TWO WEEKS LATER
L.O.V. Headquarters
Deku was just about to leave to attend the U.A. sports festival, he had put on a brown wig and worn blue contacts lenses in order to disguise his appearance and blend in with the crowd. He had a backpack filled with notebooks, pens and for good measure, his taser and grappling gun in case of a chance encounter that someone recognised him, with all necessities ready, Deku left to bar and made his way to the sports festival, though still with a slight limb.
Sports Festival
Deku was arriving just in the nick of time before the events started, he saw pro-heroes all around the place, even spotting Mt Lady snagging free food using her "charm". This action disgusted Deku, she was for sure NOT a hero, simply a seductive bitch using her image to get what she wants, "Fake trash" Deku muttered to himself so that no one could hear him and then he quickly went to his seat in order to watch the festival up close.
The seats were really good, it seems that All For One had spared no expense so that Deku could get a good look at all of the contestants in order to analyse each and every one of them. Midnight called upon Bakugo to represent the students and say a few opening words "This'll be good" Deku thought to himself, knowing fully well what Kacchan was likely to do.
"I just wanna say that I'm gonna win" Bakugo said bluntly which earned boo's and shouts from the other students, thought not surprising Deku in the least.
Not long after the first round began and the entire student body raced outside of the arena in order to complete the race and win first place, Deku was watching every detail on the large monitors that allow the spectators to view the competition. The two students in the lead are Bakugo (No Surprises) and Shoto Todoroki youngest child of the pro-hero Endeavor, who's quirk is Half-Cold Half-Hot, which allows him to produce ice from the right side of his body and fire from his left, thought the interesting thing is, he only seems to be using his right side, why? Is it because he can't or he won't?
Deku had to put his thoughts aside and focus on the task at hand, he watched how both Bakugo and Todoroki were neck and neck for the lead when finally, they crossed the finish line and the winner was announced as...
"Katsuki Bakugo takes first place! Yeeeaaaaaa!" Present Mic announced a bit too loud for comfort.
30 MINUTES LATER
The second round had just finished and Deku had noticed something interesting, Todoroki, while trying to grab more headbands to gain more points, had used his left side, though seemingly accidentally and froze "I wonder..." Deku thought to himself pondering on the possible reasons why he refused to use it. Just then the booming voice of Present Mic spoke again "Alright folks, we're gonna take a brief intermission before the one on one fights, so do what you gotta do and be back in half an hour".
The stands began to empty as Deku placed one of a few notebooks back into his backpack and made his way to get some food, once he paid for his lunch, he found a side entrance to the arena that was barely used even though there was hundreds upon hundreds of people there and he leaned against the wall sighing to himself. But before he could fully relax against the concrete structure, he surprisingly heard a voice coming from inside of the building that asked,
"So, what made you decide to come to this quiet little corner instead of out there which is one of the biggest festivities in the entirety of Japan". It was Shoto Todoroki, Deku was a little more than surprised to see a U.A. student standing in front of him, but after getting over his brief and sudden experience of confusion he answered the question saying,
"Just wanted to be alone for a minute or two"
Todoroki, nodded understanding wanting to get away from it all. It was silent until Deku asked an unexpected question, "I saw you earlier refusing to use your left side, I just... want to know why you don't use it?"
Todoroki was somewhat sent aback by this question, while it is true that it is odd he doesn't use the entirety of his quirk he never expected anyone to be so blunt in asking. But then the weirdest thing happened, before he could even stop himself, his mouth opened and he began speaking, "It's because of him, he wants to use me in his sad little crusade to beat All Might, I refuse because I don't want to be his tool, I refuse his quirk in order to refuse him" Shoto deep down felt that he could speak to this complete stranger, he didn't know why, he just could.
Deku somewhat understood Todoroki's reasoning, although not the least surprised about what he said about Endeavor, he had always wanted to best All Might and become the no. 1 hero himself, but alas, he always came in second place. What Deku said next shook Shoto to his core when he heard, "The thing is, you may have the same quirk as your father, but that doesn't mean he owns it, you do, it's your quirk, so use it however you want to."
And with that Deku said goodbye and left, leaving Todoroki contemplating deeply about what he had said.
1 HOUR LATER
Deku was watching the one on one fights, currently Bakugo was against Uraraka, the girl that he saved at the U.S.J., she had a clever strategy, use the broken bits of the arena as projectiles and claim victory, but as the fight continued it resulted in Bakugo claiming victory.
It was now the final round, which was Bakugo vs. Todoroki. Deku had been watching Todoroki closely and saw that he had been using his fire quirk, though only slightly, as a way to dodge an attack or met his own ice, he had begun to accept his quirk as his own. As the round started Todoroki blasts a large wall of solid ice, which Bakugo countered by blowing it into shards.
The fight continues with both competitors attacking and defending each other from the other's attacks, Todoroki minimally using his fire as possible, which only seemed to anger Bakugo as he demanded to fight him at his full strength. Todoroki thought about who he wanted to be and what he wanted to do with his fathe- no, HIS POWER, and so for the first time in his life, Shoto properly activated his fire side with no restrictions. This caused Bakugo to smile and leap in preparation for his attack, but before Shoto could fire, he hesitated and deactivated his fire quirk, Bakugo however did not and shouted as he blasted Todoroki with a giant blast.
"HOWITZER IMPACT"
After the blast that seemed to deafen the entire stands, the dust settled showing Todoroki out of bounds and the announcement declaring Bakugo the winner soon followed. Bakugo was furious and wasn't satisfied with the fight, causing him to become so aggressive that they needed to physically restrain him.
After the award ceremony, the stands emptied as the sports festival came to a close, with his work complete Deku walked out to the front of the building passing by a group of students who were talking with Todoroki.
"So, Todoroki, what got you to start using your fire?" Uraraka questioned
"Yeah, I'd like to know what you to use it" Mina added casually
After some thought Shoto said, "Someone recently pointed out that this quirk is mine and that I should use it" Shoto looked around and noticed Deku walking away and pointed him out to the other students "Actually, there he is right there"
The group of students nodded in acknowledgement, but Uraraka notice something about the boy, the way he limped, specifically that it was his right leg, then it his her "It's you" she whispered to herself, but some of the others noticed and asked her who she was referring to.
"Don't you see, how he's limping, just like... that villain at the U.S.J." Uraraka explained to her classmates.
"Yo-your right *ribbit*" Asui said in shock seeing the boy disappear into the crowd of civilians.
Everyone was shocked that a villain had waltzed onto school property completely unnoticed, "We should inform Mr. Aizawa" Shoto added, everyone agreed but before they did that Uraraka asked,
"Hey, where's Ida?"
