We must look towards the future, and take things as we find them… for what we once knew has sadly gone…
Those before us have made their mistakes, move past them now and start a fresh…
We must come to learn, that even now, there is a place for us…
As long as we stand together as one… There can and will be nothing to fear…
Be one tribe amongst the darkness and our light will most definitely shine through… Burning through the darkest of cold bleak nights…
Together we can and will find our way… Only together the tribe can make it…
If we're going to survive then with every step we take we must take it together… And only then can our dream stay alive…
We must never lose sight… we must hold on… even if we are afraid…
See us all through these dark times, these new dangers… and we shall break through to another day…
If there is kindness and love then there can be a chance for us…
Just believe and you will see, as long as we stand strong and near… There is truly nothing to fear…

- The Tribe - A place for me -
.
There was a sudden breaking news report, interrupting main broadcasting, the image on screen showed the country's prime-minister, he spoke to the country, stating that "there has been a string of sudden deaths throughout mainland," and that "your government are doing all that they can to find out what is really going on." going on to state at the end of the address, "at this time we urge you to remain calm throughout this strange new time!"
.
Within days it was agreed by the government to enter stage 1 lockdown, come the stroke of 7:00am Military vehicles head down every street in every city, all stating the same important message, -"We have entered into lockdown 1, containment priority... full isolation in full affect... To avoid the risk of contamination please for your own good and safety remain in your homes... and await further instruction... help is at hand... medical advice will be given shortly..."- This message was replayed throughout the day, as the military vehicles continued their patrols. The government wanted to make sure all citizens heard it, and that all would comply, believing at an early stage that they must show a military force.
.
People did indeed follow their government's wishes and stayed indoors, in hopes of stopping the spread of this virus more out of true fear than understanding, but sadly the damage had already been done, as across the whole country people over the age of 20 were reportedly getting ill, hospitals were becoming full, and in the end people sadly were dying, losing their lives to this unknown virus.
.
It was agreed after this point that for the young normality should be found, as a world must continue. For some this didn't settle well, as many families wonted to be around one another.
Half way through the first day of these new government wishes, a car drives up to the school gates of Lincoln High, a couple get out and run inside hand-in-hand, ready to take their two sons out of their classes.
.
A young teacher stood at the front of the class, speaking about the science of viruses "so then a virus is a small collection of genetic coding, either DNA or RNA, that is surrounded by a protein coat." how they start, the teacher stating, "Well in truth many of these 'new' virus may have actually developed many millions of years ago and at some point in evolution gained the ability to infect one species of animal; probably an insect, such as a flea or mosquito." and moving onto how they spread, "well that in a sense is easy to explain, once an individual as been infected by the virus, their body sadly becomes a reservoir for the virus, which can be passed on through bodily fluids, such as blood or saliva. The overall spread of cases of the virus can be influenced by many different factors, such as the size of the population, the number of other people the person infected can come into contact with and what measures/lengths are taken to contain the virus."
The teacher here also pointed out how in the past how many viruses have been cured. "It is worth pointing out that there are a number of ways available to us at this stage of modern medicine, a number of main viruses can be treated by vaccines or preventative antivirals."
.
The door to the classroom suddenly burst open, Martin looked up to see his mother and father in the doorway.
"What is the meaning of this intrusion!?" asked the teacher, who had once he saw their age actually put a hand up over his mouth.
"My son… I've come to collect my son!" shouted the man.
And despite the teacher's calls not to, Martin saw that his father wasn't going to be stopped.
.
The man turning to the young teacher and said. "What is the point of these lessons anymore, it we aren't willing to teach our children… children, many fear, we will leave behind how to survive!"
The lady hugged the two boys. "Bray… Martin we will love you forever..." stated their mother, as she held back the tears.
.
Martin here as he left the classroom paused for a second and looked back over his shoulder at a girl, the girl looked up, he had a smile on his face the second their eyes met.
.
Martin, as they leave the school, is the first to see the car full of bags and cases.
"Where are we going?" he asked of his parents.
"Ere… we are going away… We are now meant for cells nor cages." stated his father, placing a firm hand on his son's shoulder.
And as a family soon drove away, Martin again looking back, here catching sight of the girl he had looked back on in class standing in the crowd.
.
However, their hopes of outrunning the virus were no use, Bray saw the virus affect their parents, the lad growing ever worried for their health and after a few days into their journey they were truly sick, Bray came running to his father's bedside as he heard him cough and splutter.
His father held his hand. "Son, I fear that we're not going to make it… the sickness… this virus.' Here he coughs again. 'As taken its toll on us, Bray…"
"Please don't talk like that… you, mum will pull through!" Bray sounded more confident than he actually felt inside.
His father shook his head. "Ah, I wish I could be so sure now, haven't you heard the news… and what they say about the virus."
"I don't care what they say,' said Bray, sadly letting his emotions out. 'Your going to be okay." taking hold of his father's hand.
"Bray…' stated his mother, from her bed. 'I feel that none of us will make it… the cure is for you… you and your brother!"
"She's right… always was… so listen to her this one last time… it's your world now… let's hope it's a world without the same mistakes as our generation!"
Sadly the virus was too far gone and they did in fact die, leaving Bray and Martin alone in this new time.
.
There was another report, on screen a younger reporter now spoke to the country, "Authorities are still calling for calm even at this late stage… stating that there can still be an end to this virus…"
All watched this, even though many had no faith in the message.
The reporter went on. "Our government has requested that through this vaccination process we all cooperate with what is being asked of us… Now priority is being given to all children under the age of 19 with parents who are known to have gained the virus… and should all report to your local sector to gain the vaccine!"
.
TWe must look towards the future, as the past has sadly gone… We must come to learn, that even now, there is a place for us…
Take things as you find them… for what we know has gone…
Those before us have made their mistakes, move past them now and start a fresh…
As long as we stand together as one… There can and will be nothing to fear…
Be one tribe amongst the darkness and our light will most definitely shine through… Burning through the darkest of cold bleak nights…

We must never lose sight… we must hold on… even if we are afraid…
See us all through these dark times, these new dangers… and we shall break through to another day…
If there is kindness and love then there can be a chance for us…
Just believe and you will see, as long as we stand strong and near… There is truly nothing to fear…
.
Bray at the time was merely a student; now though in the early stages after the virus he would have to be a man of the world. Bray did all that he could, even in grief to keep on going, to keep things together. His brother Martin sadly, however, didn't cope well after the death of all the adults and cracks began to form in his personality.
"Ah, look at you brother playing grown ups… trying to live out the old days…" Martin casts a hand out signalling that he had brushed these ways aside.
"Look I get it you're angry, upset… but know we've both gone through this… and I hope we can get through this together!" stated Bray.
"'I don't want nor need your help nor support here Brat… just you know this… the past is done… those days are long gone… the virus saw to that… our parents death saw to that… now you can deny it or embrace it… I will leave it to you which side you choose, but know that I've already made my choice."
Eventually, Martin pushed his brother away completely, and in order to cope he starts going by the name of Zoot, and goes in search of power, having his love by his side, Trudy.
.
Zoot gains power very quickly with his words, "The virus did its damage… took its damn toll… but where now does that leave us… those now left behind… Well I say we must be free… free to be and do whatever we want… this is our time… our right!"
All looked up, all took notice.
"I will not sit down… I will not rest… no longer will I shy away… I have cast aside the past… seen the light of this new dawn… I am Zoot… I am Zoot! I have a message, a message for all of you,' Zoot here pointing out to those before him. 'There is going to be a new order… I am giving you two choices, you can join me or fall!"
Now even though many flocked to him as they saw him as a leader, a visionary of this new time, Zoot made sure to only draw to his cause the best and most powerful, both in mind, body and soul; forming a close net group of followers, The Locos. "I'm gonna be the strongest. Me and my warriors, we're gonna take over the world and we'll start with the city."
A young lady by the name of Ebony had come to find Zoot, as she found his need of power incredible.
.
Trudy sees the man she loves disappear with everyday; as she sits on the bed of their room, within the hotel Zoot had gained control over, she had her doubts about what to do, stay with him and hope that Martin would soon see sense or leave and protect herself and their child from this madness.
.
Later that evening, as Zoot took to the stage to address all who followed him, "You have all done the right thing… you have all chosen to be aligned with my greatness, my vision… together we can change this world for the better… if you follow I promise none shall be left alone… we are strong… we are might!"
"Power and Chaos!" ended Zoot, now holding his arms in the air, touching at the wrists with his hands held in a fist.
Instantly those in the Locos tribe called out, "Power and Chaos!" all raising their arms in the air as their leader just did, they all viewed him as the legend he wanted to be seen as.
.
Trudy from her place on the stage listened to the speech Zoot had delivered to those around him. 'This isn't him... this isn't the way Martin planned things to be.' and with that thought in her head, she knew at this point what she had to do, that she would have to leave him, as she feared for herself and the child's own welfare.
.
Trudy leaves the hotel in the dead of night, having put a bag of things together while Zoot was still busy, and goes in search of the only person who she believes could help her and keep her safe, Bray.
.
Bray within this time had become streetwise and had hardened somewhat; and at first being a loner actually tells Trudy to her face, "Go, go back to Martin!"
"I can't go back, Bray… please you must help me… you must help me and my child!" Now stating that she is expecting Martin's child, Trudy is seen placing a hand on her tummy.
Bray looks into her eyes and sees the truth, but doesn't understand her need, her want to run. "The man has a right to be with his son, does he not?!"
She informs him of what has happened to his brother, "No… no he is no longer Martin, I fear that part of him has long been shut off, truly swallowed up by his own hurt, anger and sorrow!"
"I don't understand!"
"You must have heard of Zoot right, Bray?"
He nods, somewhat confused. "Yes, I've heard of the mad man and I dare say I have done all in my power to avoid him! But, Tudy, what has all this got to do with Martin?"
"That's because Zoot is Martin, Bray, the man is lost in power… driven now by the chaos left in this world… no I can't go back… please help us… help keep us safe!?"
Bray looked shocked at this revaluation.
"Now please can you see why I have to get far away from Mar…' she quickly paused and corrected herself. 'Zoot as possible?!" as she no longer sees Martin as exciting in this new time.
Bray nods, agreeing that Trudy and her unborn child can stay with him.
.
Zoot wakes up, he discovers that the space next to him is empty. He leaps out of bed and runs out of his room.
He now stands before Ebony on a balcony that looks out on the city as the sun slowly rises. "She's gone!"
"What do you mean, gone?" inquired Ebony.
"Trudy has left…"
"But how… why!"
"I do not know… All I do know is this… I want her back… I want her by my side!"
Ebony nods. "I will have your top men search every inch."
Zoot nods. "I knew I could count on you to serve me well, dear Ebony!"
"Thank you, sir!" stated Ebony gladly, a hand on top of Zoot's.
Zoot paid this act little too no attention whatsoever, pulling instantly away. "Gather them, Ebony… gather my best soldiers and tell them, we must find my love and bring her here!"
And with that Ebony steps away.
.
By noon the Locos were out in full force looking for Trudy, sirens were being heard throughout the suburbs, as reclaimed police cars blazed through the streets.
.
Bray and Trudy as they hid out in a house came to hear the sirens.
Trudy leapt to her feet. "He's discovered I've gone... left his side for good!"
"He's not going to leave it... I know him!"
Trudy nodded in agreement. "I am no longer his love, Bray.' she said. 'to him now I am a prize... a trophy for show!"
Bray for a brief second stood at the edge of the window, he watched on as he saw one of the police cars go straight on at the top of the street. "We must leave... and leave now, Trudy... Martin would drag you back and would no doubt take it out on me if he court us!" and on that it was agreed to make a move, Bray filled up his bag with whatever was useful and they left through the back door within seconds.
.
In search of Trudy, Zoot turns to Ebony, as she stands close by his side and states. "I know why you're here…"
"I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean!" stated Ebony, standing defiantly.
"Oh, but you do… you have a need, a wish… even though you have a want for control and power too… you still have a secret need, a hidden desire to never be vulnerable again…"
At this Ebony quickly looked away, brushing a hand back over her hair, still not wanting to admit this fact, not even to herself, as in this new world she only wished to show strength and stability.
"Trust in me and I'll hand you power… you trust in me and I promise you'll feel vulnerable again!"
From this point on, Ebony was Zoot's lieutenant, and closest ally.
.
Bray and Trudy had been on the move for some months, making their way to the main capital, Bray wanting to get Trudy to someone who could help deliver the baby safely, now that Trudy was almost due. All the time both looking back over their shoulder for fear of Zoot.
.
The pair would sleep where and when they could, Trudy wakes up one night, as the were forced to sleep under the stars, from a nightmare of the last time she saw her parents. "No!" she called out in her sleep.
Bray hears this and sits up.
Trudy, now awake, draws her knees in close and wraps her arms around them.
"Hey, what is it… are you okay, Trudy?" he asked of her, seeing the look on her face.
She nodded. "A dream… the one about my parents… Mum and dad… the day I last saw them… the day I went for the vaccine…"
"Oh Trudy, I wish I could make things better… that I could take the hurt and sorrow away…"
"It was like it was yesterday! As if all could be right with the world!' she turns to him. 'I didn't want to go… and even though I did I never wanted to leave them."
Bray put his arms around her. "There was nothing you could do, Trudy… nothing any of us could do!"
Trudy pulled her knees in closer.
.
Fearful, Bray stood up, he knew that they had stayed in one place too long and that now it was time to move on. "The dawn is broken, light moving in… we have to go… we're not going to be safe here much longer… who knows who'll be moving along this trail!"
Bray had convinced her it was better to keep moving and she tried to get up on her own, but struggled to.
Bray helped Trudy up off the ground. Trudy once she stood up, held a hand on her belly.
Bray quickly made sure he had gathered their camp together and in the morning sun they continued on.
.
Zoot never gave up hope on finding Trudy, even though Ebony tried to unburden him of his sorrow. "Sir, I can't believe that one as you is willing to still burn a candle for one who does not allow that candle to burn bright!"
"You.' he stopped and turn to face her, taking hold on her chin. 'Never speak that way again, Ebony, do you hear?"
"I hear you, Zoot… I follow you!" answered Ebony, pulling away.
They both looked coldly at one another.
.
Birds could be heard in the trees, Bray suddenly stopped in his tracks, he had just caught the faint sound of voices coming up on the trail before them, he quickly stopped Trudy and put a finger to his lips to silence her.
Trudy at this point couldn't hear anything.
.
But then she did. "Zoot… the Locos?"
Then there before them stepped out three lads and one girl all with matching blue dyed hair.
.
"We're not going to make it are we!"
"We have to! Once in Sector 10 we may have a chance… hope!' was Bray's answer. 'And that is what we must hold on to… There's got to be good people out there."
Bray here pointing to the path ahead. "Please we've got to at least try!"
And once the coast was clear they quickly moved on forward.
.
The heart of the city looked empty and bleak, there was no movement, no hustle no bustle, just stillness and silence.
The silence only being broken by a cat jumping out of a rubbish bin or the sound of dogs barking.
.
Bray and Trudy make it into the heart of the city through the abandoned train network; Bray stops before the exit. "Please now you stay here and try to stay out of sight!"
Trudy stops him. "And what about you?" she asks.
"I'll be okay… I will scout the area and return before it gets dark,' he smiled heartedly back at her, 'please let me see if I can't find help or at least a safe place for the night!"
Trudy knew she had to trust in him and nodded.
He steps away and makes his way out of the exit.
.
