helped Nissa up as well. Roman held on to her jacket and boots. There was no point in getting it back on her when she was soaking wet.

"I'm gonna need a hand tomorrow, Roman," Nissa said.
"With what?" Roman asked.
"With everything going on with Elias, I didn't have time to talk to AJ, Karl and Luke. They're still around and need a friendly talk to move on," Nissa said.
"I'd be honored working with you," Roman said.
"I'll just hang back at the coffee bar meanwhile," Seth chuckled. "I know both of your orders. I'll have them ready for you when you're done."
